The user interface is counter intuitive. I was trying to rely on the map to navigate, but if I accidentally touched the fantasy spring side, it rotated 120 degree. I had to find which direction I was heading to again. Once I reserved a ride, I had no clue the location of the ride on map. The reservation page sometimes didn’t open and popped out error message “ssl cert not available”. I guess the guy who coded this error message assumed kid must know what ssl cert is. It must be too hard for the developer to catch the exception and raise exception with more user friendly error message. Apparently the booking feature doesn’t scale. It asked me to wait for 20 mins before I can access booking page. Once I opened the page, there was only two restaurants to reserve. This is not even an app for general public. It is a shame on the developers that TokyoDisneyResortApp cannot handle to load from just people inside the park.
Good luck buying tickets with TokyoDisneyResortApp, especially if you are using a non-Japanese credit card. It’d be mildly annoying except for the fact that you can no longer buy tickets at the gate or through Lawson’s, so you either have to use TokyoDisneyResortApp or a random 3rd party broker. And TokyoDisneyResortApp doesn’t work. Kafkaesque, indeed. Isn’t Disney one of the world’s biggest companies?
Overseas visitors to Japan using foreign credit cards do NOT use TokyoDisneyResortApp. When trying to buy tickets the transaction will fail with an error BUT your credit card will still be charged!!! Even though you never received the tickets. We ended up with charges to multiple credit cards thinking the issue was with the cards and now have to dispute every charge.
TokyoDisneyResortApp is a disgrace and utter garbage and should come with a warning for overseas visitors that only domestic Japanese credit cards will work or should be removed from the Apple app store. Thanks Disney Japan for a horrible experience and for NOT allowing us to visit Tokyo Disney. Give overseas visitors other options to be able to buy tickets since TokyoDisneyResortApp is completely useless!!
Visitors are not able to access fast pass or Disney Premier prior to entering the park. My family and I woke up early to be in line before the park opened. I was going to try and get one of each kind of ticket. When I got past the entrance, all of the fast passes were already sold or simply did not load on TokyoDisneyResortApp . For premier, I had to authenticate my purchase before the transaction would go through and it did not use the Japanese number I have assigned to the account- it wanted to verify through an old out of country number. Needless to say, I did not get any reserved tickets for rides. Now I cannot even enter fantasy springs- because you need either priority or fast pass to enter.
Terrible process and app.
This Tokyo Disney app is a full box of rubbish. Trying to use it feels like you're getting sprayed by a squad in Pleasant Park, no matter what you do. The navigation is like getting stuck in a full piece—you can’t get out and it’s just frustrating. The wait times are as bad as getting 200 pumped in a build fight—completely off, and you’re left waiting around like a bot. The map’s about as useful as trying to build in Lazy Lake with no mats. And the food ordering? It’s like trying to heal in a 1v4—you get boxed in and can’t even get a break. Every time you try something, TokyoDisneyResortApp just lags out like you're stuck in Risky Reels with no shield. Overall, TokyoDisneyResortApp’s a massive L, mate. It’s like playing Fortnite but getting eliminated straight away. Just don’t bother.
TokyoDisneyResortApp is not great. Because wait times are ridiculous at this park (they could benefit from the line management from Disney - in case you didn’t know, Tokyo Disney is not run by Disney but it’s been somewhat franchised out) we wanted to get fast passes for the rides that already had 80+ minute wait times. For those, you have to pay 🙄 and what’s more ridiculous is that when my husband or I tried using our credit cards, we kept getting a “there are spaces in your name on your account” error message. First of all, why is this even a thing? I then wrote out my name exactly as it’s listed on my Disney account and I still received the same message. What a waste.
TokyoDisneyResortApp deserves 0 stars. Whoever is behind TokyoDisneyResortApp deserves whatever is less than 0 stars. Insane to force people to use a product that barely works and is cumbersome at best when it does. Has to “load” data every time you open it and if god forbid you skip that (because otherwise it may never open) you’ll get a big ugly banner that says “all data hasn’t been loaded.” Which then begs the question of WHAT DATA. The map? Which is also horrible. What the lines are like at restaurants? Give me a break and give everyone else a better experience.
Me and my mom tried using TokyoDisneyResortApp to purchase tickets for one day during our trip. It was kinda buggy and slow but the biggest problem was purchasing the ticket. We tried 2 credit cards and 1 debit card only to encounter an error sign. Both me and my mom tried using out own account to purchase a ticket only to yet again encounter the error sign. After deciding to purchase out tickets through KLOOK were we able to finally get tickets for Tokyo Disney Sea. For all the trouble to get a tickets it was stressful. Mainly since we want to make sure we will be getting refunds for the failed attempts. (My mom got text notifications on the failed ticket purchases amount making it seem like the payment did go through when in reality it didn’t)
I regret downloading and putting my information into TokyoDisneyResortApp. You would think a major company like Disney would invest more R&D into something hundreds of thousands even millions of people would use. TokyoDisneyResortApp so so buggy, I can’t even check my bookings to upload my ticket without having to “Revise my account details” over and over again and still not getting to the next page. You can’t even edit or remove a payment method. So. Many. Bugs….
Really rough interface. Slow to load even if you’re just planning to look at the Home Screen map or wait times. Booking restaurants is nearly impossible, as it takes you through a few different screens that each have their own loading / waiting time. Then the search criteria resets itself, so you need to start all over again. As a user, plan to spend 3-5 minutes more using TokyoDisneyResortApp vs. the other Disney park apps!
TokyoDisneyResortApp crashes like crazy, it’s difficult to navigate, it’s different from their US version, you have to wait in line on TokyoDisneyResortApp for basic things like making food reservations just for it to crash dozens of times consistently losing your place and time for reservations, still haven’t got it to work an hour later. It’s a piece of junk and Disney should be ashamed. They can do better.
Its the worst app for wayfinding in the park. We had to use google maps. Even if you are on map view it just keeps turning making it more difficult to use. The purchase of premier was also a challenge. Would be available then error. We feel like we missed out on so much bc of TokyoDisneyResortApp issues. By far, one of the worst apps ive used in recent memory.
TokyoDisneyResortApp was not useful in Disney Sea and unfortunately because of a lack of signage we were dépendant on this awful app all day.
It rarely loaded and when it did it was extremely slow despite us having strong cell coverage.
I love TokyoDisneyResortApp for buying tickets, setting up priority passes etc. But one thing you should consider changing is the location icon in the map. It is very difficult to determine which direction you are facing when trying to move around the map. A simple arrow or pointer would be better.
y’all don’t understand how long i’ve been waiting for TokyoDisneyResortApp!!! living in Hokkaido but my heart at Disneyland 😭
TokyoDisneyResortApp is just as clean and cute as both the Disney World and Disneyland apps! I’m excited to be able to use this at the parks, thanks!!
It is a bit slow and clunky purchasing a day pass, but be patient. Once you are past that it works great! Wait times are actually a bit faster than what’s shown. It will make your visit more enjoyable.
Not sure why all the negative reviews. Used Klook to buy Disneysea tickets and once I got to the park linked the tickets to TokyoDisneyResortApp. Everything worked perfectly; reservations, premier access, map overview, priority pass.
TokyoDisneyResortApp is really good but if you do not live in Japan it might be hard to buy tickets and will need to find a work around. Maybe check out a travel forum for more help. The only card that worked was a Wells Fargo card but I had to call my bank prior to the purchase to make sure it wasn’t flagged as fraud. Aside from that TokyoDisneyResortApp is really helpful and easy to navigate your visit.
TokyoDisneyResortApp worked great for two days at Disney Sea and one day at Tokyo Disney. We didn’t purchase our tickets through it but once I had our physical tickets I scanned them into TokyoDisneyResortApp . I easily added my husband to our plan for the day and he was able to access everything as well. We used Mobile Order multiple times a day to order snacks and meals and never had a problem. I was skeptical given the other reviews but we didn’t run into any issues with our credit card.
People that give it 1 star are not tech savvy and just want to complain about everything. It’s an easy app to navigate. Yes it does rotate but it’s not the end of the world.
