Great news app!

This was the news app I’ve been wanting! It’s straight forward and easy to use without all the clickbait and random ads littering the page. You can customize what sources you want to receive news from and make your own tags to follow stories that are more topic specific. I’m still in my free trial, but the content and inkl are good enough to make me seriously consider buying a subscription. I was a bit deterred by the subscription price per month being $10, in comparison with apps like Reuters and even Apple News, which are free for the most part. But for some new sources like The Washington Post and The Economist you need to have a subscription to their specific periodical to gain access to certain content. I can see how the $10 this app price could be worth it in that regard. One flat fee per month for access to all those periodicals except WSJ and Barron’s (which i don’t read anyway).

No ads, every article. I’ve uninstalled Apple News

I was paying for Apple News +, but even paying for it, would run into articles I couldn’t read due to paywalls. Plus they were still filled with horrible ads.

this app? No ads, a better reading experience, and I can read 100% of the articles listed in the various feeds. A much better experience, and well worth paying for if you’re interested in actually reading actual news articles.

Free Option

I downloaded inkl and my first impressions were great, finally a news site that is actually unbiased and easy to use... Theres even a good news section, all of which is incredinly informative. Everything about inkl is great, but then I got to the payment options. I've used inkl for a good 15 minutes and am blown away at the quality, I'd love to keep using it... But I simply can not afford the subscription right now. It's not possible for me. It appears there is no free version available, and for me, it doesn't matter how good inkl is. If I can not have access to inkl , I won't even try to get comfortable with it. It was a short stay, but it seems it would only last me a couple days anyways. I wish there was a free version, with ads, for me to continue using inkl because I really want to be able to. Without that option, I have no choice but to uninstall. Very unfortunate this gem is being hung up by a subscription fee....

The only ad-free news aggregator

I’d give inkl 5 stars. I pay for it, and like it for the most part. Sometimes in the course of stripping ads, it seems like photos and other content get stripped as well. Otherwise, it’s a great app and finally lets me consume news from multiple sources without paying multiple subscriptions.

There aren’t any other news aggregator apps out there without ads that I’m aware of. It would be nice if all content providers were willing to participate (e.g., NY Times, WaPo). I get why they don’t, but ... Fortunately, the Guardian is included.

Love Inkl

I love this news app. So nice to have no ads. So nice to be able to have all this news available to me 24/7 in a myriad of customizable formats. My one gripe would be that I’d love for a trusted media bias rating or (3 ratings maybe... idk) to show up right next to the publication name. And for the rating to be a link so that I can be taken from this app to read about the media company profile. Right now, I’m trying to memorize biases. But I still love love love inkl. Oh yeah, and hoping this app will show up for MacBooks too. :)

Did the trial and then subscribed

I like how their is no ads or distractions and I like the way you pay the reporters depending on what people view. I believe in your model so I decide to subscribe for a year. It’s seems pricey but I can understand the price due to lack of ads and in my book that’s worth it. Nice clean news the way it should be. I’m surprised inkl isn’t a lot more popular. I like it better than Apple news plus.

Meh

About to finish the trial of this news app. I use Apple’s News app regularly so that is my basis of comparison. this app’s strength supposedly is that their articles are curated by humans from a wide variety of reputable media sources. If this is true, then the human’s must work part-time and only on on weekends because the articles do not feel refreshed nearly as quickly as News. Also, News gives me much fresher news but constant updates through the day from sources , like this app, that I can choose including any current subscriptions. this app’s UI is also a bit clunky and I didn’t really enjoy using it as much. A lot of potential but I’ll take News over this throughout everyday of the week.

The news app for objective readers

Never thought I would write a review for a paid news app, but this app is exceptional! Well curated news from sources with a history of strong objective reporting. Just read a superior
article from Foreign Policy journal that I would have missed without inkl. inkl also helps you to dig down in a subject. The good news feature is great also. My only “complaint” is I wish there was an option to switch to black on white type

Worth the Price

I feel like I’ve installed every news app over the years but none stuck until this app. You have control over the specific sources it pulls and can reorder the sections. They have a wonderful “good news” section that does exactly as advertised, I place it as the first section seen. Simple interface stays out of the way. Highly suggest doing a trial, it’ll feel like a fair cost afterwards.

Makes Keeping Up With News So Easy!

inkl has taken out the frustration and confusion of keeping up with the news. I tried other apps and readers but found myself sifting through lots of content I didn’t want to read. With this app, everything is relevant and I love that the sources are more varied than what I would naturally read on my own. I’m glad I finally found a reader that works for me. Fantastic product!

Needs Better Filters

**Weak notification filtering will cause me turn off notifications completely.**

The resources are good, but it’s filters need a lot of tweaking. For instance, I just received notification of an article with the weekend shooting / death count so far in Chicago (35 shot / 5 dead).

I don’t live in Chicago or even close to Illinois. I don’t live in a big urban city. The most likely “connection” via cookies is that I have made posts via Facebook supporting Black Luves Matter.

Similar with mass shootings.

I have no interest in being notified of such things. However, there is no filter to stop notifications about shootings.

I know it won’t (and it shouldn’t) stop the publication and availability of such stories, but if I’m interested, I’ll search for them.

Essentially the weak notification filtering will cause me turn off notifications completely.

Great News App.

Good news reading app. Kind of like the Netflix of newspapers. I would highly recommend inkl to anyone who wants to read a wide variety of news to get a better more rounded view of the world we live in. The interface is clean and the curated content is relevant. You could also go to the source and read the entire newspaper. To the developers.. well done

Almost …

Well-planned app and very good article selection. However, the radio and podcast ads for inkl say that it provides “unblocked access” to sources. That is only partly true. You have access to the single article selected by this app from the source, not the source itself. So, you won’t be reading, e.g., The Economist; you’ll see an occasional article from that source. And, there is no way to print or download an article for offline reading. inkl is almost what they say it is.

Worth every penny

I am not usually one to write reviews, but I feel compelled to as I think this is the best news app available, yet it is buried in the store.

I have downloaded over 50 news apps in the search for the best news experience, ad free. This is it, it is sleek, simplistic and elegant.

Pure perfection, amazing work devs

Love it but has a bug

I love inkl so I’m giving it five stars but y’all have an issue with your filters. I’ve removed a news source from the analysis section and it won’t go away. I’ve tried restarting, waiting, turning it on and off... please fix!

Good content but ignores the setting to not be pestered for reviews

Although the paid service offers decent content, it still has nag pop ups prompting for reviews even if the user has disabled the iOS “in-app ratings and reviews” preference.

On top of this, the pop up doesn’t even offer the option to never be asked again. It uses the user-hostile UI anti-pattern of only allowing the user to choose between leaving a review now, or being nagged again “later.” So, here’s your review.

My morning has changed

inkl has changed my mornings. I look at inkl before any in the morning . Helps me look at news, like I need it to be, provides me information and keep me connected to the globe. First paid app I have bought for news in years and I think it’s a keeper.

Great app!

Rarely do I leave a review for an app but felt compelled to do so here. this app is everything I've been looking for in a news application, plus they actually seem to “get it” and how to appear to treat their customers well.

Very happy.

Since last update a few days ago I keep getting a notification badge with no way to get rid of it.

I have a notification badge that randomly appears without a notification and no way to clear it other then shutting off the notification or badge. Please fix. Otherwise an awesome app.

The Algorithm Antidote

Finally, news and information that feels curated by intelligent humans, or at least algorithms that do intellectual crossfit. If you’d rather experience the world outside the sphere of a lazy robot’s bubble, inkl is for you.

Breath of fresh air

I'm in the trial period right now but I think I might end up actually paying money for this application, it's so refreshing to know that the news sources are carefully researched. And no ads!
