Poor design and poor execution on IOS

The logon screen would benefit from loading the email entry keyboard. After logging on, the opening is screen patently uninteresting and badly in need of an actual graphic designer. I suspected there might be trouble when I saw that Safeco only functions in portrait mode. I selected the view ID cards button and got to a screen with no ID cards. Looked around and saw a button that says ‘I’d like to...’. Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t I already tell you what I want do just a few seconds ago??? So I’m in for a penny, in for a pound, I tap on it. Three layers in and still no cards. But there is a link to a pdf that says view/print. I’m thinking I finally arrived so I tap on it.I am directed to what looks like a home grown display of a two page document that is my cards. But it’s like a bad practical joke because this display has no user interface except fore a “done” link. What is most glaringly missing is any facility at all to print the document. So somebody tell me, why did I download Safeco. I am newly switched to this app and I am already questioning that decision. Maybe they keep their premiums low by skimping on the web development staff. Makes me wonder where else they skimp... well off to my laptop browser to see if the website is any better.

Worthless App

Stay away from Safeco & this app/LibertyMutual. Safeco is merely a tool this app/Liberty Mutual uses to prevent so many customers from calling and speaking to live customer service. Like the website, Safeco is NOT accurate, it is NOT updated with the information you provide to Safeco or the customer service rep (claims specialists), and as far as “Booking a Rental”, it does no such thing. It gives you the information and location of the rental car companies they have contracts with and allows you to click a button. You click a button to “book a rental, then it confirms you have booked a rental, only you have NOT. There is not a confirmed vehicle at any of those locations for you. You STILL have to call each car rental location to find a rental, while none of the places do anything to help you find one, none offer you an up charge for an upgrade to get you in a car, NOTHING. I never had this issue with State Farm, Progressive, Farm Bureau, or Geico. The $20 difference a month? Totally worth paying a higher price for the better experience with better customer service at competent insurance companies.

Our experience.

I opted out of autopay a few months back like April, when this app decided to double dip into my bank account. 2 months ago, May, this app took it upon themselves to once again double dip into my bank account even though autopay was turned off, my routing number removed, and I used my bank card to pay with. Go to this week July 19th and once again this app double dipped BUT WAIT.. this is the best part, I used my husbands card to pay it.. BUT WAIT. they also took it upon themselves to charge my bank account a few days later EVEN though autopay was turned off and my account was removed from the payment options FOUR MONTHS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. now let’s fast forward to Friday July 23, they decided again that one payment and a almost second payment was not enough… THEY THEN CHARGED MY.. MY BANK ACCOUNT AGAIN even though they got their money with my husbands card. this app is a joke, and I do not recommend them to anyone.

Needs improvement

I echo other comments in that it appears they just used a mobile-friendly version of the website. Both need improvements in the way Billing is presented and used. Specifically, the due date for a payment online (website or app) is different from the bill I receive in the mail. Thank goodness I choose to keep paper statements for insurance companies. Also need to be able to schedule a payment at a future date—currently only option is the current date.
Also it would be nice to view cancelled policies and billing for them.
It’s confusing this app uses a different “billing account” for each policy as well. Finding and reviewing coverage/PDF of policy isn’t intuitive at all.
It’s nice I can initiate a claim online, but if I need to do that I want a live human being for it.

Can’t upload photos

It appears it is necessary to use a mobile phone to upload damage photos. I have a desktop computer with email. I have a iPad Pro with email and the this app app but still cannot complete my claim without sending photos of the damage. I was told on the phone that I would be given an address where I could upload the photos I have of the damage. Not true. The email contained a button that started a process telling me that I was not on a proper device to use this function, that I needed to use a mobile phone. I was never told when I purchased this insurance that I would need a mobile phone to file a claim.

It should be very simple. If it can be done on a mobile phone why can’t it be done on an iPad?

Even more important why can’t the process be done on a desktop computer?

Claims

This as been far the worst company to deal with if you have a claim. They want to pay the least they can and you have no idea why???!! The adjuster and the contractor can be on the same page but the company will come back and lower it more than 1/2 or more than what the cost can be. Same problem with a hail storm about 5 years ago. I stuck with them because I’ve literally had them for almost 20 years. And until recently I’ve seen a decline in their customer service and willingness to help or want to pay claims. But their premiums continue to get higher and they sure don’t help you when you have a problem! And mind you I have only had 2 claims In The past 2 years. I’m not one to turn everything in! So you would think they would be willing to help.

Terrible -they’re not ready

Terrible. They’re not ready to roll Safeco out, but they’re advertising it. First they’re letter doesn’t help you determine which app it is when you search the apps to download. Second, when you finally figure it out and get logged in your account your account information is not complete. You get some type of error message that your policy is not ready or available to view. Third, of the little information that’s there you cannot update some of it online. If you try to do so Safeco refers you to call your agent. What’s the point. I guess I’ll go on my app so it can tell me to call my agent. wow! They sure impressed me today.

App needs some TLC!

Seems like the developers or this app forgot they have an app. Safeco hasn’t been updated to support iPhone X much less the XS and XS Max. Like other reviewers I cannot view my insurance card. I mean at a minimum Safeco should do that even it not full screen. Poor experience with Safeco and I hope that does not translate into a poor experience all around. My agent says they are a really good company. And Liberty Mutual is the parent so as long as I get great service and coverage then that’s more important but if I have to rate Safeco I’m finding it hard to even give it one star. Maybe half star is more realistic. I see no benefit in having Safeco take up valuable memory space on my phone.

Great company

I have been in the insurance business for 47 years retired as of now and I know how to recognize a quality company I feel this company has always given a fair rate with their products and their service is excellent I willI continue to keep my insurance package with them.

No fingerprint support; doesn’t remember password

Imagine this, I’m in an accident, want to use Safeco, which I haven’t logged into in ages... just emailed I want Safeco the most, I’ve forgotten my password... I’m trying to talk to people, Safeco won’t work, gotta call people... or I want to check my policy... or... but Safeco doesn’t remember my password.

The way banks handle this is they let you create a read/only account, and/or use iPhone’s fingerprint reader. No risk to anyone, and now I don’t have to remember a password. Now I *use* Safeco . I create aggressive passwords that protect me. The only risk is when phone is lost or stolen... but with 10 tried wrong passwords, phone erases itself or I can remotely erase manually, if my phone was stolen.

Alternatively, you’ve incentivized me to pick weak, easy to remember passwords in order to use your app, which means I don’t use Safeco .

Every major bank has a solution to this. You should also.

Absolutely useless!

I can’t set up an account. I can login via their website with my email and password but the mobile app can’t be set up until they’ve addressed the glitches.
I’m told I have the wrong user name or password. When I go to reset the password/username I’m told there’s no account associated with the email. I try to create an account and I’m told the email is already associated with my email address. After calling this app recently for a claim, that’s actually a prompt to select a number if there are problems with the mobile app! It’s a mess!

Not any better than just using the website

Safeco appears to just embed a web browser of this app's mobile-friendly website. Aside from being able to use TouchID/FaceID to login, I don't think Safeco provides any functionality you couldn't get using the web browser on your phone. And Safeco is old enough it doesn't use the full screen dimensions on a modern iohobe, so the web browser actually works a little better.

Terrible "App"

Safeco should actually be banned for violating terms of Safeco Store Guidelines, specifically section 4 Design, subsection 4.2 Minimum Functionality:

"Your app should include features, content, and UI that elevate it beyond a repackaged website. If your app is not particularly useful, unique, or “app-like,” it doesn’t belong on Safeco Store. If your App doesn't provide some sort of lasting entertainment value, or is just plain creepy, it may not be accepted."

I just actually got stuck on a webpage within Safeco and couldn't even get back without force quitting it. Please remove this embarrassment, Apple.

Contact info

I was told by a claims rep on the phone that no phone number was present for my account when he looked it up by the policy number but that I could update that by going to the web page or Safeco . When I looked for the place to do that under Personal Info, or Contact Info, or whatever the wording was, the only item that could be changed was my email address, no place for phone contacts at all.

Need improving!

Needs a lot of work, I can’t see how much every car I have separated total is. I would love to be able to see how much I pay for each individual car. Also when I check the summary it takes me to a blank page and then I have to reset Safeco to get back on to the home screen. Please fix Safeco I love using it just needs some work.

Home Owners Insurane sign up

I went online to see about insurance on our home and an agent call me almost immediately. Jaimie came on the line and helped me right away. It was quick and easy. Jaimie was a great help and combined our coverage on home and auto and saved us money.

When it works, it’s helpful

It is not a bad app when I can get it to load. Often when I am on the opening page and click on “Make a Payment” it goes tot he loading screen and then back to the opening page. Same with the “Manage policies.”

I remove Safeco and download it again, which sometimes that works and other times, right now, doesn’t. I have sent an email to their mobile support last week and have not received a reply.

Great app!

I just had an accident, and filed after hours using Safeco ! The next morning 9am sharp an adjuster called me, I took it to a recommended shop, 6 days later I picked up my car! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Good job this app!

Great response

I got in a hit and run car me and warped speed on me and safe co has been very fast on the response towing..rental car within 12 hours. If it weren’t for the fast responding I would be freaking so thank you deeply and very worth having

Denny Vest

Everyone I’ve talked to a safe car is been very helpful and polite I was concerned about my injuries only thing I wish is I would’ve had a smaller deductible and of course I wish the accident hadn’t happened I’m not the same now

Terrible.

I downloaded, poked around, and uninstalled immediately. Then I went back and downloaded it again just so I could leave this review.

This is not an app anymore than watching the movie is a suitable replacement for your book report. It just redirects you to the website, where you still sign in and everything is formatted and optimized for desktop computing. It doesn’t translate well for mobile. It crashes, dead-ends, and basically all roads lead you back to a phone call to your agent.

By

Terrible application! How embarrassing

I wanted to download a PDF of my declarations page. Safeco allowed me to view it but there is no button to save or forward the PDF. Come on, this is basic functionality folks. Is there no manager at this app who is responsible for overseeing this application?

Safeco doesn’t allow you to add, delete or change vehicles. It forces you to call your insurance agent which completely misses the point of being able to use an app for simple functionality.

Can’t print, can’t save, can’t can’t can’t

You can’t print a copy of your insurance documents (such as ID card) from Safeco . For that matter, you can’t even “share” it to your email to print them, save them to Files (iCloud Drive), Dropbox or anywhere else so you can access them another way to print. You can’t do much of anything with your insurance documents except enjoy looking at them.

By

Disappointed in the functionality

This ‘app’ is nothing more than their website running in a iframe. It’s incredibly hard to navigate, and doesn’t take advantage of any platform features to make using it on a phone easier.

For instance, there’s no way to save your is cards to your wallet, or even to the photo library. And the if card view is actually a pdf file, which is challenging to read/use on a phone.

Great app!

I recently moved my home/auto insurance to this app and was glad to see all of the updates and fixes the developers made to Safeco (based on prior reviews). So far, it works great! I can access my ID cards quickly, pay my bills, etc.

By

Great

Able to pay my bill and easy to see I’d cards and other documents when someone is requesting them. Layout is easy to see everything and navigate.
