I have now tried every scooter/bike company in the area and this is BY FAR THE WORST. Trust the other poor reviews and pick another company. I’m begging you.
I wanted to try out these bikes instead of the scooters, hoping for a more controlled ride. These bikes are hard to use with terrible brakes (on all 4 that my family used). The “pause” button keeps charging you, and for one of us the bike got stuck locked while HOPRTransit couldn’t unlock it. My bike’s chain kept skipping and I almost fell off going through an intersection. The handlebars were stiff and worst of all it was extremely expensive. $70 for four of us for a half hour due to extraneous charges. NEVER AGAIN.

First time user…wouldn’t let me start my ride. I couldn’t unlock it yet I kept getting charged.

Fun!

Very heavy....hard for short people to get through mid bars. Not a great bike. Locks you in for $20....no 0ther options for less.

Not sure why this is the only bike/scooter share in the area, wish there were others. No mater what, they will charge you the 30 day plan purchase, even if you select the 20 minute option. So resist the temptation to test this company out, you will be charged the full 30 day plan. I’m really hoping they don’t try to bate and switch with the monthly auto renewal. I’ve made sure that was not selected on my account but that totally seems like something this company would do. Bikes and scooters are also rarely at the location on the GPS. Recommend avoiding this ride share

None of 15 bikes were available for my partner. Your service is awful.

App kinda blows wouldn’t unlock my bike and still charged me. Would give it zero stars if I could

Tried to use this service in St. Petersburg Florida. I’m not sure they could make it any harder to use. Just walk.

None of the bikes available. Finally found one that is but wouldn’t unlock. Still got charged.

System does not work well.

My bike had broken gears and a bent front tire making it hard to operate. I had to find the closest hub spot to drop it off. I want my money back.

There are easier apps to use, dont waste your time trying to make this one work.

Very expensive. HOPRTransit locked up, then the bike wouldn’t unlock so had to restart HOPRTransit , which then charged me another initial fee. It turned into a $25 bike ride. Use only in an emergency.

I wish there was a way to give something zero stars. Literally the worst experience I’ve ever had with a service. Awful awful awful.
by Steev36
Would not end when I parked it charged me extra $$$ also one was broken

You can’t even sign in. HOPRTransit shows a comically ridiculous “verify your information” form with no instructions on what to verify, and no way to move forward. I deleted HOPRTransit.

The bikes are in HORRIBLE condition, barely rideable. Charges you full price of a day even if you use it for half an hour while ive rode on a different bike with a any other company and you get charged per minute. HOPRTransit is dated and buggy. 0 customer service readily avalaible. Go out of business already please youre taking up perfectly good bike spaces for WORKING bikes. Do not waste your time, money and patience.

Horrible product -all bikes seems to be consistently damaged. Horrible billing - double charged me multiple times and charged me when a ride wouldn’t actually unlock. Horrible customer service - when I contacted them directly to let them know my bike was not functioning after riding 2 miles, they let me know there’s nothing they could do and that I would be charged for leaving the bicycle outside of their Hub. I highly recommend you don’t waste your time with this scam of a company

But the bikes are too old.

I’ve been getting back into biking recently after not riding for a good few years now and man has it been fun. I first used it as a way to bike to COPR and then I used it at least once everyday for a week from Monday through Friday to see how it would be and it has a great experience. HOPRTransit is easy to use and find bikes, and I like that I don’t have to worry about remembering where I park on campus (UCSB) thanks to the abundance of bikes around. Lockup is easy as well. Overall, I would definitely recommend this bikeshare, especially if you are testing to see if you should buy a bike to ride on campus! As for the cost, I think that investing in a bike would be better if you plan to ride all two to four years and then after graduating, but if you don’t plan to ride a bike that often but occasionally want to, this is for you!

Wouldn’t register that I locked the bike, wouldn’t let me pause the ride unless it showed as locked. So I guess it’s just gonna keep charging my card until customer service shows up to work tomorrow? Maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow with a drained bank account? Guess we will see. Lime>HOPR

The fee structure is out of wack, we paid $25 a piece for a few miles of biking. When we realized we could get a membership for less than that we contacted them and they told us they would not credit us in anyway, even though we were charged multiple times for rides that the buggy app canceled and were unable to find a docking station because the map on HOPRTransit was not working.

HOPR used to be great, until it forbid me to part in slot (I guess it’s the program’s problem, it shows I’m in the green parking lot but the bike isn’t) 1 minute before midterm exam.
The design doesn’t take the perspective of users. When I lock the bike and it tells me to move, I don’t know I can resume and I find it when I almost give up moving. The bike location update is too slow; and thus even when I’m in the green area the blue bike line is not.
But it’s still the only available option if you don’t want to buy a bike.

HOPRTransit is not very user friendly. Trying to rent two bikes through one app, and trying to pay the $15 fee for the day as opposed to the $.15 per minute was more complicated than it should’ve been. Still not sure how to do both. Upon opening HOPRTransit it gives directions on how/where to ride. But you kind of have to figure out the rest on your own. Within HOPRTransit , there are no options to make any changes to the preset options. We spent 5 minutes trying to change the settings and finally gave up.

There should be security measures for ending a ride. They know most of their riders are under the influence. So there should be a feature to allow riders to end a ride without locking it. Because in downtown Orlando, multiple homeless ppl steal bikes and can ride off with them. There for making the original rider track down a bike to “end a ride” when a homeless person steals a bike from them.

Same bike system as in China however the cost is much more. The time it was recording on my ride was much longer than it actually was for and it even charge me more than the $.15 per minute which was on a sign posted right next to the bikes.
by BaltoLawGirl
We had to buy credits to rent bikes and then I was charged multiple times. Not a fan. There were lots of bikes available and lots of locations, so that was good.
by Fred2968
So the bike is nice wish you had a few more gears handlebars are a little crooked takes a bit easy get used to but overall it worked I think HOPRTransit was great with the try I hope the city of Fremont has scooters soon cause not everyone can ride a bike easy cars still don’t watch out for you
by Choiceweb0pen0
Added HOPRTransit while in Tampa. Seems to have some issues with unlocking a bike. At least one location involved trying 8-10 bikes before one finally worked. If this wasn’t such an iffy process, I might try it again.

Super fun and cheap but hard to locate parking at end
by Jesusnochrist
Easy to use following the instructions, just make sure that you bought a pass before to try it.

Really happy with how easy it was to use!

With over 600 bikes available at UCSB, this system is great. Occasional glitches but customer service has always taken care of me. Very affordable when my bike got stolen. Now I don’t worry about my bike being stolen or broken. The 90 day pass is perfect for students as it covers the entire quarter. I got the annual pass as I can use this in Santa Monica, USF and other places that HOPR is. It’s awesome.
