The Ioniq is our fourth *EV, and first Hyundai.
Compared to Honda’s Fit EV app, this is superior, except the car doesn’t seem to push intermittent updates while charging like the Fit did. In fact, the car updates immediately when parked and powered off, so it doesn’t reflect if it’s connected to an EVSE, or even locked.
It’ll reflect correctly when manually updated from MyHyundaiwithBluelink , but it’d be nice if it was automatic.
Ford had a ton of infotainment and telematic problems, but the phone app actually worked well. It was quick to load, and fairly responsive. Two traits this Hyundai app, unfortunately, doesn’t share.
Ultimately, MyHyundaiwithBluelink works.
Yes, it’ll forget you’re logged in unless you login, saving your credentials, then quit MyHyundaiwithBluelink . It’s been fine since.
Yes, the load times on refreshes are long. But, your phone is connecting to a server, which is connecting to the car, and relaying its report back. It was unheard of ten years ago, and while it takes a minute, it’s still cool.
Yes, there’s a Watch app, but it doesn’t seem to talk to the iOS app. You have to update status on each separately.
Criticisms include how you are required to set a time for your estimated departures to set off-peak charging options. They should be independent.
Also, the car graphic could be updated. It shows a trim from a couple years ago that’s no longer offered.
In the end, Hyundai has something good here. I hope they continue to develop and refine it.
