Travel Packing List Reviews

Buyer beware! This is not a shared dynamic database checklist with those traveling with you. This program allows you to assign tasks to other people and email them a static list. There is no ability for others to accept/reject the list, add items to the list, or mark as complete. This is App is not as I had anticipated and has not accomplished my goal while still paying $7. Think twice before buying. Do you really want an App that offers little in the way of truly creating a dynamic method communication?

I would’ve used this on my recent Europe trip if I was able to change the order of what I entered.
So, after entering everything starting with Day 1 through Day 10, the completed list started with Day 10 at the top and ended with Day 1 at the bottom with no way to change it. Being in Europe for the first time, I needed things to be quick and easy for me as I was constantly on the go. So, ascending or descending order and being able to make the font bigger would be helpful to have on TravelPackingList. Thanks!

They advertise it as if you can share lists with other users. My partner and I both paid for pro only to find that you can just email someone a static list, you can’t interactively share and update lists together. “Sharing lists” actually turns out to be the same thing as if you sent your travel buddy a screenshot of your list. It’s basically useless because of that. Everything else it does you can do for free in a phone note, except those are better because you actually can share and update a phone note together with someone!

Was hoping it would auto populate a basic packing list I could then add to. Also would be a lot more helpful to be able to cross of the lists for every traveler individually as I pack them. That was what I was needing to make sure I don’t forget items for 3 kids. I paid extra to add travelers and they don’t even get their own lists. I feel ripped off.

TravelPackingList is helpful but ultimately disappointing. I will say it’s nice to be able to make multiple lists under different categories under the same vacation.
However, once categories are created, you cannot adjust the order they show in. If you select for a list to sow alphabetically, it automatically crushed back after you choose TravelPackingList . Also you cannot change the color scheme. I paid to go pro in hopes these things would change, but no such luck. Like the toddler says, TravelPackingList is useful, but underwhelming and fell short of expectations.

I thought this would be super great at first, and it was, until I realized that you have to subscribe to have more than 2 trips at a time! What the heck! And now that I’ve been logged into my account due to getting a new phone, there’s no way to log back into the account and I’m not making a whole new account that doesn’t have my 2 previous trips!

Unlike other apps it won’t generate a list or even suggestions for you, so you’re inputting the items and categories yourself. So you get a more custom experience but you have to put in the up front work. I’m giving it three stars because of that and it acts like it can email a list but nothing happens when you try to click to email (buggy?). Perhaps the pro version is better? I’m still mourning and trying to replace Wunderlist

TravelPackingList is really good, it has a lot of great features but when I downloaded it I thought you could collaborate on TravelPackingList and lists with other people that have also downloaded TravelPackingList. I bought the pro version and also bought it for another person thinking we could both add to the list and each see what each other had added and packed. I was sad to realize that is not a feature on TravelPackingList. That was pretty much the big deciding factor of downloading and upgrading TravelPackingList. This would be a great feature for you to add.

TravelPackingList is perfect for what I needed to pack for a trip. It’s TravelPackingList version of a blank sheet of notebook paper where you can write down all the categories of things / to-do’s you can think of then fill in the details below each category then check them off as you go. Very friendly and comfortable interface. Two wishes - option for landscape orientation and the ability to selectively capitalize letters in words like iPhone or USA. TravelPackingList only capitalizes the first letter of every word. Other than those minor quibbles this is a perfect packing app

When you have a dark button on the right side, it implies that that is the next action that you need to perform. So I get hung up every time I want to add something and then it tells me I have to go back and type something first. to help with this confusion. Make that add button disabled until something is typed in the text field.

Also, it would be nice to add multiples of the same object. For example, when I’m packing for a trip that is seven days, I would rather add “socks“ and then dial up a counter to seven. Rather than adding socks seven times, or having to type “seven pairs of socks”.

This could be a really great app, but there are way too many bugs holding it back. I lost my list, which took time to make. That was pretty awful, because I was making my list as I researched my next vacation spot. Then I decided to buy the pro version so I could back my list up by emailing my lists to myself. BUT that feature doesn’t work and neither does the need help link. If you download TravelPackingList , don’t spend money on upgrading until they fix all the bugs.

Update: A lot of the bugs have been fixed. I have been using TravelPackingList regularly for an up coming trip and I love it. I will definitely continue to use it.

In general, I like TravelPackingList. I love that it has the trip countdown. I also really like that sharing a list does not require people to have TravelPackingList . (That feature helps with my 80-year old technology challenged Mom!)

That being said, for me to get rid of paper & provide a 5-star review, there are a few things I would like to see:
- ability to sync across devices so I can fill in a Master List on a larger screen.
- ability to share the list and have it dynamically updated by others. (Shared in real time)
- the ability to share the list and add a “due date” to make sure that something is packed. (I can enter “10 days before trip” and it calculates that for me would be a bonus!)
- the ability to create a sublist for organization. So I could create a master list item of “carryon”, a sublist item of “essential medications” then add the medications that I need to pack. Or I could pack a “car”, “backseat” etc.

it helps to be visual in not only what you want to pack but how to arrange the packing.

That would allow me to eliminate paper!

I love that I have the flexibility to create the categories & lists as I feel fit for each trip! I’ve used it for 2 trips with a list for me and another for my dog! I would also like to see the capability of changing the order of my categories once I’ve completed them!

An improvement I’d like to see is my having access to TravelPackingList /lists on my iPad and my iPhone!! My phone is convenient as it’s always with me for updating on the go. My iPad is much easier in creating initial list and while packing due to size of screen!!! Maybe a logon that will recognize and share our lists on both?

I used this for a trip, found easy to use and liked. HOWEVER, now I am trying to use it for a different trip and modify it, and I cannot figure out how to transfer my previous trip into the new one without typing it all again. Fix this or explain how to do it and it is really great.

I love TravelPackingList so much. I’m leaving for England in a week and was so worried I was going to forget what to bring. It has made me so much more confident that I will not forget anything. This is my favorite app and I will be using it all the time. I had a question about how to delete a trip. I decided to send them an email about my question. They got back with me so fast and helped me a lot. Thanks Ann that really helped. This is the best app ever!

After trying out a couple of different packing apps, this one is by far the best. I recently retired and have several trips planned ranging from one week domestic trips to 4 week international trips. In order for me to enjoy a trip stress free, I need to be organized . TravelPackingList is great for that. I usually use a writing pad to list my packing list and to do items, but this is so much better. I upgraded. The $6.99 was worth the time of having to create a packing list for each trip. I created a master that I duplicate on all my trips then modify and add depending on the trip.

Easy to use. Able to name trip. Helps organize by using own categories. Can duplicate trips and/or categories. Can save for future trips. ALSO love that I can print the list. I save it in my desk (hard copy) calendar and have a hard copy as a record.

I can write down things I want to pack for this vacation in 5 seconds! TravelPackingList helps me remember what I need incase I forget something. Last time we went on vacation I forgot a few things because I didn’t use an app like this. I tried another app and my daughter used it too. There was things already listed to pack that was not kid appropriate. I was very dissatisfied at what my daughter was reading. I am glad I tried TravelPackingList. Thank you so much for making my packing for vacation easy and fun!!!

I travel sooooo much for so many different reasons and is stressful as heck and TravelPackingList makes it soooo much simpler and easier I am only 11 but when I found this it was a game changer my whole family loves it and I speak for all of them when I say TravelPackingList is awesome

I can choose my own categories and add my own stuff, as detailed as “white linen swimsuit cover”, or as simple as “jacket”, as appropriate for that list. I can copy a trip,add travelers (although honestly I only pack for myself so I can’t rate that feature). It has everything I need!

I pack really lightly, perhaps not quite “minimalist”, but close, so there’s not a huge amount to list, but whatever’s in the list is pretty important and it’d be bad to forget.

I’ve tried a number of others where the list is prepopulated, some even asked me to specify gender and included more crap on the packing list to carry - so it assumed because I’m female I must pack a lot of things I don’t need? I definitely don’t need to support that kind of design thought process!
