I spent $3800 on my GW security system and I’ve had many issues so let’s start with bought this for our shop as an upgrade from my old Swann system although Swan security system was not what I expected their customer service was pretty good. GW security has been nothing but a headache as far as networking to my mobile devices to monitor our business it seems that I can connect and I only see one camera in the list and when I attempted to access it and goes off-line please do note that I have one of the fastest AT&T fiber Internet so does not an issue there I also have AT&T mobile service and regardless how I connect I cannot seem to be able to access all the cameras while away from the shop. I tried many things such as setting up a static IP it did not work I tried to reset the system multiple times still did not work I called GW security USA over 35 times and not one single callback I’ve waited on the line for over 40 minutes a couple of times and nobody picks up it’s too bad because the quality of this device is pretty good but if you wanna monitor from abroad good luck
Very non-intuitive user interface, inadequate manual and help files, but mainly… doesn’t work! It has connected to my cameras sporadically, so I know it can, but at best it’s only been available less than 10% of the time—and lately not at all. No amount of resetting, reinstalling, etc will restore it. After all the time, effort and expense to set up my 4-camera wireless system, it’s really disappointing to have no remote monitoring capability, which I really counted on. Nothing worse than hearing a bump in the night and having this app tell me—per usual—that my cameras are all “offline”, when according to the base station they’re just fine (which I had to come downstairs to verify; so much for security). Due to this very weak link, I now have to rethink my entire camera system. My recommendation is to steer clear of the off-brand hardware (from a national bargain outlet) RXCamView is paired with and go with a professional installation, or at least a trusted name brand. Security is too important to trust to “sometimes, maybe” surveillance.
I am not to happy I have noticed that other people have complained about this same issue and This issue needs to be fixed ASAP so people can see the cameras when they are not home on there phone because I have issues with it not letting me see my cameras when I am not home please fix RXCamView ASAP It will show when it wants to but not all the time and I I very dissatisfied with RXCamView and the system and I am going to have to get a couple of cameras at least that are reliable and that I can definitely depend on please fix this problem ASAP still have issues seeing my cameras when away from home it works when it wants too they need to fix this issue
Camera feed loading to your mobile device is so slow. I could hear a noise outside(like a car ) and open RXCamView on my phone to see what it was and I’d miss it due to this slow app taking ages to load the camera system feed! I’m better off just walking to my security system and looking at the monitor b/c RXCamView is so slow and useless. The only reason I keep RXCamView is because I’d like to see what’s going on when I’m away from home and it has a rewind/playback option which is also flawed but at least I’d know what happened I guess... That’s IF I don’t receive the “not enough bandwidth” error and have to wait. It’s also difficult to playback accurately because it’s this slider which markers like a freaking Ruler you measure with. Now imagine trying to look back at a specific time on it. Placing(or sliding if you’re unsure exactly when whatever you’re looking for happened)your finger... on a ruler like line and getting the accurate time... Mhm
I’ve had this system for about three years now. The pro’s are, you can see clearly during the day, it records on a loop system continuous. Accessible from your mobile phone.
Con’s are, it’s not very clear at night. I’ve had several cameras go out and had to replace them, it’s a water system and takes some level of skill to install.
I would recommend getting a more advanced system with better cameras and wireless.
When I received my system the box was damaged and upon opening I found the CD broken into many pieces. I would like to have this disk and there were no instructions in the box at all about my system. Please send me both because I would like to know as much about my system as possible and I am considering placing the same system in my sisters home. I also have been called on several times by law enforcement to review my camera footage to help solve a few crimes in the area, my system help bring a individual to justice after burglar broke into several vehicles in my neighborhood including my own. I am convinced that this is the only system that I will have in my future home.
Do not waste your time on this so call security system. I have had it up and installed and have not been able to see the system at work unless I am at the property it self ,,, when away from the property I can Not watch it on my iPhone at all. I spent 250$ or 299$ and it was a waste of my money and time. RXCamView Software is crap as well. I set it up to get notifications and got to see the notification via email but I could not see any thing when trying to see once trying to look at the system from my iPhone or tablet. The property I was trying to watch on my iPhone is about 110 miles away bad choice Home surveillance I selected to purchase
I had RXCamView for over 3 years and it worked fabulously in my phone. However yesterday, I decided to changed the password to the system via RXCamView and I lost all access to my cameras! Ugh!! I have been trying all day to connect but I can’t. I was able to log in using this new password via the monitor but not RXCamView ! Why? When I add the device everything works until I add the password then I get a notification that it is “connecting” in red letters. But it never connects. Can anyone help?! It used to work just fine until I decided to upgrade my password 😒
I have been using RXCamView for awhile now and like it. However, RXCamView now immediately closes every time I try to record or snap a picture on both my iPad and iPhone to make a local recording. It does it both in live view as well when reviewing recorded video on the base unit. Thus making this program useless to save any important images. I don’t know how long it’s been this way. I’ve used these features before but it’s been awhile.
Sorry about this complaint here but I couldn’t find any other way to give you this feedback
GWSecurity USA products work and the remote viewing is excellent. I wanted a remote control and they upgraded my unit for free. I had one camera with a bad seal and they replaced the bad camera with a better model (do you see the trend here) - GWSecurityUSA will take care of its customers. I had one support call where the representative was rude and gave information that did not match what was listed on the website. I called right back and after a timely on hold (the worse part is long hold times) a tech came on and totally resolved the issue for this new customer.
The electronics are small, run cool and are well organized the same with the software. My only gripe is a cheesey remote control (but they warned me). I will be buying a learning remote and put the original remote in a box. Future reference buy a larger NVR than you need as your going to want more cameras (or maybe like me your replacing an older system and have unused extra IP cameras that are still good).
Kudos to GWSecurityUSA!
I purchased this system to upgrade my old 960p one approximately 2 years ago. I was really surprised by how easy it was to hook up and operate. Will definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable system to help monitor there property. I’ve already helped the local police department on 2 different occasions with not only still photos but sending the videos to detectives helping to solve cases in my neighborhood.
Next I’ll be looking to upgrade to a 4K system soon and I’m hoping this company can provide one
I know it negates a review when you say they are great for the price. But these are. Even at triple the price it is a great system. My son in-law loves a different security camera system. He pays 600 for the same thing. He swears his are more detail oriented. I just don’t see it. He cannot view unless he is in a WiFi area. I can view from anyplace on the road, anywhere. Except inside the house with the WiFi turned on my phone. If I turn it off on my phone, no problem.
I couldn’t be more pleased and satisfied.
It pretty much works as advertised. Very pleased with the instant notifications of motion detection when I’m away from home. We just had a break-in so this software lets me check on the house from anywhere instantly. If I could ask for one improvement, it would be to automatically take me to playback mode when I tap the push notification. I can see the live camera feeds immediately but I’d like to see what set off the alarm first then go to the live feed if necessary. Great software.
RXCamView works great. Much better than a previous app I had been using. Would like the ability if possible to move the time stamp to a different location on the camera windows. Some cover areas I wish to view. Also would like the ability to view six screens instead of eight. Maybe with one oversized window of the six.
Update: Still like RXCamView . Would like to see/have the ability to look at the camera system on my computer remotely. My camera system is on a different network than my computer system.
After using a variety of previous consumer grade surveillance systems and apps, I have found this app to be the best in design and functionality. It can be easily viewed in or out of the house as long as you have internet connectivity. At home I have set up an Intel NUC PC with a Viewsonic 24” touchscreen monitor recessed in the hallway to my family room that provides a watchful eye around the perimeter of my house running this app in full screen view. It looks like a very expensive custom security system at an affordable price.
I forgot by my password how do I get bak in
RXCamView is never give me a problem in all the years I’ve used it and I’m still learning rite along with all the new and improved tweaks they are always on top of any thing that goes wrong to make it right all I can say is good job guys keep up the good work if I can configure RXCamView then any body can it’s very simple to program thanks to the guys that design it if your looking for a very reliable app for your security cams I highly recommend this one here this app THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK AND ALL YOU DO
Have had this Cobra system now for almost 4 years , all cams work like the day I hooked them up.
Only problem ive ever had is the hard drive going bad. I called Harbor Freight service and they said I could exchange it …and I did just that!
My wife didnt like the set up with a monitor. Until 4 years later when she couldnt see who was there outside the house. She didnt like that vulnerable feel of not knowing whos coming to the door without seeing them first. Problem was remedied and she is happy now. Thank you Harbor Freight!
Hey everyone, RXCamView is great and it keeps on getting better. When I first installed it almost 2 y years ago, I thought it was great. I could see live stream while I was away on vacation or just at work. Now RXCamView has gotten better by allowing me to watch anything that was recorded. Only thing I would add is maybe an alert when there's movement, possibly on selected camera, but I know some ppl don't want their phones going off only cause the wind is blowing the leaves or branches around. Just a thought I guess and maybe allow the users to actually activate it or not. For all I know we already have that options but just have not explored RXCamView entirely. Either way keep it the best work 👍🏻
Every time I try to connect to the cameras via my iPhone off my home WiFi network RXCamView simply does not work. They need instructions with a port forwarding subject because everything I read directs me to that. I’ve tried to forward ports in order to see my cameras when I am not home but have failed to do so.
So after I wrote this review I found a really good support thread through cctv and was able to successfully connect my cameras to my phone using port forwarding and a public IP address that it assigned to the open network. That was the problem I was using a private network IP address that began with 192 but I needed to use a public IP address starting with 172 which cctv thread sent me to another website that gave me that IP address. No where in my router did it show a public IP address but I guess there is one.
It would really help if the instructions came with all this information.... RXCamView is great though.
We love our cameras. We have a set at home, at our lake house purchased a set for our sons business and recently purchased a set for a property in Florida. We absolutely love viewing the different properties on the iPhone and iPad. But, the instructions need to be written more clearly. It is very obvious the instructions are written by someone outside the US.
Still not sure how to replay or to set the receiver to call a cell phone if there is activity. Very much like the ease of purchase and the quality of the cameras.
RXCamView is very safe to use.
