Poorly Design Infrastructure

2024-12-16

I’ve been using the remote start app for several months and have had problems 97% of the time. Features related to vehicle status generally work fine but the car start portion of the package only works intermittently. The process works by sending a cellular signal to their servers, which then handshake with the car, and start the engine. There’s a lot of thought an security here but it seldom works. Error messages ranging from “low battery” after just parking the car to “not in a cell service area” in an open lot in a major city are amongst the many many bugs. The cause are severe bugs at every stage of the chain from app, to Lexus server, to in car hardware that verifies the vehicles status and location. I’ve spent countless hours with Lexus and received waived fees but it ultimately doesn’t work. My vehicle has been checked over by the dealership and everything is tip top so this definitely a Lexus technology issue. As said by others it’s appalling that a well rated luxury vehicle would be fraught with such issues and the service incremental to the purchase of the car. What’s worse is that it’s making me like Lexus less every time it fails and when I call customer service. I’m honestly falling out of love with the badge and have been giving serious to looks to Tesla, BMW, and Mercedes. Take the reviews seriously. This is a bad product that’s probably driving away other customers.

Worst app ever. Do not buy this car

2024-12-16

Lexus uses an outside company to build and maintain LexusEn and its associated services. This requires an ongoing annual fee. LexusEn allegedly can lock doors and remote start the car. However it is so poorly designed that is always reports errors every time you use it and the processing g of any request can take 2-5 minutes. It’s garbage. Useless and extremely frustrating to even attempt to use.

Also the key fob has a remote starter in addition to the phone app. This is also co trolled by the company making LexusEn so if u want to remote start ur car u have to pay the annual fee and go through a lengthy process to set up LexusEn anyway including driving around for two 15 minute sessions to let LexusEn contact cell towers and satellites. If u forget ur password LexusEn has a button to reset but it never works. So u have to call tech support. A different 800 number of course and they will take 40 minutes to respond with a link to reset the password.

For a 50k$ car LexusEn is total garbage and charging customers to use a remote started that we paid for when we purchased be car should be a class action lawsuit.

Terrible - May not buy another Lexus

2024-12-16

I don’t write reviews, but I just got a notice in the mail that my subscription to this awful app is about to expire. I’m supposed to pay $8/month for the privilege of remotely starting my car. Even cheap cars today have remote start without a monthly fee. And I’m supposed to do it through an app that routinely makes me re-login with my ID and password, even though I have fingerprint access enabled. To cap it off, I also have the Apple Watch app, but I have to login on my phone first every time I want to use the watch app. Why on earth do I need a watch app if I have to open LexusEn on my phone to use it?
Lexus, if my daily experience with a key feature of my car is this frustrating, then I’m going to choose a different car next time. Please do something to keep me and others in the Lexus family. This should be a simple fix. And for heaven’s sake, don’t charge a monthly fee for remote start. That’s just greedy.

Not worth it

2024-12-16

I downloaded LexusEn this morning after getting my new car yesterday. Not only was my battery drained down to 15% by the time I left work (it usually sits at about 65-75% by the time I leave work), the one time I did try to use it, it took twice as long to lock my car as if I had rummaged around for my purse for me key and locked it the old fashioned way. I realize you can lock by touching the door handle but wanted to try out LexusEn . After unplugging my phone to run into the store and seeing the battery drop from 27% to 19% in a matter of 20 minutes, I deleted LexusEn . Even as I write this my battery on my phone is already performing better. Maybe there’s no correlation between LexusEn and my phone battery, but my phone is telling me otherwise. You can start your car from the fob and unlock/lock with ease by touching the handle. So until they develop a better app (and one that’s free), I’m out.

Terrible app

2024-12-16

I recently purchased a Lexus GS350 F sport and decided to give LexusEn a try. I am also a proud owner of a Tesla Model X which provides the phone connectivity option at no charge. Despite my initial surprise at the $16/month price of the remote app for the Lexus, I did sign up for it, however it hardly ever worked when I needed to start the car, it shuts off when you open the door, it took forever to actually connect (when it did) and it shuts off 10 minutes after starting it. Even the most basic of cars on the road today offer the remote start app at no cost and offer much better connectivity than Lexus does. As a long time fan and supporter of the Lexus brand, it goes without saying that I’m extremely disappointed with how Lexus has approached the offering of this feature; enough to make me think twice before buying another Lexus.

Luxury Vehicle- Terrible App

2024-12-16

As a long time multi-Lexus owner, I find it very disheartening that so many other makers offer functional and free app features, such as lock/unlock and start/stop engine. This is something offered for free with many other luxury vehicles and what's more upsetting is that non-luxury makers also provide this simplistic, free service for cars that are 1/2 the cost to purchase and maintain. A bare bones app that allows similar app support services is a standard Lexus should be able to maintain. When even Chevy is able to provide a superior app to customers for free, I have some serious concerns. Paying upwards of $250 per year for things offered for free with other car makers apps is utterly ridiculous and is certainly something that will influence my future as a Lexus owner. It’s sad to think that I have to move to a non-luxury vehicle to receive the “luxury” of a functional and free app!

Do NOT get this

2024-12-16

This is the most frustrating app EVER!! I’m the only one in my household who owns a Lexus and quite frankly, after more than 2 decades of consumer loyalty, thanks to their woefully inadequate technology, this is my last Lexus. Everyone in my family uses remote technology without so much as a blip. But Lexus Enform works about 3 times before you have to put in all of your account information again including VIN number and then it continues to request that you add a vehicle. After adding my vehicle 3 times, it asked again. Thus, I’m cancelling my subscription. I’m convinced that Lexus has put all of their resource dollars into providing wraps and Starbucks coffee while you wait for service which is less than par. Do not waste your money on LexusEn or, for that matter, on a Lexus. They are no longer a leader in the luxury car market and have not been for some time.

Horrible

2024-12-16

Horrible, awful, worthless. Does not work. I am so disgusted with Lexus over LexusEn and feel so lied to. I specifically wanted remote start and when I found a car I was interested in, I contacted the dealer and asked if it had remote start because I did not see it listed. I was told that it did. I flew in to buy the car and was forced to wait 4 hours for a deal that was supposed to be ready and just waiting for my signature. When I finally went to leave, I looked down at the fob they just gave me and asked where the remote start was. It wasn’t until then that the salesman said “you have a download an app”. Imagine my surprise when I get home to see that this “free” app costs a minimum of $16/mo extra just to remote start my car!! Not even mentioning if you can get the piece of crap app to even work!!! Lexus should be ashamed!

Lexus needs to take responsibility

2024-12-16

LexusEn worked very well the first year I used it, but as of a few months ago (guessing around April?) during my second year they came out with an update. It forces you to update. So I did and after that, if you ever wanted to lock your car from elsewhere, it forced you to have WiFi. It would NOT let you lock it based on your own data plan which was how it would be done before the update. So it forces you to depend on the place you are at to have its own WiFi in order to use the lock car function and others. I reported this to Lexus on numerous occasions. They tried blaming it on my iPhone 6, but before their update I had no issues. Now I have the iPhone X and it still requires me to have WiFi. They continue to say none of their Lexus employees have these issues (or have the WiFi message pop up) and tech people say there are no issues and in order for them to do something about it, more would have to complain. I’m not sure that’s true given the ratings and comments on LexusEn. Either way, it is way too much money paying to use LexusEn for Lexus to wipe their hands clean and do nothing about it. So think about that before buying into their service plans for LexusEn. Terrible customer service in this regard because of lack of pro activity to fix this issue among others that people already discussed in the reviews that are also true.

Still no good after 15 months

2024-12-16

I had the service for free for the first year and LexusEn was so poor I let the subscription lapse. The remote starter was the only option I wanted but you can’t get that as a stand-alone on a 2017 RX model. I did call customer service and was told they don’t have the ability to adjust pricing. I don’t want safety etc. so I called Lexus corporate who took responsibility and ownership of their very poorly executed app. And allowed me 6 months at no charge to try it again. The remote start is still useless. I press start from my desk at work and by the time I put my gear on to go outside and walk down three flights of stairs and across a parking lot it still hasn’t notified me if the remote start was a “success”. Very disappointed from a high end line like Lexus.

Mediocre

2024-12-16

For the most part, LexusEn has worked for me. I would say about 80% of the time it executes a given command. However, it is extremely slow. When I want to remote start my car, lets say after the gym, if I park 2 blocks away and send the start command right as I leave the gym, the car will start after I've walked one block. In my experience this is between one to two minutes, if it executes. I hate to use an outdated reference, but it moves as fast as dial-up.
Having said that, the feature itself is useful, it's just annoying that you have to plan in advance to use it.
Also on another note not related to remote operation, LexusEn suite and navigation are clunky, even being out performed in some cases by the system in my 2007 Audi. Hopefully, Lexus gets its act together in this aspect because it cheapens the car when everything is so nice but the technology lags.
One more feature that would be great should Lexus ever decide to update LexusEn would be to allow remote setting of AC temps. This would be especially useful in hot areas like the Southwest.

Outdated and Slow

2024-12-16

Never write reviews but after reading so many, I decided to participate. Overall, LexusEn is extremely slow when making commands to lock or unlock the door and start the engine! In the time it takes to send a lock signal, I could’ve already gone in my purse and found my keys to do it faster. And the engine only stays on for 10mins with auto-start but the car also shuts off once you get in?! I could be rambling since that’s a car feature and not an app feature. But overall, I only use LexusEn to see what doors I forgot to lock/windows left open.

Ive found LexusEn inconvenient and frustrating. If things could work faster I would be happier. But I still think it needs a complete overhaul.

Almost always works

2024-12-16

I do not understand the very sizable number of negative comments about LexusEn. I too dislike that you have to pay for Lexus Enform Remote just to start your car, even when using just using your key fob, but at least the money is going to pay for the Verizon cellular connection for the car. As far as functionality goes, LexusEn works 98% of the time for me. When it doesn’t, my car probably just has a terrible cellular connection, which is unfortunately common for all cell service in the area around my house. When LexusEn doesn’t work, I can just use my key fob to start my car. I’ve never had to re-register my car. I use LexusEn at least twice every weekday and a variable number of times on the weekend, and I only have to sign back in every month or so, but frankly I think that is too often. You need a very long password to get in my phone and then another pin to get in LexusEn , so I don’t see the security benefit of being logged out once a month.

TL;DR LexusEn works, I don’t get all these 1-star reviews.

Tips from a Lexus Dealership Employee

2024-12-16

- You *can* start your car from your key fob, press the lock button 3 times in a row and hold lock on the third press until it starts the engine. Model year ~2018 and older need LexusEn to be active for the keys to work! For most model year ~2019 and newer, key start works regardless of app subscription
- You will always get an error if you attempt to start the car within one minute of locking the doors - any time after 1 minute should not cause errors
- If you operate your car from LexusEn , keep in mind both your car and your phone need a good cell phone signal to work well. If your car is parked somewhere with spotty cell phone reception, it may not work because the receiver in the car won’t get the transmission

LexusEn definitely needs work, and I can assure you Lexus knows this, but here’s hope these tips help some people out there in the meantime! =)

I don’t usually write reviews....

I recently traded in my Lexus and I am not sure if I miss my car or LexusEn the most!!!!! LexusEn was So easy to learn and use!!! It always sent alerts and updates about my vehicle! I accidentally locked my key & my cell phone in my car (don’t Trust that your doors won’t lock if your key is in the car), I didn’t know what to do initially. And then I remembered my app!!! I called someone to log in LexusEn and they were able to remotely unlock my car doors!!! I also Loved that I Always knew where my vehicle was parked! I would recommend LexusEn Big time!!!

We traded our Lexus GX460 in August 2018. We were not told that we had to contact Lexus to cancel Enform. We continued to be charged every February 23rd in 2019, 2020, and 2021. I contacted Lexus enform. They had me complete a form and send in proof of disposal. No answer for multiple weeks. I called to follow up. Elizabeth told me they would refund 2021 but no refund for 2020 or 2019. $360 down the drain. Extremely poor customer service for a premium brand at a premium cost. Lexus just lost a 3 time buyer.
