Monefy: Money Tracker Reviews

As someone who doesn’t have a fixed income I literally love Monefy for money tracking. It’s clean, simple, and having the different categories for different types of spending is an amazing feature! I can see just what I spent for the month which is something I struggled to visualize. I love that adding and subtracting money is really easy too! If you are a young person or teenager looking to keep track of your money I highly recommend!!
Things to improve: I really wish they had a way to easily track monthly subscriptions such as Netflix and factor it in automatically.
Also, I would love an option to take photos of receipts!!

I just downloaded Monefy and the first thing I have to say is that there was NO tutorial. I had no idea what I was doing for the first 5 minutes and couldn’t figure out how the expenses/income worked. I figured it out eventually but a tutorial would’ve saved me a bit of frustration. Otherwise Monefy seems pretty reliable and I think I’ll be using it a lot in the future.

A side note I would like to add is that I wanted to set mine to dark mode but I have to pay for the pro version to change the appearance of Monefy ?! That just seems stupid to me. Every app I use is set to dark mode to put my sensitive eyes at ease and was a bit disappointed to find out I had to pay for dark mode. Overall Monefy is good. :)

The only complaint I would have for Monefy is the recurring options when in dark theme are so confusing. I can’t tell which option is selected. In the regular theme you can see clearly the options you want on recurring charges area green when selected. But the dark theme seems to be randomly gray or darker gray. Other than this Monefy seems great so far and I haven’t had any issues. It looks good and it’s easy to input debits and credits.

So far we have been using Monefy for almost 2 years now, it has been great it’s helped us a lot keeping track of our finances… However the one issue that we have come across is that if you have to erase a device or get a new device to install Monefy on and then download your content through dropbox like it describes the secondary device is never balanced correctly again. I would’ve just posted this directly to the developer an email and see if they had a suggestion however there is no way to contact the developer they have a website but there is no contact us there’s just a frequently asked questions page which does not describe in detail how to fix this sort of issue. It would be really nice if the developer could reach out and fix this issue and explain what needs to be done. Until it’s resolved one star for me…

I’ve been using Wally before it became all convoluted so I was looking for another expense tracker, and this app was just what I was looking for, simple and aesthetically appealing. I do hope there’s an option to remove the income input though since I only want it as an expense tracker. I hope it becomes easier to export it. As of right now, when you click export, it doesn’t even give you the option to email it, which would be the easiest way to transfer it to my pc. Also, would be nice if there were additional icons. I paid for the Pro version in a heartbeat despite these though.

I couldn’t find where to ask a question, so I’ll ask here hoping to get a response. I want a simple app that can be installed on my iPhone and my wife’s Android…linked to a single account. So, we can both enter expenses on our own phones and Monefy will keep track of that. We would then both have real-time updates on expense tracking on our phones so we can easily enter expenses as they occurs, ie paying for gas, buying groceries, etc. I can’t find any info on that, although I saw reference to Family Sharing as an “ad” before writing this review, and I don’t know how that works. I do NOT want to link to credit cards, bank accounts, etc. Just simple entry on 2 linked devices. Thanks.

Monefy is well designed, visually appealing and it was rather easy to add bank accounts and custom categories. I would have preferred a sub category option (so I have to option to tally all utilities per time period, or specific ones only).

What I need is an app that also tracks the payor for an expense, so I can balance to my bank account and a ‘cleared’ option. I didn’t realize this until after I paid for pro to customize my categories. Still a great app and if you aren’t looking for these features, I would recommend it for sure.

I like Monefy a lot and purchased the pro version. One thing I wish to have is a more variety of more relatable icons for categories, and be able to choose the color of the each of the available icons. For example, I can’t find an icon that truly represents the category of beauty/makeup/ skin care. They don’t categorized as haircut scissors or toiletries for me. Makes it less convenient when I log those categories and wastes time when I try to figure out which icon category is the closest to the actual product / spending.

I am an adult with ADHD and dyscalculia so I am always looking for something simple and straightforward to help me manage my money. This is no substitute for a spreadsheet, but it helps me to know how much my subscriptions are costing me and to track all my teacher supplies charges for tax season. 9/10 would give it a try. I’ve stuck with this the most faithfully out of anything. It’s only hard if you have more than 1 budget paying for 1 receipt.

I did not find this application helpful because sometimes you need to clear your imputed data not your account or any category but this application reset everything when you clear data. Even they don’t have mid market exchange rate synchronisation for dealing with multiple currency, all you have to put by yourself. This application has no multiple device sync system. Design is not user friendly. I got everything except multiple device sync in “money manager” app.
I’m not here to advertise money manager but to tell the developers update this feature. Because I already paid for Monefy and I want to use both in different purposes.

This is a simple, clean expense manager! A couple set backs— wish there was a monthly calendar so that the reoccurring events could be seen visually. Also, as other reviews mentioned, it would be helpful to have a budget setting for each category. Otherwise, I found Monefy to be fairly easier to work with than others and LOVED that we didn’t have to sync to our bank accounts! Went with the Pro version— the dark mode sold me.

I’ve been looking for the best and most reliable user friendly money management apps for years, and I finally found this app, Ive been a hardcore user since December 2018 with the pro version which is 100% worth it.

I have absolute no complaints, but I do have some requests, if you guys gave us the option to create sub categories, and if you created a PC & Mac version for this you guys would blow up ever more for sure.

I’m glad that I found Monefy!!! Couldn’t clearly understand where my money go every month lol With Monefy I can track all my incomes, and expenses. It’s really helpful.
+ a friend of mine was always complaining that she is not satisfied with her financial situation.. especially she worked a lot. However, once she started using Monefy everything became clear and organized “where most money go, and what’s her monthly/yearly incom”. Thanks a lot! 🙏🏽

Quick and easy logging of daily financial transactions. Has all the things needed to record different accounts to log every aspect of one’s monetary life. For you next update, please add more, I mean more category icons. Make them colorful and just more of them to go with any possible transaction or category. Then Monefy will rock visually and application wise!

I am so happy I found this simple budgeting app. I just wanted to be able to simply and manually enter expenses and income without linking a bank account. This all does the job perfectly. I like that I can add my savings accounts but not let it appear in my balance yet still record transfers from my checking to my savings (if that makes sense lol). So happy

I told to myself am gonna try this for a month to check if i will buy pro, after a week i took it coz i like the functionalities it provides!
Currencies are flexible
You can document all your accounts and do transfers vice versa, keep in mind u hve to update the currency exchange on that date
You can set a budget limit
You can decide wether an account can be included or excluded in ur total savings (eg credit cards)
u can sync or export to excel file
You can check what is your overall total savings in 2 countries
there is no need to link my bank accounts to it (for privacy) and i do not mind inputting manually my transactions..
I just love it!

I wish this had more of a budget feature where each expenditure in a category would deduct from a specific category (groceries for instance) in a given month instead of just the overall budget. Also, if you add more than 14 categories, not all the pictures show on the main screen and you can’t select which 14 show.

Monefy is clean, clear, and very useful (and fun!) to use! You can record any purchase you want, and create your own categories. The UI is clean and easy to use as well. I highly recommend Monefy for anyone who likes to keep track of their spending.

I bought the premium version. And I haven’t complained since. Been using Monefy for a long time and it’s the best in terms of user experience and UI. I have tried other app also but now fixated on using these after comparison.

I write software for a living and have been for some 30 years. this app is a very beautiful app but like most things beautiful, useless!

There are absolutely no instructions on how to use Monefy. After some weeks of playing with it, trying my best to figure it out I thought I had it but somehow…. Deleted my main account. I just don’t have the time to waste on this any longer.

In the end, this app is a waste of time. I wish I could get my money back.

Monefy is the best I have found for tracking personal finance. It’s smart, sleek, clean, and super easy. No other app has this much clarity. Has every functionality I needed and none of it is overcomplicated. Love using the Budget Mode. Highly recommend this.

I’ve been using this app for several years now and I love it. It’s beautiful, has a lot of functionality, it allows you to add multiple sources (such as cash, debit, credit cards, PayPal...) and it shows income and spending. Give it a try!

Everything is great I would love if it had all current balance to all accounts individually so I wouldn’t have to switch between accounts to see my balances

Needed something more digital to write down all my monthly expenses and this is it. Wish you could do months ahead but hopefully that’ll come in Monefy upgrading. Check Monefy out!!

Monefy is so amazing. I really love it. Please don’t crash my logs are all there. I hope you can add feature for scanning the receipts too but please don’t collapse.

Monefy is okay, same as any budget app really. It would be 5/5 if it allowed grouping of categories AND subcategories and only show the breakout of expenses by category. For instance, I track snowboarding and target as Misc. Spend but i have to break them all out individually here..

I use categories extensively to track my expenses. It is very useful. Multiple currency management can be improved though

I love the simple design of Monefy. Its stylish and intuitive and it does what it needs to without much fuss.
Sometimes less is more ;)
