This app has never worked with chromecast

2024-12-16

I've been using PlayStationVue for almost 2 years and it has never worked with chromecast. Connection always drops, Stream quality is inconsistent, and the latest problem is the program simply dropping off the TV when it goes to commercial. The ps vue message simply states "thanks for watching." This has gotten worse with the latest release. I don't know where to start with other problems: attempting to pick up at a point on pre-recorded content and cast it results in permanent screen hang. I can't tell you how much time I spend fiddling with my iPad trying to get a program to cast. I'm ready to go back to Fios

Update, November 15, 2017. PlayStationVue is worse than ever. Now a new problem: when I cast from the iPad to the TV, the video quality is terrible, shaky, out of focus, like rain on the windshield. If I watch the program on the iPad itself via the PlayStation view app, the quality it’s OK. It’s the integration with Chromecast that is just terrific. Definitely considering a return to Fios. Was at my buddy’s house over the weekend, and when I got a look at the fios guide and picture quality, I really missed it.

Where are all the shows?!!!!!!!!

2024-12-16

I’ve seriously thought of dumping ps vue for some time now. There’s so many issues it’s hard to know where to begin. Between the lack of tv shows and movies. As well as the constant “error tv show not playing.” Then the amount of seasons missing from one show and yet other unpopular ones get full entire seasons from jump. The ps vue is a hot mess. An for the price we pay for it. These problems should NEVER be happening! Just about everyone I know who has this subscription feels the exact same way. My advice is to listen to your customers, make them happy and your business will thrive. Don’t be content and lazy with your service just bc your getting away with screwing hardworking ppl out of their money. Greed is an awful thing to overcome in the eyes of those watching you an expecting better things from you. An honest an genuine retailer is the one who will outlast the money grubbing and greedy ones.

So frustrating!

2024-12-16

PlayStationVue crashes all the time! The only way that I can get it to work again is to turn off/on my iPad/iPhone, which takes a frustrating amount of time. Luckily, the new XS is faster—that has helped temper my frustration level. Unfortunately, the XS won’t let me minimize the screen the way that I could on my 5 and the way that I can on my iPad so that I can do other things while listening to what’s playing in PlayStationVue . Sony said it’s not them, it’s Apple. So, I can only listen to the news and do other things on my iPad now. If I use my iPhone, I cannot do anything outside of PlayStationVue or it closes.

Also, I really wish that you could download content. I recently went on vacation and wished that I could have downloaded some of my recorded shows to watch on my 11 hour plane rides. The flight’s Wi-Fi (paid access) was not good enough to stream the shows.

Stopped detecting location from mobile device

2024-12-16

My husband and I have been using PlayStationVue since we signed up for Vue about a year ago. I’ve never had any problems using Chrome Cast with PlayStationVue until a few days ago. Every time I open PlayStationVue at home to cast Vue to one of our TVs, it tells me that I am not within range of my home network. I am literally sitting 20 feet from my router and logged onto the WiFi. We’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling PlayStationVue , double checked that my phone is giving location access to PlayStationVue , and double checked that PlayStation Vue works properly on the PlayStation console. Nothing is fixing this problem. It’s very frustrating because we chose to go with PlayStation Vue since it had the casting feature so we could enjoy watching cable on all of our TVs. Very disappointed right now that PlayStationVue does not work properly.

Terrible Service

2024-12-16

I’m not one to write reviews, but I just couldn’t stand by and not let people know about the terrible service I receive with PlayStationVue.
When it works, it’s works great. The only problem is, it keeps on freezing. It’s frozen right now. Which is why I decided to finally write. PlayStationVue can’t get through a simple 30 minute show without freezing at least 3 times. Today is Sunday and as you might imagine, I’ve lost the ability to follow a football game live.
The “head shaker” part of this is, when it freezes, I’ll go to Netflix and no problem. Then I’ll immediately go back to Vue, and still frozen.
I’m trying to hold out, but if this continues, gonna be forced to cancel and try another service or go back to cable.
I really had high hopes. FAIL.

Sony, Do you know what SQA is?

2024-12-16

Running an iPad Pro, maxed specs, and I have the a very high end netgear gaming router with a 120mb connection to the internet. Sony your Apple iOS Vue app is pathetic garbage as is your VUE service. The guide is a total loss, PlayStationVue is unstable, and the streaming is unreliable with rebuffers on all local channels making them useless.

Sony now makes it mandatory on the latest app to leave location services on so they can spy on your location. This makes it impossible to use on mobile because between the streaming and the GPS running, the battery goes dead in a few minutes. Brilliant Sony, where did your engineers go to school? (Did they?)

Oh, and let’s throw some gasoline on the fire, Sony is raising the price to the same price as standard HD cable. Yet standard cable has all the same channels, gives passwords to mobile TV apps that work outside your home location, doesn’t require internet bandwidth or data plans, has more channels like MTV, and doesn’t rebuffer. Perhaps your business people also need some training?

Sony, why do I need you? Actually I don’t, as soon as the price goes up, I’m connecting back to cable.

So much potential

2024-12-16

I’m a little irritated because I trusted PlayStationVue enough to cut the cable/satellite cord, but some issues have become really frustrating. For one, not being able to get a basic channel that I’d otherwise get with a traditional antenna (Fox 5 San Diego when I live in central San Diego) is really frustrating. All I care about is football and baseball so that kinda big. I’m pretty sure it was available the first week I had it, and then something happened. We’ve also had issues with logging in, having change the password twice, and omg, having to do that verify you’re not a robot thing over and over between street signs and cars has made me crazy. It was telling us we need to end viewing on one device to watch on another because we’ve met our limit. I made sure I was logged out of all but 2 and still couldn’t log into the device I wanted to use. So yeah, I was overly excited the first week, and now I’m not sure. I have a traditional antenna on the way to help resolve some of this. On the plus side, it does stream very nice. Haven’t had interruption issues at all. Hoping we can get some of this ironed out. We’ll see...

Lots of issues

2024-12-16

Generally a fan of ps vue, but the latest version has a lot of issues related to on demand playback. First, it lost my place when I locked the screen on my iPad and when I unlocked started from the beginning. The next problem was... it wouldn’t let me fast forward to where I was before the screen lock. So... I started from the beginning and played in in a minimized video window so I could do other stuff while I was waiting to get back to where I was. As I got near my previous position (almost 40 minutes later!) I made the video full-screen again... AND IT REWOUND TO THE BEGINNING AGAIN! With no way to fast forward... AGAIN. I understand disallowing fast forward to force watching commercials (as much as I disagree with the practice) but the fact that I’m sitting through video I’ve watched three times now is kind of ridiculous. Need to get the “remember position” functionality working.

Great Service, App Could be Improved

2024-12-16

Immediate gratification, that is the primary reason I have PS Vue. I want my shows when I want them. This service does that for me. That being said the application is not always user friendly and that is especially true of the mobile app.

Somethings improvements I would like to see in the future are:

1) More universal functionality. I would like a way to control the PlayStation app via the mobile app. I’d like to be able to pick the show I want to watch on my phone and then cast it to the PlayStation app. I also get very frustrated when I’m outside of my home network and there is no viewable content (I understand the reasoning behind it, but it’s still very frustrating)
2) Interface improvements. There are many functions of PlayStationVue that are not intuitive. The guide is difficult understand, there isn’t an easy way to browse for new content, video scrubbing is frustrating (this feature has improved, but I’d like it to continue to improve)

I enjoy PS view as a service. If PlayStationVue worked more universally across devices and was easier to use, I would enjoy it even more.

Never seen a streaming video app have so much trouble streaming video

2024-12-16

The application works great on AppleTV when wired, and generally well on WiFi. However, when there is even the slightest network glitch, the video goes haywire. It starts running at 10x speed, pauses, replays segments, sometimes in loops. In short, it looses its mind when streaming under anything less than ideal network conditions.

The application, or Vue in general also has authentication issues when using Vue as the provider for Showtime. The login page on the Vue side shows that authentication was successful, but the login never goes back to Showtime. Admittedly this could just as easily be on the Showtime side, but seems to work fine with HBO Now.

Great app with some huge issues

2024-12-16

It’s disappointing that the developer does not seem to be aggressively updating the Apple TV app. If it takes $50 million to do it, the money should be spent because whoever does it will own the Living room.

1 - The biggest issue is the time out – if you pause the show, PlayStationVue bizarrely logs you out completely… So if you go to the bathroom you literally have to log back into PlayStationVue , find the show you were watching, and press resume – it’s insanity and it’s been an issue for a long time.

2 - we must be able to personalize our own home screens. I have no interest in sports or kids programming but now They take up 40 percent of my home screen. It’s such a waste of space and makes PlayStationVue just that much harder to use.

I will say I am extremely happy with the service in general and it did make it possible for me to dump DirecTV – but now that they’ve got me, they should be working 10 times harder to keep me with constant app revisions and feature development.

Small issues

2024-12-16

I came from directv now and boy oh boy this is so much better. One issue I have is sometimes when I toggle between channels the first scene will repeat itself; I’ll watch 20 seconds of content and then all of a sudden it will go back 20 seconds and I’ll have to watch again. Sometimes the content switching channels buffers but the audio continues and then the picture speeds up to catch up. These are the only two issues I’m having. I don’t like the layout left to right of the channel list and how if the screen moves if there is a show that’s long running - wish they had option to change the layout of the channel list - but that’s just being nit picky.

Channel Suggestion

2024-12-16

Hello,
I love playstation vue and I love PlayStationVue , but it would be nice to have the weather channel on there. I only suggest the weather channel because they forecast weather for the entire nation and local channels don’t always get emergency weather reports to everyone in time. Also a suggestion would be that when someone is viewing ps vue on PlayStationVue or on the playstation that emergency weather related and not weather related information for that person’s area goes across the screen. The Weather Channel is the only thing missing, in my opinion.

Cord cutting shouldn't be this hard

2024-12-16

Having tried just about all of the major streaming services in the last 4 years, I came back to PlayStation Vue bc it offered all the channels we both wanted but I still remain flummoxed as to why it seems to think I have up and moved my tv to South Carolina every time the power flickers? Moreover, it is like pulling teeth to get logged in to the website where you can fix such an issue: even the link chat support provided took me to a dead page with only links for this useless to me app, which I have downloaded again. Now, when I searched through my history to get to the actual fix my location it says I have reset my home location too many times?!?! And this is my fault how? PlayStation is the ONLY provider that seems to have this issue. All this ranting & nothing I can do to get my local channels back without agony inducing interactions with customer support.

Best tv provider!

2024-12-16

My family switched from Direct TV paying $360 a month to paying $85 for a better product. I can still watch every sport... I can still record shows. I use PlayStationVue to stream it to the tv so you don’t even need a PlayStation. I use it with my PS4 as well but it’s not needed. We stream it with Roku for my daughters! I have had it over a year waiting for it to fail and it hasn’t. It even works in bad weather what a concept so I feel safe knowing what type of weather to prepare for. Overall PS Vue is worth the switch no doubt!
