Beans - Maps for Apartments Reviews

I’m a delivery driver and every time I look up an apartment on Beans, the map is either not available or the apartment location is completely wrong. The only time it’s helped a bit is when it gave me a GENERAL AREA of a specific apartment . Every other time, it’s guided me to the wrong place, causing me to actually lose time and money instead of saving it. The map UI is pretty bad too. The blue dot indicating your current location is always covered up and hidden behind other icons. Also, the search results list has an infuriating habit of changing itself right before I tap on the address I need, making me have to back out and type in the address again, hoping the selection I’m trying to make doesn’t suddenly change itself right before I tap it.

Edit: Taking this down to 1-star because they’ve now locked the entire app behind a paywall.

I love the concept of Beans. I’m a delivery driver in a college town and there’s more apartment complexes than I can count. I thought this would make it easier for me to find the building I need to deliver to (especially for places with buildings A-HH and no map) but I’ve been severely disappointed. Most of the apartment complexes I’ve been to after entering in the address into Beans don’t give me an option to enter the apartment building and just send me to the leasing office. Other times it lets me enter in the building but then send me to building EE when I needed to go to building A. Until they start letting the users fix wrong locations and add in building locations Beans will be a fail. I’ve only had one time where Beans helped beyond Apple Maps use for the months I’ve been using Beans.

I absolutely love Beans. One of the most difficult part of doing online delivery gigs is going to apartments especially at nights and finding the correct building and apartment location within. Ever since I started using Beans I head out for deliveries with 100% confidence as I don’t have to walk around 10-15 minutes looking for the correct drop off location. Some in app improvements can be done but not a big deal as it can be done through their main map site. This is my first review ever for an app and I really thought I must appreciate the developers and thank them at least by leaving this review. Thank you!!!

Absolute genius. This may as well be called an essential tool for anyone who has either chosen or has been forced into the gig economy by the current state of affairs in the world. I could have avoided sunburns, performed better service, kept up my revenue rate for the day, and avoided annoyed or angry customers in maze-hell apartment complexes if I had discovered Beans earlier.

I hope there’s a way to donate some money to the devs. I REALLY want to send a few of my tips your way. I don’t think I’ve ever been happier to find an app in my 11 years of owning a smartphone. Hell, even if there is a way to tip the devs, I plan on making a window sign for my car so other drivers can find Beans.

I use Beans in conjunction with Apple Maps so I have as many ways as possible to make an accurate delivery. Beans is pretty incredible when it comes to apartment maps (sometimes). HOWEVER Don’t sympathize with delivery drivers not being paid enough to justify a paywall. That makes no sense. Give me subscription perks. Give me some type of bonus for paying. Don’t lock out your app. It’s deceitful to show your app as “free to download” and suddenly you can’t use it unless you’re paying for it - MONTHLY. This is a waste of potential. More people need to know about what’s happening with Beans. You’re bleeding users and making the money that drivers should fork over. Oh wait, I thought they didn’t make enough money? Get rid of the paywall. Do something else to monetize your app. This is straight-up disrespectful.

I’ve always dreaded those orders... we all know the ones I’m referring to as delivery drivers apartment orders, especially at night!! That is until I stumbled upon this app!! What a LIFESAVER!! Between this and Waze my life has gotten so much easier when it comes to delivering to apartment complexes no matter the time of day (or night)! And I love how I can add notes in there as well as access codes and such! I’m beyond grateful for Beans and need to share it with the world now, especially my fellow delivery friends here in our college town full of apartments!

I have been using this app since the beginning. I helped with the beta testing, sat in on some round table discussions, helped map properties with the sister app and have referred hundreds of people to use it. Only to get a message that it will
Now cost $4.99 a month going forward. That fee is very steep. It also Says they integrated with Uber and I find that not to be the case. It takes you to The wrong building and doesn’t accurately show where the apartment is. Integration into Apple Maps would also be helpful since most apps navigation is subpar. I wouldn’t mind paying .99cents a month. But until then, I will
Use the free resources at the complexes.

Love using Beans since i’m a delivery driver for two companies. I wish Beans was like it’s own version of google/apple maps so I don’t have to switch from one app to another. I also wish the map would adjust to your screen the way you are moving. It gets a little annoying having to move the screen around to make sure if i am turning the right away.

I deliver for Instacart, Shipt, and DoorDash. I discovered this app about a year ago, and was elated to find an app that I had myself wanted to invent!

That’s where the excitement ended. Beans has almost never worked for me in locating apartment units. I don’t know if it’s my location (California) or what. About 98% of the time I get a message saying that the apartment complex is not mapped. It’s so bad that I gave up trying. I tried again about a month ago and was stunned beyond belief that it worked. It hasn’t worked since.

So you might imagine my irritation when I received an email just now informing me that they’re now going to charge $5 a month for this “service” that doesn’t even work.

According to the email, this app is also now integrated into the Instacart app? I’ve never seen anything about it in my app.

If this app worked, it would be worth a small annual fee. But $5 a month ($60 a year) is a lot to me even if it worked 100% of the time…. and ridiculous given that it doesn’t even come close.

Beans is amazing!! I’m a Door Dash driver and absolutely HATED delivering to apartments because all too often the customer would leave no instructions and then get mad when you can’t locate them. Well no more because with Beans I’m able to know where their building is. It’s either as easy as pulling up to a spot as if I live there or following the navigation on Beans to their building. Beans saves me so much stress!

I love Beans, for the most part it gets me where I need to go while making my deliveries. But every once in a while I encounter an inaccurate apartment location. I wish that their was a way to be able to correct the location of apartments when a user notices an error

Well how disappointing the this app app is now forcing anybody that wants to use it to pay a fee to use it but they still want you to help them by supplying them with apartment maps still want you to help them by sending emails to the different apps that people would be on to use the this app app so they want us to do all the work for them and also pay them sorry this app you’re being deleted and there were other ways than to charge your users I would think you could get enough money off of Adds and integrating with the gig apps but LS goodbye

I downloaded Beans to help with deliveries. It’s a great idea and seems like it will certainly useful.

When I first started Beans , I looked and saw that my apartment complex was already mapped. However, when I put my address in, the building next door (a different address) was highlighted in Beans .

While it would be pretty easy to see the mistake once you arrive as the numbers are posted on the buildings, it shows a lack of attention to detail.

You say you want to help gig workers but now you are charging us $4.99 a month to keep using it. We already have to pay out of pocket for everything being a gig worker that now you’re asking us to pay to keep using. Half the apartments don’t even have floor info or gate access so paying is pointless and a waste of money. Beans became greedy once they saw all the users who downloaded it. Now we’re all going to delete and go elsewhere. Shame on you for trying to take what little we do make already.

Beans has been helpful in the past now it states we have to pay $4.99 per month? Seriously? That’s $60 per year to use. No thank you I’ll go back to keeping my Google docs with info since all this basically did was give me the apartment name. It was never accurate to actually find the right apartment in the complex. And the description saying delivery companies aren’t paying for it, I doubt they were at first or all this time it’s been free that’s a load of crap.

Wow. How long have I ever worked as a gig driver without Beans? It’s the best app around and gets me in and around apartment buildings that I used to spend 10 minutes walking through just to find a certain apartment. I love the mileage tracker and this is now my go to app for everything.

After using the paid service of this app to mapp out apartment units in San Diego California for a few dozen deliveries, I realized the claims of this app are not current, but for the future, as most apartments I delivered to where not mapped out. Customers should not have to pay for such a hit-and-miss (more miss than hit) type of service. I’ll be back once they up their game. If it were free now, it probably would not be worth my time since my experience with it says only a small minority of apartment units are mapped out.

Beans used to be so useful. Free to use and built from the ground up by users. Somehow the developers decided that they’d charge $5 a month for people to keep using it. And they justify it by saying that gig workers don’t get paid enough. If we don’t get paid enough why would we want to spend $5 a month? A one time charge of $5 would be reasonable, but to pay monthly is unnecessary and will definitely push away more than half of their user base. Good luck from here on out this app.

The added features (after recently updating my this app app) of satellite view and pinning of known apartment complex locations in my city make a good app now very excellent and enjoyable to use. this app has come in handy countless times when delivering for platforms like Instacart, GrubHub, and DoorDash.

Would like too be able to drag the marker over too give precise location if marker is off ? Not sure if that’s possible. Will be helpful for uber lyft etc .

It is so easy to get lost in apartments. I used to waste hours every week trying to find customers who usually are frustrated because of delayed deliveries. Beans helped me complete those painful deliveries on time and get more tips. Great concept!

Before I didn’t know there was a app for apartments and when I was new to food delivery I sometimes get lost and spend 10-15 minutes looking for apartments. Beans has saved me so much time and made me more efficient

When I heard about this, I was pumped. At first, it found buildings really easily in the Tulsa area. As I continued to do more, I noticed that it’s right about 60 percent of the time. There have been multiple times that I get sent straight to the leasing office. It’s a start but definitely needs updates with new complexes.

On iPhone X using the latest iOS... deleted and reinstalled app. No text displays when typing in an address.

The application is not accurate at all. Tried at 7 different apartments. All gave wrong location. Do I have to pay for an upgrade for this to work?

If only it showed other buildings in the apartment. Would help identify where you’re going

Once I’ve reached my destination, Beans freezes up and won’t let me go any further. I have to close and reopen Beans to put a new address in.

Beans does not direct me to the apartments numbers in the Dallas Metropolitan area. Is there an update I need to download for that. Thanks Willie

90% of apartment buildings and numbers are not accurate.

It worked when I was walking to the apartment as far as directions go, however I have yet to get an access code for an apartment. Helped out a bunch today!
