MileagePlusX is absolutely worthless. I spend more time tracking my purchases and videoing my screen just to prove that I actually purchased items through MileagePlusX than the actual value of points received. The points are either not posted or the eligible purchase amount is incorrect. I was monitoring the points received almost daily. I have to upload multiple receipts and evidence to prove the purchases because MileagePlusX does not track or tracks incorrectly. Even with evidence the United customer support will try to claim that they have no record that purchases were made using MileagePlusX . MileagePlusX is exhausting. I’ve lost trust in the integrity of MileagePlusX and I’m removing it.

Absolute scam. Won’t let me log in. Using same credentials as the website and keeps getting an error. Can’t book anything through the website either. Took my points and credit card info. Charged my card but never sent a confirmation and no booking showing in my account. Tried 3 different phone numbers. Out of 3 was only able to talk to a person once who couldn’t help me and gave me a bad number where I couldn’t actually speak to anyone. Now I’m going to have to rebook my travel and file fraud on my card which I’ll be canceling since you can’t actually use any points you accrue.
Home Depot refused to accept

I used MileagePlusX to buy a gift card to pay for my purchase at Home Depot in LA…after shopping for two hours and scanning over 50 items I got my total and entered it in MileagePlusX . The cashier then says they do not accept gift cards from 3rd party apps and refused to accept my payment. Management was called and confirmed. I then tried to use it in self checkout and was stopped by management who accused me of committing fraud for trying to use the certificate I paid almost 500$ for. When I explained this and the fact I took my business elsewhere to support at UnitedX they refused to refund the charge and told me I can try using it online…DELETING MileagePlusX

I am not able to buy any gift cards, all transactions declined. I contacted the support over the course of two months now, they totally stopped replying. I have been told I need to be in US, I were all the times transaction declined, and location services were on all the times. On top, in order to not to be declined again, you need to wait at least 2 weeks and try again, I am told, which did not work either. To me it looks like they are total scam, whey are marketing the united bonuses and when you want to use them, no way. I am filing a complaint, as it looks like they are making fun of us
I tried to purchase a $25 gift card to Starbucks. I received an email saying there was an error and I would be refunded within 5 days. I’ve purchased many cards and had never seen that email. So I tried again with the same result. I had 2 x $25 charges pending. 3 days later I see the first charge post. So I call United mileage plus program and and am given a different number. So I call that number and they are closed on the weekend. I understand things happen but there doesn’t seem to be any recourse. So now I will have to spend more time try to fix their error with them or with my bank reversing the charges. It’s frustrating because everything is through MileagePlusX and immediate except when they screw up, then I have to call someone during business hours. I will try to call them on Monday.

Used to be a big fan of MileagePlusX though I seldom remembered to use it. I did try to use it recently and my credit card was charged twice but the transaction failed both times so the retailer didn’t get paid and I had to use a different form of payment. I expected the pending charges ($220 twice) would vanish from my Amex but, no, they became regular charges to my account. I then received emails from United promising refunds in about five business days, no idea why it takes that long, maybe they need the cash. That was twelve days ago and no refunds as yet.
Makes no sense. Why charge me if you know the transaction has failed? Why take so long to process a refund that should be automatic? Have no confidence in MileagePlusX going forward. Be warned!!

For the last year and a half MileagePlusX worked just fine. The last 2 months I have had issues. I get an error saying that my transactions are being declined when purchasing gift cards and to contact a service agent through a specific e-mail. I e-mailed this e-mail with my issue. I got 2 responses to fix the problem. The problem was not fixed by doing what they told me to do. I notified the it didn’t work, but no responses. I have since lost out on at least 1000 miles since this issue arose. I know it’s not my credit or debit cards declining the transactions because my banks have said so and I get e-mails that I’m getting miles on dining partners when I use my cards at dining partners. This has left a really bad taste in my mouth with United.

Previously app users were able to search by location, or even search by an expanded Map View for merchants and particularly MileagePlus Dining program restaurants outside of one’s immediate/home territory. This was a very useful integral feature to expand one’s search beyond your immediate area, which of course is necessary for selecting MileagePlus Dining restaurants when planning ahead for travel, while on road trips or when visiting locations outside of your immediate area. In recent updates to the Mileage Plus-X app, this functionality has been lost. I even tried turning “location” off on my device, in hopes that it would show ALL options on an expanded map view or show merchants/restaurants in the current expanding map view as I moved it to areas I’m interested in seeing options in, as it previous did… but it no longer does so. It now defaults to the same “Nearby” options based on current location, which when home, users are generally already familiar with. I don’t need an app to help “discover” businesses I’m already familiar with. What WAS formerly helpful was finding options in areas I’m LESS familiar with. Due to the LOSS of this feature, my use of MileagePlus Dining restaurants has significantly declined.

I have been continually getting a “Transaction declined” error when I try to purchase gift cards. I emailed the technical support last week and had not heard back, so I called several different support numbers and kept getting bounced around. Finally, I got in touch with someone who couldn’t help me, but told me the department that handles app issues is a month behind in responding to requests. I asked if I could at least take advantage of the bonus mileage deals on MileagePlusX after they expire since I don’t have access to the program. Nope, they can’t do that either. Don’t bother with MileagePlusX, or United Mileage Plus.
MileagePlusX is convenient to purchase gift cards until something goes wrong. When there is an error or fraud in your account MileagePlusX directs you to an email address that is incredibly un responsive. I’ve used MileagePlusX regularly and made thousands of dollars in purchases over the last few years. When you use something this much issues can be expected, but the fact it can take a week to receive a return correspondence from an agent in this day in age for a fraud issue, is ridiculous. The only reason continue to use MileagePlusX is because it’s the only one like it.

I liked MileagePlusX for earning miles, but be extremely careful when selecting payment method. I wanted to pay for a $29 restaurant bill using my United credit card. Didn’t have my reading glasses and accidentally clicked on the option to pay with United miles. 4,675 miles. When I realized my mistake I paid the bill with a different credit card assuming it would be simple to get a refund. No sympathy from United. NO REFUNDS. They are likely happy to see a customer burn their points at a such a low value. I am out significantly more points than I ever earned with MileagePlusX and I have a non-refundable gift card that I am unlikely to use. Not sure if I will ever use MileagePlusX again.

I made a purchase of $55 with MileagePlusX generating a gift card while standing in the check out line. I chose my explorer credit card for payment but then I was directed to another screen and unknowingly to me it made the purchase with miles instead. And worst of all it cost over 8100 miles!!! I am hoping this can be reversed. The first screen did not finish the transaction with my credit card that I chose in the first place. I was in a hurry and I never even realized what happened till an email was sent to me with the summary, too easy to get confused or MileagePlusX is just not functioning.

I tried shopping online for MilePlay. The first shop I purchased from didn’t have my order in their system. They refunded the charge I had to pay out of pocket without the additionally promised miles that would go toward MilePlay. I tried again with Shop Online at another shop. This time I received the item I purchased, but it’s been over 2 weeks (the max amount of time United said it would take to post miles) and still no miles accredited to my account.
It’s also very unclear which phone number I should use to contact customer service for these ShopOnline transaction and MilePlay issues.
E-gift cards doesn’t update the balance once part of it is used, which is misleading if I ever want to use up the rest of my e-gift card balance.
UnitedDine was actually okay. Nothing went wrong there.
Overall, seems like their system still needs to do a lot of work on customer service/support. Not worth the hassle to participate until they figure out how to collaborate with their affiliates and partners.

I was paying for a gift card and selected a credit card as my payment option. Upon purchasing the gift card and going through the verification I setup with 2-factor authentication, the system charged me miles instead of on my credit card as I previously selected. Due to the error, I reached out to customer service and “due to their no refund policy” nothing could be done. It’s extremely disappointing that nothing can be done when the the error lies solely on their end and instead of getting any type of human reaction or getting someone to look into the issue, they just can’t/won’t do anything about it.

Using MileagePlusX to purchase gift cards and check what merchants offer mileages, but do not use MileagePlusX to connect to the merchants’ app directly for purchasing. When you use mileage plus x app to connect to another app for purchasing, most likely you will not get the mileages. This had happened to me too many times. When I emailed the unitedplus shopping, they told me I had to contact united. Then united kicked the ball right back to unitedplus shopping… well, bad enough to not get tracked properly, now neither united or unitedplus shopping know what they re doing. So I basically lost the bonus/extra mileages that I was supposed to get.

I love UA and use my chase card all the time to shop MP shopping, so thought I’d try the MP X app....it’s seems easy and works fine, but my miles never seem to get to me! I’ve done everything correct as I’m familiar with the process, but the miles are either “pending” for months.....or I switched colors on a product, and it was denied, then I got the points, then denied again! I’ve emailed and filled out the proper forms and haven’t seen my miles or received any help or information on what’s happening.
I wished it worked as well as MP shopping!

While I am very satisfied with MileagePlusX itself as long as there are no problems, contacting customer service has become a real pain. In the past (years ago) it worked well but now it takes months to receive a response and then they don’t even seem to have read my complain properly. I am still waiting for a refund for a faulty gift card from spafinder365. It might be that you are under staffed or your staff isn’t trained well. I recommend to do something about it. I’ve been using MileagePlusX since I joined the program. I love the fact that it allows me to boost my mileage balance by purchasing e-gift cards which are also very secure to shop. However, this year I have experienced the inconvenience of having the transaction declined for no apparent reason. It happens this summer and this weekend. I tried again today to find the same issue. I’ve deleted and reinstalled MileagePlusX hoping that would fix the problem. I have also powered off my phone, but the same issue keeps coming up. I have contacted United by using the email they provided. I hope to be able to obtain an answer soon. Needless to say, this issue is frustrating as it keeps happening.

Been using MileagePlusX for years but now suddenly it keeps giving me an error saying transaction is declined. My credit card has no issues so it has to be MileagePlusX . Checked reviews here and seems the same issue is happening to many others since last year!! Wow. Been contacting customer service through email but like other reviewers said, they first give you the copy and paste answer that MileagePlusX can’t be used outside the US. I tell them I’m using it in the US and they say they’ll look into the issue but it’s been days. If the same issue is happening to others then they must know what the cause is? Why aren’t they preventing this issue from happening? Very frustrating.

So I’ve had MileagePlusX since the conception as I was one of the first group united invited to try. The format was simple and easy. Now that they have added extras and combined programs, it’s a little too complicated. Also keeps signing me out every 2 hours and gets annoying to try to relogin. Would recommend it as you still earn extra United Mileage miles but make purchases that u need. I’ve already made over 40k extra miles this year alone, 55k last year so well worth it

I like MileagePlusX purely for the fact that I can earn miles for everyday purchases. The customer service on the other hand is pretty bad. I had an issue once where I purchased 1 gift card and they charged me for 2, it took them a week to respond to my initial email, then they tried to tell me I actually purchased 2 gift cards for the same amount. Like why would I do that? 🤦🏻♀️ Then most recently my app had a major glitch when I attempted to purchase a gift card it kept telling me that MileagePlusX was not able to complete my purchase and my transaction was declined. For every establishment, not just 1. I emailed them as the error message directed, it took them 4 days to respond to my initial email, but they didn’t respond with anything useful, just a snip of my request being escalated but at the bottom it said to attach any useful evidence. So I responded with a screen shot of the error message. And still a week later no response. This customer service is not a good look for United.

Today I tried to purchase a gift card and kept being told that it was denied, the credit card company told me that they denied nothing and that that no charges were made today. It also tells me to revalidate my mileage plus account. Customer service told me that they will have to turn it over to the development team and I will have to wait 7-10 business days. That’s one way to slow down my ability to earn more miles.

I love the miles plus program from United! I wish I would have discovered this a few years ago when I first started flying because it makes getting a *free* flight so much easier to achieve! In the last two weeks alone I probably have gotten close to 2,000 free miles just by shopping & dining at places that I was already going to! Instead of my buying miles to put towards a future flight I’m earning them with my everyday purchases & that to me is so worthwhile! Thank you United for creating this program to help me fund my travel plans!

I love MileagePlusX. It is so easy to use. The saddest is sometimes There are so many participating stores I forget to use it.
The other problem is my mobile carrier so sometimes I’m in line a little longer then I would like. I dislike taking customer’s time behind me but the extra mileage makes it worth it. It isn’t an app issue either. Like I said I really like MileagePlusX it helps add miles so easily.
I have enjoyed using mileage plus and first look to it for many purchases. I have to say the system does have periods of time in which is does not work, will mistakenly give me the message I have exceeded my “Daily Spend limit” or “transaction failed”. Upon speaking with Mileage plus “Agents” I have gotten multiple variations on what the “maximum daily spend limit” is. I will continue to use given the benefits it provides for reduced travel costs in using the miles.

I was using MPX for a while with no issues. As of late, I have had more declined transactions than ever. Maybe 1 in 40 will go through. I sent in support requests and am continually told it will not work outside of the United States. I am in New Jersey!
I followed up again and was told that I need to delete all of my cards, delete MileagePlusX , re-add my cards on United’s site, and then reinstall MileagePlusX . Guess what! That didn’t work either.
So while earning miles is a great idea and perk, they don’t want my money because they have rejected most of my transactions.

I’ve run into so many issues trying to make purchases through MileagePlusX because it does not give you the option anywhere to change or update your billing address once you add it. You also can’t change or remove credit cards in your acc, it only allows you to add new ones but even then you can’t update your address from a previous one. Such a headache and I have missed out on trying to purchase various things because of the lack of accessibility on MileagePlusX.

I enjoy MileagePlusX and look forward to seeing what stores have additional miles daily. A suggestion for improvement would be for consumers to suggest stores.
I still haven’t been able to access United dining. Not sure if there is something wrong with the link to their site but I cannot get in. This has affected my opportunity for bonus miles. Get this fixed and Id be happy to give you 5 stars.

I’ve earned over 50,000 miles on MileagePlusX since downloading in 2022! I live in a city so I ALWAYS buy my uber/lyft/Starbucks/DoorDash, etc.. gift cards here to earn miles and then load them to those apps to pay. For bigger purchases I make shopping online i.e. ordering contacts & fashion sprees, I start through the shopping tile on MileagePlusX and earn miles on my final basket total. My 3 month supply of contacts earned me 1,400 miles last month, easy win!! I also find MileagePlusX a great way to learn about promotions going on with the airline programs like cruises sweepstakes and earning miles on Mother’s Day Flowers through FTD. The dining program shows me nearby restaurants where I can earn miles on enrolled cards and even sends me push notifications the moment I pay my bill, still at the table, pretty cool. If you fly United and you value their miles, MileagePlusX really just makes sense.
In the past, I’ve used MileagePlusX extensively to earn miles. For the past few weeks, I’ve been unable to purchase any gift cards. First, it kept making me validate the purchase endlessly. Then I reinstalled MileagePlusX twice and now the purchases just decline for no reason. Support is not easy to come by and after I finally did reach them, they told me that it wouldn’t work if I’m out of the country. I haven’t left the country. After that bang up job of troubleshooting, I haven’t heard back from them for several days now. I also noticed another reviewer having the same issue, so I thought I’d voice my frustration.

MileagePlusX worked fine until every transaction I try to make now gets declined. Just as everyone else says, I try contacting them just to have no response for days. Certainly very frustrating that they have had this issue for a while now and nobody seems to care to look into it or fix the problem.
