Good for dine in, bad for online ordering

OutbackSteakhouse tends to work well for diamond customers but here is my review for the online experience.

This is second time I’ve had problems with the mobile app.
The application (app) takes the customer online to place an order. After taking the time to click everything you want and hit the place order button, an error appears telling me to call the restaurant. The problem here is the wasted time. If the application is not working, than don’t let me order. I thought the point of having an app was to make ordering fast and easy. Not having to navigate through the steps only to be told there was an error. Please fix or improve the experience.
I would also like to point out that the mobile app IS online ordering. The mobile app actually takes you to the internet to place the order rather than allowing you to use it. It’s basically a waste of everyone’s time to make it seem as if OutbackSteakhouse does anything more than send you to the internet to do anything in the first place.

Great Service

Kudos to our server Henry B. Outstanding service to my wife and I. Frequent checks to see if everything was ok and saw water and tea was always filled. Very friendly greeting and quick conversation. Made us feel welcome. We frequent this particular Outback and have for year primarily because of the caliber of people they bring on board. Henry has been exceptional. The food has not been disappointing while not always 100%, any problems we have encountered, though rare, have been addressed. Tonight was exceptionally enjoyable for the two of us. Recommend this Outback even though there is one much closer to our residence. It is worth the drive.

Issues

The server was great so was the food! Then we go to use OutbackSteakhouse and then the evening went right into the rapper!! It wouldn’t work for my husband on his phone. So this was a royal pain for me because he is an IT guy that knows what he’s doing, unlike me who has no idea of what’s going on 95% of the time. I get to sit here with the ap not working ( and that’s frustrating as it is). He is explaining that - 1 it’s slow, 2 2 it’s can’t scan the card , 3 would not complete the payment, 4 kept flashing an error so fast you can’t read it, By this time I am remembering the pre dinner issue that should have tipped me off- they ALWAYS say you have no wait even when it’s 25 to 30 minutes. If you can get OutbackSteakhouse to be more efficient then I will not have to worry about the last item- after it tried to process the transaction several times- I now get to wait until Monday to see if it went thru on his phone 4 times or not. I do know it was paid on mine and is ok on my end. Let’s see if you can get your crap together...thank you for your attention and future correction of these issues.

Great Place to Eat In; Terrible online ordering & Delivery Service

I love Outback steaks, appetizers & salads even though they are a bit pricey, but was extremely disappointed with their online ordering website & their delivery service. I was never able to complete an order online as the Place Order button would not work on any browser I tried. I always had to call to place an order. It took forever for most of our ordered food to arrive, sometimes up to 2 hours & the food was cold, the bread inedible by the time it got there. To be honest, the restaurant did comp me for the last & worst of those deliveries as I’m not up for trying again now that restaurant seating is available. I do wish they would bring back the crab cakes and pork chops for my husband, but otherwise, I’m still happy with dine in service.

Online wait list function is totally worthless

Don’t trust OutbackSteakhouse for making dinner plans! I checked the wait time for my local OB and it showed 5-15 minutes, so I proceeded to add my party to the wait list. Got everything confirmed and OutbackSteakhouse directed me to show up at 6:45. Arrived at restaurant at 6:45 and was told we’re all checked in now so go wait in the car... it should only be another 15-20 minutes. Wait!?!? OutbackSteakhouse said wait time was 5-15 and it confirmed my arrival for 6:45. It’s now going up towards 7:30 as I write this and we’re still waiting.

OutbackSteakhouse clearly conveys the message that you have a preselected reservation time, but that’s definitely not the case. I’m not sure how OutbackSteakhouse helped at all actually. Seems I’d be in the same spot if i had just walked in.

I’ll be deleting OutbackSteakhouse now and dining elsewhere next time. It’s honestly more frustrating for me to be lied to about wait times in OutbackSteakhouse than if I had just walked in and they told me it would be an hour wait!!

App works great but issues with meal

Dunes alone. Skipped the salad for veggies and potato but it wasn’t rang in properly. I also got an 8 Oz sirloin MR and was served a 6 Oz..and I know this because I am a long time regular and a chef myself. I never pointed this out but I have had issues with this location in the past year. It’s a shame to have locations like this. I have dined in Outbacks all over the country even HI. I used to be the chef at Tampa Bay Brewing Company right next door to your first location in the early 1980’s and my husband used to be a server for outback 26 years ago. I know my steaks and restaurants in general as I have many years of restaurant management under my belt. The food was great and my steak was perfectly cooked, we are in the middle of a pandemic too, but I had to report that this shortchange was a disappointment. Good day Mates.

App needs work

Great food, great service. Using OutbackSteakhouse was a bit clunky. Adding a CC the camera card scanner didn’t work. Entering manually worked but the newly added card didn’t appear in the card list, so I was tempted to re-enter the information but remembered the same thing happened last time. So I just hit “next” and it worked. I do like OutbackSteakhouse , but I can see that less technically inclined people would get frustrated with gaps like that. Last time I manually entered my CC information twice and gave up and asked the server to run my card. When I close and reopen OutbackSteakhouse , the new CC appeared in the list. Hopefully they can fix OutbackSteakhouse . Maybe it would work better if the restaurant had public WIFI.

Server and host point of view

In a server and host point of view, thank god for OutbackSteakhouse. It helps so much. I love when the customers come in and say they used OutbackSteakhouse . You can get their number and use that to page them. They can go to their cars and not crowed the host stand when it’s busy. In a servers point of view, I love when my customers pay on OutbackSteakhouse . That’s one more trip I do not have to make and that trip was saved for another customer of mine. Although, it is scary because you never know if they actually did pay on OutbackSteakhouse and you have to race to the posi to make sure they did 😂 I absolutely love OutbackSteakhouse.

A bit disappointing but...

Started off that our regular waiter was off due to the impending Nor'Easter due in a few hours. Boooo... but better safe than sorry! Then ask our server for a Fosters Pil Can. Get this, an Aussie OUTBACK didn't have any Fosters. Isn't Fosters Australian for beer? Grr... Then come to find out they don't have the Blue Cheese Wedge salad any longer. Disappointment after disappointment ended with an overall awesome visit. Our server Alex pulled it off, made it a great visit. She is absolutely awesome, great personality and on top of her game. Thank you Alex for saving the dinner visit. We'll be back!!!

App Update is a downgrade

Outback’s app update removed the stupid useless waitlist , which really was of no benefit at all anyway - as none of the waitstaff ever acknowledged its use. I always got seated after the party who walked in, in front of me. At least it gave an idea of the wait time- now, NOTHING!

OutbackSteakhouse is now only made for mobile ordering, which has became popular since the China Virus outbreak. It’s so popular that basically the restaurant no linger seems to care about their customers in the actual restaurant.

If I don’t have an app to check wait times, then I won’t even bother with Outback as a choice of where to go eat. Frankly, this restaurant used to be popular during the 90’s and seemed to have survived unlike a lot of other ones from the 90’s. Seems like just another legacy restaurant - sorta like iHop.

Very Disappointing

After a long day of travel from Illinois, we stopped at this particular Outback because we have had several good experiences there in the past. Our server was very congenial, but the service was abysmal. We asked three times for a few basic items - salt & pepper, steak sauce, and dressing - and we never received one of them at all. By the time she brought the others, our meals were cold. It was always someone else’s fault - the kitchen staff, the manager, etc. The manager stopped by our table to ask how our meal was, and we told her we were still waiting on several items. She wandered off and never checked back. We finally gave up and left half of our food on the table. Truly pathetic service!

Why Can’t I Order “Take Away” In The App

OutbackSteakhouse looks great… if you’re doing “dine in”. But I’m currently only doing take out orders from restaurants for obvious reasons. When I specify take away, OutbackSteakhouse sends you to their website. The website doesn’t work properly. It won’t let me log in. I can’t create an account because it says my email already exists. It won’t send me an email link to reset the password. Basically I’m dead in the water with ordering take away online. In my frustration, I wondered why is not doing this in OutbackSteakhouse in the first place. So, I have place take away orders in person and wait 15-20 mins. Please fix this mess! Put it all in OutbackSteakhouse and be done with this mess. I want to support Outback, but have to wait for every take away order is wearing out!

So glad to have Outback in Pasadena TX

We are so excited that Outback came to Pasadena TX. From the dine in experience, pick up, or delivery it has been an awesome experience. I think that is due to the great managers Mike and Stephanie. They make you feel so welcome and that your business is important to them. It’s like seeing a good friend. They have also hired excellent waiters like “Mike” who does an incredible job of taking care of you. The food is always consistently prepared.
Thanks for the variety of choices and reasonably priced items.
Great job mate!!!

Server was nice nasty

Server Melana comped an item because she assumed I was unhappy w an undercooked steak. No convo. When I asked about it, she said it was because my steak was undercooked. I told her that I would be pleased to pay for my entire meal. She took ten mins to bring me back an unedited ticket. She came back in 5 mins and asked if I was “ready to pay, but she didn’t want to rush me.” She was so fake. She’d stopped checking on me after I sent the steak back. I told her that I noticed, but would tip her 20% anyway. I did, but Melana put a little rain on my meal. Glad my favorite Outback with awesome and genuine servers are in my hometown -where they don’t serve a side of racism lite w your steak, lol. #MinnesotaNice

Outback app not recommended for making early reservations

Of course this was Mother’s Day, but when you use OutbackSteakhouse to make reservations at at 3:15 for 5 o’clock reservations and then you show up at 5 you still have an hour and a half wait to be seated; something is not right. Walk in customers were getting seated before our party of 6. So we just went to the bar to eat.

Check-in hostess said they would text us when our table was ready so we stayed on list.... Got the text at 7:45 on App... no text... we had finished eating and were sitting at home 😳.

No use in having OutbackSteakhouse if there is no consideration by the local restaurant (Rome, GA.) for booking early. You can get up to 20$ off bill once you complete three trips to restaurant if you remember to give the waitress/waiter your phone number.

Extremely slow and the app is terrible

The services as always been painfully slow but we went in tonight and there was a table with a sign that said for us to seat ourselves. We sat down and ordered drinks from the bar tender that was also waiting tables. Dinner was good but took a while. After dinner receipt said we can pay with their app. I logged into OutbackSteakhouse and it gave us a total of $118 even though the receipt in front of me said $57! For some reason it added two filet steaks to our bill(ironically what the next table ordered)! I had them fix this but the pay on app wasn’t very good. I had to click “Pay now” about six times. Hope I wasn’t charged each time!!

Does not work well

I immediately received a message that my info has been removed from my phone but that all my rewards were still safe. I tried to determine what my current reward status was, but could not determine if my email was logged in. When I tried to link my account rewards with my email, it said there was already an account with my email address which I knew already. I could never get my visit recorded in order to earn rewards.

When I paid my bill with OutbackSteakhouse , it would not let me email my receipt. When checking the email receipt option, I put my email address in. The PayNow button would not activate until I unchecked the email option. Strange behavior.
I guess the Dine Rewards will never be a reality for me.

Lost Dine Reward & Visit - No Reaponse

I accidentally added a reward I didn't want to use yet. OutbackSteakhouse wouldn't let me delete it. It said the server had to. She had the manager remove the reward so I could use it next time but it didn't get credited back to my account. Then it wouldn't let me pay the bill through OutbackSteakhouse . The server said she'd run my card and phone number and I'd get credit for the visit but I didn't. I have sent 3 emails but have not been contacted yet and my reward and visit have not been credited to my account. If you don't screw up it works great. We just had lunch at Outback and I used my other reward and paid with OutbackSteakhouse and we saved $20!

The app does not work

Trying to use OutbackSteakhouse is near impossible. I’m not one to write reviews, but they have left me no choice.
We asked the waitress for help and she stated that she had no idea how to use it. That’s great!
OutbackSteakhouse stated you could enter your visits after the fact, so we decided to not waste our time in the restaurant and we would enter it at home. Once we got home and logged on it asked us to wait 24 hours… I don’t know about you, but a lot happens in that amount of time around here, one can easily forget or just lose the receipt. Well, I waited 2 weeks because it said you have 30 days. Now I tried entering and it won’t recognize my visit!
We love their food, just not OutbackSteakhouse !!

App changed and it is the worst

OutbackSteakhouse has changed so you can’t pay through OutbackSteakhouse . Carrabba’s is still working like it should. Please fix this ASAP. So I got an email to use the web site and we visited again but we had 2 families and as I was told to use it and it said that there are more than one check use OutbackSteakhouse . Again I would give OutbackSteakhouse a ZERO NOW BUT IT WILL NOT TAKE IT. OutbackSteakhouse NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANCES. I CAN BELIEVE THAT THE PARTNER APPS HAVEN’T CHANGE. PLEASE PUT BACK THE APPS AS IT WAS AND MAKE AN UPDATE LIKE THE REST OF OutbackSteakhouse WORLD. WHO EVER MADE THIS CHANGE HAS NO COMMAND SENSE AND SHOULD BE FIRED. I HOPE THEY DON’T MANAGE THE SAME WAY YOU WOULD LOSE GOOD WORKER. This is a complete inconvenience to your customers. Please don’t blame COVID for this dumb change. This is a major inconvenience for me and others.

Needs improvement

First off, OutbackSteakhouse is very convenient. I can pay on it, I can look at a menu on it and I can get money back in my pocket. The issues I’m having with this is when I tell servers I have OutbackSteakhouse , they ask for my phone number but it doesn’t always go through unless I pay with OutbackSteakhouse (which can be annoying when I don’t have my phone). Second off the whole “plan a visit” never works. At all. And my last issue with it is I’ve probably taken pictures of a handful of receipts (in the given timeframe and not all on one day) and still haven’t gotten any check marks for those. Which can be frustrating especially when I don’t have my phone to pay the bill on it. Which means my visit doesn’t count. OutbackSteakhouse itself isn’t too big of an issue but there three points are enough to constitute three stars instead of four or maybe five.

Useless

OutbackSteakhouse is useless and has been for years. It will not allow carryout orders to be placed in my area - a major metropolitan area north of Baltimore. It shunts you out to the regular website. The regular website is just as annoying, and also has been for years, because it oscillated back and forth between letting you have an account and making you enter all your account info (including your car info for pick up) every freaking time you place an order.

We like Outback food, but having to enter all the information, and not being able to do repeat order (like my little dinky pizza shop across the street can!) is infuriating. For a national chain, it is really pathetic and sad that they can’t get a simple mobile commerce service right.

I’ve been making these same comments for years, no change.

What really burns is that after entering all your personal and order information each time, the website asks you about your experience. One of the questions is something like “if you had not been able to use our online ordering service, what would you have done?” This possible responses include things like “gone somewhere else,” “ordered by phone,” “gone for table service,” etc. I guess not enough people are saying they’ll eat somewhere else, so they don’t bother to change a thing.

So much unnecessary hassle for what should be a very simple fix.

Server was great not the food

This is the second time I have issues with the food at the location (82nd ave Flagler st miami) the first time I came in an hour and a half before closing time and the rice I received felt it was old and I really couldn’t eat it. Today I decided to give it another try but unfortunately it didn’t went good at all. I had to sent back my steak twice and my son’s once because it was cooked incorrectly, by the second time I sent my steak back I decided to tell the server to just leave the side and not to bring me another steak since I had already lost my appetite. Server told me he was advising the manager about the situation but the manager never even came to the table. This is definitely the last time I come to this location.

By

Improvement

I’ve been using OutbackSteakhouse for a few years now. I tend to forget to put my name on the list but it is a convenient feature to have. I do wish I could place a to go order directly from OutbackSteakhouse instead of it re-directing me to the mobile desktop version.

I am glad they finally fixed the payment issue. Previously I would have to tap on submit and it would glitch and refresh to the same page. I would then have to close and reopen OutbackSteakhouse and start the process all over again.

Payment difficulties

Over all I have had pretty good luck with OutbackSteakhouse but occasionally have trouble paying with it.
It would be nice when getting on the waitlist to be able to request a table vs a booth due to my handicap sitting at a booth is difficult and I can’t tell the hostess/host until I get there and it adds time to the wait to be seated and defeats the purpose of getting on the waitlist.

By

Disappointing. Of Limited Use

Even if you use OutbackSteakhouse to put your name on the list at a restaurant, when you get there you still have to check in with the host or hostess, for them to look up your name and "activate" it. App description and menus imply that you have only to await your text. Speaking of text, even after checking in with the host, I still never received a notification or text. The host just called my name out to the waiting crowd. "Yeah, OutbackSteakhouse is glitchy sometimes," was the only explanation. So we have to check in with the host/hostess upon arrival anyway, and no notification was sent to the phone. What was point of OutbackSteakhouse again?

Outstanding service

We travel a lot and eat at a lot of expensive restaurants. That being said every time we come to Outback the service and food is great. You really can tell that they go through an excellent training program. I am in the rewards program and I think it is great. The Outback I frequent is close to my office so I can go there for lunch also. First time tonight I will be using the call ahead seating so I will see how that goes.

Frustration with account log in. I can’t save order jr get my points with Outback because I can’t remember my password. When I try to create a new account t it won’t let me because it says I already have an account. When I request a password reset email it always says it sees my account and an email will be sent. Never receive it. I have done this multiple times. And before you say it, yes, I check my junk folder. Nothing. Vicki Thompson
