So refreshing!

I joined in Aug 2021 so I’ve been using obéFitness for a little under 8 months, and it is my fav fitness app yet! I loved that none of the instructors (for classes I typically do) talk about food or dieting, the focus is solely on exercise and movement and feeling good. I love the variety in types of classes, intensities within those categories, different instructors to choose from, and varying lengths for when I’m not feeling a full 60min or when I’m feeling powerful and wanna tack on an extra 15 min bonus Pilates session.

My only complaint is the Replay classes. I don’t understand the point of having (what feels like over a third of the classes are now) classes that you can only do once. Some of my favorites have been Replays and I can’t do them but once and why? Bc they contain specially curated music? No thank you. I’d be fine if Obé cut the music all together if it’s forcing them to make weird choices like Replay classes. I used to use The Class but they also stopped providing on-demand classes altogether and that’s why I left. I hope they get rid of it soon.

But that being said, I still love obéFitness and recommend it to anyone who feels like a novice to exercise and isn’t sure where to start. :)

Love the content but app itself needs improvement

I love the wide variety of classes that obé offers and how straight-forward and accessible the instructors are. The instructors are very encouraging and they make the workouts challenging no matter the level. Thanks to obé , I’ve been able to get fit and keep a consistent workout schedule, something I was never able to do when I was doing exercises on my own. I always want to workout bc of the fun workouts, particularly as obé makes it really fun to work out with friends! My minor complaint on content is it would be nice if they had music rights for replays; the generic music isn’t fun. It’s particularly a bummer that when there are fun themes- like 90s pop-those aren’t available for replays bc of the music rights issue. Other than that, I love the content!

My biggest problem I have is with the actual app itself. I’m not sure if it’s due to my having an outdated iPhone but it is really challenging to mirror onto Apple TV from the obé app at times. If I don’t do it in a certain order, it doesn’t work (I don’t have a problem with it with other apps). Also, sometimes obéFitness doesn’t even start and I have to give it a little bit of time, which is a problem when I’m trying to join a live class. I also don’t appreciate that it periodically logs out you out for no reason. Again, it’s annoying to do that when you are trying to join a class. The filtering could be more user friendly too as it’s slow.

Great instructors, but app needs some work

I’m in the middle of my free trial and like what I’ve seen of the service so far, but obéFitness UI has some very frustrating flaws. 1. The equipment filter when searching for a class doesn’t work the way it should - all types of equipment should start out being selected, and the user should tap on types of equipment to deselect them and remove them from the results, not the other way around. Otherwise, if I only have one type of equipment, the search results just show me classes with that equipment + other things, rendering the filter totally useless. 2. You should be able to adjust filters once you’ve performed a search - currently you tap the filters to go back to search which clears all of them, meaning you have to input everything again and again. 3. obéFitness doesn’t indicate whether you’ve already done a particular workout. Since every class has the same name (also annoying - maybe append the dates to the names?), that makes it extra difficult to recall which ones you’ve done. A simple Watched icon would fix this. 4. The On-Demand section loads SO SLOWLY. Holy crap. Clearly some optimization needs to happen, I don’t know if they’re trying to load every single video possible in the background, but it’s an awful experience. It often causes my entire app to freeze up (I’m on an iPhone X, btw). Really hope the devs will consider fixing these things because obéFitness would be so much more usable.

It’s more than a fitness app!

I'm a runner and I signed up for Obè because I couldn’t run. Legit planned to quit once PT told me I could run....but then something started happening. It wasn’t physical changes that were happening with me - it was mental and emotional. The trainers and community that exist within this platform helped get me back to a place I didn’t think I’d get back to. Long story short (it’s in a Obè coffee talk) Obè did for me what years of therapy couldn’t. This is really the only fitness platform I’ve experienced that understands the correlation between a happy mind = a happy body. The other added benefit is that the community of people here are unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. That alone is worth the membership. From a runners perspective I would like to add that the classes that Obé offers are the perfect cross and strength training for runners. I've been running injury free the last year + and my running times have all improved.

TOTAL SCAM! Deplorable subscription policy.

I used a 3 month voucher I earned as points from another app and at checkout they ask you how you want your subscription to continue after the trial. 1 month, 3 months or yearly. I picked 3 months (quarterly). After I signed up I noticed that my quarterly choice didn’t “stick” and it defaulted to 1 year, so I changed it to quarterly. At this point they charged me the full $65 quarterly fee ON THE SAME DAY MY FREE TRIAL STARTED.

Further, when I contacted customer support for a refund they said “we mention on our website” that quarterly isn’t available for free trials. BUT I had already enrolled in a quarterly free trial. I switched it because of an error in THEIR system. Further, I was never informed that this would nullify my free trial and that I was going to be charged. What a horrible and shameful scam. Businesses like this don’t deserve anyone’s money.

UPDATE: their customer support is total BS and doesn’t even bother to follow up when you question their practices/policies. As a UX designer I am fully aware of how their flow is designed to mislead customers. I asked them to explain/ justify this to me and received no reply for over a week. They just charged me $65 on the day I signed up for a 3 month free trial with my earned WW points and take no level of ownership or responsibility for honoring this agreement as any credible business would.

Love obé but not the technical issues :(

I’ve been using obé for about 3 months now, and it pains me to leave less than 5 stars because I love the aesthetics, the new classes added daily, and the energy and effectiveness of the workouts and instructors - but the technical issues ruin a lot of the experience for me. I use the browser version on my MacBook, and obéFitness version on my iPad.

Offline mode is great for when you’re offline obviously, but it doesn’t have a way to track that you completed the workouts. My “Strive for 5”record makes me look lazy because I did a bunch of workouts offline and they “don’t count”. It’s also still annoying that the schedule workout function on obéFitness doesn’t use details (eg. a link) when adding to your personal calendar (the web browser version does, however!). Replay classes are ironically non-replayable. Also, don’t accidentally swipe out of the workout while it’s playing, you’ll have to restart it. I will say using my laptop with browser version is the better experience, but it should be great no matter what device you’re using.

I’ll keep using obé since I have the subscription, but would love for these little things to be fixed.

Good platform, but…

The variety of routines on the platform has just gotten better and uses all manner of equipment or no equipment, so the odds are pretty good that you’ll find something that suits you.

But there is a reason I can only give this three stars, and that is some of the instructors don’t know how to act professional teaching a class. Melody, Alex, and Dorian don’t focus on the workout when they dress up to match a class’s theme, and their failure to act as themselves both shattered my trust in them and made me leery of working with other instructors, looking for the next boundary violation because it’s principle for me that if you are going to teach a workout you must act the part of a professional trainer…which means no costumes and no gimmicks.

The only thing I haven’t formally done is cancel my account because I don’t want to deal with customer service. But the reality is I’ve left this platform precisely because my ability to trust the instructors has been compromised. If how they dress and act isn’t a concern to you, go ahead and mentally add a star or two to my score. But if it does matter, I’d go to a platform like NEOU instead.

Terrible customer service

So I haven’t used obéFitness once. Well I did my free trial and forgot to cancel. I let it go, whatever I can pay for one month. They also don’t make it easy to cancel. You have to CALL. No canceling on obéFitness . If I’m honest I think that Apple should not even allow that but whatever. The next month, today March 3rd, I call on the renewal day to cancel and was like yeah just didn’t use it. The woman on the phone was okay I’ll cancel your account, I will see if the VP will refund you for the payment made, wait for it, the payment wasn’t even made yet for March third, they were going to charge my payment later in the day. Anyways she was like oh the VP has to approve of it but it is a case by case thing so it’s not guaranteed we won’t charge you. I was like okay can I have their email. She goes it is “VIP, you know like Very Important Person, at obé.com”. Okay cool. So I’m thinking this is weird. I haven’t been charged for the 3rd yet. I am canceling on the renewal day, it shouldn’t be a problem. Oh wait for it. I just got an email six hours later. An email for a receipt for a payment for March 3rd. They charged me after I said to cancel. And they sent a receipt. The audacity.

Not customer oriented- extremely difficult to cancel

I had a free trial when I downloaded obéFitness . After the free trial, I continued my membership for 1 more month, but then decided to cancel as I wasn’t using it as much as I’d like. It was then I realized the only way to cancel was to call their customer service line. Kind of frustrating you can’t do it online, it is 2020 after all, but ok not the biggest deal. I called but couldn’t get through, to then find out they are only available Monday - Friday between 9:30qm and 4pm. I work Monday- Friday 8:30am - 5pm. A great way to keep customers if they can’t call between those exact times I guess. I was a few days late in canceling and they refused to do anything. They actually just made it very clear that this was my fault and that they make no exceptions. I don’t mind paying that final month, it’s just the attitude and way they went about it. Not a customer oriented company at all with their rude customer service agents (and their weird odd hours cancellation process). Classes were good and it was not a terrible price, but I would definitely not recommend based on this interaction.

Almost perfect

Obe fitness is great. My fitness studio no longer offers live streaming classes, and I need something to stay active during the day while continuing to work remotely due to the pandemic. Lots of class options, dig the variety, very easy to schedule, and love that classes are added to my calendar. I wish when I opened obéFitness that the live stream wasn’t automatically playing (catching the tail end of a high energy dance class when you’re online to take a meditation class doesn’t really help the mood/mindset). It’s great that you can schedule an on demand class, but it would be extremely helpful to be able to access the specific class directly from the member’s schedule when it’s time. I scheduled a class, and when it was time to start I had to hunt to find what I signed up for. Kind of defeats the purpose. Maybe clicking from the notification will take me to the specific class, I haven’t tried that yet.

Loving Obé

I have been using Obé as a replacement for beach body on demand for the past month. Their workouts are new and refreshing and the trainers encourage you and hearing my name called out really makes me feel seen and special during live workouts. I also love how they have programs you can work through laid out in their app. All around loving Obé, however one major flaw is that to cancel a membership you cannot do it online or in app. I was going to recommend the free two weeks to some friends but the only way to cancel is by calling a phone number M-F 9-4 pm or something. I’m sorry but this is very unreasonable. It is 2021. You should be able to click a button to cancel a membership. Seems like they may try to get you on the phone to persuade you to stay. I purchased a year membership right out of the gate and hope it will work out for me going forward, but really should not need to call a toll free number. Yikes!

Obé Changed the Game

I picked obé because I needed a great, effective, workout that I could fit into my crazy schedule. The trainers are incredible, and I never end a 28 minute class without feeling like I got a good workout. Plus, $27 a month is cheaper than you’ll pay almost anywhere else (unless you include bargain gyms with no classes).

I had tried some beach body on demand classes before and didn’t like them. Many other platforms will only upload X amount of videos and their not new daily. With obé, you constantly have new workouts to do. The live portion is also really unique, and wonderful to have... I think it really adds motivation and connection.

Lastly, you’re getting top notch trainers that aren’t so caught up in themselves that they feel like they need to be super intense throughout the workout. (I.e. harsh boot camp like feedback or pressure/ overly intense workouts just to show how fit they are, not to provide a good workout for others). They are good at what they do, and motivating without being cheesy or broken recordy at the same time.

TLDR: I was never a morning or at home workout person until I found obé, and I have been with them for over a year. I get up at 4:45am on the west coast for live classes because I love them that much! You won’t find a better product for the price.

Obé fitness classes are delightful…app could use some work.

I’ve been using Obé Fitness for the past three weeks. I love it, and plan to pay for a yearly subscription as it is so much more affordable than in person options. As many others have mentioned, it is so much easier to work out in your own home, they have a ton of class options, and the instructors are knowledgeable and make it fun.

obéFitness itself is a work in progress (aren’t we all). Even though I have the most updated version, it crashes every time I try to open it but usually is fine on the second try. I appreciate how easy it is to cast from obéFitness to the Fire TV, but the class history has not been updating for me for either live or videos reviewed which is the most frustrating as I like to have accurate records of the efforts I put in. If the developers can fix those two things, I would be over the moon!

Live Classes Motivate

Been using for about 3 weeks now and I love it! It’s challenging, energetic, fun, great music choices, appealing to the eye! I don’t have a huge space to workout in and this proves that you don’t have to.
There is something about being live and having the trainers saying your name and motivating you when you want to give up! Also, having a class time motivates you to be ready to go at a certain time.
To the points I just mentioned, the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I wish there were live classes that went through the lunch hour and possibly evening classes for people on the west coast.
The on-demand options are great since I have a random schedule, but I find myself doing more of those because of class times catering to Eastern Standard Time. I would like more options to do a live class since that’s truly what makes this unique.
Other then that small thing, highly recommend!

Keeps me Motivated, and Gets the Whole Family Moving!!

I’d honestly give it 10 stars. I joined the Obé fam almost a month ago, and I absolutely love it. The last couple years have been a series of me starting a workout program and then not following through after a week or two at most. With Obé, I’m only 10 classes away from completing a 30 day challenge, and I’m still hyped & motivated to keep going! It’s easy to sign up, it’s affordable, There are classes suitable for kids which is great for my 7-year old too since we’ve been cooped up for the past year! And it’s super easy to stream from your phone or computer to the TV- and the in-class shout outs are super motivating! I’m so glad I found this, it has been a life changer, and I can’t wait to see how much more it improves my life & my family’s!

Obé changed my life

I don’t write reviews for apps but I had to stop and give this one a special shoutout. I recently celebrated my 1 year Obé-versary and I’m so proud how different my life is now than in the past. I struggled for the prior 10 years to get into a consistent exercise routine that worked for me. Obé has made it so easy to dive into fun & engaging workouts every day, and the variety keeps it fresh & interesting. I do have favorite instructors but I also like playing wild card and picking random classes to jump into on a whim. You really can’t get this variety in any other place. I love being able to workout at home in the privacy of my living room without feeling self-conscious at an in-person group class. I am never going back to the gym!

Love it but fix the app!!!

Please fix obéFitness . The music in most replay classes is overwhelmingly loud where you cannot hear anything the instructor says. When time is limited as is, this is very frustrating to have to go open multiple classes to find one that plays at an appropriate volume for both music and instructor.

Further, when a Live class is done, obéFitness and screencast refuses to close. So even when I exit the Obé viewer on my TV, it continues to play into the next class until I have to restart my entire TV system. Additionally, the current live class happening will randomly begin playing on its own either interrupting what I actually have playing on the TV or if I am not using the TV, will scare me out of my seat (I work from home). This is a nightmare. Please fix because I truly LOVE the classes you offer!!!!

Predatory Billing

obéFitness itself is pretty typical, though imo there are better apps with similar platforms at rhe same price point. My main issue is billing - I signed up months ago under a 2 months for $2 promotion to try it out and made sure to cancel immediately, which is always the first thing I do when signing up for a trial. Several months later, I'm still being billed. Went to see what was going on and cancel AGAIN (I had to redownload obéFitness as I'd deleted it after about two weeks) and obéFitness informs me that I must go to their desktop site to cancel.
I go to the desktop site and go to "cancel subscription" - only to be informed that I must call over the phone between 9:30am-4:00pm Monday to Friday.
A big thing for me with subscription services is how easy it is to cancel - imo if you have a product you stand behind then you don't need to rely on red tape and sleazy practices to retain customers.
I'd look into Sweat or some of the dance apps for a better experience.

Customer service hurts the experience

I used the free trial and signed up for a yearly membership. I liked the content and was committed to working out. A couple of days after the membership started, I realized I could not get fully reimbursed through work unless I changed to a monthly membership (which actually is more expensive). I contacted Obé, they gave me the wrong information: go to “manage subscription”. Later, I called billing, they recommended that I cancelled the membership and start a new monthly one. They asked me to wait 24h. They cancelled the renewal, there was no refund. I called again: “sorry, I’ll request the refund, wait another 24h for a confirmation”. A week later, I have not used obéFitness on their advice and I got a note saying that they did no refunds or cancellations, so I am stuck with a yearly membership. This is a very lousy way to keep a customer for a year. When the year is up, I will go back to Apple Fitness: great content, much more friendly, less drama.

obé brings joy to my day, everyday! ⚡️

I LOVE obé! I honestly didn’t know at-home workouts could be this effective and fun before finding obé, and am constantly in awe of the instructors ability to lead an energetic, hard AF and super engaging workout while shouting out members of the community who are tuned in live — they make me feel like I’m right there in the box with them! The classes are so fun and I’ve been able to try workouts that haven’t been available at past gyms / yoga studios I belonged to, including dance hiit, dance cardio, cardio boxing, strength and mat pilates. I also love that they curate programs and challenges that I can do with friends to keep me accountable. Thank you to the obé team and instructors for creating this incredible community that brings so much joy to my day, everyday!

Great potential, but basic issues

Just downloaded obéFitness , and love the live classes and the 10 minute express classes all in one. Plus the fact that you can do cardio, strength, or yoga, all in one app is fantastic. There is two REALLY annoying things about obéFitness though ... 1) it operates like an iPhone app on your iPad in that it is in portrait mode when you’re selecting which workout you want to do, and then switches to landscape when the video starts. The people coding obéFitness need to try using it and see how annoying it is to have to switch the aspect. 2) there’s no description of what a workout is covering so you have to trial and error choose. There should be even a couple of words, like Sun Salutations. I hope the developers read this and address these basic issues, as obéFitness has real potential. Right now though I probably won’t go beyond the free trial period because of these items.

My fitness game changer

I’ve never liked working out at home - I always felt like I was doing the same workouts over and over (probably because I was with other on demand options). I tried obe because Katie Lee was talking about it on her instagram and hooked after my free week. Went immediately to annual and have not regretted it!

I ditched my expensive personal trainer, cancelled my gym membership and all other all demand subscriptions. Obe will literally save me over $800 by May of 2020, and at 33, I feel like I’m in some of the best shape of my life.

Since I started in May 2019 they have added yoga sculpt, cardio boxing, Pilates, bounce, had 2 great challenges, added new instructors and incorporated nutrition. Exited for my fitness future at Obe.

Obsessed with Obè

First obéFitness itself. Love that I can access Obè wherever I can take my phone. The video quality has always been great when I streamed through obéFitness .
What I use most in obéFitness is reserving the live classes I want to do. I love that it gives me the option to add to my phone calendar. I use that for almost every class as a helpful reminder.
I started Obé 5 mths ago. I was a beginner. I pretty much step touched my way through my classes. The trainers are top notch and offer great modifications. They are all so much fun and having fun keeps me coming back day after day.
I’ve seen such a change in my strength. My ability and confidence in my self. My whole mind set (and my body) has been changed thanks to Obé.

The BEST decision I’ve ever made

obéFitness and community is seriously one if not THE best decision I’ve ever made.

The trainers are freaking phenomenal. They are 100% real and their energy is contagious. They aren’t afraid to say if they are having a rough day, so you don’t feel like they are these super beings that never feel fatigued (even though they are still super heroes in my eyes 🤩). They are very responsive and comment back to you almost immediately. Whether it’s to answer a question or just congratulate you on your workout, they make their presence known.

The community is something I NEVER thought existed. Everyone is so supportive and REAL and I have found that I open up on here more than I do to people I consider super close to. I don’t ever feel like I can’t be honest nor do I feel like I will be rejected. Because of that my confidence has boosted so much and I can honestly say that 85% of me discovering my true self is from this platform.

I love that they are forever evolving and are ALWAYS listening to our wants and suggestions. This truly is a community and a family and I’m so thankful to be a part of it!

Good start

obéFitness is visually very appealing in that the classes all have a nice background. There are a variety of classes available - which is great bc I am a busy working mom and have trouble getting to a traditional boutique class/gym due to scheduling. However there are a number of annoying aspects of obéFitness /service itself: 1- you cannot easily stream onto a tv. The service admittedly says this is better if you watch on a larger screen, however it is very difficult to connect to a tv. 2- obéFitness crashes a lot. I have been using it for one day and it has crashed at least 4-5 times. 3- there are no descriptions of the classes so it is hard to figure out what to try. 4- Im not a fan of the music choices- however time will tell. I will do a full trial for the week before I make a final decision

LOVE the fitness classes—please get rid of the astrology

I absolutely would rate Obé five stars just for the fitness classes. The instructors are great, there is tons of on-demand recordings for those with crazy schedules, and obéFitness is smooth and well-designed. Lots of different content specifically designed for working out at home or at a hotel room. For instance, the barre classes just added always show the instructor using a chair, which I appreciate.

However. I am really disturbed by the recent addition of astrology “talks” as though astrology has any basis in science or wellness. In this age of rampant disinformation I find it disgusting that a fitness and wellness app would serve as a platform for this nonsense. Because of this I have been searching for a streaming fitness app that will replace Obé when my annual subscription expires because I won’t pay to support a service that lends credence to make-believe.

In addition, they have begun rampant product placement and ads in the yoga videos which is also frustrating. I am already paying $200 a year; I should not have to be subjected to ads.

Please discontinue these practices as I absolutely love Obé’s fitness classes and don’t want to give it up.

Quick but intense workouts

I’m new to the obe family but so far I’m really loving all the workouts. If you think you can’t get a great workout in less than an hour think again ! Not only am I drenched after just under 30mins but I feel like I’ve worked out every muscle in my body. All of the trainers are really good too. I also love the extra 10 min workouts you can do .. I usually just do them right after my main one. So far I’ve taken the same trainers on different days and I’ve noticed new exercises which is very important for me as I tend to get bored quickly with the same moves. Just as important the workouts are super fun too!

By

Classes Need Itineraries!!!!

As a beginner, would be helpful to have a itemized breakdown of all the exercises the live/demand class has with a little picture next to it so people can remember what it it. That’s what I’ve seen in other apps and I like. Not a fan of having to play trial and error. A lot of times I’m only able to do half the video. I feel like I’m wasting a lot of time. Also having ALL the instructors show a easier/modified position to each exercise at least once in the start. We are all at different fitness levels. The instructors never seem to have a problem showing thr intense version of the excel. 🙄 it would also be nice to have live night classes (West coaster here) right now classes start at 3:00am and end at 10:00am

By

Worst program I’ve tried

While not a fan I didn’t mind the cheap background pastel studio set, but I could look past it. My my two main issues are as follow. First, the live classes are scattered through the day if you live on the east coast, but being on the west coast the classes ran from the middle of the night to 10 am. I suppose for a night shifter this may be an advantage. Second, there’s no description of the classes. This meant that, even if I wanted to take a class previously recorded, I often would waist 5 minutes trying out a class that was not adapted to my abilities or desires. I had earned a 3 month free trial through another app and after a month I cancelled knowing I didn’t want to continue and Obé doesn’t even honor the 2 free months I have left, which only reinforces my conviction that this is not a company I want to give my money to.

Amazing experience!!

obéFitness changed my at home workout life! I am a fitness instructor for in person classes and I currently use Obé on my off days for new workout move inspiration and motivation to carry over to my classes! It’s perfect for when I want to get a super toning and lengthening workout in, while not having to venture out into the below zero weather. Having so many live class as well as archived workouts at your fingertips helps me fit a class in at anytime. I not only use obe at home from my TV - but if my boyfriend drags me to the busy gym, I usually post up with a mat in an empty studio and do obe workouts from phone!

Great options

I must say that I joined Obé in July and I was unsure about the whole thing! Especially for $27 a month, but then I thought about how my schedule is. I have two young kids and work full time and to get to the gym is very difficult , what I like is that you can go online when it’s convenient for yourself . If you don’t get the live classes there is always at least two classes on replay, and you can mix up the classes you want to take. I like also that each instructor pushes you to want to work out, I honestly love it and I rather pay $27 a month then for a gym membership that isn’t getting used!!

Changed my life

Obé has changed my life. I have never been so eager to work out or looked forward to working out so much in my life. Not only are the workouts fun but the instructors are amazing. They inspire you—tell you to meet yourself where you are, love your body now, you’re a model, etc. They also connect with you on Insta and the FB group. And the FB group, so amazing. obéFitness itself has also improved greatly even in the short nine months I’ve been a member.
