Who designed this…

Salve is the least intuitive, most confusing app ever which is terrifying considering it is a portal for medical communications, legal documents and information. Here are just some of my top issues:
1. The info tab has information but also documents. It is not searchable or easy to read. There is a documents tab that does not house all the documents needed.
2. You have to go to settings to EngageMD to see outstanding documents which is completely not integrated.
3. I have to chat with my clinic constantly to see what’s outstanding and the messages have no subject line. I have a bunch of messages from the same person and have to search through each individually to find information.
4. Home just shows an upcoming appointment but doesn’t let me schedule from here or see my past appointments.

Can't send a message on web

Salve is super annoying. There's no way to write a message using the web portal. I don't want to type on my phone. I want to actually be able to read an entire message without scrolling and type using a real keyboard. 1-star for a subpar web experience and forcing everyone to use the mobile app.

The clinics who use this don’t understand the pain they are causing

You’re probably using Salve because you’re forced to by your doctor. I’m sorry for what you’ll have to go through.

In order to access medical care, you have to beta test Salve. It will frustrate you at every turn. There are no subject lines for messages so you can’t track conversations. There’s no web version so it’s extremely difficult to do basic things like upload documents. Accessibility is non-existent.

You are an afterthought, an inconvenience, a box to be checked and not a person to be considered. Your medical care is a product for this company to sell, and they will profit at your expense. Their margins have to come from somewhere.

Unacceptable end user data requirements

A totally violating and all around inappropriate app. My fertility clinic requires Salve and it’s quite clear no one ever read through the data release that users must agree to prior to creating an account. this app support will tell you that they pseudonymize data and provide no option to opt out of any data sharing should you be uncomfortable with unknown sources or app marketers having access to your data under a different name. As though the infertility journey is not already invasive enough, apparently we also must relinquish our data to developers who have access to everything from the backend for who knows what gain to this app.

Incredibly difficult

Using Salve is a terrible experience. It's forced on you by the fertility clinic, which requires you to do everything through Salve . It's extremely difficult to go through detailed medical and financial information in text message format on a small screen, and almost impossible to read any documents. The UI isn't intuitive. There's no effective onboarding. My partner is unable to log in and review anything on his phone. Ultimately, Salve is making the already-stressful experience of fertility treatment worse :(

Frustrating and impersonal

I hate that my clinic requires Salve. They didn’t when I started with them and if they had, I would have chosen another clinic because it feels cheap and crappy to pay huge amounts of money for fertility treatment to then use a crappy app for all important communications! I have many complaints about this, but the latest is that it won’t let me login for tonight’s medication information and the helpful email address that pops up in the error message is only staffed during UK business hours… great for a U.S. patient.

Inconsistent and impersonal

Salve is so frustrating. I’ve had to use it because my clinic required it and it’s been nothing but a headache. I recently sent a message to the nurse using it only to get an important reply from back that I have not be able read because it won’t let me log in. It keeps giving me errors. This is not the first time, either. I find it extremely impersonal for the type of content shared and experience I’m going through. I wouldn’t wish Salve on anyone who is going through fertility treatment.

Absolutely terrible

I truly hate that my clinic switched to Salve. It’s nearly impossible to find previously provided information because there are essentially no search functions, and there is no logic guiding what information goes where. The one redeeming feature is checking off my meds each day. But that’s certainly not worth the torture Salve puts me through when I want to look at my aneuploidy results from my egg retrieval two years ago! Seriously, **** Salve.

Completely awful

So bad that I’ve complained to the company forcing me to use it. No discernible grasp of modern software engineering paradigms or user experience patterns. The people responsible are out of their depth in every conceivable sense. Example: upon installation, I was instantly given a dozen notifications for messages which are between three and eighteen months old. The only way to mark them as read is to individually access them. Ridiculously bad. No excuses for this in 2024.

Frustrating Experience

It is incredibly frustrating to be working with my fertility clinic through Salve. I prefer to use a desktop computer for important communications, file uploads, and virtual meetings with my doctor. To only have access these services through a mobile app makes me want to change doctors to one that utilizes a desktop friendly platform.

Clearly not working fast enough on joint messaging

Like a previous review stated, it is incredibly frustrating to not have 3 way messaging available. This leaves one party out of the loop between all communication with the provider or patient navigator. They are an equal part of this process and should be treated like it. Make it a higher priority. This process is hard enough, don’t make it harder.

phone only

mobile app is ok but the huge bummer is that I can't use Salve on my desktop or even sign in via browser. My clinic often requires documents to be sent and long messages that I have to type on the mobile app. The apps design and speed could use an upgrade.

Frequently cannot log in

Probably 50% of the time, when I go to log into Salve , I simply cannot. Instead of logging me in, the login page refreshes. This seems most likely to happen when I've just noticed a message from my provider. Quitting and restarting Salve doesn't help.

I'm using Salve on an iphone 14 Pro running iOS 17.4.1. Typically, I login with face ID, but typing in my login doesn't fix the issue - I just get an error message.

Doesn’t actually tell you where your appointment is

Salve is great at endlessly pestering me about training slides, but can’t tell me where an appointment was made. Currently scrambling across Denver to the other clinic!

Decent app

Don’t often write reviews but my wife and I have relied heavily on Salve for treatment information and speaking with our clinic. It’s been very useful.

Updates!

They’ve listened to their users and the new updates are much better!

Streamlines fertility care

I love being able to have all of my patient information and content in one spot. I used to have to use 3 different platforms and this simplifies everything

What an improvement over the previous patient portal. Actually get to speak to staff using the messaging system. Would recommend

Good experience and attentive customer support

Our clinic made us use Salve but it’s actually a good experience. Had an issue with 1 minor thing but customer support was rapid and pointed me in the right direction.

Streamlined Communication

I loved using this tool to communicate with my clinic. So much better than trying to stay on top of email threads!
