Decent products totally let down by pathetic device control software

I have no idea why this doesn’t work with the TL-R605 security gateway.

The device is good but let down by the very poor integration of control. The only way to control locally is web based because of zero support for Mac’s.

Very short sighted in 2021. Come on TP-Link. I thought that you actually wanted to be a competitive brand and not just a low cost clone hardware company. Guess not.

Buyer Beware

TPLinkOmada is far from able to setup and control the tp-link network devices. For example I just spent two weeks going back and forth woth to-link support trying to setup VLAN on an SG2008 V3 switch. After hours and many emails, their support person suggested I use a browser to log into the SG2008 directly. Then I could set up the VLAN.

I just re read the tp-link description provided here on TPLinkOmada Store. No where does it state that is for only minor setup as their support person stated.

Shame on tp-link. So much for commercial quality products. Doesn’t their marketing department realize that having a poor performing app is going to lead to much discontent among its customer base?

Painful

I was expecting so much more from an enterprise level manager. I’m going to delete TPLinkOmada and just use the IP address web interface for the router - at least in there it’s intuitive and informative. 2-stars because it at least works.. but way too painful to use.

Portrait only.

Yet *another* app that forces you into portrait mode. As a productivity user who has Omada as a home setup, it probably doesn’t come as a surprise that I tend to use my iPad with a keyboard and typically have my iPad in landscape mode.

Unfortunately Apple provides no way to force the rotation of apps made for iPad. Ironically, I can do it for iPhone so I’d rather have the iPhone version of TPLinkOmada than the iPad one but I have no choice to do that too.

Leaving a star since I appreciate that they built TPLinkOmada , but it’s so annoying to use; only slightly less so than their web app on iPad. It’s a good web app too, but yet again, poor optimization for iPad.

Features Missing

On older versions, as far as I remember, you used to be able to change a schedule for any SSID you wanted to. Now with the recent update you can no longer update Wi-Fi schedules or pause Wi-Fi SSIDS through the iOS app. You have to do it through the web based console. Please bring those features back.

Decent, but buggy

Interface is easy to use and manage my devices, but TPLinkOmada drops connection to my local controller a lot and always needs to reconnect. Can be frustrating to use and I need to switch over to the full web interface for most features.

Speed of network

Can you increase the number you are allowed to put in for the speed of your network? You are max at 1000. I have a 1.2gb per sec network. The speeds are increasing so it needs to be much faster at least 2.5 gb per sec.

Good basics but lacking features

Needs more wlan management features, but good at what it does. Clean and easy to use.

For example, no way to enable or disable a wlan.

Works good but could use more info

I like how the information is laid out. But definitely would like to see more instead of logging into the web based controller each time. Also would like to choose custom icons to better organize the device list.

Needs to be available

Not being able to connect to it unless the software is running on a machine renders TPLinkOmada useless. Why have a cloud service if you can’t access it unless some other computer is running all the time???....

New functionality needed

The application does not remember client settings in sort and display options. Each time it will reset the view to its default settings.

Good!

Simple and easy to use, can meet all the network management functions I want.

Simple, reliable

Pretty feature rich for an AP management app. I use TPLinkOmada to interface with the AP by way of the management controller hosted on an Ubuntu VM. Works much the same way my Ubiquiti app does for controlling my UniFi APs.

Easy to use

Fully functional and easy to use, would be better if the UI could be optimized

So user friendly even for dummies!

I’m very happy with TPLinkOmada , not a single issue to setup the entire network and manage it, even easier than the browser! High five!

Handy tool for IT contractor

Upgraded client’s network to Omada Wednesday. Installed TPLinkOmada this morning and already resolved an issue from my lawn chair. Doesn’t get much better than that!

Fast and simple

I just set up my 3 access points and OC 200 controller in less than 30 minutes for my RV park. This system is so easy. I previously set up a ubiquiti unifi system that took day s to figure out. I am sold.

Pretty Solid

Everything works pretty smooth obviously it lacks more management tools as far as configurations for each access point, of course the web based version is more advanced but if they keep adding features from the web based it’ll be perfect, tremendous customer support

Very Fast WiFi with a seamless app

I have been selling clients on the Omada system. I’ve been using it long enough to enjoys the updates and how simple it really is to get many antennas setup so quickly. Yes, to do more advanced setups you must use the web browser but that is understandable. Omada has my vote! I am a previous Unifi user that was always wanting a simpler approach for my clients to manage themselves.

Using estimate

It is fully functional and highly operable, solving many problems.

Features

In Local Access mode, the Omada app can manage devices when the Controller and your mobile device are in the same subnet; in Cloud Access mode, the Omada app can access the Controller across the internet so you can manage your devices wherever you are.

Controller mode works together with a software Omada Controller or a hardware Cloud Controller, and is suitable for managing multiple devices (including gateways, switches and EAPs) centrally.

You can manage devices in Controller mode in two ways: via Local Access or Cloud Access.

Compared to Standalone Mode, more configuration options are available and supports to manage more devices in Controller mode.

The controller mode currently supports hardware cloud controllers (OC200 V1, OC300 V1), software Omada Controller v3.0.2 and above.
