Profile picture is now looking weird

PlayStationMessages is honestly great as well as the message version of it but when I had got this I changed my profile picture to somthing I had on my phone and it was really nice but now whenever I want to change it and I select a photo it looks pixilated unless you zoom in and this never happens befor. So ever since then I haven’t changed my profile pic in fear that it will be pixelized and look weird to others saying it. Although the original picture stay perfectly fine the visual once you select one to change your profile picture come out as I explained previously

Apps are missing something

PS apps are great but there’s one thing that’s missing that would not be difficult to add to one of the many apps they have. The one reason I wanted to download PlayStationMessages was so I could share a video I recorded while playing Rocket League the night before. We need an app for sharing our Media Library! After downloading I was impressed with everything else the apps were capable of but disappointed it was missing something seemingly simple. Looking forward to this!

Can’t sign in

When I finished downloading PlayStationMessages I clicked the sign in button, however a white screen came up and disappeared. It has been doing that several times.

I went online to find a solution and it says to restart the phone. After I did that I clicked the sign in button and the white screen came up and stayed longer than expected, it had the loading circle and the X bottom. After waiting a few minutes I tapped the screen and the white screen disappeared.

When I clicked the sign in button again the white screen did the same exact thing when I downloaded it: popping up and going away. I don’t know if my phone is causing this or it’s PlayStationMessages , but right now I’m kinda frustrated.

Great, but The Existence of it is Unnecessary

While it’s great that we can easily check our messages without using our consoles, I just find it ridiculous that it’s separate from the main PSN App. Why is it separate? I don’t want to tap into a whole new app just to check my messages. Whoever thought the idea of making them separate clearly ignored what could be convenient for the user or, at the very least, knows how obnoxious it is to have basic features separate from a main platform. That’s like having a speaker with the power, mute, and bluetooth on its top to easily click on- but you can’t set the volume without a remote because its separate.

If you use a VPN on your phone, app is useless

I’ve used PlayStationMessages for years now as well as its sister app you can remove play with. Great apps. Recently purchased a VPN that makes PlayStationMessages completely useless. Gives you notifications, but you can’t check them. Can’t send messages, can’t send pictures, and can’t receive them either. Sony, PLEASE add support for VPN users. As of right now, I may as well just delete both of these. 5 stars for years of use, not current standing.

Disappointing New Updates

So I use to love the messages app for basically using it primarily over the main PlayStation for everything besides the ps store and buying new games. You use to be able to view friends online, easily send them a quick message or even see if they were in a party, how many were there and who, and or join a party or invite from there. Now when you click on someone online it immediately sends you back to the ps app and that requires switching apps and is less convenient and informative than it use to be. Now you can’t even see if someone is in a party on there anymore. Why can’t the functionality return, and why isn’t this just 1 app altogether.

Every time I boot it up, even from PS app it makes me re-log in.

I use this sparingly for this very reason, but again it fails to log me in. Why ask “continue as XYZ” if you won’t accept I am just hoping from one app into the other to message because PS is too stupid to fit it into one app. Such a waste of time, wouldn’t be so bad if it could remember I sign back in every time. Would give this 0/5 if it would let me! Save yourself some time and just use discord or anything other to message your friends. At this point it’s just getting deleted, as it takes longer to sign back in than to send my message(which it kicked me out of typing to log in). 100% will not recommend.

Unacceptable

Fix this god forsaken app. The whole purpose of it is to ease the process of sending or receiving messages without freezing your entire system to open the menu, but PlayStationMessages manages to ruin that function of “ease” by never opening up in the first place. I can count the number of times PlayStationMessages has actually worked on one hand, most of the time it will start to load the icon and then stay on that buffering portion until I close it. I have an iPhone 7 and I always update everything so I know it’s not because I’m behind on software. It blows my mind that this horrendous product exists, and even more so that it’s from such a massive company. Absolutely horrible.

It works for the most part

PlayStationMessages works. You can message your friends without being on your console and you can be as far away from it as you can be and you can message people as long as you have a source of internet. Notifications are a bit wonky and never seem to work when something important happens. When I wanna jump in a game with my friends on GTA I want to know exactly when they sent it to me. Also the touch controls are a little outdated and should be looked at. It needs work for sure but it can be fixed.

Does not ever open on first try

Every time I open PlayStationMessages after a day of not using it I will get the blue loading screen and nothing else happens. It does not matter if I wait 5 seconds or 30 seconds. Without fail, if I close out of PlayStationMessages and launch it again, it opens almost immediately. I don’t know why it takes two tries to launch PlayStationMessages but if this bug were fixed this would be a five star app all day. I have no other complaints.

Constantly Buggy

Generally speaking it’s a handy app that allows you to connect with your PSN friends whilst you’re away from your gaming system, but unfortunately what might usually be a easy-going convenient experience is fraught with major flaws. I have the iPhone 7 and since installing PlayStationMessages it has not had an update that has fixed the issue of having a never ending loading screen randomly when you open it up that can only be fixed by uninstalling PlayStationMessages and downloading it again. This has gone on for almost a year now and I must have had to delete and reinstall this thing at least 50 times. Fix it.

The connection to the server timed out

I usually like PlayStationMessages , but it also can be tempermental and sign out periodically without warning and then when I try to to sign back in, it says the connection to the server timed out. Also the ps app for the phone does the same thing now. My connection is fine and high speed as usual, my phone is also using the wifi as usual. All ps services are green, I'm playing online just fine, but the apps don't seem to work. I uninstalled and reinstalled and same result. Good thing we didn't pay for this, but I do pay for ps plus. Over priced for lack of support.

I am not a robot

I have use PlayStationMessages for a while now and it comes in handy when I'm away from home and someone messages me. Here lately thought I've try to get access to my messages and I had to relog. Alright no biggie, I just updated it, but for some reason after I hit the continue as button and input my info when I hit I'm not a robot it acts like it's buffering but then it just stops. No matter how many times I try it doesn't work. I've tried restarting my phone and even deleting and reinstalling PlayStationMessages . Does anyone else have this problem? This needs to be fixed please.

This is a great app

I love PlayStationMessages for many reasons I don’t want to go through them all. It is a bit buggy and sometimes doesn’t let me send messages on my ps4 but mostly it does what it’s supposed to do. But I have I good recommendation though I think you should make it so you can get notifications when someone goes online I know It’s on the ps4 but it will be cool if they do this.

Login issues and such

If I could rate this ap a negative five star rating i would, I've had PlayStationMessages for months now and I've been able to use it only a couple of times because of how many times it logs me out and doesn't let me log in.

For example, if i try to log in right now it would ask me to complete a picture captcha that requires me to identify objects from a picture, this goes on forever, it doesn't end, I'm not even exaggerating. Playstation is a big company with tons of resources, I've been a Playstation user since day one and it saddens me that in 2018 I can't properly use a messaging app that's built for my consoles platform.
