Accidental sent messages

I have sold and bought quite a bit of stuff and that part is great but the accidental messages I send and receive are the most annoying thing about letgo. Half of my correspondence consists of “I’m sorry, that was sent by accident”. Or responding to someone else who sent an “I’m interested” by accident. Also, the pop-up windows when you save a post you like are very annoying. You have to sit and wait for the window to disappear so you can go back to looking. There’s no way to get rid of it. The window says “let the person know you’re interested” or something like that. And if every post would show the price before you click it would make searching so much easier. I have to click on every single item to find out it’s price and prices can range from Free to $1000 on the same item. Just try looking up treadmill! If someone could work out the bugs in the system this would be a very useful app! Also there’s no way to eliminate notifications. They automatically come and you have to go back and deselect the searches you’ve done otherwise you just continue getting them. So there’s always like 92 notifications that I truly don’t care about. Otherwise, easy to post and easy to sell!

I have updated my review to five stars since this problem has been fixed and there are no more accidental messages. Seems to be going pretty well. Thank you so much, whatever techies fixed this problem. Now if you could only put the price on the add, that would be cool!

Why haven’t I used this app earlier??

I think the concept of letgo is awesome. In my opinion, it comes off as a very safe app. The this app team gives you accessibility to safety tips when speaking or meeting with a potential/seller. You don’t have to put your full name or your real name, for that matter, into your bio. Of course there are always going to be weirdos and scammers on every buying/selling apps, but you should be able to weed them out the majority of the time. If you can’t when there’s clear signs (i.e. they won’t answer you back, they’re willing to pay above the asking price, the spam you, say that you can just ship the item to them, or ask you to use another app to communicate) then it’s probably not a good idea for you to be buying and selling. 😂 I understand that this app can’t pick out every single person who is using letgo with ill intentions, but they do actually do a great job at moderating accounts and the items they sell. You set your own prices, but this app can also price the average amount of the item that you’re selling for you. Personally, I think letgo is easy to navigate in a way that it is simple to go on your profile and edit item prices and descriptions and searching for a specific category of item you would like to find. I really enjoy letgo and have made multiple sales within the 5 days I’ve had it! If you’re wanting to sell that old vase that you’re tired of looking at or even a car, I highly recommend this app!! 😁

5 stars for the App! Buyers are another story.

I have sold quite a few items here after moving, but have never purchased anything. Selling is pretty difficult and can take some time because of the many messages that you get from buyers that aren’t serious. letgo is great...if only there were a way to hold prospective buyers accountable for sending “I’m interested” messages. No matter how quickly you reply “Yes, when would you like to take a look?”, many people will not even respond to that. I understand that people change their minds, but if they see the photos, the price, dimensions, location, the fact that they must pick up in a certain location and all other pertinent information that they need to make their decision, how can they change their minds within minutes of a response? I spend way too much time typing out responses letting prospective buyers know when I can meet them, exact location, etc...to hear absolutely nothing back. That’s the only frustrating thing about how this works. Holding buyers accountable by having a system like Home Away would be great! You already have the “verified by” icons. Add another icon that shows their grade as a buyer and as a seller. If the user does not respond to messages in their in box (quickly or at all), they are slowly downgraded. Their grading will show up on their profile. This will help others to decide if they want to reach out to them or not.

Pretty Good App

Of all the buy/sell apps I’ve used, this one is pretty good. The only suggestion I have to the developer/programmer is to make the “chat” section a bit more organized. Meaning, there needs to be a better way for me to find a previous conversation I had with somebody about a specific item instead of scrolling through all my conversations one by one. Maybe a search bar using key word? I also notice if I accidentally tap on a picture in a certain area as I’m scrolling, it will automatically send the seller an “I’m interested” message. Maybe adjust that button so that a pop up asks if you’re sure you want to let the seller know you’re interested? And then the user is able to tap yes or no, just in case the first tap was accidental. I’ve had that happen to me on both ends. Also, if I start a new post for selling something but made a mistake or changed my mind, could there be an easier way to cancel the post? I had no choice but to post it empty, then go to my profile and manage my sales and cancel the post from there, but not before receiving a message about it. It may just be that I’m still learning about letgo and I haven’t figured it out yet but I’ll keep playing with it and update my review if I find a better way. Besides some of the user interfacing (which don’t bother me that much) letgo and its services serve their purpose, which I like, and for that I give it four stars.

Great sale app

Great app. Easy to use. Keeps your info private and I like that it just sets up local sales so you do not have to deal with shipping and just cash. Wish you could send more pictures in a direct message with someone if they ask to see more without having to put them on the whole post, but that’s not a huge deal. Just prefer not to send through my personal email at all if possible. But like not having to use my email for the most part too. That’s wonderful. Love how the map gives an idea of where someone is without specific detail too. Overall a great tool for selling your extra stuff. Have made some extra money, and also gotten a few amazing deals for myself. So it’s a win win in my book! Will continue to use, hopefully even more often as I spring clean 😉
One more thing that would be nice is not getting notifications on every little thing you look at. Just the things you inquired on or put in your favorites. And if someone likes your product it wouldn’t automatically send you a notice coming across like they are truly interested. They really have to message you when they want to make a deal. Can take up some time. But other than those little things I’ve found it fine. And so far everyone I’ve sold too or bought from has been super pleasant and easy to deal with. No one has been rude or jerked mr around. That’s a big plus compared to others selling sites.

Like the app, but one small suggestion and one BIG problem

I’ve sold quite a bit on here in the past, and up until recently it was a 5-star app. The best feature to me is how little time it takes to enter the item’s info in for posting (I also use Craigslist, but is a bit more involved). Also it’s quick and easy to communicate with the buyer. The “small suggestion”, which is really no biggie, is, like others have said, the “Is it still available?” option that’s given to buyers is annoying; it wastes time texting back “Yes it is”, then they text their real question back, if they even write back.

The BIG problem and the reason I gave only a 3-star is that before the last update, everything about letgo worked perfect, including that I could see my listings right away after posting them. Now, days later after posting, I still can’t find, in the “feed”, what I’ve posted. I emailed for help and was told to update my app and OS, which both were. I also was told to be patient ... but as I had said in my email, it was days later after I posted, so by then I should be able to see my listings! So I didn’t really get any help 🙁. Since then, I kept trying to post, but since this still keeps happening, I haven’t posted in awhile because it’s been frustrating wondering if buyers can see my listings, since I cannot see them. Hopefully the “this app” person reading this review will offer some help — and thank you if you do, cause I really miss using your app and would like it to work!!! 😊

Best virtual yard sale app, the simplicity!

I wish I had found letgo sooner, before using other sale apps and consignment stores robbed me blind while also being a huge pain in my end. There are so many different options when it comes to selling anything online, and I have tried them all. eBay, offer up, Craigslist, Facebook yard sales and even my local classifieds. They all offer their own unique pros and cons. But if you are looking for a simple way to both sell and buy items nearby: letgo is for you. Their is no long and complicated process for creating a profile, there are far less annoying scammers, the prices tend to be lower, the time it takes to sell an item is usually much quicker, there are a lot less shady people to worry about, it’s easy to have a direct line of communication with buyer/seller, you can sell literally anything and get much more money than you would at a pawnshop or consignment etc. honestly I could go on and on with everything I enjoy about letgo. But what really sets it apart for me is the ease of creating a profile through your Facebook, and how simple making a sale post is. You snap a photo, give a title and price and a small bit of info if you want - and that’s it! It really is the one site that feels as easy as having a yard sale only a million times easier. I highly recommend letgo, and I rarely make reviews.

LetGo pros & cons

The this app app and service is awesome, I have bought a number of guitars and an amp or two using this app . While I have yet to sell any of my listings on letgo , I still enjoy using letgo to shop for items of interest .
However I find some of the users of this app are less than considerate in the way they respond or not respond at all after a chat has been established. I understand some delays in response are due to the phone and carrier being used but other times the item sells and is still listed and the seller doesn’t let you know it is no longer available. I recently had a seller offer to drive to a exit off of 96 , I assume relatively near their home , for $20 for gas for a $25 purchase, essentially doubling the cost of the item. I told them that I had misread their location in the listing but would contact them the next time I was in their town but that the amplifier wasn’t worth double the listed price.
I do get a little tired of relisting the items that haven’t been sold that I have listed. I understand that you want items to sell but I set the price that I feel is right and a good starting point for any haggling a buyer may want to do.
I am satisfied with letgo and most of the people that I have dealt with. Overall I find letgo enjoyable and I am grateful to the people responsible for this service.
Thanks

Needs a clean up

App is useful and has so much stuff in all locations I’ve been. But, it’s a very cluttered app. Kind of difficult to continue in a search without ending up in a totally new area of searching. The swiping left and right is OK but one minute you’re in a local area, the next couple swipes through you’re in a state 1,000 miles away. Also, I keep accidentally telling people I’m interested in their item but not intentionally hitting a small button that says something like “Is it still available?” Or “is the price negotiable?” Then they answer my accidental question and I have to tell them I didn’t mean to send that. I feel bad for the seller every time this happen, and it happens somewhat frequently. The home search page is set up in a collage type layout which is kind of hard to look through without feeling overwhelmed. Those are the things that bother me most. On a positive note, people tend to respond very quickly it’s easy to search for a specific item in an area.

Last thing - it would be really great if there were options on your profile to tell people if you only ship and do money transfers or if you prefer in person pick up drop off/money exchange. I’m not the most comfortable with the second option so having the ability to use Venmo or PayPal or let people know this up front would be great. But maybe, letgo is just not what I’m looking for?

Long winded but overall an OK app if it fits the type of buying/selling style you prefer.

Recommend items

letgo is OK I think it could be better first of all if an item has sold then why don’t you just take it off of letgo automatically instead of it continuing to stay in someone’s favorites list because it gives off the impression that the item is still available when in actuality it’s not. Also I don’t like how when you’re scrolling through all the items on the main page and you click on one, it takes you to that picture and that description and then when you could back out of it it automatically takes you back to the top of the list instead of putting you back at the place where you were when you decided to click the item forcing you to now scroll all the way back down to where you were so you can pick up where you left off. That should be something that’s automatic and that’s frustrating. Other than that it’s OK some sellers and buyers are hell a rude but I guessThat’s to be expected.
Oh and I don’t like that you can’t look at people‘s pictures without the obstruction of all that crap that’s written at the bottom of the screen where it says in big red oval shape’s: is it still available, is the price negotiable, yadda yadda.. Like why can’t I just click on the picture and just see the picture of the item? Like without the sellers profile picture and the price and all that like, we should be able to click on the picture and have it be separate so we could actually see the entire item.

Sellers bad attitudes

I enjoy buying things from this app but recently it has been really hard to purchase items. I don’t know what happen to all the good sellers out here. I have been insulted or blocked if I don’t respond within minutes from either asking a question about the item or if I like an item and don’t message or make an offer. It would be really nice if sellers understood that being patience is part of selling an item and insulting or blocking people is just scary and makes us buyers afraid of purchasing anything from here. Maybe you should give a short adobe to people selling that it’s ok if someone doesn’t reply as fast as they wish to. I woke and I tend to go here for items I may need during my breaks so it’s hard to respond as fast as wished and I am sure there are many people who do the same as me. I have been blocked and insulted for not responding or sometimes I change my mind and I get insulted if I don’t purchase the item which is sad to say but I am sure many others change their minds too. I don’t always buy everything I like here and sometimes I find something at a better selling price. Sellers just need to cool down a bit and I think is part of your responsibility to educate sellers to not insult or get angry at people who change their minds. Our safety is also on your hands and just a small education towards what selling is like would make this more successful for you and everyone else. So far I’ve had a sad experience buying items

Great app-needs improvement

Love letgo. It has saved me a lot of money and it’s great for those of us who don’t mind used items. However, I’ve had letgo for over a year and still do not understand how to leave a review. Apparently, you have to wait for the seller to review you before you can review them. That should be updated. Sometimes the seller doesn’t want to leave one, but that shouldn’t take the option away from the buyer. The buyers should be able to leave reviews either way... I bought a mattress from someone and she didn’t leave a review for me but I wanted to leave a good one for her. Also, I tried to buy a headboard and bed frame from a person and they gave me the run around for over two weeks. The “seller” was selling them on behalf of his ex girlfriend. He took days at a time to reply and finally he gave me his ex’s # so he wouldn’t have to deal with it anymore and I ended up getting involved in their breakup because they were both avoiding selling the items and communicating together. I had to force them communicate and it got so ridiculous I ended up just telling them never mind. I was not able to leave a review about my experience. I missed several opportunities for other bed frames that were posted and sold. I made a report on the user but it shouldn’t end there. Other buyers should be able to see what they are getting themselves into. Please update this feature! Other than that experience I love letgo.

Great success with this app

I've had letgo for well over a year and have sold many items that would not have brought as much money at a yard sale. You can also reach a more targeted audience for what you are selling, as well as looking to buy, as you can assign and browse the specific categories related to the items you are buying and selling.
There ARE some issues with people posting duplicate ads and blanketing the screen with the same item.

Also, there are con artists everywhere, and you will frequently see these cons presented as vehicles for sale at ridiculously low cost and they are EASY to spot, as when you contact the seller, their stories pretty much follow a specific pattern. ("It was my sons car and he was killed in an accident on the way to see his newborn baby and it makes me sad to see the car everyday so I'm selling it, and it's already in a shipping crate waiting for your deposit and you will receive it in 3 days.) etc. SO... letgo is neither immune, nor anymore at risk than any other app of this type. However, the DIFFERENCE with letgo is a REPORT or FLAG option so you can notify the admins, and in my experience they are very responsive and quick to remove duplicate ads and questionable accounts.
Try it out, it costs nothing and you may just like it. I am very happy with it.

Nice app but not the best choice

I give letgo two stars because of the ease of posting an add. You can upload a photo, title and add a nice description very easily. The reason for not giving the additional three stars is because of the results I get from using letgo. I have been selling on here for several months and posted over 20 items. I have had one transaction go smoothly with buyer agreeing to a very reasonable price and picking up. What typically happens is I price fairly, below market as I know people will be looking for deals, and get several inquiries and offers that are offensively low. I once had a person ask me questions about something for several days (mind you, this was a $15 item) and then ask me to meet him somewhere 35 minutes away when the ad clearly stated that the item needed to be picked up near my specified location. I also get questions frequently that are clearly answered in the description of the ad. The last thing is the amount of flaky people I have encountered. At this point if someone actually showed up after saying they were ready to purchase I would count it a miracle. I have cross posted these ads also on Facebook marketplace, some after dealing with the hassle of this app, and the result was a quick sale paid at a fair price and picked up in a reasonable location. I wish this app would add to their app some measures that encouraged more accountability to avoid the flakiness. In the meantime I will use Facebook Marketplace going forward.

Frustrating to use. Few results

It’s a terrible idea to let people post without writing a title. The titles that letgo automatically generates are way off. I understand letgo makers want posting to be as easy as possible but the problem is that then everyone posts everything in their closet and letgo is flooded with garbage. Which means you MUST search to find anything, and if there aren’t good titles and descriptions then you can’t find anything.
letgo is also frustrating for sellers. I’ll get messages in the first 24hrs after I post something, but then after that—nothing. Why? Because people are mostly scrolling through, not searching. This annoyance is what this app actually wants because they want you to spend money bumping your item up.
Problem is, many of the messages I do receive are bogus. There are preset messages you can send just by tapping a button, and again, because letgo makers make this part so easy, there is a lot of useless messaging. One of the buttons says “I’m interested!”, which people evidently tap just to indicate to *themselves* that they’re interested. Kind of like they’re bookmarking the item. People don’t mean to message, but I still have to respond, and then they respond saying they didn’t mean to message. It just wastes so much time.
I’ve had better luck on Craigs and OfferUp. The only reason I keep using letgo is that others use it. I’d prefer letgo just go away so that everyone used better platforms.
