No tutorial, which wouldn’t matter if it was intuitive. Which it’s not, at least for updating recorded parameters. Uninstalled.
Paid money for it, seemed great go back to add things and anything I click on shuts AquaBox down and restarts it. Can’t add any figures or reminders without it closing. If that gets fixed it would be good. Also be able to make repeatable reminders would be cool.
Contacted dev and issue hasn’t been resolved
I like AquaBox as it is functional and works to record data regarding my tanks. The design is not intuitive so it is hard to figure out how to get started. Displaying the data is also not as intuitive and the graphing frequently does not appear correctly. Hope to see updates.
AquaBox is extremely useful, and I enjoy using it to log everything for my current aquariums, as well as prepping for future aquarium builds. It’s extremely organized and easy to use. A few issues I’ve noticed are that the quantity and cost inputs do not work /update after already creating a profile (of a fish for example). I’ve also noticed that two tanks with the same measurements have completely different water volume calculations. One 440 gallon aquarium is correct, while the other appears as 366 gallons. I haven’t noticed this with any of my other aquariums. The database section is kind of useless how it’s currently set up, but I feel like having an “add to [selected tank] in [selected category]” option would be extremely useful, since aquarists often use the same types of equipment in different tank setups. I think having that option for anything in the database, whether that be fish, food, equipment, etc would be highly beneficial. Another thing that could be fixed is that the background on the food section (it goes by a different name) seems to be cutting through places it should have ended and make the font impossible to see, especially when there’s white on the image. Keep in mind, there might be a few other things I’ve forgot to mention, especially when it comes to certain inputs not updating once the profile has been made. But, those are the only two that I can recall, and the two that are especially bothersome. I am also not on Mobile, as I am using this on my iPad.
Covers most of the parameter we all need to monitor. I think though that while (on AquaBox ) the parameters section takes in your GH PPM reading the graph display is really looking at °dGH instead. So in my case for my Crystal Red Shrimp tank that is using all RO water my GH reading even at 5°dGH (89.5 ppm) gives a Red exclamation stating that my reading is too high.
I would like to see an option readily to document document my tanks TDS readings. For now I have to manually enter these readings in.
It’s a good app to keep track. What I don’t like about it is that you can’t adjust the range of values on the dashboard. Like, nitrates are from 0 to 20ppm. And the graph is so small that shifts from 0ppm to .50 or 1ppm is not noticeable. And why would the top of nitrates table be 20ppm??! That seems pretty high for everyday monitoring.. even if cycling. But other then that I love it. For a free app, it’s great!
The ammonia and nitrite parameter graph has 0.0 ppm and 20.0 ppm as the min/max for the year-axis, I don’t know how you could actually measure the higher end of that number for these parameters.
For ammonia and nitrite, it would be way more useful to see the y-axis reflect the different numbers that I’ve reported (e.g 0.5 and 0.25). In its current state, it looks like they’re 0 because 20.0 is the next tick up.
Nitrate reflects well enough because I can see 40.0 ppm.
I find the UX a little difficult, and some things aren’t entirely intuitive... I’ll figure out more as I go I guess
iPad on latest is, crashes when I hit “share settings”, can’t sync data between iPhone and iPad. I like everything else but I wish this didn’t crash it I don’t want to have to do two separate inputs of data
It’s a really good app for the price. My only problem with it is it doesn’t account for when you’re doing a fishless cycle to start your aquarium. I wish there was a setting that would actually show where you are in your cycle, and when it’s safe to add fish.
I do love AquaBox but I don’t like that it only lets you change the parameters on the graphs for 3 of the 10. Why they only let you change the temperature Ph & CO2 but not the rest is a mystery and I would like to have more control over KH GH COPPER IRON NH3,NH4. And so fourth.
On the positive side it has all of these. It’s the only app under $5 that I seen that has everything: Equipment, livestock, plants et al. They have reminders and even a cost chart.
I Would buy this again.
But pleases let us change our graph parameters!
Only reason for 4 stars instead of five is the ammonia/nitrite/nitrate graphs are useless. Please fix the scale of these graphs! I’m entering values into a graph that are usually less the 1 and the scale of the graph is fixed at 20 so it just shows a straight line all the time.
I had issues with app at first. The company worked with me patiently and they solved the issue! Great app, covers many bases and will help keeping aquariums healthy! Five stars and great customer service! And no I don’t work for them and I was not paid. 😎
