Dropping from 3 stars to 2 stars for my utter disgust and frustration in trying to actually get through a full game airplaying to a Roku tv. FAIL.

I love my Knicks and Rangers. MSG works decently well on my ipad or iPhone, but I really want to put it on my Roku tv. I often have the Knicks on one tv through the “cable” box and I have a 2nd tv I use to stream something else. The mirroring to Roku is shaky at best. I can stream multiple football games or Yankees games on YES… but without a dedicated this app Go app on Roku the streaming performance is spotty at best. I also have an extra tv in my family room that cannot have a box and is streaming only. Everything works great… except this app GO which doesn’t have an actual ROKU app and freezes and locks up constantly on airplay. PLEASE make a Roku app!

OK..Let's get the "good" part out the way first. When watching on my phone, on the go or even at home it works decently. However, don't try to use your phone for ANYTHING else.

I am not a cord cutter. Unfortunately I still pay a monthly bill to Cablevision.
this app Network looks terrible when broadcasting live on their regular channels. Watching Knicks or Rangers games isn't pleasant on their native resolution. That goes for most channels when watching on regular cable. I prefer to use my Roku TV and download all the channels, log in to my cable provider and stream my content.
Using AirPlay will be ideal IF it was reliable. When I'm connected, the stream looks waaaaay better than when I'm watching it on regular cable.
However, like other reviews have stated, it crashes OFTEN. I may get 10-12 minutes of action before it freezes. AirPlay is spotty at best.
Please this app, make this app GO an app we can download on Roku.

MSG is absolute GARBAGE! Do not believe the reviews. Try streaming this on the Go right before a game and you will be extremely disappointed. As soon as you go into MSG is will seize up and not load a thing; just a blank black screen! I turned off my phone and also deleted MSG and the problems continue to persist on the go. If you are on wifi, it isn’t a problem but that defeats the whole purpose of MSG ! —Will remove this review when the issue is addressed because currently it is AWFUL!

I could go on and on about the horrible UI and UX, ridiculous Airplay issues, lack of functionality, terrible treatment of advertisers and customers on this platform… but at the end of the day the only thing you really need to know is that THE iPAD APPLICATION STILL DOESN’T HAVE LANDSCAPE SUPPORT. You can watch the video in landscape, but to get to any video content you need to rotate your iPad. In a video app.

I hate every second of using MSG and it single-handedly makes me loathe this app as a company. So, great job.

and you can’t even offer a streaming app for FireTVs or other devices? crazy that these big corporate dummies still havent realized that if you make it difficult to watch something, not to mention watch something we actually pay for, we will find “other” ways to watch what we want where we want on what we want.

Awesome app but for short cannon I liked the previous rewards instead of ice packs and luggage tags.

No Apple TV app, so you have to airplay from your phone. No landscape mode. Every video defaults to subtitles ON and you have to manually turn them off every time.

Edit: Subtitles come on by default every time when connecting this AirPlay to an AppleTV.

Can hardly ever watch games to even know if MSG works. In order to stream a game it must be being broadcast in the region. I live in upstate NY. this app will broadcast the Rangers on all their stations and even old games before showing live Islanders games. Really wish they’d find a new network.

I try to watch games, it tells me to sign in, then I sign in and it tells me to sign in again, over and over… would be much easier if Dolan wasn’t a greedy weasel and would let other TV providers show knicks games.

Cut the cord use MSG to stream commercials apparently since that’s the only thing that streams clear on air play. Find myself missing big plays during most games. Very frustrating fix this!

Every time I try to sign in with TV Subscriber account (Verizon) it just takes me to my Verizon account page and doesn’t enable me to watch any content. Broken and frustrating service

Freezes a ton when air playing on a tv, and often times refuses to play live, instead playing on a 4ish minute delay. Miss a lot of action due to these issues

Completely craps out ALL the time. Plus Apple refuses to let you download on your Apple TV yet you can download d it on your iPhone. It’s absolutely the dumbest policy and makes zero sense. Get with it already Apple!!!!

App keeps asking me to sign in with my tv provider over and over again. Literally cannot watch any game. Also, MSG has NEVER worked for me.

add the ability to view menus for the iPad on landscape view. Other than that 5/5

This is the most tragic, piece of trash app I have ever encountered. No other video streaming constantly fails over and over again while streaming to your tv/chrome cast.

I was excited to get MSG and watch live Sabres game. After I downloaded MSG everything worked well until the last update. Since then I go to watch a live event or show and I get to see a beautiful crystal clear ad for 30 seconds then a black screen with a bar that on top that says loading. I wait 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes still loading? I have tried deleting and installing app again but still the same. I go to desktop site on my phone and I can view there so I know it should work with my login.

Update: This issue has been fixed after a few back and forth emails the problem was found and corrected. They were very responsive and the issue was corrected within 24 hours of my email being sent.

MSG is a major disappointment. It is advertised (heavily I will add) as a way to watch live games of teams that play on this app network. This is true for one of about every 10 games. Almost every time I open MSG I get an error message when tuning into a game: “Error: Unknown Concurrency Error”. No other feedback or options are available not hints at trouble shooting or what could be wrong. I have not been able to watch a single Rangers, Islanders or Devils game all season so far. As mentioned previously MSG is advertised heavily on the network as well as internet ads and billboards/posters around NYC. I’m thinking MSG creators or admins should focus more on getting MSG right than how many more advertisement platforms they can put this faulty product on. Any feedback from this app will be appreciated

MSG is decent as far as streaming your favorite this app network teams on the go. However, given my experience with other sports apps it could be much better. First, there is no support for chromecast. Come on, guys. It’s 2018. Second, they make you watch a commercial every time you either open or even return to a game you have been watching. This can get annoying depending on how often you like to navigate away during a game. Lastly, there is no indication as to when a replay is/will be available and for how long. They just appear and disappear seemingly on a whim. Fix these issues, and I’ll update the review accordingly.

I upgraded my DirecTVnow pkg to get this app so I could watch the sabres. I have yet to be able to watch a sabres game via DTVnow. It thinks I live downstate and gives me Isles games... BUT the MSGGo app is my savior. It was glitchy at first, but I contacted them via Twitter. They were SUPER responsive and got me an alternate login so I could watch that night’s game. A week later they’ve got it all fixed. I can airdrop it to my Apple TV. Not to my Roku TV tho :((( which is a bit of a bummer.

It is absolutely inexcusable to force-feed us an ad when signing into a game while the game is in progress. I missed a game-winning overtime goal because of this.

Seriously, we’re going to see your ads. We see them at regular commercial breaks during periods. We see them between periods. You even split-screen during breaks in-game to show us ads.

Try classing up your act a bit. Show some respect for the game and it’s fans by not pounding ads down our throats at every available opportunity, to the point that it literally interferes with watching the game.

It’s a good app. I’ve been using it for a few years now with no real complaints but it needs a few updates, badly. 1) The recent iOS software update no longer allows you to watch full screen on the iPad. That’s a quick and easy fix that needs to be attended to. 2) MSG should offer casting availability to Sony/Android/Google powered TVs. Overall positive experience with MSG but two simple updates are needed here which will go a long way.

Maybe I’m just different but im currently at work right now and want to see the Knicks play and almost didn’t download MSG because of the poor reviews .. but it is very serviceable with great service . If you’re looking to stream games on the go then download , these reviews are honestly very misleading and its a shame that it doesn’t even have 3 stars but what do you expect from a bunch of spoiled New Yorkers lol

I’ve tried MSG for over a month now. I’ve deleted it and uploaded it at least 4-5 times . Every time I try to watch a game live it tells to log in with my tv provide which is optimum.., ie signed in and it tells me again to sign in even though I’m fully log in when I go to look at the optimum app I can see my name and posted on the top right. Totally frustrating!!!

MSG’s issues feel very dated compared to better streaming apps, like ESPN, NBC, TNT, etc. I’ve been using it for the last three Knicks seasons, and the same freezing, choppiness, and freeze-then-speedup nonsense is STILL occurring. Furthermore, they play the same exact three or four ads all season long, yet THOSE never seem to have streaming issues.

MSG needs a major facelift and an increase in network bandwidth. It’s so frustrating to use, and it’s ridiculous it’s still not available on the FireStick.

As a Knick fan of 30 years I love MSG. I now have to rethink it because with the update version it doesn’t play full screen on my iPad it comes on in a small box now smh. Wish they would change it back I don’t care about the shirt cam or the new features added. I just want to be able to watch the team I love on my iPad in full screen. So if you have iPad good luck enjoying the game or maybe switch teams I’m sure the Brooklyn nets app play in full screen on iPad

Hi there! Been using MSG for quite sometime and I do like what has to offer. I know nothing about how to make this happen, but can the powers at be add a casting feature to MSG ? I’d like to be able to cast it to my TV with Chromecast/Roku etc instead of having to connect my computer to my TV.

Note: Before you tell me to simply watch it on regular this app, I’ve been using my parents cable package to sign in as I don’t have cable myself.

The streams are choppy and often would skip. Each time you decide to restart the stream, it makes you watch the exact same commercial over and over again, which can be quite annoying. The new update (version 2.0) also no longer allows MSG menus to be displayed in landscape mode. Pretty annoying and obvious oversight since many people using MSG to stream games would do so on a tablet that is displayed in landscape mode.

This is the second review I have written for MSG since 2017. I love the Devils and watch when out of the area as I travel over 250 days a year for work. I have seen the same commercials year, after year, after year... Can we please get some more sponsors? Better yet, drop the commercials all together and put up a blank screen between segments or during commercial breaks. If I have to hear that RWJ Barnabas is curing cancer one more time I will destroy my iPad. Please, don’t do that to me. Trash the commercials, give me a blank screen.

Overall definitely a handy app. I can watch the games whenever i want. Only downside is the video feed freezes constantly or lags. Very frustrating. I have spoken with someone who monitors MSG to make sure everything runs smoothly. Apparently they do not see this issue on their end. However i have showed them the issue through videos, and they seem unable to fix it.

The streaming quality of MSG is hit and miss, overall it works much better than it used to.

The ad policy however is infuriating. Forcing you to watch the same ad every time a stream starts means it forces you to miss yet another 15-30 seconds of a game every time the stream crashes, which still happens frequently. Most streaming services moved away from this long ago, likely for this reason.
