About a week ago I ordered 4 books on chegg to rent. The books were too expensive for me and I was fired for not being able to work as many hours because of college, so money is tight for me at the moment. I did some research and I found chegg. It was really helpful and I planned on using it for next semester as well. I’m not sure about this any more though because I had issues with 3 of the textbooks. My English textbook unfortunately came in a messed up box which was fine as long as the books were okay. Unfortunately only one of the books were okay while the other book had a bent cover and certain pages ripped. I went through the book to see if the passages I needed for the course were okay atleast but some of the pages were sticky inside and others were folded so reading the book alone is very uncomfortable and uneasy. My two ASL books I had issues with as well. One had parts of the cover torn and they both had none of the dvds included. I’m not sure if that’s how all the rental books are but had I known that I would have not rented them at all. I need those dvds and now I have to buy them elsewhere. The awkward part is that I recommended chegg to a friend of mine that was also fired for the same reason and I’m hoping he doesn’t go through the same thing. The ironic part is that the only book that was fine was the extra book I accidentally ordered.

My first time ordering from Chegg in my four years of university. Never again.
This is the worst e-reader app ever. It is uncomfortable to use, pages are missing and do not load, and the page change animation is horrid. I have more criticisms but these are the most prominent. I expected more from Chegg. Not to mention the books are expensive and you can’t even read them. If there was any other option to buy the e-book I need for class I’d use that instead. Unfortunately, Chegg is the only service in which it is available. If you can, use Google Books or Kindle instead. Those are the best choices for your e-books. Edit: why are people rating their physical chegg orders on CheggeReader’s reviews? It’s skewing the rating big-time.

I’ve been a loyal customer to Chegg for about a few years or so and I’ve been satisfied with their services from using their mobile applications for renting & reading ebooks to using Chegg Study. Since last Spring semester (2020), the experience for their e-reader has been optimal and I planned to use their services again this Fall semester (2020). The time came and there was an update to their UI for their e-reader and the experience went from optimal to rock bottom. It was nice to be able to swipe left or right to turn pages but I needed to tap left or right and it didn’t tell me that at the beginning after I updated CheggeReader —it didn’t tell me any UI changes at all (besides the obvious look change). The old UI was more user-friendly that the current one that Chegg has at the moment. There’s an old adage: “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.

I bought this subscription to help with my take home philosophy exam because my questions weren’t already answered on chegg. I type my question in and go to select subject and there isn’t philosophy funny right? Yeah maybe if you had 15 dollars to waste, I literally cannot stress how annoying this was like I planned to find this money elsewhere like walking dogs or covering someone else’s shift neither of which I have any time for! 15 dollars might not seem like a lot for many people but for me it definitely is myself including my 3 other siblings are all in college rn and clearly my parents aren’t able to support us all so here I am ranting about this subscription that is useless to me because it didn’t have any other subjects I have courses in either instead of doing this sad test thank you for making my life even harder and making me $15 poorer.

I am pretty disappointed with how CheggeReader operates on my iPad. Every time I try to “turn a page” it takes forever to load. There is also no way to simply go to a specific page. An update to this would be great. Seems pretty basic features are missing for an ereader. Also whenever I search something the text that shows up as results is riddled with symbols and emojis. If the e reader is going to remain this poor, an option to access an ebook a different way would be helpful.
There is a feature on the iPad to have a window in window view. However the e reader doesn’t work for this feature. It would be really great to be able to have my ebook up in a small window over CheggeReader I use for taking notes.

Your feedback email link is dead. Great customer service. NOT!
The most recent update to the eReader app has resulted in my inability to zoom in and out of a single page, AND I cannot scroll up and down within a single page. I attempt to scroll within the page (can’t do it - non responsive to touch), pinch to zoom out (does it, but immediately reverts back to original size), and try both in landscape mode (doesn’t make a difference). I’ve been using CheggeReader on the same device since the end of August with no problems.
When I chatted with customer service on the webpage, they were extremely condescending in tone: “It’s working on my end. I can scroll up and down.” Well, I CANNOT and I’m paying for the subscription. PLEASE FIX THIS BUG!

CheggeReader is not all bad, I am able to access my textbooks either through my phone or pc. But it can be very glitchy, from turning a page or wanting to return to the main menu on mobile. One big problem is highlighting!! It only lets me highlight words from the top of the page because if I try to scroll down and highlight something it sends me to the top again without letting me finish. Ive had that problem with using my pc but I used my phone and have been able to highlight at the bottom. Using both platforms have the same problem let’s say I want to highlight a paragraph but it won’t let me highlight some of the words for some reason and even if i am able to highlight it ( before choosing a color) after I choose a color half the paragraph is missing after??!! CheggeReader definitely needs bug fixes it is just so frustrating to use.

CheggeReader , while functioning, is good and relatively easy to use. But for some reason, in recent weeks, I am never able to log on to my account through CheggeReader . It prompts me with a message saying that safari cannot find the link to my google account. And when i go to manually enter my account information, i still can’t log on. Even after switching my default browser to chrome nothing changed. I have attempted many things from updating all other apps including this one, checking for system updates, going in to make sure the browser is still defaulted to chrome and nothing helps. I’m just going to use the web browser to read through Chegg. That is the only thing that seems to work

I was so excited to use Chegg (well, moderately excited b/c let’s be real, I’m using it to read a textbook) but the format for the fe book STIIIIINKKKKS. Maybe it’s just this way with my particular textbook, but it’s impossible to read with my phone upright (vertical) - the text is so small. Then, when I try to turn it sideways, the reader gets stuck and won’t let me go down very far until I go to the next page and then go back. Plus, every time I go into a different window and try to go back, I have to start all over with resetting everything. So annoying. I think Chegg is awesome, but the mobile app really leaves something to be desired. It would also be nice (on both the eReader and CheggeReader ) if you could look up definitions of words, but you can’t.

I was so pumped that a friend of mine recommended me to Chegg! I was desperate to get books for college but I was anxious about the cost. CheggeReader seemed to be a miracle for me! I placed my order around a week ago and my books were delivered today. I opened my box to discover used books which is totally okay! What isn’t okay is that my books are completely sticky, bent, and written in! I can’t even hold one of my books because it’s SO nasty! I’m very disappointed that 2 out of 3 of books were gross. I can’t believe I recommended CheggeReader to my friends. I will not recommend this to any of my friends in the future because I don’t want them to think I have it out for them!
if CheggeReader worked out for you and your books weren’t nasty and gross then I’m so jealous of you! Be grateful this didn’t happen to you.

I’ve used chegg since 2016 and used their ebook app the past year with no problems. The recent update is horrible. I couldn’t find my book for the fall semester until I updated it, it won’t save what page I’m on so I have to bookmark the pages so I can remember where I am in the book, and I can’t zoom in anymore which was something I used a lot to screenshot the graphs and diagrams in the book. I also take notes on my iPad and it won’t let me go into split screen like I need which makes it even worse. With physical books, I would 100% recommend chegg and would use it again, but would not rent another ebook if they don’t update CheggeReader fixing the issues.
by Veewolf19
The previous version of CheggeReader worked really well for me. I was able to highlight just fine, and go to pages from the search, and click the arrow during a search to see other highlighted results.
The updated app however.. is giving me problems. When I go to search for a term, the results pop up, but when I click on a result, instead of bringing me to that page, it brings me to the beginning of the related chapter. It is also not showing page numbers so I have no idea how close I am to the result I wanted. When I go to look at the search results again, sometimes it brings me to the top of the results again and I have to re-find the result I was at. The ability to use the arrows to quickly scroll through search result highlights is also missing, which was one of my favorite features. :/
It’s becoming a big hassle to use CheggeReader , but I’m hoping it’s just working out some kinks right now, hopefully they’ll be fixed before the end of my semester.

Couple of features I’ve been absolutely disliking is that when the books are in landscape mode or split screen, they don’t format correctly, it zooms in and I can’t zoom it out even if I close CheggeReader and reopen it…it takes a few tries to format it into the correct position where I can actually read my pages. I also find that the page flips are really sensitive and can’t move across the page without flipping to next and there’s no settings to fix this. Another thing that was be cool is if there was a page search in the book itself where I can actually type in the page I want to go to instead of selecting the chapter>section from the left menu and flipping manually I usually write the page number in my notes for reference and I feel it’s a bit pointless not to have this feature in an ebook…otherwise it’s an OKAY app. Not the best eReader but it’ll do for now.

I bought an e-textbook from Chegg so I can use it I on my iPad where I take my notes and do assignments. I use the split screen feature on iPad a lot to have multiple things open and accessible at once. I planned to do that with chegg, having my textbook open on one side while having my notes open on the other, but unfortunately, the chegg app doesn’t support split-screen, maybe as some security feature or something. Other textbook apps—like Kindle—do, so I’ll probably swap over after my class ends.
I prefer the reading experience over there too, as highlighting can sometimes be really glitchy through the chegg app.

i’m really enjoying the ease of use that CheggeReader gives me to read my text books for school on my phone. There are definitely some quirks to features like highlighting. It is hard to highlight large blocks of text to save a note for. It deselects the highlight if you choose too much text.
But the most frustrating part is the text to speech function where it skips entire sections that I am listening to and starts with the figure or table that is further down the page. I don’t know if this is specific to this textbook or a common issue with the E-reader, but this is a huge accessibility issue where entire swaths of content are missed.
by Lauurahaake
What would make me happy Chegg… you money hungry thieves is to be able to highlight. While reading the e-textbook on my mac I’m trying to highlight text. I select the text I want with my mouse and upon un-clicking the whole page shifts down and un-selects my text. So now I have to reposition my page and the text still is not highlighted. Also, I ordered textbooks to be shipped so I got a free 7 day ebook. Well, my books haven’t arrived in the mail yet and I’m on day 8 so I still have no books. Also, if I desire to ask for help I must pay monthly for chegg plus? Get out of here. Didn't you guys tell on students for using your homework help answers because they were on student’s quizzes? Why would I pay to get tattled on? Students DONT put your school or courses on your account! Trouble will occur. CheggeReader is fine though, but how it’s run is not.

I love this service. Almost every book that I’ve gotten so far has been from here, and most of the ones I didn’t get from Chegg were wicked overpriced, and upon further research I later find that most of them could have been purchased through Chegg at a better rate.
I just received my package and although I know that they always include a freebie, I didn’t expect them to send five. I couldn’t be more pleased with their service and will continue to use them all throughout my college life, I will also continue to recommend them to my classmates!

I love chegg!! For the same book that I can get at my book store I pay more than half the price to rent it. I ordered a book the first day of classes and was stressing not having one and they sent me an e-copy to use until my book got there, which was only two days later. Returning it is so so easy. Just keep the box and print out the label. I love how you can extend your rental as well. Or you can even buy it if you chose to. I love how they send goodies and gift card with their boxes. I also use chegg study and it has helped me tremendously. I cannot say enough good things about chegg. They are the best!!

If you are new to college, do yourself a favor and do not bother getting textbooks anywhere else. Chegg is the way to go! So affordable, i absolutely love this website/app. They are extremely helpful, and it is obvious they care about you getting your books on time. I have never gotten “no results” for a book i needed. Chegg is always there to save the day! Also, they throw in little surprises in your package and it actually makes me look forward to getting my textbook. Thank you Chegg for making college an easier, more inexpensive experience for me.

Omg so my book came early and the book looks in good condition even though it’s used. I love the fact that it came with a $30 gift card for a food place and a red bull for those late nights. Receiving this package made my day because I was just expecting my book that also came at a cheap price and it came with the book and little extra gifts. I would 100% recommend to my friends because what was so nice is that that they give you a digital copy of the book while your book is shipping over. And if your purchase is over 35 it’s free shipping. I am now going to be getting all college books off chegg

I am a college student and I used chef this semester to get my college books. My books came fast and were much cheaper than anywhere else. I also enjoyed the little things I was sent along with my order like gift cards and a sample.
HOWEVER, upon ordering my books I got a free 30 day trial to Chegg Study. I myself used it once and it did not work for me so I cancelled my prescription on it so I would not be charged again. I ordered my books at the beginning of January and cancelled it later that month. Come February, there was no charge for Chegg Study. Come March, I was charged for Chegg study again. I’m a poor college student. I have bills to pay and now I won’t be able to afford groceries. Thanks Chegg!

Sure you save money on here, but almost every review that I’ve seen says they provide a digital copy while your books come in. This was the only reason I decided to go with chegg, because i needed a copy right away. However, after I finished my payment process (still thinking I was gonna get the digital copy everyone was saying) I never received that copy. I waited an hour after purchase too just to see if it’ll come in, but nothing!

Chegg was recommended to me by my Grad School Success Coach. I’ve been using their services exclusively since I started my program in March 2018 and will continue to use it until I complete in December 2019.
Honestly, these books have arrived on time or early - every time. The books are always in good or better condition. The Apps ease of use and return process is extremely efficient and simple.
I’ve recommended CheggeReader to friends and family. My sister is in a Grad Program and my husband is in his Nurse Practitioner Program; they each use Chegg’s services and are very pleased.
Thank you for providing service and delivering product I can count on.

Being in college, the first things on the list after classes of course are the textbooks. You can either spend hundreds of dollars in the bookstore or save a bunch of money buying them from Chegg. Even better you can rent them way cheaper than your bookstore as well. Why pay for a book you’re not gonna use later.

CheggeReader has made my whole college career 10x easier! While others students that aren’t using this service may spend about $100 on 1 textbook, people like me that use this service spend about $150 for all their books for 1 semester(I’m taking 5 classes this semester). Thanks so much to whoever runs this company, you know what they say, “Not all hero’s wear capes”

I barely started using Chegg because previously I would buy my textbooks from the bookstore at my school, and I was a little nervous that the textbooks wouldn’t come in good condition. I finally gave in and ordered from chegg the book was in great condition and came quickly and so much cheaper then spending hundreds on buying the textbooks definitely recommend!!!

It was my first time renting a book from chegg. At first I was hesitant. However, so many people recommended CheggeReader to me. In total I paid $31 but it was so worth it the book is in great condition. It came super early and I even got a few little gift such as a 5 hour energy and midol pills for them cramps lol. Also with a lot of coupons. Won’t mind renting another book in the future from chegg.

“I’ve been trying to order my books for past couple of days. For some reason the website isn’t working and CheggeReader isn’t working either! Annoyed, I’ll buy somewhere else.”
Apparently they were having technical difficulties but they fixed everything and I will be able to get my books in time!
by @gimmethel00t
Absolutely phenomenal. I’ve saved THOUSANDS of dollars because of Chegg, and I’m not even exaggerating. Not only are they more than reasonable, but they are punctual, caring and organized. I NEVER EVER do reviews, so you gotta take my word for it lol, and everyone seriously needs to but know about them!
