Lost everything!

I love GridDiary right. Matter fact, I believe I suggested a weekly, monthly , annual view from the last one which is a life changer.

Except, when I signed up, it says you would lose your current data so asks if I wanted to a restore, b , or c clear. I clicked clear thinking it was the option to come out of this step bc I would just export instead, but it cleared everything in the diary. Who would even want to clear the phone’s notes if they’re signing up? B and c options have the same meaning. Just auto add to the account leave clear in settings or something.

My year was all set for the first time in my life. I’m so sad.

Almost a good app…

It seemed great the first day I used it, but when I went to answer the questions I had put into my journal, they were all different the next day. I use a popular method where I ask myself the same 4 questions every morning, so I did not want their random prompts. I figured I just needed to save my questions as a template, which I did, but when I went to add it to my journal, it wasn’t an option. After about 30+ minutes of trying to figure out how to add my template to my journal so it shows up without me having to re-write them in manually every day, I gave up. I believe there must be a way to do it (or else why have the option for templates?) but GridDiary makes it so difficult and unintuitive that it’s not worth it. This should be an extremely easy feature to find, since I’m sure it’s what a lot of people hope to use it for.

Disappointed

I can’t add photos because they will show up as a question mark on my second device, no matter which device I add the photo on. I also have tons of titles and tags from deleted entries. It says 55 total entries but I have 4 (still counts deleted entries from a while back). I have contacted support repeatedly and only received one response that was a single line and offered a non-working solution. Been waiting for weeks for help with this. GridDiary also said the year sun was $13 (I had the classic version) but it charged me $22. Support needs to help users who paid for this. Photos should not be such a mess, and the sync takes forever.

Scam. Do not buy. App upgrade not activated 12 hours (and counting) after purchase

Huge let down. I’ve never felt compelled to write a review about an app. This one is SO bad, I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t warn others.
I spent a few days deciding which journaling app to buy. Settled on this. Liked the grid template vs. long narrative templates.
Purchased at 9:30am and now it’s 9:30pm. Still not active so I’m unable to sync and use on my desktop. Subscription shows active in App Store. Tried all the solutions offered in the troubleshooting FAQs and nothing works. Submitted multiple messages to “support” with screenshots and no response. Terrible.

I Want To Love It

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE everything about GridDiary, and even pay the premium membership. The only addition that would be super cool to see would be some place you could have a checklist of things that repeat to each day on a daily grid or something. That would be the ultimate app for me, and I would be a forever customer, as long as you can fix one thing:

I do a lot of memory journaling for my kids to have one day, so I use this a lot to quickly write down my thoughts and happenings throughout the day until I can spend the time to make it "pretty" in my physical journal.

But you guuuuyyys. The syncing has to get better. Sometimes I will input things on my phone, sometimes my MacBook. And a lot of the time they don't crossover and once and a while disappear completely. These are my memories! My kids milestones! This can't be happening. I will be a forever yearly premium customer if I feel confident my memories aren't going to be lost... and right now I'm not confident. It's so frustrating!

Meh.

GridDiary is okay. I got it a few days ago, but now I’m barely using it. Don’t get me wrong. GridDiary is really good. But it’s a little boring. It asks you questions, and you can answer them, but it doesn’t feel right. Why can’t you put your own stuff in there? Not just answers to questions. I love GridDiary, and it’s really nice, but, I’m just saying, please, be able to put your own stuff in there. Don’t be stuck. Be free! Tell it your OWN life. So please, just keep in mind that if you get GridDiary, you can’t get out of the questions.

Very Few Features

GridDiary is good and I understand the need to make money off of GridDiary through subscription. However there are very few features without paying. I can’t add a second journal. I got GridDiary to track my quarantine habits but I can’t make a second journal to keep track of my dogs. This was slightly confusing but understandable. I tried to add quotes so I can see more variety of quotes but it was locked. I also tried to add a second reminder on the journal app so I would remember to use it. Of all things to lock they locked this. Normally I would delete GridDiary but I love the format of the grid so much I can’t. GridDiary probably deserves less stars but I respect the need for a subscription it’s also not very expensive and I may get the subscription later if GridDiary really works. All in all it’s an okay app take note that as much as I complain about it the subscription is only two dollars a month.

Great. Could have an extra feature or 2

Great. I won’t go into detail of what makes GridDiary great as others have already pointed that out. I’ll just detail a little why I decided to remove one star:

> If you add your own quote and it’s very long, it will get cut off.
> A 3 day free trial if you’re interested in paying monthly seems almost trivial and too short to determine if you want to pay for pro. So you almost feel forced to sign up for the yearly and hope you don’t forget to cancel. Feels somewhat shady.
>I wish you could organize your quotes instead of the defacto “Custom” and “Default” groups
> It would be great if a grid could be marked random so every day it would ask you a different question

So it’s great but it’s definitely not reaching its full potential.

Question: viewing a log of single grid

I don’t know where to send questions to, but I was wondering if there is a way to view only a single grid log?

Let’s say I have a grid that is for exercise, it’s easier for me to look at my progress just for that grid as a list rather than seeing every other grid allocated for everything when I flip through the pages. It would be nice to be able to scroll through my log just for one grid or be able to look at it as a log on a page that I can scroll.

Exactly what I was looking for!

I wanted to be able to have a daily template of my own questions and prompts. I have learned many different great ideas for ways to start your day and get your mind on the right path. I did not want to have to write the templates everyday with pen and paper. Going to use GridDiary everyday and customize it to whatever self help book I am reading at the time. A lot of other apps have cliche fixed questions and that’s not what I want.

Unique, Customizable, Game-Changing App!!!

I’m only able to edit the review I have already made, but in doing so, I am “upping” my rating to 5 stars. There is truly no comparable application anywhere that even approaches the ease of use, abundant (and not bloated) features, with the number of customization tools available as Grid Diary 2! Anyone who uses GridDiary can surely tell that there is a lot of love and care in its design, maintenance, and extension...I talk GridDiary up to everyone I know who would be interested. There is literally simply nothing like it out there, and it truly is a game changer. 2 minor features I’d still love to see:
- In the “Timeline” context, using the filter function, the weather stickers and emoji stickers are not multi-select, while the flags are. I would think that if a user wanted to select all entries where they were either upset OR sad OR mad, they would be able to do so.
- A desktop version of the application and cross platform synch would be awesome as well. :)
All in all, this is a great app...well worth the meager price of subscription, and I certainly appreciate your efforts in delivering this kind of quality mobile application. It is truly a credit to your creativity, care, and tenacity to be able to produce something this amazing!

Thanks!!!

My new favorite app.

I have been looking for an app where I can create a few of my own journal prompts for everyday (it’s too much to write down everyday). GridDiary is perfect. The visual is perfect. So much improvement from the last app in terms of functions. As a college student, I really appreciate how many functions the free version offers. I LOVE the daily, weekly, yearly options. GridDiary is perfect. Please never ever take GridDiary down.

One of the best Journaling Apps

I never review apps but I thought this journal app deserves it. This is a superb journaling app and it’s really helped me to stay productive throughout my day. I highly recommend it! The only complaints I have is that when you try to type in bold or italic text it puts these weird stars around the text. It gets fixed once your preview the entry but I wish it would just type in bold and italic without the stars.

Love the idea

I’m a big journalist in my spare time, I finally found an app to fit m6 writing needs, namely GridDiary however, I don’t like having to be charge an6 amount to further expand my experience with its use. I wish the $20 was a one time payment toward GridDiary including its features. Tbh, when I see ads having to subscribe, it diminishes its value toward the consumer & its very distasteful to trick your consumers into trying out GridDiary but having to suggest we get charged for something we can do ourselves for free. Doesn’t make sense.

Best journaling app

Believe me, I’ve tried many journaling apps. This one is by far the best. The layout is amazing. It’s simple, effective, and super easy to use. Every night, I select a couple of questions to answer and record my thoughts down into the boxes. It really makes me reflect on what happened. One thing, however, I think it would by better if every day, you got a random assortment of questions. This makes it more exciting to see what you have next, and let’s you think even deeper. You can, however, change the question if you don’t like it.

Incredible app on every level, and on all devices

I've been using Grid Diary for a few years now. It is 100% worth the subscription. It's extremely customizable and user friendly up to the point it just feels so satisfying to use, but why I'm leaving this review is because of the quality of development of GridDiary/service.

Robust synchronisation across all devices, careful database management NASA would be proud of, and consistent quality updates.

Grid Diary sets the bar. I have complete confidence my years of data is safe with them.

Most Important Journal App + Export to PDF

This is the absolute best journaling App for iOS. I’ve tried several in the past. The hardest part about keeping a journal is know what to write. GridDiary makes it easy by suggesting questions to answer about your day, week, current events, what you have learned, or what is on your mind. I LOVE that I can customize my own template of questions. I LOVE that all of the questions are arranged in a “Grid” and I can answer all, one or none of them. Some of the custom questions I have created for my journal include:

Where did I see the hand of God in my life today?
What am I currently praying for?
Who needed a little extra attention or love today? What can I do for that person tomorrow?
What did I learn today?
What problems did I encounter today and how did I solve them?

As the cherry on top, you can easily export your entries into a PDF, which turns into a beautiful document. Using GridDiary helped me to keep a more consistent journal than any other method I’ve tried.

Incredible app

Syncs well. Hoping for a web interface so I can update while at work. Love GridDiary and has really helped me. Love the grid format and ability to go through my day in organized manner. Suggestion: like to update/edit existing templates instead of having to recreate template. Overall, absolutely love GridDiary and the peace it’s offered. I’m a subscriber!

LOVE

I want to thank the people that made GridDiary. There is so much customization to make it my own - that I can change the headers if I want or add tags. Thank you for making it accessible. I’m new to journaling and I really enjoy taking a few minutes to write each day.

The best journaling app for busy people

I LOVE this style of journaling. It is so helpful to have prompts to answer and is reflective yet quick. The grid layout is awesome, I love how you can see all your prompts at once. It’s super customizable, you can move your prompts around and edit them and even create your own. Additionally, the feature that lets you see all your entries for one prompt is AMAZING. I love GridDiary and hope it will continue to be updated while maintaining the features that makes it great.
