Worst app ever! Spend some money and get Mobius fixed. For the price of your products, you can afford to fix it.
Now…… the problem with Mobius is, it takes a little longer than most apps to load. (Not a big problem) The main problem is trying to sign in. Keeps saying to check connection. There is nothing wrong with my connection. I am able to connect to Mobius 1 in 20 times trying.

Please fix this and all other issues. A great product deserves a great app.

Error loading lighting schedule, request timed out, are the frequent messages I encounter when I have to use Mobius. It just doesn’t work more than 25% of the time. Constantly loses the time on the lights so they are never in sync and I always have to go in and set to current time to make them function in unison, until the next day. Mobius has performed this poorly for several years now thru various updates that I thought would obviously correct the issues I was having, but here we are, and i see from the other comments that I’m not alone. I currently have ecotech pumps, lights, and power heads. I will be swapping them out as needed. Then deleting Mobius.

This is terrible compared to the previous version. When I first installed the new G5 blues, it took forever for them to connect. I had to physically hold my phone next to them over my 320 gallon. It’s been several months and now one of them is not synched with the others. I’ve done resets, I’ve moved it around to a different spot, nothing. Although the previous version wasn’t good either, at least the lighting control was somewhat reliable. For the money spent on the latest lights, the customer shouldn’t have to struggle with app issues.

These so -called top-of the line products are a never ending cycle of disappointment. At one time Vorttc was to intebgrate it’s Vortech return pump to interact with the Vortech MP. These pumps are in the several hundreds. Reliable? Not if you’re counting on customer support and promised apps. My Vortech equipment has failed the firm aware test. If they cared, they’d upgrade the firmware. Customers are taking notice. No more does it ring true the more expensive a product or warranty, it no longer Matters to uphold promises. Last of this brand or Neptune Apex. Build your own.

Mobius has so much potential. For some reason it simply stopped working on my IPhone, it can’t find any of my Radion lights or MP40s. IPad has Mobius working just fine. I thought this was a unique issue until I read reviews and comments. It would appear I am lucky for now, at least until it stops working on the iPad too.

Some developers really don’t have pride in their product I guess. There doesn’t seem to be a solution. My phone will not find of my devices again.

Mobius consistently has error “cannot connect to tank” when it does connect, only about 10% of the time, It connects briefly then disconnects, unable to add devices as it continues to loose connection despite being right next to devices. The other 90% is “cannot connect” error. It’s unfortunate that some of the most expensive lights have such a terrible app and you cannot utilize lights through apex any longer. Will be returning lights and going with Kessil. Also have Radion pumps that are not utilized fully due to Mobius malfunctioning and will be returning those as well.

Mobius is full of bugs. It constantly fails to connect to or update my MP40s and XR15s. Ecotech seems to have visions of implementing their own controller and started cutting the integration of other controllers, but have pretty badly stumbled out of the gate. They either aren’t competent enough to fix the problems or are just flat out refusing to and expect us to constantly work around these issues by powering equipment down and resetting connectivity. For products at this price point it should work flawlessly or they need to go back to integrating with other controllers who have it figured out before they diminish the brand reputation and loyalty they have. Also work on getting WiFi, that’s kind of the standard nowadays.

It is unfortunate to see the huge discrepancy between the well made hardware which Ecotech produces and the honestly pathetic software they have produced their this app platform. Most of my trubble has been with the this app and the versa pump schedules. this app has dropped my schedule completely, resulting in skipped dosing and skipped auto water changes. For auto water changes, I have had my versas remove the waist water and skip the addition of new salt water and thr other way around. The most concerning has been the overdoing of Alkalinity, double and even triple dosing. If you produce amazing hardware but unreasonable software that results in your hardware malfunctioning then you produce a bad product.

Shame the best lights and pumps in reefing has what’s arguably the worst app in reefing. Constant drop outs and a cumbersome user experience make for more aggravation than enjoyment. I like tweaking and a simple speed change of an MP40 requires 7 steps assuming you don’t have to select your tank again and start over- which happens more often than not. The GUI looks pretty but performance and functionality leave me wanting to throw my phone at my tank. As slow and tedious and terrible as Red Sea’s app is, at least it stays connected once it finally gets you there. this app is worse. I could forgive the lack of WiFi connectivity if only the BT worked reliably. Ecotech please fix this. You’re better than this… or you should be at least.

If you are considering Mobius to manage Radion lighting, first, return the Radions for a refund. If you do decide to use Mobius , it will be a source of constant frustration. This is possibly the worst app with the most
Bugs I have ever I’d There are no instructions. There is a simple video with very, very basic information that is practically worthless. There is NO documentation that gives clear directives on operation. Mobius clock will never stay current. This in turn will cause your lights to be on or off at the wrong time. The manufacturer states IN Mobius that “Clock errors are normal.” You will NEVER get the lights programmed as you want them. It is not worth your trouble. Likewise, I wish I had never heard of the Radions. They are utter garbage that have done nothing except cause me frustration and excess algae. Again, ZERO technical info. The closest thing are third party settings that are not one-size-fits all.

I don’t know why we had to go to this crap. Every time I need it to work it times out and won’t connect. Do the engineers realize that since we are forced to use this garbage we cannot access vital functions of our tanks? I have reset my router, split the 2.4 from the 5 ghz, restarted devices etc, all to no avail. I absolutely hate this crap. These people really need to get it together. We’re not talking about cheap products here!! You charge a premium I expect a premium!!

Update: I just bought 2 MP60’s and am trying to set them up. This fine app will find the drives, update the firmware and when it get’s to the point of actually adding them to my tank…..it craps out!!! What a shock!!! Even after updating to the newest version it will not work. You guys do this for a living right? Now I have them both running, set up manually but I can’t set up the wave motion. What a waste!!!!!

I really want Mobius to be great. I really do. I’ve used the MyAI app and have great hopes for the this app app to bring AI and Ecotech under the same roof. However, Mobius lacks even the most basic stability one would look for to support their tank. I really hope updates happen, and happen soon, because Mobius is really hard to justify using in the current state.

First: There is a new bug that tells me the connection timed out and to check my connection. My connection is always working as expected. There is something else causing the error

Second: I really want a button to temporarily switch to white light only and switch back. Like feed mode but for my light. It would be helpful for getting clear and well lit pictures to identify/diagnose a problem without having to completely rebuild my light settings

Light it self, 10/10. Mobius on the other hand messes up so much it makes me question its reliability. Sometimes, for no reason, you can’t connect to your light to change settings through Mobius ; That’s my biggest grief. Secondly, sometimes the light settings don’t do what you have them programmed to do; I found my light on at 11:30pm even tho it was only scheduled to 9:30pm. Even when I checked Mobius , it showed that it should be turned off but it wasn’t. I had to just used one of their pre-programmed light settings.
Those are the real problems I’ve had since installing these lights 7 months ago.
Something else that is annoying, is that the settings don’t change with daylight savings time. And a feature that I like during the day but not the night is when you are messing with a specific light setting; it turns the light on to the spectrum you are programming, so you can see in real time what your light is doing. If it’s during the day, that’s great! But if it’s at night and everything is sleeping, you then instantly turn a super bright light on and some fish start freaking out. I wish you could toggle that feature on and off while messing with the light. Again those last two aren’t deal breakers, just something to consider about Mobius .

Great lights; annoying app; not being able to connect to the light is the most frustrating part though.

I updated the firmware on my XR30 G4 Pro in order to use the this app app.

Everything went pretty smoothly, and it was great to be able to control my lights without having to dig out a laptop and micro usb. But then the problems came…

The lighting schedule was super unreliable. I turned off the moonlight setting, but the darn moonlights came on and stayed on all night. I would have to manually turn off the light to keep them from coming on.

In the process of looking for instructions on how to downgrade to the old firmware, I found the instructions for the factory reset. I went through the procedure and now my lights operate perfectly normal.

So if you’re having trouble with the lighting schedule, try doing a factory reset.

this app is easy to use and make adding, programming and setting up new equipment simple and fast. A nice improvement would be the ability to program or adjust the lighting schedule while the lights are in a standby mode. I like Mobius and am looking forward to new features and Wi-Fi functionality.

Update: for the past ~4 months Mobius has been working without issue. Not sure if they finally fixed the bugs or I’ve somehow become lucky but it’s been a night and day difference from the first ~12 months of consistent issues. Knock on wood but I’ve been very happy with the recent performance and figured I owe an updated review to my original below.

“I’ve had Mobius along with 2 MP40s, a Vectra return pump, and 2 gen 5 radions for about 6 months. The constant errors, glitches, random resetting of various settings makes all that expensive equipment worthless. Looking through other reviews here, doesnt look like things are changing any time soon. Save yourself the trouble and go with something else.”

Mobius works flawlessly. No issues with connectivity or function. If you’re having problems with it, it’s because you don’t understand how to setup your network properly. Which is a problem for most people, because most people aren’t generally tech savvy enough to handle even simple tech. No offence meant to anyone, but if you’re having problems it isn’t Mobius , it’s your network, your skill set, or both.

I know I’m probably in the minority that like Mobius but I also have 40 or so devices hooked up to it so I know how to use it. At first, I hated it but the more and more I used it and added devices i got used to the nuances. Could it use improvements, absolutely but overall I think it’s a fairly solid app that has great potential for future improvements/additions. In my situation only had a couple hiccups. It disconnected on me a couple of times, but over the course of two years i’m OK with that. I also have my AI devices now hooked up to this app as well .

Ecotech Keep the forward thinking improvements coming…. The ability for Wi-Fi. Would be nice. If you need a beta tester, let me know. Haha

The last FW update for the Radon X15 makes a big difference. The light always lost connection after a day or so now the light is stable (after 1 1/2 years of using it)
The fifth star is only for trying to make the product better even after new series is out.
