I really appreciate FAMILIESTalkingPoints, it seems to be a quick and functional way to chat with my child’s teachers, and receive announcements from administrators. It’s easy to use on multiple devices - iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch. My only issue with it is that often I’ll get a notification on my phone that I have a message from a teacher, and when I click on the notification FAMILIESTalkingPoints will open and tell me that something’s wrong and I won’t be able to see the message. I then force quit FAMILIESTalkingPoints and open it again, and then I’m able to see the message. But something funky is going on there.

This is my 1st year using TalkingPoints and I have had zero issues. I really like being able to contact my children’s teachers without having to search for their email and hope that I actually have it. It has also made it nice to be able to have all the communication saved and in one spot to be able to go back and reference.

Last minute changes and reschedules have never been smoother. It’s great the kids love that we can contact their teachers outside the educational platform they’re using online. As remote students, I think it makes it easier for them - makes them feel like their teachers really know them.

I am not sure what is happening with FAMILIESTalkingPoints now but something has gone wrong. I have experienced delays with FAMILIESTalkingPoints where I can see the notification/preview for a message but when I open FAMILIESTalkingPoints the message is not there.
Now, literally every time I receive a message I am being asked to set up my account again. Not only is this annoying but it is unproductive.
My child’s school chooses to use FAMILIESTalkingPoints for communication but at this point I’d rather email. Please figure out what this bug is and fix it.

Very convenient and simple! Our first time sending off our preschooler and I was a little shaky about the instant communication just to check on my child. I also felt relieved to receive picture mail of my child learning, exploring and having fun.

My kids school asked my to use FAMILIESTalkingPoints. I can get messages from the parents but the school district sends announcements, i get notifications but can see the announcements. I have contacted talking parents online help many times about this issue and am being ignored. Many times without any response. If you want to rely on communication with the school or teachers find a better option. As many of the teachers now just went back to texting me due to the unreliable service FAMILIESTalkingPoints actually provides.

Maybe I’m missing this, but I would like the messages to tell me when the message was sent. An exact timeline email. So many of the messages seem to cometo late for me to do what is required. It would be good to know if my device isn’t updating or if the teacher is sending things out at the last minute.

TalkingPoints was working well last school year, but today and yesterday, with the start of the new school year, I’m experiencing serious problems. In my first attempt to login yesterday, the interface was devoid of text - showed button shapes but no instructions/words. No updated version, per App Store. Problem resolved after I rebooted phone, tried again.

Today, text appearing on both login intro screens and in text bubble as I attempted to message my son’s teacher, was garbled, missing many letters. Once I hit send, what I wrote then appeared complete and legible.

Icon shows 42 notifications, but within app, all that appears are two unread messages.

What’s going on, folks??

When one parent sends a message to the teacher, the teacher can’t see which parent sent it. And the other parent can’t see the text at all. We’ve resorted to taking screenshots of the communication with the teacher and sending them through our messages app just so we both know what is being said.

There has to be a better app for comms out there, but we have to use what the school selected.

I love it because you can easily communicate and ask your teacher a question better than using Gmail. Idk about other students, but FAMILIESTalkingPoints helps me way more and I feel a lot more confident getting my work done.

The basic functionality of FAMILIESTalkingPoints is fine, if a bit buggy, but no matter what I do I can’t get the red notifications in FAMILIESTalkingPoints ’s interface to go away. It always says I have 1 new message, even after I’ve clicked on every message, old and new. Notifications are useless if they aren’t notifying you of anything 😐

I’ve only had FAMILIESTalkingPoints 2 weeks, and I’ve been kicked off twice asking me to sign in like a new user each time. Then I can only see the most recent teacher announcement and am not able to go back and see previous things the teacher has said. I also receive no texts or emails while I’m “kicked off”. So I can easily miss things the teacher is telling parents. Very frustrating.

For some reason FAMILIESTalkingPoints keeps kicking me out. Every time I click it I makes me re-register. When it kicks me out it send my messages to text in multiple texts out of order of the conversation.

Constantly deleting and adding FAMILIESTalkingPoints because it doesn’t open messages. Wish someone would develop one app for all school info

I really enjoy this tool to directly text with the teachers.

It often times is hard to open a message when an alert comes through and is hard to figure out if it is a DM or an announcement. The work around for me is to always open all messages.

This recent update is buggy, keeps logging me out so I’m missing messages from teachers, etc. also it’s frustrating to have all the messages staying strictly on the phone as opposed to having announcements in my email, I can’t say that FAMILIESTalkingPoints is a reliable source to transfer information and find a lot of frustration coming from it. If I had a choice, this wouldn’t be my recommendation

This application absolutely needs a web interface accessible via a computer with a keyboard if it is to be used for anything beyond very brief messages. Typing anything beyond a couple sentences via my phone’s tiny on screen keyboard is painfully slow; this also makes careful edits for grammar and phrasing difficult.

FAMILIESTalkingPoints it use to work good but the past few months it has been sooooo slow to show me a message it takes 5 to 10 minutes to show me a message sometimes I just giveup

I have been dropped from FAMILIESTalkingPoints repeatedly and there is no way to get reconnected without someone at my child’s school re-adding me each time. For example if FAMILIESTalkingPoints loses my data on a Friday there’s no way for me to get back in until the next week and then I may miss information sent out over the weekend. Ask me how I know. Whatever is causing this anomaly makes FAMILIESTalkingPoints useless.

It’s a great way to communicate with My Grandson teacher cause I know she’s so busy through out the day during school an so am I..
it’s a great app to communicate with the teachers on one on when necessary..

Coming from Remind FAMILIESTalkingPoints is a little behind. What should be fairly easy to change is not so easy here.

FAMILIESTalkingPoints keeps saying that I need to check my internet but my internet is fine! FAMILIESTalkingPoints is really not good.

After last update it either crashes all the time and won’t open or it requests my phone number again and then says I’m not connected to the internet. Funny I have no trouble with any other app running and connecting to the internet. Would be nice if they just went back to the previous version so I can continue to use FAMILIESTalkingPoints to communicate with my child’s teachers!

Since last update, i can’t use FAMILIESTalkingPoints . It freezes and crashes immediately after opening. Now i have no way to communicate with my children’s teachers.

Couldn’t even set it up - when entering my phone number and requesting a verification code, it kept giving me some stupid message about giving my number to the teacher. Huh? More app garbage from incompetent developers.
