Just another reason why I love iPhone

The Apple TV app is phenomenal. I love how all of my apps are connected, with the exception of Netflix, and serves as a universal hub for all of my shows. I love iOS and the UI it offers the customer so I am very happy this Apple continues to invest in AppleTV. Also, the Apple TV shows are excellent, and the new Apple TV+ section makes it easier to find all the latest shows and films. My only concern/hope for the future would be to access the content directly from the Apple TV app without being redirected to the native app. For example, being able to open a Disney+ show without having to be redirected to the Disney+ app itself. Otherwise, I love AppleTV and I hope it continues to grow. I hope to see a lot more shows, movies, and maybe even sports (the English Premier League would be a dream come true). Regardless, I have much hope for the future of AppleTV and I am excited to see just how far Apple will go with it.

Quality over Quantity and affordably priced

I tried this service a couple of months ago and watched a few episodes of “For All Mankind” and started watching “Defending Jacob” and thought they were both good, but didn’t think the library contained much content. The library is not very big, but they are all quality shows catered to different tastes. The Joel Coen Macbeth film looks interesting, and I thought the documentary on George Bush and 911 was informative and balanced. I have added several movies and shows to watch while waiting for more. At this price point, it is a very good service to supplement HBO Max. I’m disappointed with Netflix and some of the other services due to the junk that is mixed in with the watchable content, as well as the movie selection becoming repetitive among the services. I appreciate that this is available on Roku because I am not a fan of the Apple TV streaming box. Anyway, this time I plan to stick around long enough appreciate the programming, and look forward to being a long-term subscriber.

Apple TV app

This review is gonna be biased. Because I am an Apple person through and through. Having the Apple TV app connected to my iPad my MacBook Pro my families Apple devices and my Apple TV 4K streaming box. How this all connects together is amazing to me. The ease of use of pausing it on my phone and going to my TV and in starting it from there or to another device is amazing and the ease of use of Apple products is bar none. Apple really has simplified their products so the common person that doesn’t know anything about computers can just about pick it up and work it. My parents that are in their late 70s I’ve called them iPhones and iPads and Apple TV and with zero computer or electronic knowledge was able to operate these devices with a 30 minute training course for me. Tim Cook and the team at Apple in Cupertino, keep up the great work and I’m looking forward to the next innovation you and the team come up with.

Great shows on appleTV+

I got free subscription for this app+ when I bought my iPad Pro for a year. I love the content it has. Being a Montessori teacher there’ s some great series for kids, which my class has been watching on Fridays.

After my year ended I subscribed to it since there were so many great shows that I love. With one subscription you can also watch it in 6 devices which is a huge plus for me.
Currently I am obsessed with the Basketball show “ Swagger” apart from tennis and cricket , I am clueless when it comes to sports. I am not even sure who Kevin Durant is but he sure does have compelling story to tell I also love the “Morning show, “Truth be told,” Shrink next door featuring the “ People Magazine’ s sexiest man .
I even have my friends and family subscribing to this app+. It is very reasonably priced and there’s something for everyone.

Horribly organized interface

Don’t get me wrong, our house is full of Apple products and we love them. They generally do a great job on both hardware and software. AppleTV is horrible though. Just like everyone else, they are trying to have their app be your home for all your TV content. They fail miserably in the organization and the interface. You can never tell what is free to you and what you need a subscription for. Even after only connecting the services that we have, it’s still very difficult to actually find something to watch easily. They need to take a page from Netflix and/or Reelgood. “Reelgood” especially does a good job with what Apple is seemingly trying to do. Name your services, have it show you what’s specific to you. It feels like Apple is more interested in showing you what you can subscribe to, rather than what you already have. Even then it is difficult to parse the types of movies you want to see. Honestly I just use “Reelgood” and tell it I have Apple TV plus. I wish Apple would take a look at their organizational system. I would much rather make Apple TV my jumping off point.

Boring and scam don’t download

Warning, AppleTV is not what it seems. Delete AppleTV from your iPad or iPhone immediately, because AppleTV is scamming you for money, and it is very boring. I went on there to look for a movie that was kid friendly which was the little mermaid, but it told me I had to rent it or buy it, wow Apple, I can’t believe you would scam people into giving you money, you’re already rich billionaires, why do you need more money? You’re just a big old greedy company, that will have no future because they only want the money and they hate their jobs, I thought I was gonna work for you guys, but now, when I’m an adult, I refusing your application, because I don’t want to work for a greedy company, working for Google phones is better than working for a greedy company, guys be careful, they are scamming you for your money, and if you’re not careful, you could lose all your money from buying all those movies, Apple is just using you, they made AppleTV so they can use you for money, so they can be rich billionaires, and BTW, AppleTV is very boring, pretty soon I’m going to delete AppleTV

Dark. Delicious. Suspenseful.

The house is a character unto itself. The simple beauty of the home and its old money charm builds the facade of the darkness that lies behind the shiny veneers. It’s very much like the house is inviting and comforting all the while keeping something, just out of sight, that is a combination of sinister in demeanor or protective to those that inhabit.

The development of the characters is profound, while the storyline grows into different levels from progressive predictability to complete “I didn’t see that coming” suspense. All the while we are left with so many questions about the characters and their arc from season to season.

The darkness of the shots parallels the darkness of what lurks within the house itself and within the characters we encounter. Every episode helps to provide relief of previous episode anxieties while weaving back into more unanswered questions.

I can’t wait to continue the journey, resolution to all the complexities of Servant will either be comforting or disturbing. Much like the plates produced from Sean’s gastronomically challenging kitchen.

The worst UI Apple has ever approved

I’ll start by saying at least AppleTV works. It’s designed to play videos, and play videos it does! But the interface is just…the absolute worst thing I’ve ever seen? Yeah, I think that’s fair to say. When browsing, there’s no easy was to organize. You have to scroll through endless random collections of things and once you scroll alllllll the way to the bottom, you finally find the option to sort through genres. Then when it comes to watching shows you already actively watch, good luck finding them. The “up next” section is supposed to help with that, but it’s just an endless list riddled with everything you’ve started watching at some point making it hard to find things you want. We NEED the option to add shows and movies that we stream to our libraries. That way, any time I want to catch up on a show, it’s right there waiting for me alongside my old iTunes purchases. A library is the answer. Not a thousand random lists of recommendations. Please stop trying to reinvent the wheel here.

Data hog and Too Little Content

Started at 4 stars but knocked a star off for lack of original content and the time new content is released. Knocked another star off for the totally ridiculous data consumption, both streaming and downloading, on both iPhone and iPad.

I like to download shows and movies in their respective apps so there’s no chance of buffering if I’m in a bad area or Verizon’s and AT&T have decided to throttle traffic in the area I’m in. Apple TV+ uses huge amounts of data, both streaming and downloading. The same movie I can download in Disney+ or Netflix at 500Mb is almost 3Gb with downloads set to fast and SD for the smallest size available. A single episode in a weekly shows comes in at over 1Gb compared to less than 200Mb in other apps.

This is a really ridiculous problem that Apple needs to address sooner than later but even after almost two years of complaints about nothing gets done. Apple doesn’t care about data caps or data hogging.

To top it all off, they have very little original content and when they do it’s few and far in between and shows only run for a short season. Apple does do some good shows and movies when it finally does but it comes at a much steeper cost than the Keep all this in mind before using Apple TV+.

Content? Great. Everything else? Not so much.

I love what Apple TV has to offer, but not how they offer it. AppleTV has some issues. That is, when it will load. Half the time I spend more time struggling to get whatever I’m watching to start than I do actually watching it. It isn’t my wifi, every other streaming service app on my phone works just fine in the same circumstances. I’ve tried everything to make it load quicker, or at all for that matter, but nothing works. Besides that, there isn’t a watchlist, which isn’t that big of a concern, just something I think might help improve the experience. You can save to “Up Next” but then things just get mixed in with what you are currently watching and it gets cluttered. Honestly, it’s an ok app. I think if they went back and fixed the bugs and added a couple of features for users to simplify things it could be better. Anyway, I’m going to go try to get my show to load now. Wish me luck.

WWII Submarine Rescue

We don’t realize the great sacrifices that so many men, women & children have made because of brutal regimes with tainted propaganda that is designed to get their soldiers to perform unbelievable cruelty to anyone that gets in their way! The end justifies the means….

The mostly “never before seen videos and photos” contained real life accounts showing the sacrifices and most exciting escapes & rescues that just jump out at your emotions. I never realized that there were 40 men, women & children rescued by a submarine crew of 80 with one brave missionary priest who refused to be rescued with his wife & children. He refused to board the submarine against General MacArthur’s orders as he was following MacArthur’s Boss’s orders (God Almighty’s orders). So that brave man returned back to the island in order to continue to help & minister to his other family of courageous Philippinos.

Really well documented and well done!

Why would anyone want the app?

I don’t like bashing but when I traded in my last Apple phone for my new Apple phone I was given offer Apple TV 3 free months. I’m thinking alright movies I’m trying to watch rn such as The Incredible Hulk and newer Spider Man movies w/Tom Holland would be available on app sure they are, but for what to rent or buy for 20 something dollars or more? When it says free 3 months in my opinion should be because all movies or shows on Apple TV app should be FREE for 3 months to motivate people to continue on future films that will be posted in app to keep paying for a subscription fee later on not let me see what movies and still give my $ to rent/buy and you’ll still be wanting it once sub fee comes around ridiculous if this was my app I’d give free movie access to all movies on app for free 3 months no questions asked and go from there but sorry that’s just my opinion guess I’ll give my money elsewhere because I bet I’ll find the hulk and Spider-Man movies elsewhere for cheap then what you’re asking me

Has trouble with its basic function

This is a video player app that has trouble doing that on many occasions. Just some of the issues seen:
- After updating to iOS 15, downloaded videos don’t play. Black screen only and no sound. Mainly happens on iPad pros.
- App will randomly decide to not play videos, both remote and local stuff. Forever activity indicator.
- Sorting is messed up big time. Each section sorts content differently.
- When you download stuff, AppleTV does not sort by type. So you have tv shows next to movies next to home videos, etc.
- AppleTV will freeze while browsing. Your scrolling and suddenly things stop. And they don’t start again unless you force quit AppleTV .
- Search only searches the wide iTunes content library, it has no option to restrict to YOUR content. The Music app can do this…
- In movies, chapters and chapter markers are not shown at all.
- Try loading AppleTV with a barely-there internet connection. Good luck while it decides to show you the full app or just the downloaded content. You can wait a long time.

AppleTV just feels like a minimum viable product was made. There is no Apple magic in this TV app. It’s bare bones and bland. UX is sad too. They are spending so much effort making TV apps for dozens of third party products that they are neglecting the primary. The TV app has also barely changed since it was re-made from the iOS Videos app. Bugs and all are still here.

MLB live games

This is as much a review for the MLB as it is for Apple TV. All about money let me tell you. Now because of this deal apple made with the MLB, baseball fans are left alienated with no way to watch their games unless they have a streaming service that almost nobody uses. My family and I have been sitting here trying to figure out how to get the game on the tv since the start of the game now only to have the picture blurred almost like ghosts are playing. I wish I could say it was a connection problem but there hasn’t even been a skip on the audio so I know where the problem lies. The least you can do if your going to take away the easiest access for people to watch baseball is to make sure it actually works right and you get the picture quality to match cable. I’m just so disappointed in this new partnership. I speak for a lot of fans when I say this should have never happened. Thanks for being greedy on this one Apple and MLB. So much for the fans, right?

Good enough, but not great.

I use the TV app because I like the content, but usability could be much better.

I would love a way to make something like smart playlists, where I choose one or more shows and specify how I want them sorted (binge one show at a time, oldest to newest, newest to oldest). I’d make a playlist for myself, my wife would make one for herself (because we share an this app and I assume this stuff would sync across all of our devices), another for when the two of us are watching together, and maybe some more depending on mood, how much time we have, etc.

The “Up Next” list is barely adequate. There’s no way to prevent other apps from adding whatever show they want, short of blocking those apps from integrating with it at all. It’s hard to tell whether an episode on the list is one I’ve already watched or if it’s new, especially when it’s not the newest episode of a show.

I’d love to be able to turn closed captions on and off and have it retain my previous choice for language and type rather than have it pop up a menu with a huge list of languages (which obscures playback while I find English SDH in the list) every time.

I’m sure there are more, but that’s all the time I care to spend today.

Underwhelmed

It’s not what I expected at all. I guess I’m not educated on the offerings. I expected a Netflix like experience with movies and shows that are actually included in the subscription. Basically, you have to use AppleTV on your iPhone or iPad to play anything. Also, the library is pretty much just Apple “original” shows. You have to pay for movies as it appears not much is included in the subscription. Also, AppleTV is not user intuitive. I find it difficult to navigate to what’s actually included in the subscription. Plus, the “Free for Everyone” section takes you to shows and movies you actually have to pay additional money to view. Perhaps I’m just not well-educated on the product or had too high of expectations but I’m not impressed. Basically I see click-bait within a subscription that takes you to movies and shows where you have to pay more money to watch. I doubt I’ll continue the subscription.

Really need to tighten this up.

It’s the little things that your normally are on point with. Let me explain something about Skip. When you ask me, do you want to skip the intro and I say yes, I expect Apple to take me to the start of the show. Not to 5 seconds prior to the end where the intro is normally loudest. Instead of making sure each episode skips to the right moment, it appears to be on a timer. Can you not hire someone that does nothing but adjust that? I probably shouldn’t complain half the time Skip doesn’t even show up. On my MBP, if I close the lid mid show, I normally have to close AppleTV and reopen to get play to resume. Unless I fast forward through three minutes of credits half the time the episode will not show as watched. I love at least half the content but we need AppleTV to be the premier streaming app.

What a mess

AppleTV presents a chaotic mishmash jumble of viewing suggestions. It’s easier to go to the specific app for your subscription to watch a show.

Shopping for movies to buy on Mac OS is hilarious, because of a bug that suddenly causes most of the category you’re scrolling through online to suddenly and irretrievably disappear. BTW, I’m using an M1 laptop running Big Sur, so it’s not an outdated hardware (MacOrphan) problem.

Movies purchased and downloaded from Apple can’t be Airplayed from a Mac or IOS device to my this app HD during an internet outage. Every time I’ve tried it, I get some error message that the show Apple sold me is in the wrong format and can’t be Airplayed. [Used to get an error message that no internet connection to Apple was available — well, duh.] Not a problem for other shows in my library not purchased with AppleTV. Buying shows from the Apple Store for outage days is a waste of money because you can’t watch them on a nice big TV set.

The worst modern streaming app I’ve seen

AppleTV is garbage. Not talking about the shows.

My phone and iPad are both fully up to date and recent.

Why does this not default to playing in landscape mode when the video is made full screen? Every other major app does that. There is no world where I want what they do and no one else does it … for good reason.

Where is the list of things I’ve denoted as a thing I’m interested in? In every other app you can find these things readily.

Why do I have to jump through hoops to get to the main page for a show when I see a UI element I can click on to start watching? What if I want to go get show info? I have to go to another screen and search for it by name? That’s worse than any other app.

When I download shows why is that under my library? I clicked to download. Now I have to go to the library and THEN I see the option to view the things I’ve downloaded. This is badly designed.

If I’m watching a show and I pause and need to come back to it it can take minutes to start streaming again. 5Ghz router 300mb/s. It was streaming just fine until I paused it. I’ve tried force closing the program. Rebooting the device and also continuing where I left off in another device. Zero of the other major streaming apps do anything remotely like this.

The team that made this did a bad job.

Marvelous

Cher is extremely believable in a performance that proves what a great actress she really was many years ago. It makes you wonder what more she could have achieved if she had continued making movies instead of slowly pulling out of the acting phase of her career to focus on resurrecting her highly successful music career.
'Suspect' also showcases a very early performance from Liam Neeson who went on to become an acclaimed Oscar-nominated success in years to follow.
One must also give credit to Dennis Quaid who very easily pulls off playing Cher's romantic interest.
Since Cher is so much larger than life, it is usually not easy to convincingly portray her love interest.
He is confident and charming as ever and the tension & connection they have is a good one, which helps to drive the film when it occasionally slips into predictable territory.
'Suspect' will never be known as the best movie ever made...it's not even the best CHER movie ever made.
But it's extremely entertaining, engaging, and suspenseful with likeable, convincing performances that should not be forgotten after all these years.

Poor UX

Every single time I delete a downloaded video it disappears as expected and then suddenly reappears even though if I close AppleTV and reopen it is actually gone. This has been going on for months maybe even longer since I don’t really use AppleTV that much. I guess this is what passes for “world class” software from _the richest_ company in the world. SMH. It’s weird things and very obvious annoying bugs like this with a lot of apple software when I often wonder what is it that they are doing that they can’t fix this?

Also, is there really on 15 reviews in AppleTV Store for AppleTV?!

We find the streaming service among the worst we have ever had - stream just 'hangs', then continues (starts and stops, watching 'The last thing he told me' is almost painful); last week's episode is repeating this week - cannot get current episode; all-in-all, the worst streaming service we ever subscribed to.

Apple TV support put me on hold for 30 minutes, then, hang up and never got a call back. The happened twice in less than a week. I was very polite on the phone, but, it seems that the Apple TV support people will abruptly cut off the phone calls.
