The short version is this: this has truly been one of the worst customer experiences of my life. I was very excited to get my new Traeger 575. I specifically chose this model because of the wifire functionality. Unfortunately it has been INCREDIBLY disappointing. I been working for WEEKS to get it to connect to the app. I went through all of their online troubleshooting guides, factory resets, etc. Nothing. I called customer service only to wait on hold for over 2 hrs. The rep was very friendly and walked me through his troubleshooting process. Nothing. He told me he was going to escalate this to their IT team and I should expect a call in 3-5 business days. It’s been over 2 weeks. Nothing. I called back in and waited another 2 hrs, spoke to another friendly rep, repeated the same steps. Nothing. I called Ace hardware to initiate a return. Because I ordered it online from Ace it actually drop ships from Traeger. The Ace guy called the regional manager for Traeger and explained my situation. The Traeger guy told me that I can’t return it just because I don’t like it, and suggested I call tech support again. Don’t like it?! It doesn’t work!! This has truly been one of the most disappointing customer service experiences of my life. I’ve listed it for sale on Craigslist and will replace it with a Rec Tec.

Only thing good I can say about this app is the recipe resources. But the number one thing this app was made for, the ability to remotely control the grill over WiFi, they have designed it to not work unless you allow access to your location and your entire network. Both things of which are entirely unnecessary to the functioning of WiFire. I have a dog feeder that works over WiFi just the same and it doesn’t as for that information and works just fine. Customer support claims it’s so they can tell you where all the places are to buy Traeger products. Which if you bought one of their grills pretty sure you know where they are so to use that as an excuse to deny access to the ability to use WiFire is a poor company decision. And being that they also made a poor choice to manufacture their products in communist China, that decision to tie features to whither you toggle location services or network access on/off is very sketchy. If they make a better choice for the customers and change this requirement I will give a better rating and change my opinion of the grill when I talk with people about it. But until then if you deny people the main thing this app is for and one of the bigger selling points of the grill, this app is worthless and doesn’t even deserve 1⭐️.

I hope this review saves someone time and money. Buy a Green Mountain Grill, you get more for your money and the WiFi actually works!
I have a Pro 575 with “WiFire”. The grill by itself work fine, but the additional $$$ for the WiFire (which never works) is a complete waste. I believed Traeger’s advertising about the WiFire capabilities and was I miss led. The WiFire has been nothing but disappointments since the day I assembled the grill. Traeger customer care has not been helpful. I have over 30 emails back and forth trying to figure out the issues, they say “oh, you just need to update your app/grill”, “your signal strength is to low”, or “can you move the grill closer to your router?” The app/grill is up to date and the grill is less that 10’ from my router and is separated by a window! The customer care rep that I last spoke to on the phone didn’t even know what their app or grill menu looked like or the options for either of them!! How can you help someone with a product you don’t know anything about?
If you want to pay to much for a pellet grill buy a Traeger, if you want to pay even more for a WiFi pellet grill (that doesn’t work) buy a Traeger. But if you want to save money, get more, and have a WiFi grill that works, don’t buy a Traeger.
