What is the point of an app that hides it main feature. I started MovieSlate and I’m stuck in the settings... how hard is designing an interface that is intuitive enough to navigate and use the one thing you want it to do.
Don’t buy if you need the LTC output. You have to subscribe to pro feature which costs $299 per year. Are you freaking kidding? Total rip off. I need a refund and how can we get MovieSlate off of the store?
Recent update includes a reoccurring pop up message stating that it needs access to my contacts. No, no you don’t. At least not if I don’t want you to. Make it a one time pop up and allow me to change it if I want it to access contacts later.
I spent $30 on this stupid app and in return it slows down production by interfering during the EXACT time I need it: in front of the camera while trying to start the shop.
Try as I might, I have not been able to figure out how to get the TC signal to be audible so I can jam sync other devices…even though I have paid the premium. The makers maintain it’s easy but while not a Luddite, it just ain’t happening. Very disappointed in their support.
I had MovieSlate as version 7 and recently purchased a cinema camera that I wanted to use app with again only to realize it was no longer supported and I would have to re-purchase MovieSlate I already had. I was not necessarily irritated about that however when I realized that my pro licence was no transferrable from 7 and that it was a monthly subscription or an insanely expensive one time purchase that killed it for me. I get that a real timecode slate costs more than all of the features mentioned but I already purchased them before and do not feel as though I should have to purchase them again.
I had previous version and I was forced to rebuy. No noticable improvements stand out to me. I had a horrible experiance out of the gate, was not aware you have to be an Apple Music user just to use the software (doesn't inform you, just hangs on loading).
If they were to improve the software, make it work better on phones, the text is so small that my camera can barely see it, so the slate info is essentially useless.
I can’t wait for iOS 11 update For more stability. Timer starts before clap... update plz
I purchased MovieSlate to go with a Denecke TS-TCB slate. MovieSlate needs a significant overhaul to say it is compatible with that slate. Beta and cutting edge are not the same thing and at this point, if you are using this app 8 to control the screen of a Denecke TS-TCB, this is beta quality at best.
Other than that MovieSlate is alright.
Totally something worth having
MovieSlate has been a life saver on my multi-cam show. Support is amazing and so quick.
I have been using this app since 2009 and watched it grow into an indispensable production tool. The shot logs are easy to parse and send to my editor, MovieSlate is amazingly customizable, and it saves me a lot of $ since I don’t need to buy an expensive slate. The best part? The developer is incredibly responsive to feedback and suggestions. Recently I inquired about adding a tail slate option to MovieSlate , and within a week the developer had implemented the feature! In short, this is a stellar app that continues to get BETTER with each version. 5 stars.
They got MovieSlate working when it wasn’t opening up. Thank you team! 5 stars
MovieSlate is by far the best script supervision app or software out there, and trust me I'm tried them all. The script lining interface alone is worth the monthly subscription. Additionally, there are tons of setting options to adapt the program to your individual needs, and the customer service is top notch!! If you're a Script Supervisor looking for an intuitive and flexible digital option, this is MovieSlate for you.
this app is exactly what you want, even when the Script Supervisor changes the scene number at the last second, this app info is really efficient and smartly setup. I use it every day on the CBS show Scorpion.
MovieSlate is super useful for syncing up my notes to the video via slam sync. I wish MovieSlate supported split-screen on the 13” iPad Pro so that I could have another app open at the same time. This would be critical for my workflow. The other app would be the monitor of the video itself.
I’m not buying any more marker boards slates since using this. I have the iPad Air 2 in a Melamount case and it serves our purposes on film shoots. No more looking for the marker, eraser, and trying to remove old marks on a clapper. I just wish they sold a wood clapper for the iPad to slide into for the real wood clap sound (not a big deal).
this app is an indispensable tool that fits my needs for a simple and proper way to slate, log, and sync. I use it in conjunction with Atomos (Timecode Systems) Ultrasync One and Ultrasync Blue and various iPads and iPhones. Be sure to use it with their KeyClips app.
