Camera works, app doesn’t

The camera: the camera is great, looks good at night and does a good job being a camera
CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor : CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor has major safety issues that others have described here. There are times where CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor is frozen and there is no alert to the user. Babies are pretty motionless when they sleep so the only way to pick up on this is to check the time in the top corner. The audio also cuts out during this time so you can’t hear if your baby has been crying. A simple fix for this would be an alert on CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor when it loses connection to the server.
Another major safety issue with CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor is the big where you can’t rewind a few seconds back. When you try to set the playback to anywhere within the last like 4 or 5 minutes, CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor just freezes and sets you back to the time you were on. This is a huge problem when something happens in the crib and you need to see it quick (maybe your baby bumped their head or something on the bars). In this scenario you have to rewind back 5 minutes and then wait 5 minutes for the video to play out to see what happened.
In summary: the camera works great but CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor really doesn’t in major ways that could be a safety hazard. They spent more time developing the picture feature that I never use because I don’t really need 1000 pictures of my baby in her crib. I do need to know if she is crying or rolled over or see quickly if she bumped her head on the bars.
I would not recommend this camera just because of CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor .

Won’t turn on

This is our second CuboAi, we got one of the first models when our daughter was born in 2020 and loved it. That one still works actually but has alot of issues if it loses power and can take forever to restart. With our son, we got the newest model as of 2023 that included the pad that shows you if they are breathing and the breathe rate. Loved it. But it’s been having issues, and as of yesterday I think it got bricked and now seems to be a $400 investment down the drain. Worked as of yesterday afternoon, and then stopped working completely. Won’t power up, and because it can’t connect to wifi, the pad is also useless. Oh and looks like there’s only a warranty for one year, so we are 6 months past it being covered so I doubt even if a firmware update bricked this that it would be replaced, so now I will have to replace it with something else. Will contact support and see if because we have been loyal customers there’s something they can do.. Otherwise I will not recommend this product again, and my baby due this September will not be using CuboAi.

Recent Update Caused Connection Issues

I've been using the Cubo Ai app for a while now, and it was a fantastic way to keep an eye on my baby. However, after the recent update, I've encountered some significant issues. - Since the update, I've been experiencing constant "connection is unstable" errors, making it challenging to use CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor effectively. - Playback videos often fail to load, which is frustrating when I need to review footage. - Customer service insists it's a Wi-Fi or connection problem, but I've never had these issues before the update. My Wi-Fi is stable, and other devices work fine. It's disappointing to see such a decline in performance after an update. I hope Cubo Ai can address these issues promptly because, as it stands, CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor is not as dependable as it once was. Please fix these problems so parents like me can trust CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor again.

Awful camera, miserable customer service

We used this camera on and off for the last several months. It’s incredibly inconsistent. When it works, picture is great. However, for weeks at a time, the camera hardware and CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor will require a hard restart every day. CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor will spin and time out. To reset, you have to scan a barcode on the camera, and it’s nearly impossible to do so without disturbing baby.

If we forget to restart before bedtime, the camera won’t connect to the WiFi but gives ambiguous errors. It’s the only device on our network that does this. We are left without sound or noise monitoring in the nursery. It was extremely nerve-racking when baby was brand new, now it’s just a massive annoyance. We have a backup camera installed in the nursery that isn’t as good of a resolution, but provides piece of mind. I’d never recommend this product.

Regrets

I regret my purchase of the CuboAI deeply. The system is plagued by constant, excessive notifications, bombarding you with alerts to the point of being unbearable. The lullaby feature is equally disappointing: there’s an extremely limited selection, and you can’t even play more than one track in sequence. If you want a change, you’re forced to manually switch it; otherwise, it just repeats the same lullaby endlessly. It feels like a cheap, hastily assembled attempt at technology, and CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor is so slow and glitchy that it’s practically unusable.

CuboAI feels like a total gimmick. The company seems to be more interested in profits than providing parents with a reliable, well-thought-out product. Anyone promoting this is either paid off or unaware of how poorly it performs. I wasted a considerable amount of money, and I think the company should honestly be ashamed of what they’re putting on the market. I wouldn’t recommend CuboAI to anyone.

Bad customer support and loses connection

I’ve been dealing with customer support for a while. I love the cubo camera itself, so much that I got a second one for my new baby. They both worked for 3 or so months and then all of a sudden both cameras would disconnect and wouldn’t reconnect no matter if I reset the camera or changed the Wi-Fi. Everything else in our home continued to work flawlessly on our Wi-Fi, everything from our outdoor security cameras, to smart TVs, to laptops, to iPads, to phones. Customer support continues to blame our Wi-Fi, even after taking the camera on trips to various homes with different Wi-Fi strengths and the cameras still disconnecting. After searching social media I noticed many other unhappy cubo ai customers that also had disconnecting cameras and their Wi-Fi was being blamed as well. Again, magnificent camera, the video quality and night vision is awesome, and we love the sleep sensor pads. But, overall wouldn’t recommend, to anyone, after unfortunately recommending to 4 of my pregnant friends, due to the connectivity issues and awful customer support.

So far a week of disappointment

CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor has its advantages but it’s also extremely unreliable and is missing some features I would really like to have. We purchased two of these monitors and installed them a week ago. The very first night one monitor did not work in the dark although all other features worked fine. We were able to reach out to support and got a very quick response...at first. After following up twice they have decided to switch out the camera for us. But I honestly don’t even think I want to keep these cameras. For the second day (today is now day three) in a row the live feed is NOT working properly as they apparently know and have a notice on CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor but what is the point of this camera if I cannot view my children. I thought the boundary detection would be nice for my older child but this monitor would probably be best for newborns. I have many alerts turned off and on less sensitive and still receive an excessive amount of notifications...usually wrong (face covered, leaving boundary, etc) to the point I do not pay attention to them so they are pretty much useless as well. I also do not feel comfortable or confident in the background audio... I’ve only had them a week and Sadly I’m disappointed.

Incredibly annoyed

Update: This is now the second time CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor has just stopped working. I’m not sure if it has to do with the recent iOS update or not, but every time I try to open Cubo, it immediately closes out. I’ve tried shutting my phone down and it doesn’t help. Please fix asap! I was very angry in my original post. I’m upset again. Cubo has mostly been a good device. However I wish it had an option for a separate monitor that was not your phone. I would love to have two options in cases when Wi-Fi or phones fail. Please fix issue with app crashing asap! I cannot even send help in app because it closes.

——

Original post: I don’t know what update happened but I cannot see my baby! I’m livid at the moment. The account was made on my husbands phone and I guess initially I must have just joined using a link because I have no email that is recognized. My husband has tried sending me links and QR codes to “join”. Nothing is working. I tried making an account and that only confuses it. Seriously what is going on and why was I logged out? I have had no major issues with the product before, but I’m at the point of wanting to trash this monitor. Unacceptable. No warning. To top it off it is bed time and I need to see my child.

Works half the time

CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor works half the time you call upon it, plain and simple. If it’s working, then you have yourself a working baby monitor with pretty clear pictures. No complaints when CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor is working. That’s where the 2 stars come from.

However, CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor freezes about 50% of the time. That is crazy and simply unacceptable for a device that you need to help ensure your child’s safety. Imagine checking your baby monitor 10 times and only being able to view live video half of those times. That’s just unacceptable. The basic function of a baby monitor is to monitor and CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor fails to do that basic function 50% of the time. There’s really no need to worry about anything else like image clarity or other features if this basic function of live video freezes half the time.

If Cubo can solve the issue with CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor freezing 50% of the time, then I would give CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor/camera a much higher review. But that’s the major issue, and one that is unacceptable regardless of its other features. Please fix the freezing issues!

Two issues with this app

The camera itself is fine and I’m happy we got it because anyone in our house can keep an eye on the baby with their phone. But there are two issues, one of which is minor. The minor issue: the rewind and forward buttons in playback mode often get stuck, so while I’m trying to get it to skip 15 seconds, it skips only 5 and keeps going back to that same time. It makes it difficult to scroll through more than a minute at a time without moving the timeline bar myself, but that’s hard to maneuver with a touch screen. The major issue: my app got stuck for 40 minutes and wasn’t working in real time, so my baby spent 10 minutes on his stomach without me even realizing it! I kept watching the monitor thinking he was sleeping peacefully on his back, and that’s because CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor stopped updating. That could have serious consequences. I didn’t even realize he was awake until he started crying for me.

Update: another issue that keeps occurring is the connection is often unstable. CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor also started to make playback video recordings a paid feature, so it makes CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor even more useless. I also can’t get the mic to work, so I can’t talk to my kid to soothe him. The camera is the only good thing about it.

Going downhill fast

We invested in the Cubo about 3 years ago. It was certainly the best product on the market and worked very well (no disconnects) yet, over the past couple of years, we have seen little in the way of useful improvements, yet more and more chargeable features are appearing. Choose one model or the other, don’t charge people full price for the camera then cripple other features unless you pay a ransom.

To date we still use it as we did on day one… as a baby monitor, sat in plain view on the table in our lounge. It used to be perfectly reliable, and gave us some nice automated snapshots, but these days it often disconnects, or when we first load CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor it says it cannot connect!? …and the wall seems to be crippled unless we pay for “ultimate”.

The camera is always connected to our router, and can be pinged, so it’s surely a software issue… plus, I see many other people having the same issues, which previously didn’t occur. Stop asking use to help you fix a problem that clearly isn’t an individual thing, it’s your deteriorating software.

TLDR; The product now costs more in subscriptions, when we already pay a hefty price for the hardware… Also, fix the networking issues! My WiFi hasn’t changed, yet your camera now frequently refuses to ‘connect’!

Janky app

I am currently dealing with their customer support. We’ve had our Cubo for a little under a year now, and it has stopped detecting my baby and won’t detect her coughing or send notifications. She’s been coughing all night and I’ve had to stay up the entire night because the notifications won’t work and allow me some rest. Their support keeps asking me to do all of these menial troubleshooting tasks that I’ve tried well over several times already. I’m very dissatisfied with CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor.
Edited to Fair rating: I had to reset our router a few times and the Cubo for it to work as it should, and while they do escalate to their engineering team, you have to send a ton of information, serial number, video clips, etc to the engineering team for them to look at it. It’s like you’re troubleshooting as an engineer and doing the job yourself. What new parent has time for that? Luckily my Cubo started working randomly again. I just feel this monitor is too expensive for these types of issues.

Buyer Beware

Update - I reached out to the support team and they walked me through steps to re-enable background audio, evidently this latest update changed the method and defaulted it to off. Terribly frustrating, but to their credit, support responses have been quick.

We’ve been using CuboAI for over 2.5 years now, as it was recommended to us when our first was born, and we’ve kept it for our second. Our first came early and we didn’t do much research, just took our friends recommendation and ran with it. In reading reviews now, and after using CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor , I can’t say I strongly recommend it. Like many have previously stated, reliability is a huge issue. We’ve had it crash on us overnight several times, but thankfully both my husband and I run CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor so we usually still hear our daughter if/when she cries. This latest update (2.14.1) seemingly has a bug that’s rendered it useless for me, as CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor noise won’t run in the background. Tried restarting phone and closed CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor out to no avail. Can’t figure out how to revert to a previous version, so have to hope they release a fix soon. For now will be leaving my phone open and on all night. Finally frustrated me to the point of writing a review - beware!

Acceptable

We have two kids on Cubo currently, ages 4 and 1(almost 2). It works fairly well, a little laggy but to be expected for cameras streaming over Wi-Fi. It does disconnect randomly on occasion and sometimes you can’t go back in time to see what happened, but overall we’re pleased. What would make it better is picture-in-picture, making it so you can multitask, see/hear what your kids are doing in the corner of your screen while you get on with other things you’re trying to do on your phone, banking, reading articles, or mindlessly scrolling Facebook, etc. My point is if I have to be tending my kids because they won’t stay in their beds, I’d like to at least be doing something other than staring at the monitor on and off for 30 mins. Maybe that’s just me.

Best purchase ever!

We did a lot of research before purchasing a baby monitor. My husband works in IT, so he looked into the technical aspects quite a bit on many whole I looked at other features. This system far exceeded any others. One thing that drew me to it in the first place were reviews praising their customer service, and I have to say I must agree that their service is more excellent than any I’ve ever experienced (even Chick-fil-A)! I had a connection issue one day when I moved rooms and they helped me figure it out within minutes! I love the video quality which I saw people complained about with the Nanit and other comparable models. The alerts are great, the night light and lullabies have made the transition to the crib seem less, and we feel so safe with this being used to watch over our little one.

My only thing I wish they would have is to provide two wall plug adapters than just one. You have to use theirs so we have to crawl behind the chair in her nursery if we want to move it to another room.

Great camera. In my top 5 baby product purchases

I love this camera/monitor. Very, very clear images day or night. Options to scroll back playback or zoom in. Also options to change settings / alerts. For example my baby is in the snoo at the moment so I have certain features turned off on the camera (for now, until he is in his crib). I like that I can control settings / features and decide what I want to be notified about.
Taking about features, Lol, I used the speaker to actually shhhh my baby to sleep today after I could see he was fussing. I’m surprised but it worked and he went to sleep. So I like that I can talk to him. I like the playback options and how you can go back into the past 24 hours and record and save 2min portions. I also like the temperature and humidity readings. When baby is in his crib will add option to use roll and face covered alerts.
It does occasionally display a message saying connection is unstable. I usually close CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor and reopen when this occurs. I haven’t noticed it completely freezing. Just a slight lag. My Husband and I have CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor on our phones and on our spare/old phone. And it’s been great as we can use that solely as the baby monitor.
Out of all the camera/monitors I looked at getting I’m glad we landed on this one.

I love my Cubo Ai!

I have had my Cubo for about 8 months now and I just love it! I love all the features they provide and it was super easy to set up. I did have an issue recently where it stopped providing sleep analytics data so I reached out to the support team. They immediately got on it and walked me through everything to fix it. After a few days of trying to get it fixed they opted to replace my camera. They sent the label to return the defective one and sent mine quickly. They worked with me to get my new camera as quickly as possible. They were always so kind and answered all of my questions. I couldn’t be happier with the level of customer service I received in dealing with this issue! I have been recommending Cubo to everyone that I know who is or has had a baby!!! So glad I chose it!

Great camera app for our little guy

Camera is basically plug and play with setup being a breeze on CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor . Settings and menus are easy to find and change. The sleep analytics are great as they give you a better idea of what your baby is up to while your sleeping and you have full control to go back and view your child’s sleep habits throughout the night. The cry/rollover alerts and danger zone settings are a huge plus as you have more piece of mind sleeping with a new baby in the house. Customer service is also amazing as you can chat with a live person right from CuboAiSmartBabyMonitor at any time. I lost connectivity one night and a rep helped me log back on.

Lifesaver device

After researching for a baby monitor and trying other brands like nanobebe and nanit, we finally went with CuboAI. The best decision we ever made about this. We got the Safety bundle, the device itself is very well built, and has many built in safety features to give you peace of mind specially at night. It is like having an extra set of eyes on your little one. The feature we love the most is the roll over/face covering. Makes sleep time worry free. It is pretty easy to set up and customize according to your needs and preferences. Please push in more updates frequently so that it keeps working smoothly and more efficient.

Great product, fast and helpful customer service

This product has been great so far. It’s so much better than a traditional baby monitor. We can check in on the baby from multiple locations including Apple Watch. And the white noise is really soothing. Additionally, we took our baby on a trip and brought the cubo AI. There was no wifi where we went and when I arrived I was concerned the Cubo AI would not work. So I reached out to customer support and they responded immediately and helped me use our two cell phones (which did have coverage) to set up the cubo AI in our vacation cottage. Hugely helpful service. We’re big fans of the product and the service!
