Good Information. Terrible App.

I believe that The Local must spend all of their money on reporting the news and none of their money on their app. It functions only as a web browser. No saving of stories. No search function. You are better off using your mobile browser-even with a paid subscription. Don’t bother with TheLocal.

Non functioning app

If you want to subscribe and read this it has to be from your computer. Also, the news doesn’t change very often. I think they are having growing pains. I wrote and received automatic responses with dead links. Very frustrating. Paige finally wrote and offered a refund.

The same thing happens with my subscription. The never ending sign in loop on the phone and the apologetic emails with dead links and finally Paige writing to offer a refund. I didn’t want a refund, I want to support this really great idea.
Now I’ll try reading from my computer.

Love The Local!

Great resource for local news in English. Just moved to Sweden, haven't mastered the language yet so TheLocal is a valuable little helper. They must have fixed TheLocal , the other reviews say TheLocal doesn't work, works perfectly for me. Nice mix of entertaining and useful content. Thanks!

For the love of all things holy

It is absolutely impossible to sign in. There is nowhere to enter my password and the email link just puts me around in a circle. There are articles I want to read, but I can’t access them.
Also…
*how does one search keyword content?
*links in the articles to related content don’t work!

Was a great alternative for keeping up to date with current events in Deutschland spontaneously, now they‘re charging. I will just watch the news lol

App not working

The Local is a great source of news if you’re an English speaker living in Europe. But TheLocal has been bugging for the past several weeks and gives an error notice each time that I try to open it up. Please fix this.

App does not work. Support won’t reply.

I have contacted Support multiple times to try resolve my problem with TheLocal . No replies to my emails. I have paid the 2-month sub fee TWICE and app doesn’t recognize me. I have delete and reloaded TheLocal . Same problem. I have changed my password. Same problem. I would like to have access to this content. But I’m giving up.

Doesn’t allow me to log in

I paid for the membership to access the Local France & it will not allow me to log in. It keeps taking me to the account details page and sending me log in links. Once logged in, & try to access content it continually requests me to log in again.
What a rip off.

Login Nightmare

I can see others have been having the problem too. I am constantly booted out, required to log in, then told to do it again and again. Very frustrating, especially since this is one of the few services I pay for the premium membership!

TheLocal is just as bad as the website; I literally can't even pay to subscribe because it just keeps looping back.

How are these guys still even in business?

Seriously, they need to drop everything that they're doing and get their software together. Otherwise, what's the point?

Terrible ui

I paid for a year’s subscription. But when you log in, there a huge immovable button at the top of TheLocal ’s screen daring me to log out of my member account. It’s almost inevitable I’ll hit it by accident and then I’ll have to go through your interminable email-based verification scheme - terrible in its own way.

App is terrible

I enjoy reading The Local and pay for the premium service, but TheLocal is awful. Photos don’t load, many website features are missing, like finding all of the word of the day articles in one place. I contacted them and they said an update was coming, but it’s been too long.

Fix the login problem!

The content is great and totally worth paying gir but c’mon, fix the bug that makes me re-login every time I want to read something! Note that it says I am logged in, yet throws a pop-up to offer me a subscription or ask me to log in instead. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The update as of March 18

As of today, March 18th 2017, I have only been able to use the updated app once. It looked nice. Unfortunately it no longer works (warning that there is no internet connection when there is one).
It saddens me that after a week of this, no update (or revert to the old app) has been forthcoming. Sad.

Crashes constantly

Crashing while reading articles and takes several attempts - if at all - to log in asking for a password each time I try to use it. I end up giving up.

Not able to log in

I am a paying member but am not able to log in. When I try to log in it simply loads an empty web page. This is despite deleting and redownloading TheLocal .

Nice but missing essential features

Nicely working app, but no way to search for articles. It's organized by country, which is good; however, the home page shows mostly the worst death(s) of the day for each, or something related to terrorism or fears of Muslims. For a reader looking to get to know news of daily life in each region, it's sadly not very interesting in its present format. In fact, it puts you off. I hope the programmers will mix things up a bit in the future, or create the ability to select categories that the reader can choose to see.
