Can’t save an epic on current version of app on iPhone or iPad

If I select or update an epic on a task, then leave the screen, it does not retain the value and reverts back to whatever it was before. It works fine on desktop but has never worked on my phone in the 6 months I’ve been using it. I have an old iPad mini 2 and it works fine there but the device is so old that it won’t let me update to the current version of Jira. I just upgraded to an iPad Pro with the latest version and it has the same problem my iPhone 11 does. Please fix this!!! It’s a huge problem for me that I can only update epics from desktop because I need to make updates from wherever I am. I am a Business Analyst III, so testing software is a huge part of my job and I’ve tried different things to get it to work but can’t find a workaround except to use a PC to make the change. I’m fairly certain this is a bug and I’m really surprised it’s gone unnoticed for this long. Please fix this!!!

Great

It’s great for community of software devs to have task in order to complete projects, only thing is they shouldn’t delete previous projects you have saved data in a month. There should be a saved backup folder of deleted projects that weren’t respond to because you put in so much work and forget about the project it shouldn’t be permanently deleted, because as a software dev there’s multiple projects you have to handle and handle back and forth.

Terrible offline data handling and crash recovery

I’m become accustomed to how Jira by Atlassian—despite Atlassian being a multi-billion dollar (and technical) company—can have such terrible UX and stability at launch, but I’m honestly frustrated by the lack of BASIC mobile app features:

- NO AUTO-SAVE: Comments and any text fields (like Descriptions, etc) should AUTO-SAVE in case your device goes offline or in case Jira crashes in the middle of drafting for no apparent reason while online with great Internet and an iPhone 13 Pro. Why doesn’t Jira auto-save and recover the text input like most apps do these days?

- BASIC FORMATTING LIKE BULLETS DOES NOT WORK RELIABLY ON MOBILE: Try adding a bullet. Great! Now, hit “Return” to create a new bullet below and keep the list going. Bad! The text you type appears indented but there’s no bullet in the UI. Hopefully, it’s just a mobile UI error and the bullet is properly formatted on the web and doesn’t create confusion with teammates, right? Wrong. OK — maybe it was a fluke and I’ll redo this a few times and try typing after I add a bullet? Lol, sometimes Jira’s cursor just navigates to the next line for no apparent reason. Want to delete a bullet and resume typing in a previous bullet? Good luck.

____

It’s almost 2022. How is Jira so inferior to other text edit, let alone collaboration, tools?

Once Linear integrates QA Test Suites, it’s game over for Jira.

The Most Unproductive Productivity App

How can a company whose cornerstone is productivity software have made the most bug-riddled, unproductive, user hostile app?

I use Jira/Confluence regularly, and am a big fan on desktop. Lately, I’ve been on the road more, and downloaded these Jira/Conf so I could view tickets I was tagged in on mobile.

However, both apps turned out to be hot garbage.

JiraCloud crashes/freezes nearly the second you open it. Even if you do get it to stay open for more than a few seconds, none of the search features work, so good luck taking care of that “one quick thing” you were hoping to do.

I’m extremely disappointed. This suite of software is a cornerstone for my team and I, and it’s borderline embarrassing to not be able to tackle that “one quick thing” for your team because “JiraCloud wasn’t working”.

The only reason I don’t uninstall is because, even though it doesn’t work well, every now and then I’ll be able to get a sneak peak at a comment left on a ticket, even though I can’t respond to it in JiraCloud . At this point, it’s more like a warning of “hey, you’ll have to respond to this when you’re back in the office”, rather than a tool that just lets me do it right now.

Classic Atlassian Product

Lack of features: Moving issues, which is essential for triaging, seeing and adjusting the Gantt with Jira Plans or Roadmaps, etc...

Also, there are all sorts of bugs and annoyances as well. The text editor is buggy and ends up messing with the content. Some fields seems to not be available on mobile as well. Since there are lacking features sometimes need to fallback to the web page which is really bad on mobile, and sometimes after authenticating sends back to JiraCloud ...]

There’s lots of potential for JiraCloud now that it runs on macOS as well. I would be more than happy to abandon the crap of web apps in favor of a native experience.

It’s getting better, but lacks depth

Look, this iOS app is about 1000% better than the web app from an everyday usability perspective. The web app is slow, buggy, fiddly, and frustrating. JiraCloud is fast and responsive, and has been improving steadily.

I would say that the iPad experience really needs help. The new text formatting options are welcome but cumbersome on an iPad. Look at Apple Notes for some clues on how to do this right. Use a popover! Why does it not return to the keyboard after I make a formatting selection?

One big recent improvement is making the Share action a native share sheet! Way to go! Now, just make the text formatting use native text components.

Finally, the recent update to swimlanes to make them actually lanes is very very welcome. Before, it was impossible to track between lanes, making the feature all but unusable.

Slowly but surely, Jira Cloud’s accumulation of bizarre choices, which characterize Atlassian’s products, are being tackled and refined.

Nice and handy

This is a great companion app to the website to be able to pull up and comment / update issues without having to bring my laptop.

Adding an Apple Watch extension to receive notifications for comments is a neat touch.

Only reason I gave it 4 Stars is lack of support for dashboards. It would be nice to have this open on my screen to avoid it disappearing between the dozens of tabs I have open. If this is something in the works I have no problems updating to 5 Stars.

Very, very limited

More limited than a mobile app should be, honestly. This is really difficult to get anything done with. Dashboards are a mess on JiraCloud - half of my gadgets don’t work, and they’re in the category of ones that are supposed to work on the mobile app (which is another huge miss - not supporting them after this long? Really?). Filters are basically nonexistent in JiraCloud . You can’t create or edit them to find what you need. No JQL that I can find. Reassigning an issue doesn’t work. No way to get to the user management menu.

It’s just a huge mess. You’re better off using the slightly less broken mobile site.

Intuitive UI improves productivity

Being able to monitor Jira issues on my mobile device is a lifesaver. I can interact with my project team on the go. I can’t think of anything else I would add to it.

The UI is simple and very intuitive. The ability to juggle between multiple projects at the same time is simply superb. I can’t think of anything else I need right now that JiraCloud does not already offer. Keep up the good work!

Poor (or hidden) documentation

I can’t figure out how to add an issue to a sprint on the mobile app. I suspect this is supported as a “sprint” field is shown in the 4th screenshot of JiraCloud listing, but I don’t see that in my app. I clicked the “App Support” link in JiraCloud Store and searched “add issue to sprint”, returning a bunch of articles about the Web version of JIRA, with no way to filter for articles about the mobile app. I also checked for a link in JiraCloud but only found a “send feedback” link.

Decent for quick updates

The mobile version of Jira is sadly lacking in features. You can create, modify, comment and perform basic adjustments to tickets. Anything advanced such as batch updates, Kanban boards, etc are not to be found here. Which is probably the point. Many of the more advanced features tend to require more screen real estate. Decent for sure for basic tracking but some basic features would be appreciated such as cloning.

Great Software and IOS App

Atlasssian is the best solution for software development at least because it comes as a whole thing. Jira gives a wide range of tools to successfully manage developing process, simple integration to Bitbucket and even customer support system gives me a hope I will finally finish developing my soft 🙃.
IOS app works perfectly, gives notifications and keep working process on the go.

A very good app

JiraCloud keeps getting better very quickly. I really enjoy the responsiveness of the dev team. Features seem to be added every other week. While not every feature that I would like to have is here, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time (and not much at that)

I wish I could see who’s on a watchlist, but most importantly, I’d like to be able to triage tickets here (I.e. move tickets to different boards, link issues, etc)

Good overall app, using Jira on the go

JiraCloud experience feels a lot better than the website which I find very cluttered and many clicks to get to what I need.

One feature that would make JiraCloud a “must have” would be the ability to create a ticket on the backlog while you are not in front of your computer. Many times an idea come for an issue/improvement while you may not be in the office but have your phone with you. Creating a quick ticket on the go would be great.

The most useful app for work as a developer

I have installed his app as my coworkers have recommended it. I was skeptical but JiraCloud has made my life so easy. Pm creates a story I get a notification, design uploads a design url or qa provides a comment you get a notification. Yes you might think it will send you too much notifications but personally for an important task JiraCloud is a gift. Don’t change anything from JiraCloud . Love.

Certain formatting still needs work

At my company we heavily use tables in Jira. They look and work great for comments and descriptions for covering action items and other data. My issue is that these don't display at all, in either the description or the comments, so I'm often forced to the web version to see these important details.

Otherwise, JiraCloud is running great and ya'll have done great squashing bugs and giving us a decent mobile version.

Better than the website

i was relieved to see JiraCloud after using their website.

The website, which features buttons and links on the left, right, top, bottom (and in any other free space they can find) is a complex maze of land mines one must navigate to accomplish their goal.

Granted JiraCloud does not have all the functionality of the website, it offers a significantly less cluttered - and a far more pleasant view - of your world.

Great tool for developers

In any time, anywhere, you are able to see what is about your ticket. There is no bugs, no freezing app and etc which make your life harder. But only one suggestion from my side would be some future (some graph or table) which give you opportunity to see actual sprint as on browser. It could be good one! Regards for developers! Like most of Atlassian Products this falls short

I have so many things to say it is overwhelming, I’ll just hit the main points.

In no way is this useful for middle / upper management. This is just a tool that gives basics and the UI has some really bad functionality.

Example, when searching issues within JiraCloud you have to click the search field to use that basic options available on the web version. IE pick a project, status, etc.

You can’t dig deep into a task or issue. IE history on a task isn’t available.

Most fields act odd and the interaction is cumbersome.

I would have thought that by now this would be a mature app... needs a lot of work to be useful past basic issue moving and commenting.

All this coupled with the new web interface that doesn’t work well on an iPad or even my desktop for that matter is pushing us to move away from Atlassian.

Long awaited and can’t overestimate the impact

As a highly faithful Jira user I anticipated the mobile app with great enthusiasm. I have been more than excited when it was out, and I loved the experience every day I used it! It has basically enabled me to work from anywhere! I like the instant nature of all the notifications on JiraCloud , as well as it’s robust UI! Love it!

lacking basic functionality

Lowering rating to one star as I continually keep running into missing features since I originally wrote this..

Complains about needing to be able to use cookies into order to first log into JiraCloud (jumps out to a browser) Also does not provide an option other than safari.

Not able to create tickets from the “epic” view.

Not able to filter backlog by epic — if only the search just included labels, epics etc and not just the text.

Does not allow for multiple instances/windows of Jira app (like you can do with safari) This makes it hard to have two tickets up at the same time. I try using the browser and the Jira app to do that, but Jira web from the iPad is AWFUL.

When a modal pops up with a search bar, your cursor is not automatically placed in that input field.

Not able to get a link to a ticket. Makes sharing it impossible (only offers share via email)

By default it is setting newly created tickets to a different project. Even after backing out, double checking I am in the desired project, it will still assign to alternate project.

Not able to close a task ticket due to workflow requirements that are missing/unclear from the prompts “Missing info: resolution are required” also grammar.

Not able to change epic colors.

Awesome scrum/agile tool

Awesome tool to manage both scrum and agile processes for our software dev team. Features I like the most are the various charting tools I can use to track performance, time output and yield for each individual working on our projects. Additionally, Jira is tied to confluence if you subscribe to both which makes it easier to manage documents and tie those documents to specific EPICS and Stories.

Reasonable approximation of Jira Cloud on desktop

I use the mobile app constantly throughout the day. As an Agile consultant, I am constantly in Jira. However, I am also constantly on the go. Jira Mobile allows me to keep track of things as they progress, receive updates in real-time, respond to comments, manage statuses, view and update sprint boards - and much more.

I literally use JiraCloud more than all of my social media apps combined.

Work even from mobile

JiraCloud made my life so much easy. As we handle critical global agile project , we may need updates/need to provide updates from/to team members all over the world.

JiraCloud enabled me to check the updates easily in mobile anytime. I need not to open my laptop for the updates.

This made me like I am available 24/7.

By

Cannot switch repositories

I have a need to access a separate JIRA account on a separate JIRA repository, however, when I sign out, or even delete JiraCloud upon reinstallation I can only provide the credentials for the initial repository/URL I provided. There is no feature to reset this. I’ve tried JiraCloud ’s settings as well as the iOS Settings to try and find a way to completely reset JiraCloud .

Please add a way to be able to sign onto multiple repositories/URLs, this would be incredibly handy.

Love it but

You can link a service desk issue but you can not create one. This is really important when you are on the road and get a request that does not have a issue. I have to open my laptop just to create it. Yes you can create it then go to link it but you don’t get all the notes brought over

Pretty good for mobile

No real issues at all. Managing several major projects with outside teams. Everyone seemed to be able to follow messages in system great. As is always the case with mobile
apps, just less features than desktop.
