Love Mubert! One small issue...

As the title states, I love the this app app! It’s one of my favorite apps & I use it daily. The small issue I am experiencing though is in the favorites section of Mubert . I’ve made an account, signed in with my email, and when I select new daily, or experimental stations, to add to my favorites, it adds them, however, after you fill up the screen/page (about 10 stations) the newly added stations get added lower on the page but they cannot be accessed. There needs to be a way to scroll down to access these stations. Again, this is probably not a big issue for most, especially if they don’t sign in and make an account and then add stations. I’m sure someone else has encountered this, too...so hopefully there will soon be a fix for this. Otherwise, Mubert is great!

New updated version (December 23, 2020). Nope!!! It was better before this new updated version. They say they’ve added new, more music...yeah, if you want to buy/pay for it! Many of the channels that were free before this update you now have to buy/pay for! I see the beginning of the end here with an app that was one of my favorites. What else can I say? This just comes across as a pure greedy move by the developers. If they had added new music channels as pay options, cool. But to take away ones that were free all along and now charge you for them...get lost! My original 4 stars is down to 2 stars (unless this app realizes this and changes it back).

I’m picky about my LoFi, but...

I don’t usually review but I was weirdly impressed with this and I saw it wasn’t getting a lot of downloads for whatever reason.

So, I’m picky about my Lo-Fi, and even more picky about my ambient study music. It has to be a certain level of detailed musically but also uninteresting enough that it doesn’t distract me.

Endel is good app for this, but I’ve recently switched to this one. I didn’t think I could be converted, but, I have to say, I study better, read with less distraction, and when I play it when I’m working, I find that I complete tedious tasks with an overall more positive and focused attitude.

The ability to flatten out the musical detail (for better focus) with the touch of one button was a really smart feature to add to this.

I’m really liking the fact that there is an infinite amount of new music (generated by AI, which you can “train” with a like/dislike option), but at the same time, there’s an extremely limited amount of decisions you have to make about it... so there’s no analysis paralysis when it comes to what to listen to.

For that reason, it’s kind of perfect for people who get lost when there are too many options, but get bored when there is too much repetition.

Passes the Turing Hearing Test (if one existed)

For what is being offered the experience is great. Dynamic noises and never any sloppy transitions through the music. I would be interested in the ability for this app to offer a more personalized experience for the user. This would require the model to more robust but I think would pay dividends along the line. For a more simple approach you could offer a Thumbs Up/Down to gain a users sentiment of the current track to offer more personalization. Future features like user uploaded .wav files of favorite music to add further personalization to the model would be neat.

This type of technology excites me so I just think of all the different types of applications that could be added in. This is among the first applications in a soon to come industry that has offered a great service. Keep it up!

Impressive

They really did different genres. The technology is built out properly for all of them. They didn’t just put different sound libraries in the same algorithm they tweaked the algorithm for each genre. It’s like going on a long musical journey. You know that what you hear is unique to the moment and it’s ever-changing (more for some genres than others) and it works. There are times when the sound cuts out for moments and I can’t tell if that’s Mubert or my Bluetooth or what. Even with that this is a cool app that does what it says and has continued to get better.

Data hungry, no "feel" app responds to like or dislike input

In a bit over 1 hour of listening, Mubert consumed nearly 200 megabytes of my mobile data. When I dislike something I feel like Mubert should try to pinpoint faster what I'm trying to dislike. I disliked 200 times a part of a song where there were cymbal sounds anytime they appeared. I never saw the track try to change itself...should it take more than 5-10 minutes to keep hearing them before I tire and change the track manually? Everything else sounded great but those cymbals on the track. Quite a shame.

So much better than Endel

Ok so I just downloaded this with the free trial and I already know I’m going to get the whole year’s subscription. I love it. So much more variety of music than Endel and for half the cost. Why didn’t I give five stars? it’s not available on intel iMacs 😑🤨, there is no watch app ☹️ and there is no Alexa integration. I hope at least two of the three are in the works. At least make a watch app if the other two are not possible.

Why did you teach her how to talk?

I use this all the time now for my work and I really like it! I think a way y’all could improve it would be to add a setting tab where you can adjust each preset for things like activity level, drama, brightness. I would even like to use this while running if it had an intense enough preset and it could somehow integrate with a running app. Also she (the AI) started adding lyrics and it’s not creepy at all.

Thanks for reading!

Little lacking but with some improvements could be 5 stars

This is a very unique simple and well engineered app. I have a few gripes which if fixed could make this fantastic. Mubert tends to want to stop play quite often unfortunately, this isn’t the apps fault just would be cool to see more genres or more variety. Lastly a equalizer would be a nice touch to adjust the over tone, bass , volume levels etc. so overall this is a solid app !

Future

It would be really cool if you could feed it music and have it stem off of what you feed it, to produce new music!

Current Review of Mubert :
I wish there was more information and verbose towards how the music is being generated! For all I know this could just be a basic algorithm to mix up sounds rather than an AI! I have no proof that an AI is there to make the music in the first place! So it would be nice to see the neural network or processing behind it all!
The music is really nice overall and Mubert does fulfill its perpose in making music; but it can get old.

Great selection + features, bad navigation

The UI for navigating between tracks is too limited and doesn’t display enough on screen. Track info is also too limited and doesn’t describe the difference between tracks. Some of them sound similar, and just having a name on the screen doesn’t say much. Endel is good enough for background noise and has much better UX. Would’ve been 2 stars for basic “AI music” and bad UX, +1 star for the interactive feedback feature.

Great app

I love the music and animations in Mubert , especially in dream mode, so I subsribed to a paid version. Relax mode doesn't feel "relaxing" to me at all though. Mubert has only one crash that I can replicate pretty frequently when I try to save video, and I so wish there was an option to click anywhere on the screen to show/hide all logos and controls and only leave music and animation.

Developer doesn’t respond

Signed up for subscription, which is unusually expensive in the U.S. compared to other real music services. Had a problem getting it to activate premium service, but there is no email listed on their website, only Facebook. Sent message via Facebook and got no response after days. Comically bad for a $7/month subscription. Canceled subscription and recommend others avoid until they actually purchase an email account or other method for support that a human actually pays attention to.

NO Landscape Screen Orientation - IPad (Really Guys?).....

As soon as you guys fix this. I will subscribe... I mean you really expect people to pay for a product that is positioned sideways during use... Developers, would you really every pay for a book that had to be read at a 90˚ ?

You guys should be paying me for this advice, not the other way around. You are a simple UI mod from taking over....

Although, a one time payment option would be nice too.

I love this so much

I’ve only been on this app for around a month (a little less) and I love it’s music. Only problem I have is that when I go to my faves I can’t scroll down or anything Soi cat click on them again, and I have a lot of favorites. So if Mubert can have a scrolling thing for the faves section I would love that.
And what does the activity “high” mean?

Kinda sounds like you want to replace real musical artists

It’s a cool app, but don’t kid yourself and act like music can be reduced to a bunch of generated sounds and can replace musical artists. It shouldn’t. Music is about so much more, humble yourself!

You have removed all MEANING from music and destroyed the community that comes with it. You’re one step away from destroying the inspiration of art and music by reducing it to emotionless algorithms.

So yeah, let’s NOT create a future where reality is simulated! And don’t be complicit in creating one.

Great

this app is amazing. I love how relaxing yet energizing the music is at the same time. Medium is a mix which I prefer while light is relaxing and heavy is energizing. Mubert can be improved though. The UI is intuitive (no complaints) but I would like to be able to use a chrome cast, smart tv, or Apple TV to play the music on. I love leaving the iPad connected to my smart speakers playing the ambient music it’s a small but very relaxing thing.

Very cool concept. Wish it didn’t stop!

Mubert is fantastic for listening endless chill beats. Perfect for working, walking, relaxing etc.

Being able to tune the intensity is def an intriguing premium feature. Did the trial and it really is pretty useful.

My one gripe is that, more often than I’d like, Mubert will randomly stop playing music. (Regardless of Mubert being open/in the background/on LTE/WiFi/etc)

Really like this but lots of room to improve.

I can’t figure out what the upside down heart means. Is it like a “thumbs down” to contrast with the heart symbol being a “thumbs up”?

Also, does giving likes work independently for each station? Like giving a heart in the relax station just impacts the way the relax station learns? Or does it also influence other stations (which it probably shouldn’t).

It would also be good to be able to train different versions of the same station. I might not always want to listen to the same style of techno for instance.

Finally, Mubert needs volume controls. It is too quiet when my headphones (BeatsX) are on the lowest setting, but if I increase the volume by one from the lowest it jumps from being too quiet to being too loud.

Great App - But no Password AutoFill or Pasting

Love the idea and the implementation of the generative music! Amazing stuff that make me want to look into procedural/generative music design more...

Sadly, Mubert doesn’t allow password pasting and does not implement AutoFill correctly. So in 2020 - an age of password managers - all account-based features are basically lost for a lot if people.

Hope this will be fixed soon, otherwise 5 stars. Looking forward to the next releases - will update the review.

I have a problem with this marvellous app.

Mubert is beautifully designed. I love the minimalistic design and the dark/black theme going, specially on the iPhone X.
I do have an issue though. Occasionally the playback stops for quite some time, and it may come back or it may not. This inconsistent performance leads me to think there is some sort of a bug. Please fix this. Thank you.

I love it but a few minor problems.

I love Mubert. I downloaded it on a whim and I’m glad I did. I’ve been using it to fall asleep but here lately, I’ve had a couple issues. Mainly the fact that the music will just stop after a few minutes. According to my screen, it’s still playing but no sound is coming out. I think a little bit more of an explanation on how it works would be great as well. Other than that, I love this app and it helps me relax at the end of a long day. I can’t wait to see Mubert grow and evolve into something perfect.

Artificial Serenity.

I love Mubert. Awesome music for work, or meditation. The use of binaural beats is subtle and it makes you feel really good. It has inspired me to make my own generative music, and also get more into the work of the legendary Brian Eno. I also love how it is super accessible and just easy to listen to in general. It all sounds great together. I spend most of my time in the ‘Heavy Techno’ channel, or the ‘Future Bass’ channel. Awesome stuff to entertain musicians and fanatics everywhere! The this app Pro beta is cool and encourages consumer-level people to help out and make their own stream, giving the power to the listener to create their own intelligent generative beat-scape.

Thanks this app Creators,

Good genres options, wished there was a live pause

I really like the new genre options added. It lets me listen to different music. I wish you could pause the stream and play back from where you stopped. Right now it changes the song in whatever category you’re in. I like that, but I would have a separate button for that next to the live pause button. Maybe even have a rewind button....
