Mediocre experience

The fact that dictation processing happens in the cloud and requires a subscription is really annoying. The user interface has a bewildering number of buttons and it isn’t instantly clear what each button does. Most bring up new menus with too many options. There’s things like a gear menu and a hamburger menu visible at the same time, or a record button and a microphone button on the same screen. If your cursor is in a text field, you still may need to manually open a keyboard. Dumb design choices are everywhere. I frequently found myself wondering how to do something as simple add text or god-forbid dictate to the dictation app. Mind you, I could figure it out after some tinkering, but this is a note taking app and it shouldn’t need a tutorial or a manual.

No one needs half these features. The features that are needed aren’t the design priority. This is shoddily done. These people aren’t selling an app, they’re allowing you to pay them to keep developing their half-baked project. They got me suckered into a free trial and I still couldn’t find the premium features. Yikes.

The best note taking app available

I truly believe Noted is the perfect app for anyone in school or who is in a professional atmosphere where note taking is important- honestly you could even expand that to include anyone, using Noted to organize their day to day life in general.

I love how organized you can be, recordings, text notes, pictures all set into specific notebooks. There was an issue I had where I had accidentally placed my recordings from one of my notebooks into the “archives” and I could no longer share them with my classmates or continue to use them in the way I had been. I could not for the life of me figure out how to move them back into the folder I had intended them to be in, so I sent an email to support and they got right back to me explaining how to fix the issue! I was very impressed to say the least:)

Great potential, a joy to use

It’s a joy to use this application. This this app iOS app puts audio notes front and center and makes the audio location explicit and easy to jump back to. I can listen to my audio books, annotate them and easily find the interesting sections again later. And when listening to a recording again, I can now finally see my previous notes and edit them as necessary or add anything missing. Let’s just hope that Noted will be further improved and supported for many years, which sadly doesn’t seem to be the norm with mobile apps of this category.

A missing feature that I cannot live without is audio controls on lock screen (rewind/fast-forward by x seconds)

NOT for TRANSCRIPTION - What’s the purpose again?

I’m sure Noted can do something useful for a certain population subset, but that target audience just doesn’t include me. So disappointing.

I thought the purpose of Noted was TRANSCRIPTION (with some extra tag features to find important audio info quickly).

When I read Noted description prior to download, I had a picture in my mind that was completely different than the actual app. For those with poor verbal memory, like me, I thought I would be able to read an article out loud or record someone speaking, and Noted would do a better than average job understanding and transcribing the audio into written type.

Uh, Nope. Transcription is such a non-strategic part of Noted that the owners had to write how to get a transcription of a recorded audio. I followed those directions and still couldn’t get Noted to transcribe. I could search more or contact the developer, but it really should not be this difficult.

This is what I thought would happen…
Push a button. Record. Either transcribe while the person is speaking or…Push another button. Transcribe.

Unless I use dictation, instead of record, I have yet to get Noted to transcribe the audio. BTW, using the dictate microphone instead of record means you CANNOT SWITCH APPS to read the article you want to record. Hmmm.

Where is the Support

I recently download the this app app. Tried it at church on Easter Sunday, 4-1-18 and and was pleased even though it requires some additional practice to fully understand the features. On Sunday 4-8-18 I tried using it again to record and take notes at a conference. It seemed to work, but then later it disappeared. Actually both of the notes/recording disappeared. Then Yesterday they reappeared. Now today they disappeared again. Frustrated I tried to find support. Went back to Noted Store found “?” which led me to a promotional site, which was no help at all. I am now asking where are my notebooks and where is the support for Noted. I will be glad to update my rating and my review when I get answers and hopefully my notes and recording back. Bert

My favorite note taking app ♥️

I adore this app! It’s simple, fast and makes capturing my thoughts on a whim a breeze. I use it as my short term memory tool. I store everything in there from time tagged meeting recordings via iOS and Apple Watch to more in depth planning and scheduling via the Mac app.

Recently I had an issue with the new dictation feature on iOS not working for me, and their support was able to help me out and get the issue sorted in a matter of hours. (Turns out it’s a weird glitch in iOS rather than Noted ; if dictation isn’t working for you try disabling your dictation language in iOS’ settings and re-enabling it, fixed things up for me and dictation works flawlessly now.)

This app changed my entire workflow

LOVE this app+. Really, they have seriously changed the game for me in regards to note taking, dictation and referencing. As a project manager, it literally cuts down my time reviewing notes by more than 75% and I never miss important details (I actually capture way more of them!) The Apple Watch version is also on point. I honestly don’t even remember how things were before I found Noted. I cant rave about it enough. Blows ALL other note taking apps OUT of the water. I cant wait to see what they have in store for its future.

A special thanks to Rachael from the support team who recently helped me renew my yearly subscription! Thanks Rachael!

College Notebook

As a college student using this as my lecture notebook for multiple classes I have found that there is a lot that Noted can and can’t do. You can gracefully drop screenshots into your notes, easily review lecture notes and audio, and scroll between different subjects very quickly. The best feature is having all your notes together in one convenient place! But as I continue to use Noted more I wish that it could do more things like change font types and colors, insert PDFs, and allow you to format your notes in any different way than everything to the right. I plan to continue using my subscription but I hope there will be an update that will allow me to do those things!

Almost perfect

Works well, I like the audio tagging a lot, and the Home Screen widget is a good reminder for me to journal more. The fact that I can both ramble via audio and create a succinct overview immediately after is a game changer for me.
One thing that I would love to see in the future is collaborative notebooks. Connecting in new ways with loved ones has become a priority during the pandemic, and I feel your app could easily allow parents, siblings, distant friends and relatives, etc. to keep up on each other’s lives in a more personal way.
Love Noted overall, keep up the good work!

A fantastic lecture note/recording app

And very knowledgeable, personal, prompt customer support.
I am not a techie, but I do rely on my iPad to be my do all. this app fits everything I want in a lecture recording/note taking app - it is simple to run, simple to reference, complete re-play of the lectures, and I can print or use my pencil taking notes. It is sophisticated app. When I did have problems opening Noted , customer support was quick to diagnose the problem and update Noted . Everything is backed up in iCloud, so no worries if things go really wrong. I would recommend the subscription; for just a few dollars, I get no worries and great lecture review ability.

Record online meetings audio

I like Noted, I used it for last couple of days at office recording meetings, adding tags at key points, then going back to listen to audio to fill in the details. Allows me to discus with out worrying about missing something important.
A lot of my meetings are over Skype for Business, or Zoom, Microsoft Teams will be coming in next month to replace Skype for Business.
Love for this to record my call made on my iPad Pro 11” 2018 using my headset and mic. I have dongle for wired headset and mic, but would also love to use over Bluetooth headsets.

Also, and I see it mentioned in FAQ, yes some of us do read them, Transcribing Audio would be awesome.!
Also, more sharing abilities, especially with those not on iOS or MacOS. Ability to share text and audio with the tags with my PC office mates would be terrific. May need a Windows version or at least an HTML 5 Browser edition to do that I imagine.

Keep up good work, I look forward to your updates to this useful app.

Meaningful recordings

I’ve gone on a quest to reduce the number of apps that I have on my phone, and keep only the ones that make sense to me. Noted is one that makes sense because it gives context to any recording you take in your life. Rather than having to search through all kinds of recordings from the past and figure out which important topic was said when, this app makes it easy for you to parse out key bits while keeping entire recordings as back ups.

Fantastic support as well, and app will continue to be part of my workflow. Look forward to future updates!

Undo is Too Close to "O" and "P"

Loved Noted. Tried it out on a whim and quickly made four recordings and will more than likely buy the full version.

The premise is great - being able to write notes and see the timestamps while you're recording, to be specific. I have yet to explore the full extents of Noted , and I'm excited.

However, my only complaint so far is that "undo" is too close to the "O" and "P" keys. And it doesn't just delete one letter; it depends sections. I take short, concise notes that extend to four lines. If I over-extend and press that button accidentally, I lose a significant amount of data. If I didn't develop a habit of capturing screenshots, there's plenty of information I never would have captured.

And it cost money to be able to create more than a handful of notes?

Please fix this. Add a "redo" button if anything. Whatever's easiest. It's a stain on what's otherwise a stellar app.

I won't feel comfortable purchasing the full version until then. 😕

Oops—I was hasty and gave it five stars but... No looping?

It’s amazing as is, but what I need it for most often (Writing and/or learning my own lyrics and melodies.) requires looping the audio file. Full file would be GREAT, but an A-B Loop option would be SUPER AWESOME!—That would deserve a 10 Star rating! I do have audio editing apps for that, but this would blow those out of the water for various reasons. Also, exporting audio as a video file directly to the photo app (Something they also do.) would be the ultimate third feature I’d like to see added to this, otherwise, it’s a great app.

So glad that I’ve discovered it!, so much potential

I was looking for an app like this a time ago, to efficiently jot down notes whilst capturing audio, and notes does it marvelously, tagging is amazing, I can easily go back to the moments in a lecture, conference or meeting that were important.

The only negative side of notes is unfortunately the monetizing model of subscription based (vs one time payment), sure we can understand and have arguments about the profitability model, but it this market of cluttered apps, the subscription based model has become a bit overwhelming.

Was great at first, then got much worse.

So in the beginning of having Noted, I did the one week free trial and it was great. Noted was very responsive and never froze. Now, after having purchased the year subscription, Noted is now:
- Slow to respond to touch
- Freezes after taking pictures
- Freezes when typing
- Freezes in camera when trying to cancel
- Keyboard glitches out after coming back from taking a picture
- Not even touching the screen and still freezes (can tell it is freezing because the time stops counting on the recording)
- No time stamps happens when there are empty lines past where the cursor is
- Highlighting is slow to respond to dragging

If these things get fixed and these things added, then I might consider paying for another subscription period.
- Should be able to back out of a note that is recording to look at another note and still stay recording
- More colors to highlights
- Audio connected to each word, not line

Such a great tool that I wanted years ago

Noted reminds me of Livescribe where you were able take written notes and replay conversation that happened during the time you wrote something.

One thing that would make this a killer app is to add the option of recording computer audio on top of whatever mic you have. This would allow you to capture conversation in a conference call while having headphones on.

That’s how Noted gets to 5 stars for me.

Audio Visual Learning Fully Engaged

This is what’s been missing and I never believed no key had anything of the sort. And out of nowhere, boom! Noted is incredibly easy to use and well thought through. All the way down to the EQ, which helps you sharpen room sound which is not always the best right? The genius here is the ease of use and accessibility of the “#” key. It simply changed my note taking experience, including capturing those illisible ideas I have when writing a screenplay!

Kudos guys!

Subscription fraud - BEWARE

I signed up for an annual plan with a one month free trial. I have screenshots that prove it (I always do this. It’s the easiest way to create a reminder to keep or cancel).

this app changed my annual plan to monthly and ended my free trial after one week. I was billed three weeks early and at a higher price.

I wonder how many others will soon notice this fraud and demand Apple take action. From what we’ve seen with other apps abusing the subscription policies, that only happens once an influential blog or news outlet gives attention to the problem. Little me called Apple and they could not have cared less. They’ve learned nothing from past developer rip off schemes. Even the people first reporting the Group FaceTime bug could get no attention from Apple until the media got involved. To recover a $.99 loss, it’s already been an annoying and expensive waste of time (and I wasn’t even offered a refund despite offering to send them the screenshot evidence).

This is why Apple is starting to rot, one small “error” at a time. Duly this app.

Needs more features

This is a good app so far, but it misses some features that would normally be included in other notetaking apps. The first one is the ability to indent bullet points. When you’re writing notes, it’s usually a given that you’ll have nested bullet points, but Noted doesn’t allow for that. There should be more headings, even customizable ones. The highlighting on iPad is very buggy, as in sometimes it won’t highlight something I select. It also doesn’t highlight any tagged words. Overall, Noted is good, but missing some key features.

Great app and amazing customer service!

Been pleased to see Noted improve and particularly excited by dictation feature just added. Ran into an odd issue with dictation if you had non-English keyboard first in list, but support was astonishingly fast to work with me to diagnose the problem with multiple emails and things to try, and resolved the problem. Love that I can synchronize across phone, ipad, and mac. Highly recommend giving this a try!!
