Not Usable After 1.9

I purchased this as a replacement for iReconcile (best finance app ever!) a few months ago. It was pretty good and I was getting used to the interface until version 1.9. I have an iPhone SE and MoneyPro was running great. Now it takes several minutes to open and 90% of the time it crashes while trying to open. It also doesn't open all of my accounts most of the time and I have to close and restart and wait and hope it opens all of my accounts. The support guy I was emailing with finally apologized for my inconvenience and closed the ticket, while assuring me they will continue to work on the issue. I think I have been more than patient enough. Surely I am not the only person having this issue. I am looking for a replacement for this and will not use their software or recommend it to anyone. I know it is a phone app (so I have minimal expectations anyways) but as an IT guy I also know that communication and support are the foundation of recurring customers... And sales. Lost a customer.

Banks are not set up for import. Customer service is a joke.

Do not purchase Money Pro Gold product with the expectation that you will be able to import account information or that they will be adding additional banks in a timely manner, if ever. To my dismay top financial institutions in the USA are not supported such as DISCOVER, CITI CARDS, BARCLAY CARD. On their product community forum, purchasers around the world are being asked to submit their requested bank, which will then be “voted on” by other users to determine if it will be added to their system. DISCOVER was requested four months ago and still hasn’t been added. Buyer beware. I’m glad I Purchased this with my American Express card so I can have the charges canceled for failure to provide service as advertised and paid for. This company is a total joke. Vote???!!! And we might consider it????!!! After I paid????!! When I contacted customer support, this is was the reply:

No, we do not have any estimate, unfortunately. We gather the information to help us make a decision when we add a new or change our current provider. If your bank is voted for, we will definitely consider that.

Could be great, but fails

Ultimately, this software disappoints rather than delights. I’ve used it for almost a year now, and under its beguiling interface lurks half-baked software with almost well-thought out ideas. Transactions lack payees, so if your interested in how much you spend at, say, Walmart over all categories you’re out of luck. This fades to insignificance compared to its budget module. There’s a lot to like about the budget screen, but because every transaction’s category appears in the budget, the screen quickly becomes a mess. A bigger disappoint is the recurrence options: I can’t schedule a paycheck for twice a month. So if I say every two weeks, my paycheck actuals very quickly get out of alignment with paycheck scheduled. When I first entered the paycheck amount, I made a mistake and forgot a decimal point. Short of deleting the category and setting it up again, there is no way to fix this mistake. This could be great software; it’s decidedly mediocre at best.

Not what I thought

I guess I should have paid better attention to the other reviews. I’m coming from desktop Quicken and was looking for something similar that I can use on my iPad (the Quicken app is not great). Based on the description, this sounded like just what I was looking for. Unfortunately, after I downloaded it, I realized I would need to upgrade to Gold so I could synch my accounts. I did that and paid for the subscription. Only after that did I realize that it doesn’t work how I thought it did. You can only reconcile in an account that is manually entered, so not in one that is synched with the bank. You also can’t add entries to an account that’s synched. I was hoping for a “hybrid” app that would allow me to enter transactions and they would be matched with ones being synched from my account, and I could reconcile each month. MoneyPro was not the one!

Really Wanted This To Work, but…….

MoneyPro has everything I want; calendar for scheduled transactions, connection to my bank so it will automatically update all of my account registers, fairly easy to navigate, etc. The only problem is that 2 days into this MoneyPro is way to buggy for me. I spent about 4 hours getting everything set up and it seemed to work yesterday. But right away I noticed a couple of duplicate transactions. The account balances matched my online bank balances so I figured it was just a fluke and decided to ignore it. This morning I noticed more duplicate transactions and it appears that some of the transactions that I put expense categories on yesterday changed overnight. But the last straw was this morning when MoneyPro quit connecting to my bank. Unfortunately that is going to be the end for me. I had high hopes that MoneyPro could replace the version of Quicken that I have used for years, but it doesn’t look like that is going to be the case. If I am having this much trouble not even 24 hours into this MoneyPro obviously isn’t for me. I’m just glad I found this before the free trial ended. I gave MoneyPro 2 stars just because I think the design is great, but the reality for me is that Money Pro is no where near reliable enough for me to invest any more of my time or money into it.

Don’t subscribe to their Pro service until they fix this issue

Overall I really like how Money Pro’s user interface, and I purchased both the iOS and the Desktop version (a total of 4 devices). However, I have been experiencing issues after issues once I began subscribing their Pro service. First of all, I noticed that one of my devices occasionally will not see my Pro subscription (it keeps popping up the screen asking me to either restore or purchase the subscription). This goes on and off for a while, and I couldn’t figure out why this is happening. This happened again recently on my iPhone. Out of curiosity, I tried clicking on purchase this subscription button (as the “restore purchase” doesn’t work), I found out the hard way that I double paid the subscription.

I emailed their support, and the support rep asked me to pull the diagnostic data for them to view. However, I am unsure if the instructions are incorrect or if the UI has changed, but I couldn’t even locate the view where I can pull the diagnostic data.

At this stage, I am unsure if this is what I’ll continue to use. I’m currently waiting to hear back from their support.

Doesn’t work all the time

The concept and design overall is nice, but there are a few issues that make me hesitant whether I should start using it or not..
1. We should be able to easily add new transactions. The “+” only shows up in the right upper corner in “Today” tab. In my opinion, it should be in the middle of the bottom bar.. and also, the number pad is tiny, it is hard to input the balance.
2. After 5 minutes of testing, there are over 4 crashes already in the budget view. Not sure how it will perform when there are more transactions and budgets stored.
3. Default currency is useless. Even when I changed the default currency in the settings, the summary bar still show the USD equivalent amount. Not everyone wants to see their summary in USD. What’s the use of setting default currency if the summary is shown in USD anyway?
4. When setting budget, it’s fixed to be a monthly budget. I was able to select the end date to “Never”, but it doesn’t save even I clicked save. When I go back to the budget settings after saving, it still shows the end date as this month instead of “Never”..
5. While we are able to see the budget vs actual, there are no reports for this comparison.. I was hoping there are more report analysis for this.

It’s a great app but has some bugs they need to fix

I love MoneyPro and use it for everything. However recently I upgraded to the plus so it can be synced between my iPhone and iPad using the iCloud. There was a problem when it transferred all the files over and I believe it might have deleted some. so after I have been keeping a good eye on it because you can’t have it be missing transactions(that is screwing you up with keeping track of your money and defeats the purpose of having MoneyPro ). I have been having a problem with it syncing from iPhone to iPad and I’m afraid if something happens (like me loosing my phone) all my stuff is gonna be gone and won’t go to the iPad. The only reason I’m paying for this is so if something happens I still have all records of my purchases. I tell so many people about MoneyPro but I do say there is some bugs and you might want to wait until they fix them. Also if you sign out and sign back in it says that your account doesn’t exist (email address). I love MoneyPro but they definitely need to fix it. It needs to be more reliable.

Just moved from iReconcile

I had been using iReconcile for years, but the recent iOS 11 upgrade killed MoneyPro as it has not been updated in four years. That led me to try probably a dozen or more apps yesterday in order to give me the options that I wanted below. It seems that multiple apps give me part of iReconcile that I enjoyed but not the whole package like it had. I tried your Checkbook out and I enjoyed the way that it shows the category with payee’s name, the date, the amount of the transaction, AND the balance after the transaction. That ending balance is what I’m searching for. Also, Checkbook will show you in that same list your upcoming bills and what your balance will be after those bills are paid. IReconcile had these features and it was a huge help. I like Money Pro better than Checkbook, but Checkbook definitely has a couple of the features that I really want and need. Really, the only reason I don’t care for Checkbook is it’s user interface.

Needs additional features

After using other money/budget app and then found Money pro. It has most of the features I was looking for. I purchased the pro version for both my iMac and my iPad. However it lacks The ability to create a planned future reoccurring budget item by day of week not just by date. We are now collecting Social security and are paid on the second and fourth Wednesday’s each month. I contacted the developer and the only reply was that that option was not available. Secondly, there needs to be a way edit planned events from a list of items such as from the report list and not just finding the date it was planned.
I held off posting a review to see if the suggestion/request for these features might be added to an update. However the only updates seem to be about placing additional digits after the decimal point. MoneyPro would be a five star if these features were included.

Great, but needs some improvements

After looking at MANY tracking apps, I finally settled on Money Pro for $5 (to bypass Lite restrictions). It has a very modern interface, which also means some aspects are only intuitive after “being discovered”. When the interface is learned, it is very pleasing to use.

It also incorporates budgets, without being over-zealous. I used to only track expenses, now I need plan expenses and adjust spending behavior..

While this is the BEST personal-oriented money manager I have been able to find (with HomeBudget Sync also deserving mention), it is not perfect or quite feature-complete.

I hope some of the issues below can be addressed.

(-1 star), because
- It is missing some useful charts and burn-downs. For example, it’s not easy to see current expense per budget relative to the amount of time in the budget cycle.
- Can’t list all recurring payments without finding them in the calendar?!?
- No way to “budget savings” ie. record positive progress to a saving goals.
- Would like over-budget item coloring ring to indicate “how much over” (should not count true discretionary entries)
- No truly “discretionary” budget type. $0-budget item still a budget..
- Would like to see indicator of recurring autopay in transaction listing..
- Crashes occasionally when editing budgets (edit still saved) and does not appear to correctly “end edit” when switching operations.
- For recurring payments it would be nice to specify date without a time.

Recent updates destroyed my data

I have the money Pro installed on my Mac iPad and iPhone, I noticed that my iPhone and iPad were not up to date with my Mac, after checking the settings I noticed that on both my iPhone and iPad iCloud sync was turned off so I turned them on thinking they would update, not so instead it pushed what was on my iPhone everywhere else and upon further investigation I come to find that the data it pushed was incorrect and somehow corrupted, for example on one of my accounts I had a balance of no more than $200 but now it’s showing that I have a balance of +$650 before recent updates all my devices were in sync now I don’t even know if it is worth my time to try and repair the damage caused by recent updates, I am very disappointed.

Functionally relevant

I’ve been using Money Pro for a couple years now and thoroughly enjoy everything about it, but would absolutely suggest opening up the bank links to more institutions, as well as for Apple Card.
I feel as though Apple Card is becoming more and more relevant and a lot more users added all the time, and having the institution link would be awesome! Honestly, it’s the only thing holding me back from buying Gold right now. I use my Apple Card for everything so linking my bank account would only show my payments to Apple Card.

Exactly What I Wanted

For years, I’d been managing my financials manually with other apps that either had gone defunct when upkeep would just stop. I’m still not comfortable with allowing some app to access my accounts AND I like looking back and seeing exactly what I’m spending my money on. The fact that MoneyPro syncs with my iDevices without the need of a subscription is an added plus. I have been on this for two years now and there are still features I haven’t used…. yet.

Is it possible to archive blocks of information? If so, can I still go back and view this information to compare with others (months/years). That would be nice.

The Best Money Manager Period

Do you ever wonder where all your money is going? By the end of the month you’ve made great money but there’s still none left over? Well wonder no more, welcome to Money Pro. I’ve searched and searched for the right way to manage my wife’s and my money and after trying many other money managers, Money Pro hit the nail on the head! Money Pro makes managing your money simple yet very informative, a real eye opener. Money Pro is easy to use and breaks it all down for you. Print reports, check, view charts, check, easily input information into the Money Pro UI, check! I’ve just about tried every other money manager out there on my Mac, iPad and iPhone and this one takes the cake. It syncs between your devices through iCloud so everything is always up to date. Thank you Money Pro!

Update Issue

I’m using the iPhone X now however I’ve used the 6plus and 7plus and when you update your software it always puts me in the negative for no reason. I do like MoneyPro . But this issue causes me a headache because not I have to do a check balance and add in Ghost Funds to put the account back on the correct amount it should be. Is there an easy fix when this happens??

I tried emailing however unable to locate how to contact you. With that said if been using the pro version of MoneyPro and your time pro app for many years. I’ve been thru all the updates. I think now is the time to add more themes. These old themes have become extremely boring. A new look is a must. Please it’s my recommendation. Thanks in advance 🙏🏽

Simple yet extremely functional layout

MoneyPro is excellent. I was looking for something where I could categorize my spending and plan out recurring expenses (rent, insurance, etc.) on a calendar. I also wanted an app that could separate my spending between different credit card accounts and my checking account and be able to accurately transfer between them when paying off my credit balances. I've used Mint before but MoneyPro is much better, and it forces you to record your spending manually which I find keeps me much more aware of where I'm at in my budget. As for budget, Money Pro has a great budgeting feature. You can set up your goals for each category and watch throughout the month to see how you're meeting or exceeding your goals in a well laid out visual, which is great for me. Even though I'm an engineer I like visuals. This is much better than many of the free finance apps that basically look like a spreadsheet. There are also nice charts and whatnot to get a good visual of your overall spending history. I'm so happy I found MoneyPro! I had been looking for something this clean and functional for quite some time!

Perfect Expense Tracker

I used a popular Mac/iPhone budgeting app for years, but it increasingly got away from expense tracking. This is *exactly* the replacement I was looking for. Track expenses (and income and money transfers) by category. Add notes if you want to know who you paid and why. Set up recurring payments and reminders that bills are due. Track bank accounts and credit cards. Simple, intuitive, yet more flexible and powerful than it looks. If you take a day or two to get to know it and take the time to add in all your recurring expenses, most of the work is done. The sync function works beautifully; I use Money Pro on my iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and iMac. If you’re a gazillionaire tracking dozens of investment portfolios, maybe look elsewhere, but if you’re like me and you just want to keep track of all your bills and know what you’ve spent even if it hasn’t cleared your bank account, you’ve come to the right place.

Amazing 😉

I’ve been using MoneyPro for so long now in different devices including a Mac version. Easy three-tap transaction addition + widget 🤩, gorgeous reports, budget planners, sync, multiple wallets/accounts/assets/liabilities and every little feature of MoneyPro helps me track my money and make sure I have peace of mind about my financial status. I’ve searched many other apps but after I’d used Money Pro, I couldn’t use any others; I had already gotten used to it.
So far theres only one thing to improve - its the quick action when you 3D Touch MoneyPro icon and u can see the widget and quick actions to add recurring or planned transactions. When I press on them, they direct me to the transaction adding screen correctly with a category and an account set in the repeating transaction, but they forget to actually patch in the value of the transaction. If this is fixed, all I’ll have to do is to push the ‘Save’ button ;)
Anyways, thanks for the great work. Worth the buy 👍

Love this app but would love to see an expansion

I’ve been using money pro for years and love it. Some of my favorite features is being able to photograph receipts and to see income vs expense reports.

I’m currently working on staring my own business and no iOS app is as easy yet full featured as this for income/expense tracking. My only wish is to see a business version with inventory management attached and sales tracking.

I’d like to be able to add in the total purchase like is already available but be able to break the purchase down into each material purchased and have it immediately moved into material or equipment inventory. Then to be able to use materials to create a final product inventory.

There’s a few pc apps that come close but nothing beats being able have backup photos of receipts and have full features on a phone or iPad.

I know QuickBooks is supposed to have all these features but MoneyPro is limited forcing you to use it through a browser.
