Tray one and this app is great!

I am almost done with tray one and looked at a few apps before settling on this one to aid me in my Invisalign journey. I love that TrayMinder links to my watch, I am a nurse and am running around all day and meal times are never a set time or a set length, being able to use my watch to pause and start when o am taking out or putting in my trays has been essential in making sure I’m wearing them enough to be therapeutic. The photographer is great too and really zooms in on just your teeth which wasn’t available on other apps. Can’t wait till I’m done with tray 12 but know I will be using TrayMinder throughout the. Next 6 months of my treatment. Well worth the few dollars to have access to this tool

Mostly great, missing multi device sync option

This makes it really easy to track wear time and give stats across time. I appreciate the reminder option for when you take your trays out, as I sometimes don’t realize I’ve had them out for awhile, or just get distracted. One note, and I see it in another review: it took me a long time to figure out how to adjust the goal wear time from the default 20 hours. (It’s in settings under the totally-not-intuitively-named “adjust color codes”)

The one feature that would get TrayMinder to 5 stars for me is the ability to sync across devices. I usually have my iPad out at home so have been using that as my main device, but when I’m out and about (not that often right now given the pandemic, but in normal times, often) have my iPhone. I’ve tried the “backup device to cloud” and “restore from cloud” options to transfer, but a) it’s super buggy - it did not correctly pull in all my most recent data, and b) even if that worked, that’s a very clunky way to move between devices.

Bought the Apple watch and interface doesn't work

Although the free app does its job with the photographs and time tracking, I was very disappointed with the Apple watch extension. Sometimes when there are iOS updates, TrayMinder doesn't actually clock in and out accurately. For example, I would click stop on the Apple watch and start when I put my trays in, only to notice on my phone app that it didn't register. Also the interface on the Apple watch when the this app is in the middle, doesn't reflect the accurate information of the time that the trays have been out during the day. However it does show actually on TrayMinder . For some odd reason on my Apple watch, when I have it show in the bottom, the circle always shows 17, which I have no idea what that means. So although the free app works great, the Apple watch software is unfortunately not accurate and inconvenient (although it's supposed to be). Please fix these issues and I'm sure more people will be more willing to pay the extra $2.

Good, but could be more robust

I’m currently working through a treatment that only requires 10 hours of straight wear overnight. TrayMinder is really geared toward traditional aligners that are worn nearly the entire day/night. It would be nice if there was an accommodation for this type of aligner treatment (single wear duration vs daily hour total, daily reminders at specific times vs a timer after you’ve removed aligners and effectively “paused” the counter), but one can make due with the current functionality, a little addition and an external manual alarm.

However, one feature that could (and should) be adjusted is the Calendar Color Codes. The red color is currently limited to a lower limit of 12 hours - that is more than my total treatment time per day! Considering this is an arbitrary integer, it would be nice if this limit was decreased to accommodate alternative treatments that aren’t geared toward all-day wear.

Sync Issues Between Devices

I’ve been using TrayMinder since October 2020 for my Invisalign, and it’s been a huge help and I’ve really appreciated TrayMinder.

However, I got an Apple Watch for Christmas and ever since TrayMinder has been so buggy, it’s become a lot less useful.

If I tell my watch I took off my aligners, it gives me the reminders correctly. But when I tell it I’m wearing them again, the reminders don’t stop. For hours I’m plagued with “did you forget to start the timer?” on both my phone and watch, even though both show I’m wearing my aligners currently. It almost has a “boy who cried wolf” effect where the notifications don’t phase me because of their frequency and I’ve actually forgotten to say I’m wearing my aligners again because I’m so used to the notifications being wrong.

I also sometimes have an issue where when I go to mark that I’m wearing my aligners again, it will change the “time out” to whatever the current time of day is, so instead of 15 minutes out it will show 7:28, like I’ve had the aligners out since midnight. This never used to happen until I connected my Apple Watch.

When TrayMinder works, it’s incredible. But the syncing issues have almost ruined its effectiveness for me and it’s much less trustworthy.

Great simple app does what is expected

*Update* (4/5) My earlier battery issue was quickly resolved! As with anything, there are things that could be improved, but TrayMinder does exactly what you’d expect it to and works great. I use it every single day and haven’t had any other problems!

Since Saturday (3/24) my phone’s battery was draining faster than normal, and the battery was getting hotter than normal. I looked my the phone’s battery usage in Settings and TrayMinder is using 1/3 of the battery! I’m assuming this is from a recent update, but I have never had this issue before, and usage shows TrayMinder being a top battery user. Whyyy? Please fix soon. I enjoy using TrayMinder overall.

Great app!! But please address this one issue

This is such a great app!!! I especially
Love the watch app. It makes the aligner journey so much easier when you can control your wear time with just a press of a button on your watch. It took me a while to understand the timers but now it’s a bliss. But pleaseeee fix this issue with the watch app which is quite annoying: when you take the aligners off you put a reminder say for 30 minutes. Before the 30 minutes are up, you put the aligners back and update the timer. But! The reminders to put the aligners back on still come through even after you have updated the timer. This is very annoying!! I’m sure it’s an easy fix so please could you update it!! Then it will be a truly 5 star app!! Thank you!!!

Great App

Perfect app for people that are just busy or just forgetful. TrayMinder keeps me in check and I love looking back at my pictures and really seeing progress in my treatment. I signed up with invisalign online and TrayMinder blows it outta the water. I would definitely recommend TrayMinder to anyone starting invisalign I even showed my orthodontist and he was impressed with TrayMinder and my diligence with my treatment after showing him my teeth selfies. Download TrayMinder now where ever you are in your treatment and especially if you just got your molds and waiting to start. Play with TrayMinder ! I love how customizable it is and i’m just now discovering new things like how to edit and delete pics. Hehe

Love this

TrayMinder is great! It really helps me keep track of my time each day for my Invisalign. I absolutely love how it works with my Apple Watch and can easy pause treatment when I take them out and restart when I put them in! The alerts you can custom are great reminders since sometimes I forget to put them back in... as life is crazy. Also, it is a nice way to show your dentist at a glance how long you have been able to keep the trays in on a daily basis. My dentist had never heard of TrayMinder.. and was thrilled and said he would love if all his patients had this for tracking...thanks this app! I recommend for everyone who has straightening trays!

The July ‘19 update is awful. Add two stars if they fix.

What’s wrong:
-You get an invitation to get a reminder to return the aligners. BUT: there’s no option for turning on notifications.
-Your mandate is to wear 20-22 hours BUT: you can’t easily see how many hours you’ve been WEARING. You can sort of calculate how many hours you weren’t wearing. This approach to recording doesn’t reinforce the mandate.
-Since the mandate for success is aligners-in is the default-mode, it’s odd to trick your mind to comply with TrayMinder ’s presumption, which is that the aligners are OFF and you’re recording time ON. This means that instead of correcting a day I missed recording to include two time-off periods of an hour each, I have to figure out what time I PUT ON the aligners on either end of those periods. HUH? Yes, I have to figure out previous time-on period ended at 6 for dinner and next time-on period started at 715. What a pain.
-Now it shows days I didn’t make updates as pink.

What’s great:
-It is nice that when you look at the calendar you can see green on every day you met the mandate.
-And it ticks off the number of days left in treatment and reminds you when to switch aligners every week.

Parent suggestion (:

As a parent I would like to keep track of my daughters progress, but she needs TrayMinder on her phone for when she’s not with me (at school or wherever, once things get to that point) to put in when she takes her trays out... A way to link TrayMinder on 2+ devices would be extremely useful for parents especially so we don’t have to feel like we are constantly on top of them and asking to see their device or nagging them about all of it.
Also, my daughter is always forgetting to do her chewies in the morning! So a reminder for that would be phenomenal!

Big fan! Better than Invisalign app

I found TrayMinder after a few days of using “MyInvisalign”, and I immediately switched everything over to this app! TrayMinder rocks- the time tracking is far more functional and accurate. You can edit the calendar after the fact if needed which is what the Invisalign app lacked most for me. Also the selfie feature is great, focuses right in on the smile. I found myself struggling with selfies that capture my teeth on the other app. I also love the reminder of how many days are left- helps me keep my eye on the prize ;)

Could use some improvements

It can be a little buggy. Sometimes it takes forever to open and doesn’t register when I have hit pause or go on my wear time. Has affected battery life negatively as well because the timer is always running. I used to like it more when I could watch the “time off” counter but now that freezes at whatever the last total was. The first time I realized this I was upset because I’d used this to let me know how much time I had to plan a snack or other meal and I ended up missing my wear time target for the day.

My suggestions for making this a better app:
1. Tracking time off would be a more battery efficient way to do this. It would also be easier to remember & add if you didn’t have access to TrayMinder to record in real time.
2. Have the clock counting time off in real time so I can check to see how long I’ve had my trays out.
3. Associate time worn to a specific tray, let you average and get stats for a tray. That way if you go to the ortho and things aren’t tracking properly you can honestly assess yourself to see at what point you may need to wear a tray longer.

Fantastic App!

I could not believe that my provider’s office didn’t know about TrayMinder - they were very excited every time I went in for a check up to see me show off evidence of my wearing 21+ hours a day! 😊

I luckily had a very short treatment time - 150 days plus another 28 days with full time retainers. There is literally no way I would have been as compliant and successful without this tool. It’s intuitive, visually appealing, and was incredibly useful for reminders and tracking wear time. This should be standard issue for anyone starting Invisalign! 🦷

Excellent and Functional App

TrayMinder is wonderful compared to others in this space. I tried using the Invisalign app but it’s timer and reminder system was awful. TrayMinder has been a life saver for being able to accurately time how long aligners have been out and track overall progress. The watch app works great too! The ads are not intrusive either, but I’m happy to pay to remove them plus the watch sync. Remember folks developers of great apps need to keep them running.

Great App! Could Use A Minor Improvement

I love TrayMinder. Initially I thought it difficult to stay on track with the timing for having my trays in. TrayMinder helps tremendously and encourages me to be diligent in wearing my aligners for 21+ hours.

The only issue I have with TrayMinder is that when it’s time to switch aligners, it doesn’t allow to start the wear time from the time of switching. It just continues from the previous day and accounts for the those hours, which is incorrect.

Other than that I have no issues with TrayMinder and I encourage all to use it if they have invisible aligners. Just be mindful of the true wear time when switching

Good but app doesn’t like my start time

As others have mentioned, there’s a lot to like here. But there are a couple notable issues:

1) I set my new aligner start time for Tray 2 at 3:30pm. After 5 hours of constant wearing, the clock indicates the correct wear time but indicates that I’ve been “out” for over 15 hours. Just because a day starts at 12am, a “tray day” should start when the user decides. If I’m missing something, developers, please let me know!
2) The time scroller is very janky. It slides up to 10 minutes away from a desired setting forcing me to play with it a few times until it holds.

Excellent App!!

This is a really well-designed and user-friendly app!! I started my Invisalign treatment not too long ago and TrayMinder is really great to keep track of my tray schedule. I also like that I can sync with my Apple watch for $1.99 so I don’t always have to have my phone near me. One small thing is I wish there was a way too add wear time for rubber bands since my orthodontist recommended me to wear at least 10hrs a day but maybe that gets too specific and complicated. Anyway thanks for making TrayMinder!!

So easy to use, love the features, actually helpful

This is the best app I’ve found to help me stay on track with my Invisalign treatment. I use the iPhone app and apple watch app. They usually work flawlessly together. I use the timer feature the most, and I appreciate how easy and quick it is to start and stop the timer, snooze it, etc. I like how I can “start wearing” from one tap on a reminder notification - its not multiple steps. I wish more apps had this thoughtfulness!

Just what I needed

I started my Invisalign treatment this week and wanted an app to help me keep track of how long I have them in. While I could use the stopwatch built in to my phone, TrayMinder provides reminders to put them back it, keeps a day-by-day record, tallies your 7, 30, and 90 day averages, and you can even set it to remind you when it’s time to switch trays based your treatment plan and what time of day you want to put the new one in. I downloaded another tray tracker app to compare, and this one is far superior. I do wish it had a pause/start function for Apple Watch, but it’s a minor thing.

Decent app for timekeeping

Could use a timer for brushing your teeth. Watch sync only works with Series 3 and up (stated on INSTAGRAM?!)

I have a Series 2 Apple Watch and was excited for the syncing feature when you open TrayMinder , it simply says to purchase watch syncing. After doing so, it then says to enable Cloud syncing. Which was already turned on, now it says to purchase syncing again. Checked their support site which is their social media page to find out it’s only for Series 3. Wasted $1.99 on Apple Watch syncing that doesn’t work for previous watches and should’ve been free considering how expensive Invisalign treatment is to begin with. How classist.

Best Invisalign app out there!

For starters this is by far the best app available for people going through clear retainer treatments. I tried a couple others at a time (including the actual Invisalign app) and this has proved to be the most useful and practical of all. I splurged on the $2 to remove the ad’s because they were bothering me but I’d have easily spent $2 just to have TrayMinder at all.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because all it’s lacking is the feature to use my Apple Watch to start and stop wear times. But overall I really enjoy TrayMinder!

Amazing app

For anyone with Invisalign, I 100% recommend TrayMinder. It has helped me so much over the first few months I’ve been wearing my aligners and will continue to use it until I’m done with my program. The timer aspect has been a huge help for me. And I love how it notifies you to put your aligners back in after the length of time of your choosing! The developers of TrayMinder have been making some good updates to it recently and I am looking forward to seeing how else they advance it.

So useful!

I’m only a week into straightening my teeth with Smile Direct Club and TrayMinder has already been a lifesaver.
It’s easy to use and I like that when I take my aligners off it prompts me to commit to how much time I’ll have them off - 15 min, 30 min, 1 hr etc. This makes me commit to a certain timeframe and I get notifications when to put them back in.
I also like that there’s a motivating countdown like 200 days to a perfect smile! It helps me see the end of the tunnel where going to have a perfect smile!

Love this app!

I use TrayMinder to track my progress with Invisalign and so far it’s been perfect. Lets me know how many hours per day I’ve had my aligners in, reminds me to put them back in after I’ve taken them out to eat, reminds me when it’s time to switch aligners, etc. It’s user friendly and easy to edit it there’s changes in treatment or if I’ve forgotten to pause it when I take my aligners out. The FAQ section has a lot of helpful info. Would definitely recommend.
