- Inaccurate the majority of the time
- Question phrasing is sometimes stupid and unnecessary
- Time spent v.s. tracker is completely different
- Have to complete a 5 hour driving log to get a certificate
App is garbage. It only records a couple of minutes in a 30 minute drive. I don't want my teen worrying about his phone while he's driving. I don't know why State Farm would choose to have kids use an app on their phone when they shouldn't even be thinking about using their phones while driving.
This app is garbage. We have done all the driving necessary to meet the requirements and the app does not record it properly. All this is teaching my kid is apps stink and it may not be worth the discount to learn more things. Get this fixed if you want to keep your customers . I have been with State Farm over 20 years might be time to switch.

When my daughter is doing a drive and she goes to stop the drive on the all, it says the drive won't count because it was less than a mile even though she just went 23 miles. How can she get her hours in if it won't ever count her time?
My son completed the written portion of the course but has tried several times to log his driving hours but continues to get an error message “we noticed some movement in your phone so it could not be properly scored”. His phone is in a holder and does not move. How can we fix this issue?
My daughter has the Steer Clear app on her phone. When she starts a drive, she places the phone in her cup holder. After a minute or two her screen will turn off due to inactivity which is normal. When she gets to her destination, the app has closed and no trip was recorded.
I was in the car with my daughter yesterday and we drove 35 miles on city surface streets from a location in Scottsdale to Glendale. We started the app before leaving our destination and encountered various slow stop and go traffic due to road closures and accidents. We were in the vehicle for almost an hour and a half, but the app only recorded a 29 minute trip. My daughter chose to use city streets for her comfort level, but I find that the app not recording trip times accurately to be an issue if they are needing 5 hours of driving. We are logging the trips on a paper log as well to submit to my agent once she completes her 5 hours of driving along with her modules.
The app only accounted for about 25% of the drive my teen completed. How can I correct that information?

You tube videos not loading for the modules. Says youtube thumbnail failed to load and just spins on a black screen
When using the app for driving time, it detects phone movement and won’t count the drive at all. I have my phone sitting in the cup holder the entire time, and it will still not count the drive. This has happened three times and I don’t know how to get in all my driving time if it keeps thinking I’m using my phone.

The Steer Clear mobile application tracks a driver's progress through pre-set learning modules of updated content including topics such as Bluetooth, distracted driving (texting/games), and special driving situations. Young drivers, under age 25, who complete the Steer Clear Safe Driver Discount Program, may be eligible for a discount on their State Farm® auto insurance. This application will also offer a code (account key) in which a mentor (parent, guardian, agent, experienced driver over 25) can receive from their driver and keep track of their driver's course progress and driving feedback/trip scores from their own device. The Steer Clear® app is part of a comprehensive program that helps young drivers reinforce positive driving behavior. Badges have been added to Steer Clear to recognize and reward a variety of specific driving accomplishments. Once a driver completes the program, they will receive a program completion certificate that they can text, email, or bring into the agent's office. Drivers will no longer need to manually record their trips if the program is conducted through SteerClear. Throughout their trips, drivers will be scored and given feedback on their braking, acceleration, and cornering. The badges will help align users to shared goals of SteerClear , such as scoring a certain percentage on a specific driving behavior, while acting as virtual, motivational status symbols. *The Steer Clear Safe Driver Discount is not available in all states.
