Interesting idea but they push subscription heavily

I’ve used Relive a year or so and they have a very annoying feature that auto picks photos to appear on a video. With their latest release they made it harder to see your photos, I have a hard time finding what they picked and I missed one that I didn’t want included in the video. I also can’t tap on the videos to see which I already marked as favorites in Apple photos. They are displayed very small in Relive and hard to pick the right one, especially the Live Photo’s they don’t play now to see what you picked before it goes in the video. If you end up with something you didn’t like, that’s it, you can’t edit it without paying monthly fee. They seem to be making it harder to get a good result without paying, had several messed up videos in the past few weeks. This map today also didn’t follow the distance in my Apple watch for the workout for the hike, the path was messed up with excess zigzagging and different distance than we did. Sad to see a good app going downhill.

Have to reinstall

Well, overall, I love Relive!!! It’s absolutely wonderful! The only problem I have is that sometimes it stalls out (visually) in the middle of tracking a ride yet continues to play. This is only when I view my own rides. It plays straight through if you share it via text or social media but has issues when viewing it on your mobile device. The only way to fix it is to reinstall Relive (often taking multiple times) ( I’ve had to reinstall over 20 times before) before it actually showed the full ride. This needs to be fixed! It’s a pain. I have to reinstall Relive every other time I track a ride. Either way, I love how Relive outlines your route in relation to the city you’re doing it in and will continue to use and reinstall when need be. If it wasn’t for the freezing/reinstall issue, 5 ⭐️ all the way!

Love the App but would never pay for Pro

I absolutely love Relive!!! You can add pics and save a limited amount of videos! It gives various info at points during the playback!
I highly recommend Relive and would give 5 stars if they would revamp how expensive going to Pro works.
If you save the video on the free version of Relive and misspell a word or wanted to add or remove a pic you can’t do it unless you pay for a monthly or yearly subscription.
If they charged a one time fee to buy a lower version of Pro (Semi Pro), like just having the ability to edit the name of the video, add or remove pics, and maybe add to max video storage, I’d buy it in a minute. Adding music and having unlimited storage with Pro is cool; I just can’t justify the monthly subscription fee for just the things that I want to do.

Wish it had more customization

I like Relive overall. Primary use is to share my delivery route once in awhile and for motorcycle rides. I only wish the video had an option for different maps. Even if only offered with subscription, being able to select between the satellite, terrain or road maps would be an awesome addition. Also it would be nice to be able to have a toggle option to show all large towns, my 300+ mile tracks only show a few towns/cities near the start and after that the track just kinda gets lost wandering the too far zoomed out satellite patchwork where you can’t even really make out roads or towns. Hoping for further improvement to justify subscribing.

Worked great until…..

….until I tried the upgrade, at which point it stopped reading the tracking information from the paddleboard apps I use on my Apple watch.
Before I tried the update it transferred the tracking from both the Waterspeed and Watersports Tracker apps.
I Tried the update because I wanted more flexibility for editing the this app video. Ever since I tried the upgrade it will no longer import the tracking information from my Apple watch, as it did when I was using the free version. Now that I am back to the free version it STILL is not working. Now it is just taking up space in my phone. I might as well delete it.
It now says “Whoops! We are unable to import this activity because there is no route available in Apple Health”. This was not the case for my first few months of use

Love the app, but you have to delete and add again to clear cache

I’ve been using Relive for over a year and love it, but I wish you didn’t have to delete it and re-add it to clear the cache. When you make lots of videos, it will get to a point where it won’t save to your phone without an error. Each time it has happened to me, you have to clear out the cache and to do it, you have to remove Relive from your phone. I wish they’d create a button for that.

Also, you can only use their proprietary non-copyrighted music, even as a this app Plus member. I wish you could use copyrighted music like on Instagram stories.

A little slow

I really love Relive ! I’ve used it about 5 times, and would recommend it with the caveat that it is a little slow in generating your video...

A rate of progress bar would be good. I have been waiting about 3 hours now for a video of a run today. Yes, it’s the weekend, and yes, it is free! Frankly, if they want to charge about $10/month for subscribers so they get better features, it has to be a bit faster in generating the video.

Other than that, it’s a very fun app and recommend it! Be patient in getting your video especially so on weekends.

Feature Suggestion

I was a paid subscriber for a bit, but there just wasn’t quite enough customization that I felt could be useful. It’s definitely worth it for most folks to subscribe, I’d think, if you’ve already made more than a couple videos from it.

What I’d really like to see, though, is an ability to control the height of the camera - since there are many situations where you can see the map imagery switch from one resolution to another due to camera movement, something that might be fixable with some camera manipulation.

Another thing that would be nice is a tiny compass in the bottom left or right corner of the video (if selected) which would show which way is “north” at all points of the video. Even in “familiar areas” it’s sometimes easy to lose track of where you are looking at if the map is at an unusual angle.

I’ll probably be subscribing again regardless, once I know if/when I’ll have some longer trips planned... even with my small complaints, this is still a great app.

Great app for keeping track of miles logged!

Love Relive , works well in the background but is a battery drainer. I love that I can select the photos I wanna use that I’ve taken on the runs. My only issue which is super minor is that they took off the music that use to play when you created your run and watched the video. There use to be music while you watched your run now there isn’t. Other than Relive is great.

Great, could be even better

I use Relive all the time, it’s great, and the videos are awesome. However, a few things that should be updated.
1. Allow creation of 4K videos
2. While Relive is recording, show current stats of your trip, like top speed, average speed, elevation gain, etc. I’d like to know if I’ve broken my personal speed record without going through the inconveniently long trip completion process on Relive .
3. Refresh the music every once in a while.
4. Maybe give a couple of map video styles, like circling, following, or birds eye perspectives.

Horrible app

So it’s been really useful and I loved Relive but lately it’s been crashing and today I used it to record my activity and when I tried creating my video it said that my internet connection was bad which it wasn’t because I’ve been using WiFi and cellular data as well and everything worked, so I tried resetting network connections and my WiFi as well, and it keep saying the same thing over and over, I had two workouts from today that I really liked and couldn’t wait to share, mind you my stuff was deleted from Relive , don’t know how or why, but, two things... I’ve paid a subscription for something that just gave up on me and second I losted two of my workouts, so I’m not happy at all with this and I’m sorry but I’m deleting it!

Only works for runs *after* you install

So I finished a run with a friend, they told me about Relive , and I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately it doesn't work with past runs, only if you go running after you install it and pair Strava. And I only figured that out after reading their help topics, because Relive doesn't make this clear anywhere. That's not a really good first experience.

It's possible to make a video of a past run, but only after subscribing to a 11 usd monthly plan, which is not something you'd be enticed to do if you can't even see how Relive works first. If Relive had at least a one-time IAP that would allow me to pay for making a video for a single run, I'd be glad to pay for it.

June 2021 Update: App crashes when launched

Installed the new update. I have the latest iOS installed too. Now this app won’t launch.

I was able to get pictures added to one video. I haven’t been able to get that to work again. And after you save, you can’t edit later to add the picture you took on your ride, without the in app purchase of the subscription.

Relive is cool. I like it. But I wish it was easier to add my pics. And I wish there was a Pro version upgrade rather than a subscription.

Problematic

I bought a subscription and couldn’t use it because Relive didn’t recognize I had paid for it. I wrote to support and took them two days to fix the problem. There are many bugs especially in the loop. I wrote to them, they said it’s a bug, no fixing. So I can’t use that option. They advertise you can add music to your video but the truth is that there are 8 tracks to choose from, only 2 maybe are nice the others are stupid. You can’t use your own music. I like the idea of Relive and have use it. But for what they charge it’s not worth it. I cancelled the subscription. If I knew these things before I would never pay for this. Free version is same with paid. Editing is nothing really.

So/so

3 stars: Music & extra photos require a subscription. I purchased the annual option, used it first day and loved it. Used it day 2 and Relive /website says they are experiencing technical difficulties (down for 5 hours now). Hope this is a rarity vs. common occurrence. I was pretty impressed with the ease of use and final product. Just has to work now. 😂

Update: site is still down after 10 hours. Moving down to 2 stars. You think a company with millions of users would have hardware / IT folks to handle the job quickly and efficiently.

Works great on iPhone 7

Overall I'm very happy with Relive.
Pros:
You can download the video to your phone so then you can do whatever you want with it.
There is some processing time involved but Relive requires very little input from the user so, worth it.
Cons:
I wasn't able to see the track while recording. This would be nice for more confidence finding my way back.
The paid subscriptions seem 3 or 4 times as expensive as they should be. To me it seems like they would get 10x as many paid users with a less expensive subscription model but who knows, people are cheap. Maybe an a la cart option would be nice ie: pay once each time I use a premium feature so I can go a long time between using Relive but still justify paying when I want a feature

Deleting your app because of spam emails.

I downloaded your app to compare it to Natural Atlas, which I use for kayaking trips. I haven’t even used it for one trip yet, but I’m sick of the spam emails that you relentlessly send me, so I’m deleting it. It is freaking ridiculous for you to send that many emails in that short of time. It’s obnoxious and there are too many alternatives to put up with this.
*I tried to use it for one trip, but due to poor cell coverage, it only uploaded 2/5 pictures. Said I could add them in later, but of course not with the free version. No thanks. Deleted.
Good luck.

Love this App

I really can't find any problems with Relive. It shows an active topical rendition of you run or bike. That's incredible if you're on trails. I don't care that it doesn't show 'past' runs. I am improving on them anyway. There's just something very exciting about visually seeing your progress, (other) than just the numbers your activity tracker provides. LOVE IT. I plan on recommending it to everyone I run with.

Free version is ok

So, I’m using the free version… And it’s a nice fun novelty. Not really a tool imho… One flaw is it does not calculate average speed correctly - Relive does not account for stopped time properly during a ride,… my 34 mile ride today with a total time of 2:08:00 minus 14:00:00 is around a 17.8 mph average… but Relive isn’t subtracting stooped time, so it’s spitting out a 15.9 mph average based on the 2:08:00 total… I’m sure not posting a 3D video with a bogus average speed for all to see. Note - the data feeding Relive is correctly calculating average speed.

Love it But...Fix the Phantom Rides!

I love the flyover this app video. That's really the ONLY reason i use it. But, Relive adds phantom activities. It seems to happen whenever I use Relive . I record my ride and once I finish I now have two activities. One is my actual ride. The other is a phantom activity with a random number of miles and a 0 duration time, 0 elevation and a speed in the 5-6 digits! So I have to spend time removing these activities. Fix it! I see the same thing happening to others on my Feed. Fix It!

Needed it, loved it

I’m getting into trail riding in more places. My boys and I have been riding together for over twenty years. We always ride by time not miles as the trails we used were mostly private and un measured. They are getting older and we are starting to use parks and other mapped and measured trails. Relive has helped me convert time to miles which will help ensure we are training properly to meet the challenges of the new trails. Thank you this app!! The pictures and videos are s as huge bonus and love them.

I can even measure the miles they work on the lounge line!

(Didn’t seem to work well inside metal indoor arena, I’m going try again one more time. But it had two problems. First it gave two very (Aprox 1000ft) different elevations when its perfectly level and second it marked a leg or two if the ride way out side the arena which I did not do. Not sure if it was a glitch in my phones location or the metal roof I was under.)

Out doors it worked great!!

Great app

Use this after every ride. Fun to see where I’ve been. Only issue I have is a programming issue that I’d like the developers to address. Often the route is displayed behind a location marker. If you are doing long straight roads it’s generally not a problem, however if you are doing lots of twists and turns then it can be.
That said, I still strongly recommend Relive to everyone I know.

By

Cool, but inaccurate app

I’ve been using Relive for several months. It’s a great idea and I love the videos. However, it consistently misrepresents my distances and elevation gains, which is super annoying. My Apple Watch and SUUNTO report one set of distance and elevation figures and then this app displays different numbers, usually shorter distances and lower elevation gains. I emailed this app about this problem and someone reached out to me asking for a list files from my devices as though this is a new problem they’re unaware of. So it seems they are nowhere near close to fixing this issue. Disappointing.

By

Cool ap

I originally wrote that it didn’t work without an Internet connection at the beginning and end of the ride, and without it, the ap deleted the track. That’s not true. I was not giving it enough time to do its thing. It actually took a few days to complete, but it did work. Giving 5 stars instead of 1.

Can’t wait to see how this app evolves

Great little app. People really enjoy seeing my trails runs and hikes. One suggestion: vary the dot speed for the degree of difficulty. For instance, if the video is of a trail run, it would be cool if the dot moved slower up a steep incline and faster on the decent. It would give the viewer a sense of where the strenuous part of the activity was without having to cross check it with the elevation graph.

Never loads my runs

I use Strava. All my friends use Strava. My account is synced. It never ever loads my runs. I’ve done like 20 runs during the month of November. Only one of my runs actually shows up in Relive to “this app” and then they want you to pay to reload past runs? It doesn’t even load new runs. Why would I ever pay to load old runs when it doesn’t even do what it’s supposed to do in the first place. Massively disappointing. At least my friends seem to get to enjoy Relive. I’ll just stick with my maps from Suunto, I suppose.
