Don't pay $4.99 for StashBot, you'll just kick yourself for wasting money. I bought StashBot maybe 6-12 mo. ago and was immediately disappointed. It didn't take a week before I had deleted it. It has a nice aesthetic but you can find yardage estimation calculators for free both in StashBot Store and online. There is absolutely nothing in StashBot that justifies its price tag. Maybe if they added a few more useful features it might be worth paying $2, but as is, save your money.

The idea to calculate the number of yards (and thus skeins) needed to do a project is great. The problem is StashBot is too limiting: • You can only select 3-8 stitches/inch • There’s no feature to enter the yarn weight (ex: 8oz yarn is significantly thicker than 2 oz yarn) • The calculation doesn’t determine number of skeins, only yardage. If there was a way to enter how many yards are on the skein of choice, the feature would be complete. • The calculation of yardage is incorrect. When I finally got a comparative pattern, StashBot was significantly higher: ———————— Manufacturer: ———————— 60”x70” Blanket — 13 skeins — 8oz weight yarn — 1 stitch/inch — 28 yards per skein — 364 total yards ———————— this app ———————— 60”x72” Blanket — Feature not available — Feature not available — Feature too limited (used 3 stitches/inch) — Feature not available — 2060 total yards (divided by 3 to determine 1 = 687 yards) So Greta idea, but poorly executed. And too not have a free trial to figure out StashBot didn’t do what I needed was just money flushed.

StashBot does what it says. It does have a easy and intuitive interface. But for the price of $4.99 I hope there will be an update or maybe an extra in the future. Even if they added an accurate measuring tape as a feature.

There are several other apps out there that tell you exactly the yarn requirements you will need. Some are free. So for something that cost on the higher end for an app I look forward to improvements to make StashBot truly special.

I think StashBot is amazing and works very smoothly, but I so badly wish it had more categories/options! I find myself making a lot of knit items for summer, too, and would love to see shirts, tanks, etc as an option as well!

Thank you so much for the this app app. I work at a yarn store and I can estimate yardage but StashBot gives me the confidence to sell the correct amount for the intended project. With this app I can show the customer what is needed and how it can vary from style, size, and gauge. The absolute best part is the ability to scroll and watch the visuals change instantly. I will definitely encourage all iOS users who knit to get StashBot and use it every time you shop for yarn for their project in a shop or in their stash. Home run, Hannah and hubby!!!

This has been a valuable tool when lured by yarn in the LYS when i don’t have a pattern in mind.

StashBot is going to be so great when I want to purchase yarn and not sure on what project I will want to knit. It will definitely help me figure out the yardage I will need for projects.

I bought this yesterday and used it today. This is such a great, useful tool! I could have used this so so long ago while I was acquiring my now unbelievably large and barely useable stash. Thankfully, I have StashBot now, and I suspect I'll use the heck out of it. Thank you, Hannah and Abe!

This so-easy-to-use app is useful in the yarn store, to help you buy the right quantity of yarn. And, it is also useful to help you find out what sort of item you could make from yarn quantities in your stash. Clear dials and great clicky sounds make this useful app fun, too! This is well worth the price.

I was looking for an app that could replace the “how much do I need” cards that were never with me - StashBot is perfect! So simple and easy to use and the numbers have been pretty close to spot on as long as I am truthful about my gauge. Best $5 I have spent on an app in a long time!

this app is absolutely indispensible when shopping for yarn. I refer to it constantly when I find a special yarn or great deal and have a general idea what I’d like to make, but no specific pattern. After all, then you have the flexibility to find the right pattern AFTER you swatch!

I never had an emotional reaction to a calculator before, but recently my 34 grandchildren and I have been bickering over the amount of baby camel yarn that I store. This morning when we came in for breakfast the little bitey one showed me StashBot and asked me to how much yarn would it take to make a sweater for the cat. It brought a tear to my eye! Works great on iPhone 6 PLUS, and it supports metric, yay!

Generally—especially if you’re a beginner—you either buy too much or not enough. If you like to design, StashBot takes the guesswork out of figuring how much yarn you need for your project. I make my swatch, look up the article along with the size, and bingo! Money saved! PLEASE get StashBot!

As a knitter who buys yarn without a specific pattern in mind StashBot allows me to know how much yarn at a specific gauge I will need to complete the project. It saves buying too much yarn and having yarn left over that can’t be returned and also saves on playing yarn chicken. Highly recommended. And it works on a phone so it’s always available.

StashBot is easy to use. When I don’t have a pattern in mind but I want to buy enough yarn for a future project, I always turn to StashBot for an estimate of how much yarn to buy. I can quickly see how far a potential purchase will go and decide if I want to make a large or small project. This is helpful when eyeballing some more expensive skeins.

I love StashBot! It's so useful for when I come across some yarn & want a rough idea of how much to purchase for different project types (I'll round up to the next full ball & add some extra for yarn-heavy stitches like cabling). StashBot has greatly simplified my yarn planning. It's much easier & quicker to use in an LYS than trying to navigate Ravelry's extensive yarn/pattern database before making a purchase. And, the intuitive, uncluttered, and pretty interface make it a pleasure to use.

II usually knit my sweaters and socks without a pattern with the help of the book, “Knitting 101” for general size and measurent info. My sweaters are usually raglans or circular yoke so once you understand the formula with these types of sweaters (and that goes for socks, too) I find a pattern is not necessary unless the pattern I am knitting has a color work chart I want to use. I use StashBot as a jumping off point when I need to know how much yarn I will need. Very helpful indeed. Many thanks, this app, for developing StashBot! ❤️🧶❤️
