Don’t say iPhone compatible if not iPhone compatible

The latest version of PreSonusUniversalControl says it is compatible with my iPhone. I installed it looking forward to using some limited functionality as soon as I connect it says that my device is not supported. If you’re not gonna support iPhone, don’t say you support iPhone. The previous versions did not say they supported iPhone and you had to have an iPad in order to use them. Tech support answer is don’t use an iPhone. that is the most ridiculous answer that they could give. Lazy. Unhelpful. Incompetent. Somebody should lose their job over this level of stupidity.

Please update firmware for more flexibility

Looks nice but needs work... I want to use my Studio 1810 to playback multi tracks from an iPad DAW called Multitracker. In order to use 1810 Outputs 3-8, I need to turn on Mixer Bypass which is only available in the Mac or PC version of PreSonusUniversalControl. This iPad version will only connect to the 1810 interface via WiFi (when the interface is connected via USB to a laptop running the same app. Once powered down the 1810 forgets this preference. I understand that PreSonusUniversalControl is purely a WiFi controller and not an actual DAW, but I need a way to Bypass Mixer from the iPad (to give the 1810 basic I/O functions, ie. operate as a stand-alone Class Compliant USB Interface as advertised). Thanks!

iPhone not supported.

I don’t really care about hardware when it comes to mixers. I can make anything sound great. Now, it’s all about the software and how easy it is to use. I work with a few local bands that don’t/can’t have a regular sound guy, so ease of use for them is more important than me. I can’t even begin to recommend anything from Presonus as I can’t access the mixer on my phone, and as others have said the iPad mini doesn’t work either. I can understand the phone not being compatible, it should be though, but an iPad mini? I have a feeling my review will stay at 1 star.

Good concept, terrible execution.

If you intend to use this with the Revelator io44, don’t waste your time. This is an incredibly buggy app that will just cause you frustration. Sometimes it opens missing part of the graphics, buttons randomly remain inactive, others remain stuck. I have never seen such poor coding. apparently no one bothered to properly test it. Having had some experience with this company, I will venture to guess they won’t bother to fix it for quite some time, if at all.

Screen goes black and crashes

The screen frequently will go all black and you can only close PreSonusUniversalControl . When you reopen it, it no longer finds any on-line mixers. Pressing scan does nothing. I’ve found if you power cycle the mixer, it will find it again. Mixers are at latest firmware. This behavior is completely unacceptable and I’ve switch to a backup mixer for live performances. Our iPad is a brand new iPad Pro 12.3”. Very disappointed in Presonus quality control.

Screen Size Not Supported

Switched to iPhone and PreSonusUniversalControl is totally not supported. Says screen size not supported. Any adjustments to text and zoom doesn’t work. Please fix asap, because our control booth for media is small so it’s extremely difficult to adjust in the middle of service when the gremlins start coming through.

Stupid

Very clumsy. Too many things on the page at once, and too difficult to return to the mix page. Things that are related are not grouped together. Silly images for the effects, but no way to put a useful image on each channel.
Rotary controls on a touch screen are stupid. Sliders are much more comfortable and useful. Whoever wrote PreSonusUniversalControl has never run a sound system, that’s all I can say.

App no longer supports “small screens “

PreSonusUniversalControl update literally makes my studiolive mixers with an S (I have multiple) completely useless because it no longer works on phone or iPad mini. What a horrible stupid update. I don’t own a large iPad. Now I have $2000 paperweight in my studiolive 32R. Thanks for nothing Presonus. It’s been weeks and still no fix. Horrible support. They don’t care.

iPad Mini Gen 6

My UC Surface app started with the craziness of the mixer control size not supported. I have the smallest text size nothing is zoomed. PreSonusUniversalControl is so needed to be working for my church sound as our board sliders are not working. What did y’all do to PreSonusUniversalControl , used to work perfectly. Please find/create a fix so we can use PreSonusUniversalControl again.

UC Surface 4.0 not ready for prime time

Ever since my iPad automatically updated to version 4 of PreSonusUniversalControl , I’ve had problems with stability and reliability with my personas revelator I owe 24. I was forced to update the firmware on the Revelator to continue using PreSonusUniversalControl , which was a bad idea. Version 1.27 has definite issues. I have rolled back the firmware on the hardware to version 1.21, but now I can’t figure out how to roll back to the prior version of UC surface on iOS so I can start using PreSonusUniversalControl again.

battery hog

simply put, PreSonusUniversalControl shouldn't drain my iPad pro completely before the end of a 90 minute set off the charger, walking the venue.

StudioLive 24.4.2ai

Every time I save a scene using PreSonusUniversalControl it saves it as a brand new scene at the end of the list. This bug is so annoying because the only work around is to save the scene locally to my iPad. Please fix this presonus! It’s been going on for about 2 years!

Effects don’t work on all inputs

This is a great software that I really enjoy however for some odd reason I can’t get the effects to work on all my mics! I don’t know what the issue is and I tried everything! If you can help me fix this issue I will change this to 5 stars!

Amazing workflow

I won’t update my iPad for fear of losing functionality of this Brilliant app. I still use 2 rm16ai’s with an avb at my studio. PreSonusUniversalControl has been a complete pleasure over the last 4 years. You allowed me to instantly switch to any settings I want for any scenario at the press of a button. You best believe I will keep my FireWire rig going. And there are many just like me that invested thousands into Presonus that are doing the same. Keeping their FireWire alive no matter what it takes. Do us OG’s a solid and keep the updates flowin! We still want to use our killer Presonus gear!

Updated Review:Worked OK till last update iPad 3rd Gen iOS9.3.5

Had issues with two previous updates on my iPad 3rd Gen. Latest patch cleared up all my connectivity issues- just in time for my first drum client to arrive !

Essential

I have used PreSonusUniversalControl with my RM16AI for years, and now with my 24R. I use this in my studio and I find it an essential tool as I am getting general mixes in place before I sit down at my desk. I see the bad reviews here, but it’s been a reliable tool for me.

I like my StudioLive 32 Series 111/ RML32AI

I like using the UC Surface than the Hardware, to me is one of the best mixers and the Capture2 recorder is amazing. We started using Presonus product for 2 Years now. But I Started using the RML32AI and the StudioLive 32 Series 111 in May 2017 and it gets better and better every time I use it especially the UC Surface with the DCA. Must of the time in our Church Services every Sunday I just use the DCA to do all my Mixing throughout the Service. The production is supper crystal clear clean.
How I wish I can use the RML32AI for my stage Mix and use the StudioLive 32 Series 111 for main House Mix with Cat 5 cable?
God bless Presonus StudioLive.
Thanks,
Joe Zisingha.

Quickly becoming the backbone of my toolset

Keeps getting better and better. Indispensible software for use with PreSonus RM series mixers; the flexibility and mobility of the new breed of digital mixers is amazing, and PreSonus has definitely done it right. Be aware that some features in the demo mode aren't available until it's actually connected to the hardware ...

Works great

We pretty much only use PreSonusUniversalControl to run our Studiolive 32SX. All features work perfectly and almost always have for a few years now. We don’t ever have anyone sit in front of the mixer board ever. Usually two volunteers controlling two separate mixes during weekly live events.

Cover Band

We use PreSonusUniversalControl to mix a 4 piece band thru the Studio Live 24R.
It always works great on various iPad used by the band.
The fact that you don’t need a huge mixer, snake, etc…is amazing.
