Do i need a Police check before becoming a tutor on preply Thank You
There is no easy way to contact customer service. My teacher is on vacation and is not offering any classes this month. Preply still reached out and charged me the money for the month. I have spend over 6 hours trying to get a hold of them without success. I will now reach out to my credit card company to cancel the charge.. What an horrible experience.
PREPLY USES DARK PATTERNS TO TRICK USERS. here's my email to their support department " 've taken a couple of lessons in the platform and I was enjoying it so far until I realized today about a few things, that makes me believe Preply has some dark UX patterns forcing the user to take actions he might not want to, and not providing actions for canceling, making things difficult for the user just because of business purposes and hiding possible ways of cancelling subscriptions. This way of handling the user is really poor, as you just trick him or let's say imprison him on the platform. Let me give you some examples with use cases. 1) As a user I want to cancel my payment subscription with my current tutor. (note that I don;t even recall when I agreed to auto subscription, so you already piss the user off at this point) The Thing is, if you do this your subscription with your current tutor gets "paused" and you are not able to use your current credits with him. So I got "forced"to an auto subscription and when I realized that this has auto renewed and that I have this available credits, the only possibility as a user is to cancel my current subscription. at the expense of losing my credits. 2) As a user I want to use my current money amount/credit with one tutor with another one. What a surprise. It's not possible. As when I try to do it it prompts me to "contact support". When I click on contact support, the modal closes and nothing happens. When I click the question mark button on the bottom right of the screen, and choose the Contact us option from the menu, nothing happens either. (using a Macbook pro and safari as a browser by the way, so you can check the bugs) So the only way is to write you an email, which few users have time to do. (I'm losing my own personal time by doing this, which kind of sucks). So why can't I easily contact support? Why can't I decide what to do with my money / credit? Why do you force users to subscribe and hide ways to cancel it, make it difficult and don't give access to contact support. As a UX designer and user, dark patterns and this kind of stuff really pisses me off. Most likely I'll cancel my subscription after I spend my current credits. "

We’ve had a terrible experience. We started with an amazing tutor that within a few weeks told us he was going to another app because preply does not treat their tutors well or supply enough students for them. My son was very disappointed but we were told to get another tutor which we did then he quit as well and went to another app and then a third tutor. Each of the tutors was wonderful but didn’t want to stay on Preply.I have politely asked numerous times to have a refund since this is not acceptable that we’ve had to change 3 tutors within two months. My son was excited to take Spanish but now after having to be bumped around so many times he has lost interest. Now I’m still stuck with Preply having my money and not giving me a refund. They kept advertising us to buy one of their packages which I bought their best and biggest package spending a lot of money. We started with another language app called a italkie and we’ve had the same tutor for the past month and he’s wonderful and told us that many of the tutors he knows don’t work with Preply because they don’t provide students for their tutors and don’t have a good system for the tutors. It’s frustrating because it’s not our fault so we should get a refund stay away from this app. They sucked me in by enticing me with a price deal if I bought a big package which I did and now I’m stuck with them having my money.

I initially started using Preply in the summer of 2020. Found a great tutor. I got a new phone and for some reason Preply couldn’t assist in helping me reset the password for the account actually told me I never had an account. I had to give them My cc info for them to find that what I had been saying was true. I then signed up again with my Apple ID added $50 with the tutor whom I like. After a class I went to register more classes and the system is saying again that it doesn’t recognize my info. Which means I don’t have access to my money. Julia had been in contact but there has been no follow up since Friday when I initially reached out. Very frustrating bc I don’t want to lose my money that I added nor do I want to lose my connection with the tutor. Still waiting to hear from them. Very poor system if every time I’m done with a class I’ll Never be able to access it again from my phone- the same place I signed up for the service through an app. I’m
Just not sure what’s going on but I know I have money in their system and can’t access it and I want my money back. Apparently their platform isn’t gonna work for me. NEED SOMEONE TO RECTIFY THIS ASAP!
-thanks

Every user should be made aware of this. If you don’t use the site or schedule a lesson for 180 days they will inactive your account and any funds you have in your account will be simply lost! I stepped away from the platform but had several hours remaining balance left to use and they deleted my account! This is unacceptable as this is my money that I used to buy hours and they should not delete your account simply because you haven’t used the platform for a while.
I was ready to return and use my hours but unfortunately found out they deleted my account along with my hours!!! For this reason I will never use this platform again and I would really advise anyone considering this platform to try another platform that does not steal your money and hours you’ve bought to use on the platform.
Prepply you should not delete accounts that have hours/ money on them just because they haven’t used the account for a while unless you refund them back the money that is on that account!
