First thing is that this app is a amazing service. It good and fast but not that fast. I would recommend this app despite the bugs I will say. So now first before the bugs are pros and cons PROS: Fast, Detects a lot of Games, Amazing UI, and on console. CONS: Bugs, works with mostly controller supported games, and completely slows down your computer(Took me 8 minutes to log in to my computer). So now the bugs: #1 Can’t Connect to the Server: If you can’t connect to the server on your phone then I know how to fix it. So first you need to remove it from the background and then open it again, this should work. #2 Computer Lag: If you had shut down your computer with this app still in the background then it may completely slow your computer down. So next time before shutting down remove this app from the background when you want to play it put it back in the background. #3 Controls: The sad thing about this app is that it really only works with controls unless you plug a keyboard and mouse to your phone. So if the controller onscreen or connected to your phone doesn’t work then either take your wireless keyboard and mouse(If you have one) and use it near you computer or connected a controller to your computer and use it while looking at your phone. Honestly this is 5 Star Quality software and should earn more respect although people already respect it.

Rainway was quick and easy to set up and works as advertised. I’m able to play pc games from anywhere and so long as I have decent WiFi connection there’s very little lag. I love being able to navigate my pc like a tablet, which is not a feature I’ve seen in other streaming services. That said here are a few things that could be improved:

If you go into the nvidia control panel on your pc you can add a custom resolution that fits your devices screen. It’d be nice if this was something we could add to this app’s resolution settings as well— as of now I have to manually adjust my pc’s resolution every time I connect. Another suggestion I have for the devs is to add external monitor support, so if I plug my iPad into a TV it can use a 16:9 aspect ratio and fill the whole screen. And one final issue I’ve encountered is that leaving Rainway for longer than a couple of minutes without quitting the stream causes the this app client to crash. This is probably due to iOS’s multitasking limitations, but if this app could somehow automatically quit the stream when its minimized that would save your users a lot of headache.

These are minor blips though all things considered, and having used other streaming apps I can say that this app is probably the best. Excellent product and at just the right price. Good on ya, devs!

There is only 2 problems stopping me from giving 5 stars to Rainway. I have a 3 monitor desktop and when I start a game from Rainway it changes the locations of my monitors within windows. After I finish playing I have to go and reset their positions within windows to be able to use the mouse properly. The second problem is that when I have touch set up instead of keyboard wherever I touch is off to the upper right quite a bit from where the mouse actually presses. Its not to hard to pin down how far off this is, so after a bit of trial and error you will figure out where to press on your device to have the mouse click where you want it. However, this is still quite annoying when not using the controller. Other than that, Rainway works perfectly on my iphone! The controls are laid out very intuitively for the gamepad and side settings once in a game, and it is very easy to use. You can jump into a game and play very easily then stop whenever.


So I’m disabled and I have extremely limited movement. However, this doesn’t stop me from doing what I love which is gaming. I’ve had an Xbox One S for several years now and I think she’s finally falling apart. Thus, I proposed the idea of a gaming PC as a replacement to my parents, and they seem fine with it. The only problem is, I am physically unable to use a keyboard and mouse. This didn’t stop my passion though, I searched far and wide for a solution, wondering if I could just be independent for once. So, I came across Rainway known as this app which lets you play and control your PC from your mobile device. I just need to know if it actually works before I get the PC. So, can you move the touchscreen buttons around wherever you like? If this is not a feature, I ask that you guys implement this into the program so I can do what I love. It would mean a lot for some helpful feedback : )

I’ve been using this app for a few months now and it’s just incredible! App is super easy to use. The developers and the community managers are fantastic. They are open to feedback on improving Rainway . They listened to my feedback suggestion about removing the battery and calendar icon and changed it with the latest version so now it’s not in the way while streaming in full screen. Soon Rainway will be a game changer when iPadOS 14 releases the public and developers update. Apple is adding the necessary component for the mouse to work with games which means you can practically use this as a gaming laptop. Until then, games work great with a controller. Latency is not bad around 3-8ms for me at home. Thank you this app team for working hard and improving Rainway each update. Rainway made the iPad a useful companion device with your gaming computer.

Wasnt expexting a lot from Rainway before installing it. When i tried it out, i was super impressed how quick it was to start playing. (it literally only takes minutes after u install Rainway on your pc) and it WORKED. It blew my mind when I was playing Halo with unnoticeable latency, and my games looked really pretty on my iphone, if u turn the stream settings all the way up. You obviously have to be on good wifi for this to be useable. I already tried it on LTE. Tried it at work where I have wifi and it blew my mind that I was playing my PC games away from home lol. Latency from my work was noticeable, but it was playable and I was still able to have fun and pass time. You will encounter a few bugs but it doesnt make Rainway unusable. Just get Rainway.

I really want to love Rainway. I’ve tried it on both iOS and tvOS. But there’s something wrong with the controller emulation.

For instance, in both Minecraft and Modern Warfare, the game UI flashes between controller mode (showing A, B, etc) and keyboard mode (showing esc, spacebar, etc.)

I can’t even navigate the menus.

Games usually don’t auto launch. So I switch to mouse mode and click what I gotta click. Etc. I can live with this.

I turn off mouse control while the game loads.

But once in the game, it shows keyboard controls. When I move the joystick to navigate the menu, the UI flashes back and forth really fast between controller/keyboard labels. Usually lands on keyboard version. Every now and then will land on controller UI. Doesn’t matter because trying to move again triggers the same symptoms.

I feels like the controller is sending keyboard and controller events simultaneously. For instance, while in Modern Warfare, pressing A might jump, or it might open the chat menu.

I really really hope this gets fixed. Rainway has so much potential.

Ok I don’t usually write reviews but I feel like Rainway deserves one Rainway is what I have been looking for since I got my pc Rainway lets me play any game that I have downloaded from my pc whether it be from steam or any other website where you can download games and it makes it really fun playing games on mobile that you usually would not be able to play thank you to the creators for creating Rainway.

The pictures are lies the game wants you to first sign into your pc then you can play the game it literally says play any pc game on mobile but they didn’t say first sing into your pic to play the games and matter ah fact it defeats the whole point of saying play any any pc game on mobile because what people would expect is to probably make a account and then you can just play pc game but you literally have to have a pc or a computer to sign into Rainway and then play and that’s not what the downloader was expecting why don’t you developers actually tell the truth and for those of you that are seeing this review DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE GAME IF YOU DONT HAVE A PC OR COMPUTER

The only reason Rainway is so low of a rating is because little kids think that they don’t need a computer to stream computer games or they are mad if you have to pay money to buy a game. In seriousness Rainway is great it’s a bit laggy but of course it will your running a game that is made to play on a device 5x bigger than your phone.

I got this because you can’t play fortnite on a iOS and I don’t have a PS4/5 or a the Xbox one all I have is a pc though I’m getting a Xbox but...I tried getting it on my windows 10 and then my pc started saying “do you want Rainway take over the pc?” And I pressed yes and then my pc shut off and 4 days later it came back on I had to log back in but it said incorrect password and I got so mad now my pc is over with thanks to this scam that now this has all my information I’m so happy now. I wish I could give this no stars

I’ve been looking for free cloud gaming apps for about 8 months, when I saw this a thought it was another pay to play but when I got it was free, the frame rate is extremely amazing, the games you can play are almost limitless, and by far the best part about it is that it is free with no subscriptions, Well done.

Right out of the gate, my games are all lagging with skipping audio and video. I have a GeForce 2080 TI and tons of ram and an Intel i9. My machine is plenty capable. I'm hardwired in to my network on both ends, but games are still barely playable, even on lower settings.

I can't recommend this if you are serious about playing games. I am sticking with moonlight until these issues get fixed.

On the plus side, Rainway has great games detection and I love the GUI, but all that doesn't matter if games simply aren't playable.

And that one bug isn’t on Rainway, but instead on the windows app. It just randomly stops running, so then I can’t play from my phone or TV etc. I have named the cause of it, the Reconnect of Death, because every time the reconnecting screen appears on my device, it stops this app from running on my computer.

If you want to stream games from your gaming PC and you use any non-Mac Apple devices, Rainway is amazing. Primarily, this app works with controller games. While iPadOS supports mouse control, this app doesn’t take advantage of it quite yet. That would be my number one request going forward. Otherwise, this is THE way to play your PC games on your phone or Apple TV.

The streaming is amazing however my screen is upside down and flipped the other way around so I cant read or do anything. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling again numerous times but no luck. Using i6S plus with a Windows 10 machine. Help would be appreciated.

I got Rainway but I don’t know if I should use it will I be allowed to switch back to iPad when I’m done playing the PC games are using the PC? If you can please reply to this.

Rainway works really well surprisingly! The only tough time i have with this is the fact I cannot edit the size, or move the on screen controller layout. I feel with everything going for Rainway, this would be SUPER helpful and a fantastic much needed edition!

I was wondering if you could really play Pc games anywhere? And do you need your laptop open and on? Or can you use this ap if your laptop/pc is not turned on/shutdown?

Every time I would get into a game it works but the second I press a button Rainway freezes and you have to close it, and some of the games I own don’t even show up. Everything else is amazing

This is one buggy app, and by that, I mean BUGGY. that being said, when Rainway performs like it should it does so better than any other streaming app, and it's free. The bugs that I have encountered are: when I disconnect then reconnect and load up a pre saved control mapping, some buttons change. The esc, 1, 3 and 7 keys will turn into arrow keys. The shift key seems to not function. Other bugs here and there but those are the most annoying. But let me just say the developers did an excellent job on Rainway and I highly recommend you give it a try. To developers: keep up the good work and I can't wait to see how great Rainway becomes in the future as it gets smoothed out!

I honestly think this was an amazing idea. I'm able to play pc games, emulators, and even control my desktop with Rainway. The only problem I have is the bug when you connect an mfi controller to your iPhone / iPad for the gameplay. For the first time, it worked for ten minutes and then just went on bugging me and the iPhone controls itself. I hope that can be fixed soon, but otherwise; I love the fact that you can set up the controls for whatever it is you are playing. I'd recommend this for any PC Gameror the guy who plays emulators just like me.

I don't review apps that often... But Rainway is more then what i expected from a remote app. Other than a good gaming remote app this is also a good remote desktop app with good video streaming capability... Though you need to work on sound this app team... Also add iOS keyboard support too turn off pc screen And Mouse speed is too accelerated you just flick and the mouse hits the edge of screen... Please control it And slow it down Desperately waiting for ubuntu version...

No complaints. Really wanted the Steam Link app to happen. But it appears Apple is not going to allow it. This is a great replacement. Im not sure what the other reviews are complaining about, most seem like they are looking for something that wasnt advertised in the description. It connects effortlessly from my iPad and iPhone to my PC. I turn on my Nimbus controller and Im playing all of my PC titles immediately. So good. Thank you for Rainway!

I love playing this while I am at school for say during lunch instead of having to socialize with other human I can play grand theft auto 5 or any other pc game that is ready for controller support from my phone it is so much fun the only problem is that the school Wi-Fi is not the best so it happens to lag at some point but that is the Wi-Fi 's fault not Rainway 10/10 would use not to talk to people again

So many apps promise to do what this app does. Not a single one that I've tried even comes close. Full frame-rate video, clear stutter-free sound... and on -my- lousy Wi-Fi connection, no less. Nutshell: Rainway works well enough (understatement!) for me to stream Kerbal Space Program to my iPad... well enough, in fact, that the game is as responsive and playable as if I were sitting in front of my PC. Thank you, this app !

Rainway streams games with no lag, it doesn't make you pay $10 for high quality and has no ads. The only thing that could be better is when you leave Rainway , it closes out of the game. They should add an option when you leave to keep the game open. Otherwise, this is the best streaming app I've seen so far!!!!

I've been looking for something like this for a long time so I downloaded Rainway and went ahead and tried it out. Rainway detected all of my steam and system games and I was able to setup DayZ and play it, so far DayZ is the only game I've tested but it seems to work well. The layout of Rainway is very clean and easy to use. I will be recommending it to more people.

Duet display requires you to plug a cord into your computer connecting to your iPhone and costs a load of money. This is better, you don't need a cord because it it wireless. And this is free, which makes it even better. I personally think this is better than duet display! Awesome app.

It's actually smooth. I'm surprised to be honest everything is working. You can edit controls if you need as well, Rainway rarely crashes and if your hardware is good enough everything should run smoothly. Obviously not the best but it's the best we have and I feel they could improve and it's free!

Rainway is a much-improved version of the old moonlight app that I used to use. The interface and set up were quite easy and I was playing within minutes. I recommend this to anyone who needs an alternate way to play their games.

Works very well. Downloaded Rainway and pc counterpart and was playing Skyrim within the hour. For some reason the left and right trigger buttons wont work but I was able to change the binds to get it working flawlessly. Will probably get the paid version soon. :D

I can't believe I've been searching for an app like this for so long, I tried this app but this optimizes the display to fit on the iPad (I have an iPad 4th gen) and it runs smooth with minor hiccups here and there. I suggest using the 5Ghz band on your router for the strongest connection. Awesome job developers .
