I had stopped using this printer last summer a couple months after buying it because they totally changed the entire app and I just hated the way the prints where coming out. Well I picked it back up a couple days ago. There was an app update. I was like here we go again an entire new app. To my surprise I like it. I love the edit settings. My pictures are a tad bit brighter with a little manipulation. I wish there was an explanation of each of the settings in ZipPrinter and unfortunately I can’t use the collage setting because every time I go into it and start choosing photos ZipPrinter shuts off, oh well. I just make my collages with a different app then print the entire photo with the printer, I know a shame I have to do all that but I’m not big on a lot of unnecessary complaining. Overall ZipPrinter is nice, it could really be great with a little attention and fine tuning well here’s to wishing. Thanks for the changes I look forward to even greater future changes. I’m gonna hang in there, keep up the good work guys.

Update: I called Polaroid customer service and they were helpful. I updated my iOS, then deleted ZipPrinter, and reinstalled it. The firmware update worked fine and my printer is working again. I will change my rating.

I need to be able to use this again. When I try, I’m told I need to update the firmware which will take 20 minutes. I don’t need the feature it’s promoting, but I can’t get past it- so fine. I hit update. It sat at 100% without finishing for over an hour. Finally I closed it out and reopened it. I was back to the beginning- need to update firmware. So I did it again. It sat at 100% for over an hour again, never finished. Finally I just deleted ZipPrinter and reinstalled it. Today I tried again to print and guess what? Need to update firmware. I either need to be able to use my printer, or I need a refund for it. I loved it up to this point, now it’s useless.

Updating my review!! I am SO excited! I wrote before that I had used it for 6 months and absolutely loved it but all the sudden it would not update after trying 5+ times. Not sure what happened but today I summoned the courage to try again and it worked immediately!! No clue why, but I am not complaining! So that said, it’s the most reasonably priced portable printer and I think most of the negative reviews on here are forgetting that. ZipPrinter is basic, but it works perfectly fine and gets the job done. I think the colors are great, the pictures are clear and print fast, and I love that they are peel and stick. It’s obviously not going to give you magazine quality photos, but that’s not what it was designed for. I find it perfect for daily journaling and it’s so much more convenient than rushing out to Walgreens every time you need a picture. 10/10 would recommend!

While I wait for update to ZipPrinter. I’ll let u know that u can print from ur PC. I print from my MacBook. Pair the printer. Then u can send photos to device. Edit your photo so it’s not exactly 3:2. A bit wider. It crops it automatically, I think from both sides. Make sure it doesnt crop your head off. I’ll edit this review with better instructions. App is barely ok. Idk. I want to love it, but ZipPrinter is annoying to use and pictures come out dark/ warm.

Although I don’t think it’s a deal breaker personally because it is just a fun portable printer for personal use. But, photos come out with a yellow tint. Even black and white photos have this tint. Is the tint a software thing or a hardware issue? I hear other similar printer have similar issue but colors come out a little more true.

I spent good money on this printer and I shouldn’t have to update the firmware to print out my own pictures on my own printer. I happily went to update the firmware, however it took well over 20 minutes and was still at 0%. I gave it time and it was still not downloading the firmware. I just want to print out my dang pictures yet ZipPrinter is requiring to download firm ware that won’t even load!!!! This is ridiculous. I deleted ZipPrinter and downloaded it again to see if it was just temporary but it is still not downloading the firmware at all when I click update. I’m not about to let my phone sit undisturbed for hours for an app. Please fix this so I can print my pictures ☺️☺️

It’s kind of ridiculous that ZipPrinter has such poor ratings and no one has tried to implement updates. I just purchased this mobile printer and if I had known ZipPrinter ’s functionality was this poor, I’m not sure that I would’ve purchased the mobile printer at all.
If you choose a photo on ZipPrinter and then “x” out of it to look at another photo, it jumps to some random “bursts” page and won’t let you return to your camera album unless you close and reopen the entire app.
It also won’t connect to my mobile printer! I have to restart my phone *every* single time I want to print a photo because ZipPrinter is incapable of printing one photo after the next.
I really wanted to like the product including ZipPrinter . The ideas behind the fun stickers and text were solid, but the execution is terrible. Please make improvements so ZipPrinter can let me do what it’s supposed to do: print photos.

First of all if you youse ZipPrinter for making collages it resaves awkward crops of all the pictures automatically. Plus it saves them with the same name as the original. It makes it impossible to keep tack of your photos. Also they took away many of the collage options. Now you can only have a max of 4 pics. You can’t easily just start with a collage option either. You have to pick a picture then do the collage then it kicks you all the way out to pick pictures from the main menu again. So if you originally picked a picture from your camera roll to narrow down your selection once you click collage you are back in all photos and have to go back to your camera roll and start over. Plus you can’t easily rotate pictures 90 degrees. ZipPrinter is not user friendly. The old app wasn’t great but it was better than this.

UPDATE: The new UI is wonderful. Easy to use, functional, and better quality photos. Than you for FINALLY listening to your users!

Previous: Every time ZipPrinter is updated usability declines. It doesn’t appear that Polaroid does any end user testing. This version of ZipPrinter makes the collage function virtually useless. Without the ability to rotate individual photos in the collage, users are limited to a very few preset collages. Old versions allowed ability to rotate individual photos. You do not improve apps by reducing functionality, which is what happens with every “update.”

Generally ZipPrinter does what it says it does. At first I was frustrated because I could not get any of my edits to stick. Whenever I switched to a new editing tool the previous edit was gone. It took several days to realize that since the images from my iPhone never fully filled the printing area (i.e. a small amount of white space appeared above and below the image) I was unable to see the “X” and “check mark” at the bottom because they were white on white. Also if you edit your photos and leave white space on the bottom you can’t see them either. These marks should either be a different color or be placed outside the image area. I only gave it 3 stars because of my frustration and the time it took me to figure this out.

Really sad to see such a great printer held back by a bad app that has a developer that focuses on the wrong things. The most popular editing apps are Pixelmator Photo (iPad), Darkroom, Afterlight, Adobe Lightroom, and a plethora of others. ZipPrinter is not on that list. So why does ZipPrinter developer keep focusing and pushing such a bad cluttered design. Just scrap the clutter, put in a better photo browser UI and a better more forgiving UX when selecting photos to print. Perfect those too areas and then maybe you can work on rebuilding the editing and sticker bull crap that is in ZipPrinter now.

The general performance of ZipPrinter needs to be greatly improved, for some reason it feels laggy and definitely not like it’s a part of an iOS device.

Next the resolution of ZipPrinter makes you want to throw up. I mean come on, let’s get some vectors up in here.

I haven’t used my printer in a while but I recently wanted to print some pictures out and saw the new updated version of ZipPrinter . Went to print the pics and nothing would come out. All I got was “Preparing for printing”, my printer would make a noise then it would take me back to “My Gallery” with not photos printed. Tried deleting and getting ZipPrinter again, resetting the printer, etc. and nothing happened.

I’m not sure if there is a glitch with the new version of ZipPrinter or what’s going on but the old version of ZipPrinter worked just fine.

ZipPrinter is good for using to print my pictures off of, but since the update like 4 weeks ago or something it says I have to install the new firmware and that it could take up to twenty minutes. I wasn’t too excited about this but I found the time where I had about forty minutes where I could just leave my phone open on ZipPrinter to install the firmware. I can back like 35 minutes later and it still said 0%. I can’t print out any pictures without updating it, but I also can’t update it. I didn’t let ZipPrinter close at any point or minimize it or whatever, I did everything ZipPrinter said to do and left it for more than enough time. I tried deleting ZipPrinter and redownloading it, everything I could think of but the same thing happens everytime. Please help me deal with this problem.

Outstanding piece of equipment for a quick print of a photo if you’re on your phone excellent piece of equipment size and price recommend for all have many photos on your phone devices thank you Polaroid you’ve been around for many decades growing up my dad had a Polaroid camera and I remember those beautiful days back in the 1960s so thank you Polaroid for making such a great product keep up the good work and keep us informed with your latest products amazing company

ZipPrinter and the accompanying printer is good... when they work. Twice now I’ve encountered an issue where the printer becomes indiscoverable by phones (tried on mine and my mom’s). When I try to connect, it popped up with an error and only one button that said “forget device” so I did and now it’s like it’s invisible to my phone and to my mom’s. Last time it happened I waited several weeks to try again because I was so frustrated, and when I came back it was discoverable again. Worked fine for several more weeks and now it’s happened again. I love using the pictures for my journal but it is so frustrating when this happens.

Rule 1 - don’t run out of paper. It will not print your picture. It will just go right back to the home screen and tell you it is out of paper. Then you have to start all over again.

ZipPrinter is very slow. And feels very old. Not a lot of choices for what you can do with your pictures. When you are trying to crop it in the preview screen, leave a small border, it will print slightly larger than it shows.

Please update this to be more smooth when you are moving the picture around in preview. It takes a lot of effort to get the picture cropped correctly because I have to keep moving it and then it doesn’t move or don’t stay where I had it when I let off the screen.

I recently upgraded to an IPhone XR and when I downloaded and tried to sign into ZipPrinter , it keeps giving me a “software caused program to lose connection” message and will not allow me to go any further. Extremely frustrating, please fix! I will amend my rating once it is fixed!

Turns out the problem the entire time was apple and not Zip. I LOVE THIS LITTLE MACHINE. If you need a printer that is quick and reliable, this is the one for you. Love love love my zip

i’ve had my polaroid printer for a while now. i recently got new paper for it hoping to print some pictures out, but ZipPrinter must have a glitch with the new firmware update that needs to be downloaded. I personally don’t think it’s necessary to even have the update, but it won’t let me not download it. I’ve tried to download it so many times but it won’t let me and take longer that 20 minutes to download. This printer was a lot of money and this glitch should be fixed soon! I also stay in ZipPrinter when i try to update it and keep my printer on but it never moves from 0%. please make a new update to fix this so that my printer could be normal again. thank you

Initially I wrote a very bad 1 star review because all of the directions and guidance on the internet were for previous app versions and the new version looks and works completely differently. If you’re going to radically update ZipPrinter , then you need to update the manual as well. I spent way too much time being frustrated by directions that talk about tapping buttons on the ‘home page’ or ‘main page’ when that page doesn’t exist in the new version. Stop making it so hard on the people who have paid good money for your product and expect it to be as easy as advertised.

When it works, i love it. I use it daily and usually print mini pics in collage format for my planner. The problem is each time they correct a problem, a new problem arises. The current problem is that when loading pics for the collage, the pictures freeze and it eventually crashes. And at one time i could select a bunch of pics and drop them into the collage, remove them and select another, or move them around. With a recent update, those actions were discontinued. The quality of the prints is great. I love that they are adhesive. And it’s portability is great. Right now i am going to shelf it until there is another update.

My printer stopped working the day after the latest app update. After a week of emails back and forth with customer support I was finally told that it was my printer that was malfunctioning. From the beginning I suspected it was an app issue and even asked if there was a way to install an older version - the answer was no. Finally, I took it upon myself to look through old apps on my phone and found a previous version. After installing it and pairing my printer - TA DA! Printer worked great!

So, while I love this little printer, ZipPrinter development and support needs some updating.
