Weak quality app

This is an update review: July 29, 2019
FrontierTV. Is much improved, however, it still has plenty of issues. Use to be able to swipe from a channel to the next. Not anymore. It kicks me out of the program. Better at loading speed, but still slower than it should be, The basic app. Is it too bad, it just needs some time going through it. It seems to be neglected on the part of Frontier. It may be a non-issue for me soon. Thinking about getting another carrier. Looking for a much less expensive package with better service. Even Frontier service has been going downhill. Too hard to get issues ironed out. Have two landlines, wireless and TV package. Recently dropped all extras as they were costing way too much.

This is my first review: (I think it’s important to see progression of concern by Frontier about 5heir product).
Very slow to load. It does not show all of the "paid for" content. Use to be much better when Verizon had control over FrontierTV in my area. Still waiting for the movie to show up on the iPad screen....still waiting.....still waiting....and still waiting....waiting....wait....wa..wwwwwwwwwwww. Snore, snore, snore. Are you proud of this product? I use to wait about 5 seconds before a selected program began. Now it's five or more minutes and seems to be getting worst.

Not as user friendly as Comcast/Xfinity app

I just moved to Florida from Illinois and switched from Comcast Xfinity to Frontier. FrontierTV, unlike the Comcast/Xfinity app I had in Illinois, crashes just about every time you scroll down to get to the channel you want. And the streaming quality isn’t that great as it will pause from time to time. I wish Comcast/Xfinity was more popular in Florida so that it would be more available here. Their app was far more superior, quicker, and much easier to use. And their internet service just randomly shuts down from time to time. But the problem is that the two most popular cable/internet companies right now in Florida are Frontier and Spectrum (which I also heard has below average internet quality). And my neighborhood in Tampa is only contracted with those two. If not for this, I would have rejoined Comcast/Xfinity in a heartbeat. Florida natives unfortunately don’t know what a true high quality internet provider is. I wish Comcast/Xfinity would take over here in Florida. I would tell anyone who asks to go with Comcast/Xfinity. They have a far more superior internet and app service.

App is completely useless outside of the home.

When it was Verizon I could watch 90% of the channels away from home. Now I can no longer do that. The same channels that were playable away from home with the Verizon Fios app are not playable with the this app app. How can it be licensing issues if those same channels were playable when it was Verizon. I have read through the reviews here and most of them complain about this same issue and the developers don’t even care to respond to any of the reviewers. It is obviously a known issue and they just don't care, are incompetent or even worse the company won’t provide the tools or resources to fix the issue. Its sad to see such a great product go to waste with such a large company. I guess we shouldn't be surprised, the smoke and mirrors 1:15 reverse stick split failed and the price per share is already back down to what it was before the gimmick was pulled. All it would take now is for the NASDAQ to unlist Frontier and it will officially be a penny stock...smh.

frustrating

Very frustrating app. I've only been TRYING to use it for a couple of days, but so far, if I try to use any kind of navigation... like the forward or rewind buttons, or the timeline scroll bar at the top, it just locks up. After shuttingalways crashin... just shuts down any t Ike you try to do anyth. I wanted to blame it on my old phone and OLD iPad but both are new now and it’s NOT ANY BTTER. it (FrontierTV ) down and going through the startup/selection again, it "resumes" playback well before the spot where it froze, so I have to watch the whole thing over AGAIN. (I can't navigate forward to where I was cut off or it will just freeze again.)

It's also frustrating that I have to watch it on the portable devices small screen. I have an HDMI adaptor so I can view things on a larger screen, which works with pretty much everything but FrontierTV.

June update: Still TRYING to use this P.O.S., but STILL encountering the SAME problems. I KEEP getting bugged to rate it, so here I am again. Unfortunately "one star" is as low as it goes.

On another front, my wireless router no longer puts out enough power to cover my house. I used to be able to log in to the router and adjust the output power but Frontier apparently "upgraded" the firmware, so I no longer have that option. (And I no longer have usable internet in or around most of the house.)

Thank goodness

This review is yea for FrontierTV in one light and frustration with Frontier on the other hand. Had bad storms this past week that had us with electricity going off and on several times with all the lightening. Must have blown some equipment because we have tried every fix. Had to go without internet, land line phones and cable TV for 4 days since that was the soonest anyone can come out. Thanks to ATT we can access FrontierTV on our iPad and iPhone so we can still see the Dr. Who marathon during breaks from packing. In the process of buying a house and not being able to use WiFi has had challenging moments. This is our 2nd interruption of service for more than 3 days this year!

This is app is junk

FrontierTV needs to much work and so many features are either missing or don’t work as well as they should. Hard to believe they can’t even do full screen video on the iPad. App Doesn’t work right when you add a mesh WiFi router to your network, and the frontier router is not strong enough to get to the whole house. Basically this is not well thought out at all as an app. And the company doesn’t care they just keep updating it without improving it. On iPhone or iPad there’s a white line on the screen when watching full screen video, every other video app tells that white line to fade away, not this one, you have to look at it the whole time. They won’t even see this review, as a company they could not care less. Typical tv company.

Updated to semi garbage

I generally don’t like leaving reviews but I had to on this one. I’ve had Frontier since they bought out Verizon FiOS in my area. Disappointed for the last few years. I found FrontierTV and actually got excited again to want to use Frontier. Nope actually worse, for starters I can’t even get FrontierTV to load. Just stuck on loading screen after multiple downloads and deletions. Welp back to your normal programming.

Frontier has got to do better, especially when it’s the only game in town. How that happens I have no idea, but whatever contract they have needs to expire to let in some good competition to force them to either fix their crap or go out of business.

Update.... loading error finally done and logged in but still getting them while trying to watch tv

Frontier App is not reliable

When they took over for Verizon and FrontierTV didn’t work at all I gave them time and accepted it would take a bit to improve. At every service call since, I’ve expressed concern it doesn’t work, isn’t reliable and at times won’t open. For years I’ve been told they’re working on it. I pay a lot for poor service and an app that blocks a lot if you try to use it away from your house. Loading is slow on every device. You can’t access what you record most of the time on FrontierTV . This is not FrontierTV of a successful media company who understands customers watch more on devices than TV these days. This is FrontierTV of a small company with little vision and outgrew themselves.

Streaming TV frontier

I very much enjoy FrontierTV and use it often. I watch news and stream movies anywhere. My only complaint is it sometimes does not recognize my network carrier and WiFi. So I need to either Pair my devices and if this doesn’t work I delete FrontierTV and re-upload it and re-register am definitely it locates my carrier and network. I have tried trouble-shooting this with Frontier and they can not figure out the issue. It is somewhat inconvenient but have learned to work around the issue.

Tasks for Frontier

Pls re-code FrontierTV to: play audio in background when app is not on top (tunein Radio does that), then let apple shortcut to pause & fast forward also control playback like music, resume what I was watching when open app a few seconds after I use it (which it does not) & hopefully resume last even if days later & if that episode cant be played at least resume on that channel number. The LAST button works if you press WATCH NOW then select any show then press LAST- but it goes to black screen if that episode is over & you need to add additional LAST to the screen that says “FILTER....?”

Cheap app

Considering the expense of cable, you would think they would have a better product. It always glitches, you can’t scrub forward or backwards or you will get an error message. You can’t screencast on any smart tv. Does not have an app to download on Apple TV. No updates on FrontierTV . Spectrum has a much superior cable and app product. Spectrum, you can download FrontierTV on to Smart tv/Apple TV and it doesn’t glitch when you are scrubbing through videos. You can also screencast or mirror your cable. If it wasn’t for the fios cable, I’d be gone. this app should be ashamed of the product they deliver for such an expensive price. I’d give it zero stars if they had that option.

The app doesn’t work

Frontiers app still doesn’t work. I have done everything they ask me to. We have had this service for a year and the frontier app has never worked properly. If this is something you want in a provider don’t pick them. There is no error message, nothing will load. You can see the guide but no programs will play. Yes, I have unloaded and reloaded FrontierTV . Yes, I have rebooted my iPad. Yes, I have cleared my cookies. FrontierTV has never worked the year that I have had it. The couple of time I did get a program to play it would stop and the message would say retry. I haven’t been able to get any to play at all in over a month. Your app is a waste of time.

FrontierTV App

FrontierTV only works when I’m at home. I was in Vegas last October, and could not look at any of my saved programs. It just continues to time out, and never work. I’ve had FrontierTV for months now, and I just cannot seem to get it to work.

I called Frontier and spoke to someone in their technical support department. That person had no experience with FrontierTV , have never use FrontierTV , and in fact, was not that the mayor with the fact that there was a TV app. After limited troubleshooting, supposedly, I was given a trouble ticket, however no one ever called me back, and FrontierTV still continues not to work. At times, it is just a waste of energy.

Inferior could be better

I switched from Comcast because it was too expensive but I feel like frontier can learn from them. FrontierTV doesn’t work if you are not connected to the frontier network but it also is spotty even when you are. I find that you can’t watch the entire show with something from their network crashing. I think it’s ridiculous you can’t watch anything if you are away from home. It is difficult to maneuver and find shows to add on. The remote is also difficult to use. It is the way their search process is. They need to figure out ho2 to make everyth8ng more user friendly,

Constent issues

Seems the streaming service just stops working for hours or days at a time without warning. Possibly when they are doing updates but who knows because they do not tell you. Since last update you cannot return to the dashboard or the watch now screen, after watching a channel, using the back arrow or menu. Screen just freezes and FrontierTV will eventually close. Last time I submitted a trouble ticket on-line, in December, 2018 it wasn’t until February, 2019 before someone contacted me. Extremely frustrating.

I’m not a huge fan of this app

FrontierTV needs a lot of work. It’s annoying from when you open it. It shows a totally random picture from a random tv show.

It does have the ability to record shows from FrontierTV , which is great. But the search function doesn’t work very well. Sometimes it pulls up suggestions, and then it can’t find them when you hit enter. Also, it’s hard to figure out if you’re setting a recording for hd or sd.

Also, is there an ability to watch recorded shows or live tv out of the home? I can’t even get FrontierTV to open, unless I’m on my home WiFi!

At least one channel I want to watch is labeled as something completely different on FrontierTV ! It should be called NBC Sports NW, but it’s called Florida something. It took me forever to figure that one out.

I used to have Comcast, and I thought their app needed work, but this one needs a lot more. With just some tweaks, it’ll be so much better!

If I Have To Be At Home To Use Then What's The Point

The whole point of having a streaming app I would think it's to allow you the freedom of not having to sit at home and stare at your television. As is typical with this app they fail to think beyond the box and can't seem to get past the mundane. FrontierTV does not work away from your home WiFi. Soooo....why would I need it otherwise? Idiotic. Also, even while at home, it will not run behind the scenes if you click out to check email or other applications. Unlike other streaming apps like iTunes, Pandora and SiriusXM, this app requires you to sit captive and stare at the screen on your phone as if it's the screen on your TV.

Watch now tv channels

FrontierTV is great when you’re connected to your own Frontier WiFi. All channels you can watch on app but soon as you are out of WiFi range than you can watch only few channels. I don’t understand why watching tv channels on app if you’re home and have tv. The biggest thing would be to watch tv channels on your phone away from home where you don’t have access to tv. Anyway I called Frontier CS. Help with this issue but they told me they have glitches with app and trying to fix it. I can’t wait for my contacts is over so I can change different tv provider.

Only can use app if I’m at my home

Well, this would benefit customer more if FrontierTV allowed you to watch my TV when I’m away from home... I watch my TV’s at home when I’m home. I like to see local news and the things that are going on in my town when I’m away from home.... let me get the “Best” of the service that I’m paying good hard earned money for then I would think it’s the best thing since sliced bread!

A clear step back from Verizon quality

My wife has been recovering from spinal fusion surgery and brain surgery to remove a tumor. She has to sleep sitting up. I like to spend as much time as possible in the same room. Verizon makes this really hard. I pop my earbuds in and try to watch tv on FrontierTV so I don’t disturb her while she’s sleeping in a recliner. No more than 50% of the time does it work and allow me to watch a full version hour program without losing 10 or 15 minutes of it when I have to reload it constantly. Seriously, you have communications in your name. Make it work.

Step Your Game Up

Ive had all the various Cable companies the last several years and their apps as well. Frontier is far behind the other in form and function. What they need 4 apps for, their respective competitors do all in one. And despite having one of the premier packages, Frontier doesn’t allow you to just watch anything on the go.

Spectrum had the exact same Guide at home or away in the Mobile app - no difference. Anything on your guide was eligible for viewing on your mobile device. Frontier selects a handful of programs for you to watch - no Guide at all, but rather a Browse function instead. Sorry frontier, but step your game up.

Works only sporadically

I used to have Brighthouse and their app worked everywhere with no problems. I used to watch the news at work on my computer throughout the day. FrontierTV barely works in my own home, disconnects constantly and I can’t use it anywhere outside of my house. I used to get every channel that I paid for, but this app is very limited. Pretty useless overall.

Not happy looking to change

I don’t like the set up any more seams like I’m living in the past with nothing but reruns and also old shows from my child hood. I love the old shows but I don’t want to be limited to watching this only a
Also the constant removal of channels. Yet the monthly bill never reduces the package I started paying for has no resemblance today yet the monthly bill NEVER CHANGES
Yet if I want to see movies I have to pay extra for gnoses priming channels it’s unreal that loyal customers which help the bottom line. Are treated like we DONT MATTER
and when watching a show the constant drop of the video and having to restart the box and get back to movie or show.
And for loyal customers that have been with you. We don’t even get an upgrade to a newer box with more recording time unless we pay for it

NOT HAPPY AT ALL LOOKING FOR A CHANGE ESPECIALLY WHEN WE ARE ON A FIXED INCOME
