There is a ton of potential here

I have begun to use Expeditions in my high school science classroom to allow the students to explore concepts such as cells and and the nervous system. Many of the components of biological systems are difficult for students to visualize and sometimes diagrams don’t cut it.

Expeditions provides a free way to supplement what the students are learning in class. But...

-Guiding an expedition can be difficult if the WIFI does not synch correctly. I wish there was an access key that students could type in (similar to Kahoot and Quizizz) so that they can join my Expedition that way.

-My class does not have VR headsets but they do have iPADs. This works fine as long as the selected Expedition has the option to view in full screen. BUT Expeditions locks the user in and does not allow my students to split the screen so that they can type answers on a worksheet that is paired with the Expedition. If they exit out of Expeditions to complete the worksheet, then the Expedition starts over from the beginning. (Yes, I know I can print the worksheet out for them but my school pushes us to be as paperless as possible).

I still recommend checking this out, as it is a great and innovative app that can help bring any subject to life for the students.

I love this idea, but...

I love the idea of using this in the classroom, however the guide feature is lacking. Most school WiFis are not all that great. Not to mention, they probably aren’t configured right to allow the connection (as is the case with our school). I wish Expeditions had a coded entry like when using Kahoot in class. It would make it so much easier plus multiple people on the same WiFi could lead their own virtual field trips without issue

No info.

With this new update when you guide a tour and click on a hotspot there’s no more info on it like in the previous version.

Good but there is a bug

Expeditions is great in all but there is a bug when you click the little three lines in the top left corner it shows the menu but when you click the help with markers it crashes please fix thank you for your help

I’m rating it now

Even tho I’ve just downloaded it. My 93-year-old father recently lost his bride of 70 years, my mother. I am going to download Expeditions and take him on a wonderful trip maybe to Paris sitting down of course. Stay tuned.

I’m in love

This takes a few moments to load first time but OMG! It allows one 360 views of so many things I would never get to see if not for this. So far I’ve been on the holiday tour of the White House and to The Great Wall of China today. Bravo.

Potential

I teach World History in high school. Expeditions has immense potential.

Colored squares bug

I have been trying to use Expeditions with my students but when they try to view different areas all they can see are colored squares. They cannot see any of the areas we are trying to ‘explore’.

Amazing, feeds my soul

I love Expeditions so much. You can get a 360 picture(s) of any place in the world, anytime. LOVE IT!

Pretty good

Cool. I just need it for school today. Ok bye

Pioneer

Google has delved deeper and deeper into the education market. With it’s free GSuite for Education software, Google continues to add services to benefit educators and students. The this app tool was embraced in classrooms beginning in 2016. Expeditions allows the opportunity to explore the world outside of their classrooms with VR field trips with over 1,000 virtual-reality and 100 augmented-reality tours. The field trips themselves are beautifully engaging explorations of experiences many students would not have otherwise.
Mobile devices and VR viewers are used to experience Google this app. These devices can be used to explore and tour museums, art galleries or colleges. They can also experience things like swimming underwater or navigating our solar systems without leaving their classrooms. this app kits purchased through suppliers contain tablets or mobile devices pre-installed with Expeditions , viewers to seat them in, a local wi-fi router, chargers and a storage case. Not all of these items are required to experience the this app so there is also an opportunity to build your own kit or explore on your own with the minimum of a device, a viewer and Expeditions .
This virtual reality tool was one of the 1st of bring VR into classrooms everywhere with it’s inexpensive Google Cardboard viewer. It is easy to use and completely engaging. The library continues to grow, offering more and more opportunities for immersion learning. Expeditions itself can also be experienced without a viewer. It offers 360° tours using the devices accelerometer. In addition to the expanded VR library, it has added AR to it’s repertoire. With all that Expeditions has to offer, it is a definite must have for classrooms.
