Best workout tracker

Update: I think it would be a good addition if there is a way to save workout on the fly as a plan coz sometimes we’re trying out workout combinations that would be good for a given amount of time. Also, could you please add the features in stats to keep track of volume per workout session and/or workout per week. Thanks! This has been a great app so far!

By far the best workout tracker I’ve tried from the AppStore, and I’ve tried several from the best selling list. All of them pale in comparison to DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal. I’ve listed the main features of DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal if you’re comparing this with other apps. Good luck trying to find all of that features from other workout trackers.
1. Very low learning curve
2. Ease of finding workout plans that suits your needs
3. Very easy to create your own plan
4. Ability to create supersets with rest time
5. Simple animated guidance
6. Statistical tracking down to main each main body parts
7. Easily track body measurements
8. Ability to track exercises without having a plan
9. Does not gather unnecessary personal information
10. Does not require yearly membership fees. You pay once and that is it.

Missing some key attributes

There’s a lot I like. Namely I don’t have to subscribe. God I hate subscription fees. I get to designate sets as warmup sets. I can easily add exercises that don’t exist in their moderately sized database. I can also choose what exercises to graph and export data.

Now, for the gripes. It’s not super intuitive. I can’t record my height in my measurements (4 years as an app and they still have this oversight? Really?). I can’t add or designate sets warmup sets once I’ve started a workout. I can’t record RPE. I can’t easily swap exercises mid-workout (for busy gyms this is a must). I can’t link exercises as supersets after I’ve added them to my workout (or if I can, see gripe number one). I can’t use images for exercises I’ve created. I can’t designate secondary muscle groups for exercises (a must for determining overall volume). I can’t designate sets as drop sets. I’m sure there will be more as I continue to ween myself off Jefit. I can only hope that DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal continues to improve.

Great app but...

I really like DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal. Works well and is easy to use. However, there are a few things that could be better. Creating new routines is a little tedious but okay. The one issue I have is that I can’t seem to edit an existing plan. I can edit an individual workout but changing exercises in the overall plan requires re-entering all the data or copying an existing plan and then editing it. I think you should be able to quickly and easily tweak an existing plan as needed. Also, it’s a little difficult to create a plan that has alternating exercises from week to week. Meaning this Monday is normal bench but next Monday is close-grip bench. The best workaround I’ve figured out is to add both to Monday’s list and the. Leave one blank and remember which one to do or look in history to see what I did last. All said it’s the best app I’ve tried.

Love this app

This is a very well designed and easy to use app for creating fitness routines. I have the premium version and it has tons of different workout plans that are available. I haven’t found any bugs or problems and I’ve been using it for over a year now. I do have a feature request. I would like to be able to add my own workout example jpegs to a custom workout (a pic showing the starting position and another showing the flexed position, just like the workout examples included with DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal ). This is just a request however. This has no effect on DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal , it’s still a great app if you workout!

Finally a great workout log app that isn’t a pricey subscription

I’ve tried over 30 different workout log apps before I found this one. Finding an app with a good layout/user experience that wasn’t a subscription I thought was impossible to find before daily strength. I previously was using strong but paying $100 for a lifetime sub seemed like robbery to me. DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal offers all the features I need from a workout log and the bonus workout plans are amazing. A huge shout out to the developer and this is well worth the one time 10 dollar buy.

Finally a good workout app

Tried half a dozen apps. Missing exercises, inability to customize, slow logging, add-on prices for workout plans. The list of negatives continues. Not so here. Logging your workouts while lifting is easy. Adding another set, or another exercise is quick and simple. Analytics tracking your history on a specific exercise makes it easy to challenge for more gains. The built in exercises, which get updated, is huge. This is a must have for anyone looking to simply buy effectively track their workouts.

Awesome workout app

I’ve had DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal for a couple years now and I can easily say it’s my favorite workout app. Simple interface and many customizable options in terms of workout plans and the individual workouts themselves. I love how you can have set goals in terms of workouts per week. It’s also great having your all time stats for certain exercises to see your max.

Impressive

Excellent app. A million thanks to a great developer. Well designed all around and 100% user friendly, with a easy learning curve. I love the animations in the premium that shows you the proper form and highlighted muscle gains. I upgraded to the lifetime premium in less than a minute of downloading the free version. Do yourself a giant favor and purchase the premium…it’s worth every penny.

Love this app, but...

...I only downloaded this after learning about it through App Advice (Apps Gone Free) and I did not realize that I had to go into settings and tap the crown 👑 to go premium and now it has expired — I was using it and enjoying it and I just now hit a hit-up for a “premium” and so while it is my fault I’m still a little upset that if I want to access the premium features I have to pay $9.99 but even using the free version is pretty good... can you offer me something?

Totally worth it!

I held off on purchasing this because I am cheap and I refuse to pay subscription fees for apps. I LOVE that DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal charges a one time fee and not a subscription like so many others! So I took a chance and I don’t regret it one bit! The built in workout plans are great and the customization options are incredible. The rest timers keep my workouts on track, fast, and efficient! Big fan!

Best workout app I’ve used

This is simple and easy to use. It’s easy to add exercises to my custom workouts. It has a good variety of premise workouts and the individual exercises. I wish it had two things, the ability to type in a note inside the workout and individual exercises, and a stopwatch for when I’m doing planks and such.

Great

DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal is super useful. Helps me keep track of progress, previous sessions, maxes, reps.

Lots of workout plans to look at, but also can make my own custom plans. Good for me cause I like to mix in different exercises to improve my surfing and general athleticism. Not to mention the ability to record a workout on the go, for days when the gym is busy and I can’t stick to my prepared plans without waiting 20 minutes for the power cage to open up or something .

The in workout timer and reminder is also super useful to keep me focused on days when I’m feeling spacey and unfocused.

Definitely try it out. The free version allows enough access to really get an idea of DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal .

Highly recommended

Great app; upgraded

Failed to upgrade prior to switching iPhones and lost all my pre-COVID data. Kinda forgot what app was called so tried quite a few. Even paid apps. They are all so complex with poor user experience. Perhaps it’s just familiarity of getting back in the gym, but DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal feels like the perfect companion. Thank you app wizards :)

I like but...

I like DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal, but there's a few issues I consistently run into. 1. DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal freezes and won't let me finish sets, resulting in me having to force close and reopen. 2. I want to be able to copy exercises across days. I do the same warm up every day but I change the exercises after. It's really tedious right now. 3. I want to be able to rename my sets. If I'm doing an exercise in my left side then need to do it on my right, I just have to remember what side I tracked. Otherwise it's pretty decent!

Excellent workout tool

DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal is very well designed for simply and effectively tracking workout metrics without offering too little or being too bloated - like most fitness trackers I’ve tried. Buy the premium features - It’s a perfect replacement for paper and pencil and grids.

Why it’s so hard

I don’t get it, I tried at least 25 apps. Why it’s so hard to have a feature to create for example a 12 wks plan, 3 days a week. Where you can input all your reps/weights/exercises ahead of time. And then just track it/make changes/notes. Literally no single app can do that. I don’t want to log sets as I go, I know exactly what I am doing ahead of time. Very frustrating.

Best there is!

I have tried many workout and training apps to find the most fluid and easily adaptable one for my workouts. If you want to find a workout routine on one week and then mix it up by just logging your workout as you go freestyle then this is DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal for you!! Great job team!! Thank you!

Almost perfect

This is one of the best workout tracker apps I’ve used. I love how I can create custom routines. But, the rest timer between sets only works if my phones screen is on and DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal is still open. This doesn’t make a lot of sense if I keep my phone in my pocket between sets, as I’m not alerted to when I should start the next set. Is there a way to customize this?

Absolutely the best!!!!!

I have used many different apps to track my workouts. This is the best!!!! From the exercises listed, the routines provided, the flexibility to add you own routines and exercises to the logging off workouts and the timing within workouts. NONE BETTER!!!!!

Best program to track and build fitness

I keep learning something new about this program. When I need to do something new, DailyStrengthWorkoutJournal has a way. Only upgrade I would like is in the distance category. Farmers walk exercise in steps not miles.
