With all the bad reviews GettingOutVisits gets I just wanted to post a good one. I’ve had very few problems out of GettingOutVisits at all. My only issues with GettingOutVisits is that one time when my friend video chatted me it wouldn’t let me accept it because it said my browser was out of date and needed an upgrade ok that fine I thought I upgraded the browser it was using but it still didn’t work. It was using my safari browser not my chrome one but it said my chrome one. Anyway realized my phone had a recent update to it and the only way to update my safari browser was to update my phone. Updated my phone and boom it worked again! Just as it did before. My only other problem is that it doesn’t really notify me when he starts the video call. No sound just a banner on the top of my screen or it appears on my Lock Screen. I would like for it to make sound to notify me that I’m getting a video call. Other then that I love GettingOutVisits! He gets 30 minutes of free video chat time and I love getting to see his face when i get to. Thank you for making GettingOutVisits.

GettingOutVisits is the worst!! If I could give negative stars I would! Poorly written and developed with basically no customer service!! It’s basically fraudulent because they take your money but don’t fix any internal bugs or server errors. I have iPhone12 but also tried on a burner phone.. it connected ONCE then never again no matter what I tried.. kept saying my microphone and camera weren’t enabled even though I zoom all the time for work and all settings on my phone for GettingOutVisits were enabled. Also, the help “advice” for the phone app that pops up is clearly just copied from the website advice ie: “click the lock icon next to the url to unlock your microphone” when on a phone app, that clearly is not applicable. Telmate app developer should be arrested and thrown in jail!! Then maybe they’d fix GettingOutVisits. This is just white collar stealing of people’s hard earned money. They should be held accountable. The jail doesn’t care..and I’m sure Telmate banks on that fact, but as I said, this IS FRAUD and STEALING.. I’m calling my state representative next. I haven’t seen my loved one in over a year because of COVID since visits were taken away. This is cruel and unethical and I hope karma catches up with this company..

GettingOutVisits and the company behind it are the worst. As a application developer myself I can tell this was written very poorly. The navigation is poor, you often have to use browser back button to go to a page because GettingOutVisits or website doesn’t have have links to go back to certain places. The server that hosts the website and app crashes all the time throwing 500 errors. Basically, GettingOutVisits was designed poorly, the infrastructure for the website and app cannot handle the load and we have no choice because this is what the prison decided they would partner with. Their customer service is also terrible. They just try and get off the phone with you as soon as possible. I couldn’t change my primary number and had to call in. The website had already marked my number as the primary but I guess it was not really set as my primary. This prevented me from doing anything because the money I had added was tied to my number (marked primary) and not the other number. The company probably does not care to improve anything as we have no choice on providers.

So sad that GettingOutVisits is being used as our only way to connect with our loved ones in jail. Downloaded it, but have never been able to actually schedule a visit. Contacted customer service, added all the info I needed to, did everything right and it STILL does not work for me! Their conclusion? “Your facility only accepts calls and messages but doesn’t support video visits” um, NO. I called the jail facility and they were surprised to hear that, as that’s not the case and it’s even been working for others! I have an iPhone 12, so is that why it’s not working? If so that’s so ridiculous! Why can’t I use my computer? They force you to download GettingOutVisits on your phone but it doesn’t even work. Guess I won’t be able to see my husband’s face until he gets out. GettingOutVisits needs to be reported and taken down for good. It is so wrong that so many people have had to suffer at the hands of an app that promises results but doesn’t work in the slightest.

First it’s doesn’t explain you have to p it money on both your account and the inmates account to cross communicate! I have an iPhone 12 Pro and the video app did not work. I received notice of an incoming call and when tried to answer received and error! The “test” just pops up with a photo “your device is not compatible update your browser” it’s an app??? The only way I can see my loved one is if I call her through my computer and then I have to use my account which I’ve depleted. The money in her account is just sitting there because she can never successfully call me no matter what device I use. It’s pure theft. When you call customer service they basically tell you “oh well” at lest advice what devices or browsers actually work. What type of tablets are they using in the jail. You know there are innocent people in jail? So why we treated them like trash when they need to be in contact with the outside in order to seek justice?!

GettingOutVisits is a joke. It is so frustrating trying to use it. I have written to customer support over and over and been on hold till I finally hung up. I email telling them exactly what is wrong and get back a rude email saying I didn’t send enough information so call customer service which never goes through either. What a waste of time. They don’t address the issue at all. I try writing an email and a pop up appears half way through my email saying you must turn on location services to use GettingOutVisits and then it deletes my email. Location services is on. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled GettingOutVisits over and over which does no good at all. This is the type of app that should be permanently removed if they don’t care enough to address the issues that clearly need addressing. I give them one star. They don’t deserve that. If there was a no star at all option that’s what I would of gone with. Sorry, useless app that shouldn’t be allowed available. :(

Seriously.... don’t bother with GettingOutVisits. You’ll end up way more frustrated than gratified. I think that it’s a messed up thing that they have monopolized a market that no one else can get access to & they can’t even make the stupid thing work. It’s not like anyone cares that you can’t get it to work. They’re only locked up because they deserve to be anyways, right?

GettingOutVisits has very clear & definite issues that are ongoing, yet they have not addressed them. I sat on hold last night for about 40 min total & each time, the online support spent maybe 3 min & finally just told me to uninstall & reinstall. I did & it’s worse than it was! Whatever... I’m done & I’ll just go to the jail for the visit where I can at least use the money that has been put on the account. What about the people who don’t have that option, though?

There are hundreds of thousands of people that are incarcerated that uses tellmates phone service and as much as it costs and as many people that they have to a cell you would think they’d have better service and equipment. The video visit always freezes up on you during the visit, the buttons that are on the phone receiver that makes the inmates uses to call out to love ones are stuck so inmates aren’t able to properly use the services that we’re paying for. They charge you $20 to put $100 dollars on an inmates trust account which is extremely high when western union doesn’t even charge that much! It says schedule a visit and is left pending approval and you never get to have a visit during your selected scheduled visit time! While you’re on your visit someone else can call in and interrupt your video visit which is unfair especially when it’s costing us money.

GettingOutVisits has various different issues. First when the call come through it’s just a banner notification, no noise. I literally close out everything on my phone to make sure it comes through. My spouse often says he trying to call me on it and I never get the calls. It opens inside an internet browser not the actual app. My spouse and I have never been through a situation like this before. GettingOutVisits helps us to sane to see each other’s faces. We both get upset and frustrated when it doesn’t work. Due to Covid the jail is closed for in person visits. GettingOutVisits would be great if it was better designed. Of course the jail doesn’t care about the inmates or their loved ones and how this situation affects people mental health state. GettingOutVisits is his creating more frustration on both ends. Please take the time and fix the errors to help many families see their loved ones.

If in person visits are being replaced with video visits, the least the company can do is make it to where it’s not difficult and works well. The camera is flipped which makes it odd when I need to turn the camera at different angles. There’s no way to flip the camera, which is ridiculous and also difficult to work. The microphone is quiet on a cellphone so you need headphones which is so so annoying. Video calls are always dropping, just all around needs a huge update and could be better.

I downloaded GettingOutVisits to reach my brother, added $30 the first time, it never showed up but removed from my bank with the hour, I waited 24 hours thinking maybe it had to process, still nothing! Added $15 more the next day, STILL NOTHING! spent an hour on the phone with their customer service from them to tell me that I would have to add more money to “see if it worked” that the money went to my brothers “account” at the jail *IT DIDNT*. Per the customer service rep with GettingOutVisits, I still had all of the money showing so when I asked for them to just refund my money and be done with it, I was told “no we can not refund your money”!! DO NOT USE GettingOutVisits! They will take your money and still leave you unable to speak to your loved one! It doesn’t even deserve the ONE star I’m being forced to give

GettingOutVisits is horrible! What a waste! It works maybe 50% of the time & with the corona virus there is no visitation. Prisons are fully taking advantage of the situation and using this subpar app to profit. The company that has GettingOutVisits is also profiting and it is not even reliable! What a sham! It takes so long to load and shuts down frequently then bam, your visit is over. There is only one visiting tablet where my loved one is at for 40 inmates! Like it isn’t hard enough having a loved one incarcerated during a pandemic! It could at least work like it is supposed to! They don’t care about the people looking forward to seeing their loved one all day for one time per day due to only one tablet visiting station for 40 people and then it hardly ever works or visit gets cut short! Utterly ridiculous!

It will let me add inmates to your list, but if you try to do a video visit, it tells me I need to upgrade my browser to the latest version, and suggests Chrome. ??? I’m on an iPhone. So I got Chrome installed, and it is the latest version, and I still get the same message. Besides, I’m using the official app! What does my browser choice have to do with anything? Unless the “app” is really nothing more than a shell over a web page. 🤔

Additionally, there are inmates listed who have already been released months before, and there’s no way to delete them.

Finally, when adding new inmates, it tells me the facility has not approved me. 😡 I already have a “Professional” authorization, and can use the desktop web site without issue.

I absolutely love the idea of being able to video visit!! However, it’s a huge inconvenience when the video consistently cuts off after 60 seconds but still charges at least 25 cents. So naturally you try calling back right. And then again it hangs up but charges you. More than not the video is delayed and skips so it doesn’t match up with what you’re saying. There are times i use the visit now and it says it’s setting up the visit. Then a box pops up stating visit now it not available. Hmm that’s strange it was just setting up. So i go back to use visit now and conveniently (sarcasm) it says i already have a video set up HOW!!!!!!!!! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS JUST FIX IT!!! We’re being robbed blind for the money at least have an app that works!!!!! Thanks!!!

I’ve called and reported that the system haven’t been working for 5/6 days now! I was told it’s my fault and there’s nothing wrong with the system. That theirs others using but she could see all the decline visits!! Oh really but there’s nothing wrong! I’ve tried deleting GettingOutVisits and reinstalling. Made a new account also factory reset my laptop and the same thing happens. I’ve tried on others phones as well! Keep saying failed to connect it works sometimes on my side but it fails when he tries on his side and it’s very aggy. I have kids that want to see their father me that want to see my husband! Come on 5/6 days! I don’t care about the free 15 mins y’all giving out I make sure he has his own money and there’s $27 in there now that can’t be use! Fix the problem and quit blaming me .

I never write reviews but I am definitely writing one now. I would give GettingOutVisits zero stars if I could. Do not use it. It is a total rip off. Do you want to have a nice video chat with your loved one? Well don’t expect to if you’re using a smart phone because GettingOutVisits doesn’t work on a smartphone unless you pay to buy a specific off brand web browser called Puffin. So I said “you know what. I’ll pay for it the web browser.” And I did. Then I tried to set up a web visit and the site says they won’t charge me now, I have to wait until it gets approved by the inmate I scheduled the visit with. Well guess what they did. When he approved it instead of them charging me they charged HIM $7.50! I am a done with the gettingout website and the terrible app. Absolutely ridiculous.

The first few visits were OK then they implemented this feature that blurs out the background and I can't seem to hear my husband or anything for that matter I get cut off a minute in two minutes and I had $80 in my account and I'll say about $20 of it went to good video chats all of the rest was just a waste I've called a few times with no luck I always get transferred somewhere else I leave my feedback all the time they do nothing to fix any of the bugs or errors I don't get the messages from the messaging app until up to a week later the messaging app is supposed to be so that I can receive and send messages so that he knows when I'm calling or so that I know when he's calling, totally redundant.

GettingOutVisits is terrible. It is not easy to navigate a simple action. It takes your money. It finally sends a message I sent three days ago. AND STILL GET CHARGED. Unfortunately the customer service is horrible they don’t understand you and pass you over and over to someone who has no clue about the GettingOut telemate app. The video visits never work. And it also charges you. Once in awhile they will refund you or give you a free visit. I don’t care about the money as much as missing really important moments with my love. Family gatherings and special occasions. I hope they can try to figure out some solution to these problems. Is so exciting to actually have communication with our loved one but is hard when a program is ridiculously annoying.
FIX IT!!!!

Go visits isn’t really an app but a portal to the website. On my iPhone 12 Pro Max my bf isn’t even able to see me. Luckily there is still audio n I have allowed for video and microphone but for some reason the video doesn’t show on his end. It’s the worst service. I’ve literally spent thousands of dollars on communicating with my bf and had poor services but worse than that gtl/telmate customer service is hands down the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I got penalized for a mistake they made and couldn’t even get a credit back to my account because it wasn’t put where it was supposed to go. If I could help it, I wouldn’t use this service any longer.

This more convenient to talk to your love one. The connection on GettingOutVisits is much better than on a computer through the website. The quality is really good on my side, my loved says it will freeze up a little on his side, but that it less when I use GettingOutVisits and the quality is better as well. I’m glad they finally released GettingOutVisits . I longer have to download chrome on a Computer and with the quality and connection better, it’s tops it off. I’m going to use this a lot more now.

I usually don’t take the time to write reviews on apps, but this one is so terrible that I have to. You would think with all of the money you have to funnel into GettingOutVisits to even use it to contact your loved one, that maybe some of that money could be used for app development. When you’re even able to use GettingOutVisits , it’s at most okay, but the connection is typically laggy and the audio/video quality is subpar at best. It often disconnects the call before going through, and of course you are charged for this as well.

It’s nice to be able to contact your loved one but GettingOutVisits is very frustrating to use. I would give 0.5 stars if I could.

GettingOutVisits is a joke and customer service is rude and there is no type of assistances . I’ve been trying to use GettingOutVisits for online visitations and constantly reinstall GettingOutVisits but a pop up comes up stating to download google chrome due to browser been unsupported but how is that when I’m using the GettingOut visit app ? I’m confused and a customer service rep name Brian told me to reinstall and use a different device which I did but nothing work and then he purposely hung up on me when he didn’t have a answer or solution . GettingOutVisits is seriously a joke I know for a fact customer service don’t even know how to work GettingOutVisits they selves .

Although in the description it says that you can use an iOS device, it does not work. It will keep saying that you are waiting on your loved one but on there side they have picked up. It’s very confusing and GettingOutVisits has only been proven to help schedule visits, visits that won’t even work from an iPhone though. I can’t even access my messages from GettingOutVisits , only if I login from my computer. It could be a great app if it worked for iPhones.

Quite literally the worst app ever! Constant problems & unfortunately some facilities have chose this as their preferred app so you have no choice but to be taken advantage of & screwed over. Customer service is non-existent as they are all incredibly rude & have no customer service skills what so ever. I would rate GettingOutVisits a negative if that was a choice because even one star seems to generous. Its sad that an app like this would be AMAZING if they actually pit the time, effort & care into it but im sure all they care about is the money they make off of it.

Rarely works! Glitchy, completely horrid! Family answers, nothing happens. Black screen. App is up to date but it never shows video. It went from bad to worse! Never, ever works. Worst app in GettingOutVisits Store. Thank you telemate for this disgraceful waste of time. Pathetic. Expensive calls and pathetic service. Calls are glitchy and videos RARELY work. Just gives a black screen over and over and charges you for the black screen. Who are the criminals now? Taking money for no service. Seriously, this is a joke.

When it works it works but it’s not working now. Can’t login gives me an error msg when I open GettingOutVisits now. Considering how expensive this is to keep in touch with loved ones it shouldn’t be this slow and lagging all the time. Please fix it

I was super scared in downloading GettingOutVisits considering all the bad reviews it has but honestly, video calling my dad went pretty great! The only downside is you need headphones in order to hear whoever you’re calling but other than that the video chat went smooth, no freezing or anything. It was super simple to use as well! :)

Not talking how GettingOutVisits not working even they’re charging a lot of money for video calls or even more just for calls but they’re also sharing your account information with another people!!!!! and when you complain they just hanging up on you. Horrible customer service and I’m already in touch with my lawyer about their services! I know its hard to not being in touch with your love ones but not support company like this!!!!!

I’ve put over $200 on my husbands inmate account in the past month and half of the time it’s a connection screen that’s black and it will not connect, but will still charge you. Even though you cannot see or hear anything. Contacted telmate with the 30 Minute hold to get the good news, that they would refund me for the time taken, but not been able to see nor hear. And checked my account and nothing had been refunded for a “3 minute call.” Very upset.

I use Apple products for many reasons - privacy being #1. GettingOutVisits allegedly is for ios devices BUT the first thing they require (when you do a test) is to download google chrome!!! GettingOutVisits is unable or unwilling to work off of Apple Safari Browsers.
It get worse since it is the only communication method available from the facility my friend or relative is at - thousands of miles away from home
And worst is there are no alternatives available.

I just downloaded GettingOutVisits of hopes of talking to my loved one and it says it’s compatible with IOS. I have The IPhone X and it doesn’t work. The most that has happened is that it will connect with my loved one but it won’t show anything on my side or his, it will only play VERY low volume. So it’s a waist of time, it’s just like we’re talking on the phone but worst because I can hear him better in a regular phone call. Hopefully y’all can get this fixed very soon
