I’ve used FanFictionPlusAO3Reader for years and for awhile it worked fine but recently it’s been a pain to deal with, whenever a story is updated it doesn’t actually update and if I go into it and click force update nine times out of ten it just stalls on that loading screen forever, also it pulls up this weird loading screen to fanfic dot net and that used to be fine but now it doesn’t load and also it keeps interrupting my reading by pulling that up and stalling out. The stalling out and it trying to load has caused it to crash a few times as well, the issues popped up suddenly about a year ago so I figured it was a bug that was caused by an update and was hopeful it would be fixed but it hasn’t so I figured posting this review might cause the developers to look into it, I still use FanFictionPlusAO3Reader occasionally but it’s such a hassle that I just only use it to keep up on the stories I had favorited a year ago and don’t look for more on FanFictionPlusAO3Reader . Hopefully the problem can be fixed soon. Thanks

I’ve used FanFictionPlusAO3Reader for years, and it used to be amazing. But for the past year or so it’s gone on a downwards spiral in a bad direction. They added captcha (which; yes I know, they can’t do anything about) but that doesn’t make FanFictionPlusAO3Reader any less tedious and annoying. And I’ve been able to tolerate the captcha up until now; because NOW if I’m trying to download, or update a story; it HALTS my downloading progress with captcha. Which then stops any progress I hade been making with downloading my story, and makes me re-download it all over again. And sometimes it takes 3-5 times with captcha just for me to update or download a story. And GOD FORBID you have a story that’s 20+ chapters, because then downloading it with captcha is a nightmare. On top of not being able to read stories sometimes (that I’ve already downloaded mind you) if I’m not on WiFi or using Data. Using FanFictionPlusAO3Reader has just become very frustrating overall

Hi, I just wanted to say that I still really enjoy using FanFictionPlusAO3Reader and I use it all the time! I also want to say thank you for ensuring that even with updates, the button labels still work correctly. I am able to accomplish a majority of the tasks that I wish to accomplish using voice over. I had a thought, and I wondered if others have the same thought. It would be really awesome if my library would sync between the devices that I am logged into using my account credentials. I have an iPhone and an iPad and it would be really great if my library would be the same on both devices. Is there a way to make that happen? That would be really awesome! Thank you for developing and continuing to work on a such a wonderful app!

FanFictionPlusAO3Reader itself is pretty nice and rather handy as well. Easy to navigate and find what you’re looking for, plus it stores the stories alphabetically, i like it so far. My Grievance is the captchas. While in the past they weren’t an issue, now I cannot update a story that is above the 50chapter mark, it makes updating long stories very Annoying. Basically when I try to update a story with over 50 chapters, I’m hit with a random captcha that stops the updating process altogether, after completing the captcha, I’m forced to re-update the story and when I do, I’m hit with the same exact captcha but with no update to the story itself. Please fix this, it makes it annoying to read newer chapters.

FanFictionPlusAO3Reader used to be amazing. I’d read all the stories I liked, and could save them on my phone no problem. Then suddenly there were some issues. Annoying at first, but eventually it’s progressed to just being a shell of FanFictionPlusAO3Reader it once was. My stories wouldn’t actually save on my phone, at random times it would go on to a loading screen for Capcha or something whenever I pressed on a chapter or story, and in the past certain stories or authors I had previously gone to just wouldn’t load at all, even to read while connected to internet. I don’t know what’s going on, but I keep deleting FanFictionPlusAO3Reader because it’s just so bad, and then downloading it again to see if the bugs have actually been fixed, but they never are. I’d rather just have the old version back where things worked just fine. As FanFictionPlusAO3Reader is now, it’s not even worth having.

I love being able to look for fan fiction with FanFictionPlusAO3Reader! It’s easy to use and there’s all kinds of genres and topics to choose from, and I really appreciate the freedom of it. I just wish that some of the authors kept up with their stories! So many unfinished ones.
The only thing I’m confused about is how to share my own fan fiction so others can read it. I understand that FanFictionPlusAO3Reader is primarily for reading stories and not publishing them, but obviously there’s a way to publish them so that people who download FanFictionPlusAO3Reader have access to them. How does that work? I’ve been what seems like all over kingdom come trying to figure that out haha.

I downloaded FanFictionPlusAO3Reader last summer and it’s been amazing. The formatting is good, I like the audio option, the organization is simple. My only problem is that I can no longer read stories offline. I volunteer every weekend at a camp in the deep woods, so WiFi and reception are kind of spotty. I used to be able to download a story and read it up at camp, but lately when I try to do so, FanFictionPlusAO3Reader will just crash instead of loading a chapter. I’ve double checked that the story is downloaded and everything, but it will still crash. No big deal, I’ve been bringing paperback books with me now, but it’d be nice if this could be fixed :)

Okay, so at first I fell in love with FanFictionPlusAO3Reader, it was good for a few weeks BUTTTT, there’s a few issues: 1) Having to go through all the things until I find the story I was reading, it’s so troublesome for not being able to just read the story where I left off the night before.
2) THERE WAS A FREAKING AD FOR A PORN SITE? It had explicit things, people doing stuff, and although I know olderish people probably read on this, but there’s probably innocent twelve year olds who probably don’t need to be seeing this!! I decided after this little incident that I couldn’t just continue to read on this site for fear that my little cousins or someone might take my phone and end up seeing a porn ad!

I’ve been yawing FanFictionPlusAO3Reader since I was in high school. My only complaint is that it keeps doing this weird pop up thing to check the connection or something (it only happens with FanFictionPlusAO3Reader even though I have great connection). It will not let me update or download a new story for sometimes hours or even up to a day at a time. It extremely frustrating considering how much I actually read and how fast I finish a story. Definitely something the creators need to look into as it only started happening when I got the new update.

If I could give FanFictionPlusAO3Reader zero stars I would. I used to love FanFictionPlusAO3Reader! It was so easy to read all of my stories that I had saved, but now it’s an absolute nightmare trying to do anything on FanFictionPlusAO3Reader. Trying to update or save any story is the worst. If the story is more than 20+ chapter sometimes even less then it will not download or save. I have tried updating a story 10 times and it still won’t update. I can't even check to see if there are updates because I have to keep verifying I'm a human! And on the off chance that it does download it turns out it only downloads the first chapter and doesn't even load so I can read it, it will say “server can’t be reached” I just wish they would somehow fix the problem.

I discovered FanFictionPlusAO3Reader when I wanted to read all my favorite fanfics on deployment. FanFictionPlusAO3Reader is good since you can download any story and read it offline. It went downhill with the update when it wouldn’t even let you do that. It seems they have fixed the problem and it’s back to being great again though that captcha thing is really annoying. Keep up the good work and make sure the reading offline doesn’t get messed up again since that was the main reason I liked FanFictionPlusAO3Reader so much and possibly others as well.

I love FanFictionPlusAO3Reader to death, it’s good when I’m looking for a very specific type of story but I have one problem- it’s makes my phone overheat. I don’t know if other users have this same problem but whenever I use FanFictionPlusAO3Reader, my phone gets hot to the touch. I can’t even have it open in the background without my phone spazzing out. Then, because of the overheating, it also causing my phone to run slow and FanFictionPlusAO3Reader to become buggy. If this problem ever gets fixed it will definitely be deserving of 5 stars! :)

I really love FanFictionPlusAO3Reader, I've used it for just about all my stories that I'd like to read while on the road when my Wifi is gone. However, the number one bug that stops this from being 5 stars is the update bug.
Can you understand how frustrating it is to click the look for updates button and be told that you have 7 new updates, only for none of those stories to actually be updated? That's what's happening to me. I don't know if anyone else has this bug, but it's a major pain. Otherwise, great app.

EDIT: some how it has only manage to get worse since the last time i reviewed! this is all so upsetting, i've been using FanFictionPlusAO3Reader for years and now i can't read anything on it. i try to read a book and it says the server can't load! i'm so tired of nothing working anymore, it seems like with every update it gets more and more worse. i might just have to find a new app.

LAST REVIEW: so upset :( i've been using FanFictionPlusAO3Reader for awhile and now nothing works. i can't save stories and i also can't check for new updates. not to mention some books in my library are missing and i can't readd them because its not letting my save stories. i don't know whats going on

I’ve used FanFictionPlusAO3Reader for YEARS. YEARS. I cannot explain to you how disappointing FanFictionPlusAO3Reader has been over the last couple. It struggles with everything. It doesn’t know when to update stories. You can have stories saved to your phone but it still needs the internet for you to read them (?????) and it constantly asks me to prove I’m human. Beyond disappointed. Don’t get it.

If the developers bother to read this, please fix your app. It’s been malfunctioning for a while now and it’s gotten to the point where I’ve gone from using FanFictionPlusAO3Reader daily (I even paid for the non-ad version!!!) to barely remembering FanFictionPlusAO3Reader exists on my phone due to how unusable FanFictionPlusAO3Reader is.

The download process is quite easy and the search has everything I personally want. The biggest issue I have is that when I try to use the reload button to see if any of my downloaded stories have been updated, it'll tell me that over 15 or more have been updated! When I individually check each one of the "updated" stories, none of them are actually updated and I realized that I wasted my time reloaded all of these stories. This is very irritating to me because I can't stand the little icon that indicated that the story is update when it's actually not. Please fix this!

Recently FanFictionPlusAO3Reader has been giving me issues when it comes to updating my stories I have saved. I get the notification that an update is available so I go update and nothing is there or if there is a story no new chapters show up. Also I wish that my stories on my phone would sync with my tablet so I don’t have to manually search for where I left off or I can get the stories I saved to show up on both.

I got this because pocket fiction wasn’t getting any updates anytime soon and it looks the same when I got it some 2-3 years ago and so far I’m thoroughly impressed. I love the interface, the fact that it has a read to you feature and different color options for the time of day, which I would’ve given FanFictionPlusAO3Reader a 5 star rating for if it had a sepia option but maybe it’ll come later in an update. Otherwise amazing app 10/10 would definitely recommend to someone else

I really like FanFictionPlusAO3Reader and I’ve been using it for 2 years now or more i think.
But recently I’ve been having a problem with updating the stories. It says i have 540something stories that needs updating, though they don’t I press the update and it loads for a bit then FanFictionPlusAO3Reader shuts down so i have to open FanFictionPlusAO3Reader again and update 540something stories or more manually every time I update to check for new chapters

While I very much prefer using FanFictionPlusAO3Reader, it is next to impossible to update stories when new chapters come out. A Captcha has to be completed, which shouldn’t be a problem, but to complete the Captcha means to cancel the update, and once you’re done with the Captcha, you have to start the update all over again, only to have the Captcha reappear, and it will continue to do this for eternity until this issue is fixed.

I really like FanFictionPlusAO3Reader, but it seriously needs fixing.

1. If you do a general check for story updates, FanFictionPlusAO3Reader lists how many updates there are, and offers to run them all. But once updated, it can be very hard to tell which stories were updated (and which were real and which weren’t - there are occasional “false positives” on updates). That little bar showing reading progress is useful at the beginning, but when a story is over 80 chapters, the gray gap gets hard to notice. My suggestion: have a filter to only show stories in the Library with unread chapters.

2. Please add a feature to add stories by ID #

3. When browsing categories, even if the rating filter is set to All, it’s actually showing K-T. You have to switch the rating filter to M, then back to All, to truly show All.

4. It would be nice to have a “write a review” function at the end of a chapter.

5. More sorting functions in the Library would also be welcome, including sorting by the actual last update date for the story instead of the last time FanFictionPlusAO3Reader updated the story.

I love FanFictionPlusAO3Reader, use it everyday. I’ve reported bugs to the developer and they’re always quick to respond.

A few suggestions..I’d like the button for changing to audio to be larger and more obvious. I use the speaker portion a ton but I HATE that FanFictionPlusAO3Reader has to be open while it’s working. If it gets bumped it jumps in the story or repeats. I don’t know if this can be tweaked but I use it a lot and this would really help the experience.

Like I said, the developer is just excellent in being responsive to the fans suggestions. Thank you!!!

I love the dark background because it makes it easier on my eyes to read. The stories are efficiently organized and FanFictionPlusAO3Reader has not crashed once since i instilled it. Would give it 5 stars if it didn’t notify me of numerous updates, when the stories themselves were not actually updated. Also wished that when you searched stories you could have more specific filters, like we can search a story and choose “book” as a filter but it would be cool to choose which book.

It's an amazing app, but it crashes on me pretty often if I leave it running and open/have been reading for too long. Crashes also occur when I try to download too large of a story (A Subspace Emmisarys World Conquest), or check for updates. And speaking of checking for updates, I am also getting the False Positive on updates (for 2,388 stories no less), and I find myself unable to update them to fix this.

Update: Bug fixes? As if!
FanFictionPlusAO3Reader is a battery eater now — how can a text-reading app be a battery eater? It makes my phone get burning hot.

Often when the banner ad changes it makes the screen lock, so I have to quit out of FanFictionPlusAO3Reader and re-launch.

These combined with the useless search function make FanFictionPlusAO3Reader a total waste.

It’s lovely to look at, but not functional. If they ever get it to work, I’d be thrilled.

The search function is frustrating.

1) I swear if you’ve found something once it will hide it ever after.

2) it will not search by author — their names are more unusual, and would focus the results

3) results of searches seem random, not appearing in order of relevance to what you entered

4) it will not let me save anything to my “library“, making me begin the worthless, time-wasting search process all over every time I come back

That about sums up everything you do NOT want in this kind of app. Great idea, if it would only work.

Sometimes when I'm on FanFictionPlusAO3Reader a random noise comes from my phone even when the sound is off. It only happens when I'm in FanFictionPlusAO3Reader and it sounds almost like a video game character is collecting a coin. Other than that issue FanFictionPlusAO3Reader is just fine! Please someone say they are experiencing the same thing or that the creators are aware of this and it's nothing serious... I'm pretty creeped out at this point.

As a reading app, it's quite good. The ads are annoying though, more so because FanFictionPlusAO3Reader has a tendency to not remember that you've paid for the ad removal IAP, causing the need to completely relaunch FanFictionPlusAO3Reader and going through settings to restore purchase to get rid of them again on a near daily basis.

Update: the needing to force quit, reopen, and restore purchase issue has gotten even worse now that there's full screen ads with sound, to the point where I'd almost consider it a deal breaker.

As much as I love reading others’ stories, I can’t find ways to make my own. I was planning on making my stories to become the movies, books, TV shows and video games of all my dreams, but I don’t know how to start it or why the updates change to not being able to let people like me to make them all. But FanFictionPlusAO3Reader is pretty cool. I wish FanFictionPlusAO3Reader the best of luck.

Ok so I payed to remove adds a few months back, the adds are popping back up now. Iv hit restore purchase, but its still not working. The adds in the library are gone but using the search feature and reading to the next chapter makes a video add pop up. Other then that this is a really good app. Please fix this though.
