Needs work

While a terrific idea and much needed tool, the interface looks like it was written for a kindergartner, almost cartoonish. The most annoying thing is the map continues to resize after zooming on the location of the bus. Is WheresTheBus called "Where's my house and the Bus?" No, it is called "Where's the Bus?" So concentrate on the position of the bus and allow me to zoom in and stay zoomed in. The tag on the bus icon updates with the distance. That's all I need to know. The next annoying thing is the displayed distance appears to be from the bus to my house and it should be from the bus to the bus stop. Please fix these three issues and you will have a far better app.
Update: 01Sep21- Attempted to use WheresTheBus while waiting for bus. WheresTheBus opens to a splash screen and does nothing else. After 30 I closed WheresTheBus and reopened with same results. On fifth time the map appeared and showed the bus progress. 1.3 miles away the progress stopped. The screen was frozen and moments later the bus arrived. Maybe ex hurricane Ida is to blame. Or maybe it's as others described and the backend servers are deficient.

My “go to” every morning

WheresTheBus is a parents dream come true!!
Before this it was hard to know when exactly to go outside the house. Or if we’re already outside waiting and the wait is longer than usual. Here, there’s a live map showing you where your bus is. And when it’s eta is 1 minutes out…. I get my sons coat on. When it’s “approaching” … we go outside and walk down the driveway to meet the bus right as it’s pulling up. I love WheresTheBus!!

WheresTheBus

I love WheresTheBus! I am able to get a virtual as to where my kids bus is at and when to leave the house! There is a down side to this up it also Lang's so it’s not on point could be around 5 to 7 mins in between before it updates! Don’t know if it’s reception and location which I can expect because I cant get service on that back road either! Otherwise this is a great app to track you children bus!

Peace of mind

I really love WheresTheBus because it allows me to see where my child is.. when going to and from school I can see his location and know exactly when he will be dropped off at the bus stop or when he has been picked up - it helps take the worry out of kids being at the bus stop as well as allows me to know how much time I have before I need to be there if it’s raining and perhaps need to pick him up

Wow impressed !!!

I love WheresTheBus, We would be standing outside 30+ mins because the bus was running late. Now I can see about where they are and when to bring my child outside of the house. We live on the backside of my building so I wasn’t able to hear when they arrived. My child is special needs, so he’s amongst very few kids riding his bus. Thank you for the convenience

It’s a pretty good app

WheresTheBus is good I use it almost everyday to see we’re my bus is at however I feel like they could do some things to it to make it better. When your looking at your bus it shows u were it’s at but it’s not very accurate I know that it’s not supposed to be super accurate but sometimes it shows that my bus is still around the corner but it’s actually at my stop, otherwise WheresTheBus is good.

Easy and helpful

WheresTheBus is great, I'm very thankful for it. My son started middle school and doesn't have to leave the house until 8:40 am. I'm already at work by that time. He has WheresTheBus on his phone to keep track when the bus is close by so he doesn't have to wait long at the bus stop. WheresTheBus also messages you each time your child logs in and off the bus.

An Amazing App!!!!

WheresTheBus is truly amazing! It takes a lot of the worry out of my kids taking the bus. It is so convenient to be able to see where the bus is along the route with estimated arrival times. I absolutely love the feature that alerts you when your child has boarded the bus and when they have gotten off. I highly recommend WheresTheBus!!!

Easy and convenient way to track my son’s bus

WheresTheBus makes it so much more convenient to pick my son up from the bus. It is comforting to get the notification that he has checked into the bus after school. I also like that it shows exactly how far away the bus is from the bus stop so there’s no more waiting extra time at the stop for the bus to show up.

This app is amazing

WheresTheBus lets me know when my bus is going to be at my bus stop and when it’s going to be at my school also it lets me know when the bus is going to be late I love WheresTheBus now I don’t have to worry about when the bus is going to be at my bus stop. Thank you for making WheresTheBus to let me know when the bus is going to be here . Amazing app 😀

Excellent Resource

Given the ever-changing traffic patterns and unexpected circumstances, WheresTheBus is infinitely valuable in tracks msg changes and keeping updated. It allows me to monitor when to be at the bus stop to send and retrieve my children to maximize my time and theirs so there is less time for my children to be waiting for the bus or me to pick them up.

where’s the bus

I used where’s the bus during middle school and it was great all the complaints i’ve seen on here didn’t affect me, sadly there is a lack of districts so there aren’t very many that can use WheresTheBus. i’m now unable to use it because i changed districts. but if it has your district i would totally recommend WheresTheBus :)

Useful app

Very useful app on keeping track of my daughter's bus. I've been using it for years and it keeps improving each year. It doesn't always update the ETA but it doesn't matter as long as I can see where her bus is on the map which is always very accurate. One of the few apps I use that gives me peace of mind!

Helpful and Informative

We downloaded WheresTheBus at the suggestion of our daughters school, which is providing this service. It’s been very helpful on the picking up and dropping off ends of things-the approximate location of the bus helps us know when we had better get moving! Excellent app!

By

Reliability

The information on WheresTheBus seems to be accurate about 75 % of the time. It is inaccurate when it switches from one bus number to another and then changes from minutes prior location to current location. It is helpful when it is in the current mode (when that is accurate).

So Far So good!

I love that I know the kids make it to their buses and get on safely! I don’t know how that works for everybody else but since my kids are the only ones at their stop it gives me peace of mind! It’s also great that I don’t need to separate logins for each of my children one Middle School and one high school.

Good but could better

This is great considering we had nothing before but having a sub bus notification so they pass with out stopping we could have been there to flag down and also some sort of an alarm or 5-10 minute warning would be good for when your driver starts arriving early for no reason 2 days in a row and you miss the bus.

WheresTheBus

Great accuracy, works around errors well or things that can change bus time arrival like traffic etc, n also gives big alerts on roads that would have reasons for delay. Will be great to use in the winter so your not stuck standing freezing waiting on the bus you can simply walk out the house as WheresTheBus say bus is approaching! Awesome!

Love this app

Love WheresTheBus because it helps me to find out where my daughters bus is located at and if there’s any problems. That helps me a lot. It also lets me know if there was any bus changes due to Bus breaking down things like that. This is a good app to get. When it comes to kids safety WheresTheBus is a great thing to get.

Wonderful App!

This is an excellent resource to have! The only challenges I have experienced are when our normal bus number is not transporting on a given day and we are not informed, thus we can’t track that bus. Thankfully that hasn’t happened too much.

Love this app- can’t live without it

Love WheresTheBus. It doesn’t get any better than knowing where your child is or when the bus will arrive in the morning.

it’s as good as district data

people here are doing a lot of complaining about what WheresTheBus is lacking or doing wrong. all the complaints i’ve read are legitimate, just focused on the wrong party as the culprit.

WheresTheBus is only as good/accurate as the data about your kids provided by your school district. most of the time the source is your child’s school, then handed to the transportation department, then handed to the “where’s the bus” people.

i can tell you we have had a lot of things wrong with the data on our family, almost always from the source, the front office of the school. districts may vary on that policy, but that’s how ours is. no matter, the fix was simple.

multiple homes, buses, and bus stops DO work! if the data is wrong call transportation. they see this all the time and can usually sort out the mess they were handed in a day or two.

disclaimer: a family member works for transportation in our district.

horrible and dated

our district has just started using this service and has provided good instructions to us on how to get started with it as well as how to use WheresTheBus . i can speak for many people, including myself, when i say that there was a “data validation issue” when trying to log into WheresTheBus . and yes, i followed all of the instructions correctly. you can tell this is a pretty old system due to the looks of it, and this means glitchy, dated and likely broken software as well. it’s time for WheresTheBus to receive a BIG update.

and yes, there is indeed a this app website as well. which is completely identical to WheresTheBus . looks the exact same, works the exact same way, and glitches the exact same way. so, that needs a big fix, too.

all in all, i highly recommend not getting WheresTheBus or using the website. you probably will encounter the same problems that many others, including myself, have had. as a counter argument, i will say that i am confident that if this app had better software, it could be extremely helpful for students and parents. so, this app, please fix your services.

Glitchy, but it works

Yes, WheresTheBus has some bugs that could be worked out, but it’s been so helpful this year. WheresTheBus doesn’t always update, so I’ve found that having the website pulled up in my phone browser helps. I think the miles are calculated as the crow flies, and not actual miles on the road. The ETA isn’t always correct, but I can usually figure out an ETA by looking at the last message (it’s either “current” or “# of minutes ago”), the listed ETA, and the location of the bus on the map. So if the ETA is 20 mins, the last current message was 5 mins ago, and the bus is within 3 miles, then we have about 15 minutes. The time is usually correct.

Bottom line: Knowing roughly where the bus is, is better than not knowing at all. We try to be at the stop at the 15 min ETA mark and we’ve never missed the bus.

Needs to implement substitute busses

WheresTheBus has been a morning saver for me. Being able to know when to go outside without having to stand out there for 15 or 20 min makes the morning so much easier, but today it seemed to not be working so I went outside about one minute before the bus is scheduled to arrive and sure enough it was pulling up. My little one had to run to the bus to see that it was a different bus number. The bus driver ended up saying she had to get a different bus today for whatever reason and I am sure that will happen often throughout the school year. Thank God I did not depend on WheresTheBus today. For WheresTheBus to work well it need to be able to implement substitute bus numbers.
