Filmr - Pro Video Editor Reviews

I’ve been looking for an app where I could put audio over my videos. I had been using Instagram for it previously but it seems to have just updated and made their quality even worse for video making. Filmr allows background noise from the original video, doesn’t take away quality, has the option to save right to your camera roll without a water mark, and has many other super cool features!

Downside: I can’t find the search bar for different songs, so I’m forced to pick whatever is given to me. There are, however, many many songs and I am not limited to a handful. No subscription required.

So this is intended to be a vertical video editor which it does well, as well as standard sideways phone video editing. The editor is easy, intuitive and packed with nearly endless combinations of features and effects! Trimming, video speed, background audio, audio editing, etc are all there as well as features that go beyond your basic video editor app on iOS. Pro subscription is very flexible, offering by the year, by the week, and if you so please, a one time flat fee for lifetime purchase!
Now as stated, this excels as a video editor, but it’s execution on a camera recorder is poorly designed and lacking in many needed features. Not sure about most users but I experience lagging everytime I use their camera recorder, and even sometimes Filmr hangs up and shuts-down. Definitely needs manual controls (exposure, focus, white balance, etc) and more stable shooting, possibly image stabilization features akin to ProCam 6, etc. if this app can be fixed in that department then it’s a guaranteed 5 out of 5 stars!

FINALLY a video editing app that has all the features I’m actually looking for. As someone who is used to robust pro desktop editing software, I often find phone apps fall short on capability. Not so here.

The clip editing interface is simple and intuitive and even the free version is loaded with features - you can edit vertical video, rotate or flip orientation, trim and split clips with ease, speed slow or reverse them, add titles, filters, transitions, even adjust audio levels. I’m honestly impressed they squeezed so much functionality into Filmr.

AND it offers every export format you could possibly need or want. I’m sold. Just bought the yearly subscription.

I feel that I've finally found my go-to mobile editing app. It has what I've been looking for:
1. Vertical videos
2. Transitions
3. Music
4. Adjustments

I do wish you could use any music from Dropbox or Google drive. I download all my video production music from another website in which I have a huge library of. Having to forgo all that and use only apple music was a major bummer. It's probably the biggest peeve about Filmr .

Also, when will more transitions be added? I am not a fan of showy transitions. I like left and right quick transitions the most. The zoom transition is nice on here too.

I also wish you could apply/copy aadjusents to all layers like you could volume. And also having a custom LUTS library would be amazing. It would be a way for users to share LUTS with other users and also build the audience of Filmr.

I feel Filmr is on the verge of becoming the best video app. I already have tons of friends asking about it after making only two quick vids for my insta story. Filmr really does rock.

It has surprisingly cool effects you can use that I haven’t been able to find anywhere else. Only complaint I have so far is when you apply a filter over it, then you scale down how intense you want the filter to be, and once you tap the “before toggle” to see the original look and release it it sets back the intensity of the filter to 100%, yet it still shows the percentage at whatever you set it to. Because of this I have to nudge the scale a little to set it back to the intensity I set it at originally.
But that’s not enough for me to not give Filmr 5stars! Keep up the good work!

This is a pretty good app. I have no experience, but was able to get the hang of it pretty quickly. But after one project,I’m unable to make another project. I made my first project to get used to Filmr , and when I tried to make another, it asked me if I wanted to get the pro version. This wouldn’t have been a problem, just a bit annoying. But when I pressed the x in the corner and tried to continue, it kept showing me the ad(?) for pro. It won’t let me make another project unless I get the pro version! This is most likely just a glitch, but another reviewer had a similar problem and the Developer responded saying it was fixed. Please fix this.

So the problem is, when I want to import media for my second video, the premium offer goes up, no matter how many times I press the X. Then I either have to, restart my iPad(not sure if that even works...), delete Filmr and get it back, and the first time it did that, it basically cleared up after I did my first review. Please help meeeee. Thank you guys for Filmr, I just want you to know if I make gacha life/club mini movies, I will put a thank you to you.

Every time I finish selecting the photos I want for a project, it asks if I want to get pro. I would have no problem with this if it would let me decline it. There is no X on the pro pop up and I can’t even continue to work on the project. I exited out of Filmr multiple times and nothing changed except it just gets rid of the photos I selected. I tried seeing what this pro pop up was supposed to look like and it’s supposed to have a no thanks option but for me that option doesn’t show. I can’t actually rate Filmr if I can’t access it, so I’ll give it an average rating. I’m assuming this is a glitch of some sort or I just can’t find the exit to this pop up even after looking at it for a while.

I can’t give you any higher rating than one you take up a lot of memory and your as is catching but once inside it looks like a lot of complicated things to give it that wow effect but it’s the same things in I move and that’s free . When you all start to understand you may catch one or two but how many do you loose in that day or ask for their money if you can’t give anymore than just putting your videos all in one place then I’m deleting you have potential but your first priority was money and it shows did you forget you need people to spend the money maybe had you given the basics and lost all the complicated drama and made it way to use it may do a lot better I’m sorry but I have to delete I couldn’t start everything I touched had a charge

I was excited when I discovered Filmr because it’s free features extended far beyond the feature iMovie offered. I was added in a gif and I searched “square.” Results came up and they were exactly what I was looking for. However, my app crashed before I could click anything. Every time I search for a gif, it crashes. I can’t finish my short film project because of this inconvenience. My iPhone 7 is completely updated and I have tried everything. Filmr has so much potential, but I can’t use it if it keeps crashing. How can I fix this? If I can fix it, I will probably buy the pro version.

If your interested in Filmr my only warning is the free version leaves your video with a watermark. It’s not too big and slightly transparent and I honestly didn’t mind it but if that’s a probable for you buy Pro or go elsewhere. Other than that this was the first app that let me edit in music without making me pay. I’ve used it for 2 videos so I haven’t tried out many of the tools but the ones I used (music, text, transitions) worked fine for me. The in-app camera is low quality and I’d recommend using your phone camera instead. No complaints here.

Honestly this is a good app and I would probably use it for the next few years then delete it, but there are somethings I don’t like about it. Like how you have to get the premium one to use the whole app, and how you have to wait almost 20mins if you make something long. (Which is Understandable)
But what I would like for you to fix (this is optional) is how we can fully use Filmr , like give us more options to choose from, maybe another filter, or more background pictures. But Filmr doesn’t bother me much. Yet.

This is the best app I have for editing and creating videos. I can make a slideshow or a completely random one with little effort. I don’t even have any in-app purchases. and it still works great! There are a few features that are awesome that you could get with paying for a subscription, but they don’t bother you with ads for anything. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a way to edit or create videos!!!

I bought the yearly this app subscription and I really hope you guys add a Motion Blur option and a option where you can add more then one effect on the same clip , Filmr would be perfect with that add ons and I hope to see that option before my yearly subscription ends and it would be nice if you could raise the volume more than 100 on certain videos. I hope to see some add ons and updates in the near future. Thanks for your work

Thank you very much and I would ask you to please change your Premium option prices a little as well as put the option to save account because sometimes we mistakenly deleted Filmr and we changed devices and if we have the Premium option we lose it it would be better that it had more options of both filters and cut parts of the videos and make them faster without having to remove stop from the video (video speed)

Whether I was able to use 30 seconds of free Music of my choosing of artist and song I liked never bothered me but changing the search bar to the apps customized music for you is a bit saddening and the fact that you now have to buy all your songs you want to try on your videos and it’s even more aggravating having that “Epidemic sound” music bar as an option to find music. Logging into that side of the music bar came with another registration and coughing up money, I’m already an active member on Filmr paying and this is type of frustration we get ? I’m just not happy with the update at all. It was better and less stressful than this.

Made a quick edit to video in slow motion and thought it was awesome that it was a free feature and able to support 4K slow motion without a subscription fee. Definitely will consider purchasing subscription after experiencing this positive editing experience without cost, often free features are not what is needed and free apps process edits and download/upload at unusable slow speed, INSHOT was far faster than expected.

I’ve edited videos for fun for the last few years and Filmr has some really neat features and offers effects that I haven’t seen or had the chance to play around with. It is super easy to use. It took me a minute to figure out how to set the time on a clip but it was worth the trying to figure it out. I liked it so much I went ahead and got the year subscription, and that says a lot.

So I’ve been looking for a video-editing app that will support my Apple Music monthly subscription, and I was excited because I thought this would be it. So I can look at my music library in Filmr but whenever I try to use it it says I should download it to my device, so I did. I tried again but my downloaded music had disappeared from the list!!! I can’t figure out what’s wrong. I don’t know if the fact that I don’t use iTunes is the problem, or if there’s something wrong with my device ... OTHER THAN THAT Filmr is great and I love it.

I use Filmr the most out of the other editing apps out there. It’s easy, simple, and has great editing tools, in particular I like the transitions and the text. The only problem is that sometimes, the video will play (when reviewing) and only the play audio plays. Also I’m trying to save a video into my camera roll and it’s pretty inconvenient when my downloading progress gets completely interrupted (causing me to restart downloading) by accidentally tapping on the screen. Please fix this, add a lock mode or something.

I was an Adobe user when I had laptops that supported them but I work mostly on my phone these days. I’ve tried Adobe Premiere and various other video editing apps but this is by far the best. It’s easy to use and I can make good quality videos with it as well as just for fun videos - so it’s good for any user. I did have one big problem though when signing up for the free trial Filmr started to get crazy and it kept closing. I had to delete Filmr and reinstall so that made me lose the project I was working on. My suggestion would be to have cloud storage available.

let me say this first: this is an EXCELLENT video editing app! i use it to edit all the instagram videos i shoot on my phone. the downside (and it’s a big one) is that it CONSTANTLY crashes when i try to save a project in 4K at 60 fps. i’m not even talking about long projects, it crashes literally every time i try to save a a 30 second video. sometimes all of my data on a project just blacks out and i cannot use it, after spending ages editing and perfecting a video. very, VERY frustrating. if they don’t fix this issue soon, i’m afraid i’m going to have to switch services.
