Completely disappointed

I just got my LG tv smart tv yesterday, we had returned our Samsung we had gotten on Black Friday because we were told that the LG’s picture was better. While that may be true I’m missing the Samsung more and more, their physical remote and APP remote were far easier to use than LG. Now the physical remote works fine it’s just a learning curve from the Samsung, but LGTVPlus is garbage. I had read the reviews before downloading and hoped that LG had fixed the issues mentioned since most had the same complaints. Nope. Every time I’ve wanted to use LGTVPlus for the remote it wants to reconnect to my tv like it’s the first time, only I don’t have to put a pin in. I’m a mother of four small children so there is high probability that the physical remote may go missing sometimes and I need my remote to app to function properly and someone even that can be touchy. Are you programmers so busy on other products that they can’t fix these problems or do you just enjoy getting negative reviews for your products. I also had a vizio smart tv for 3 years before this and wasn’t to know how many times I had a hard time with their smart cast app? Maybe 2-3 times in the entire time I owned the TV. Seriously fix this crap.

Some things about it are really ANNOYING

Why can I not turn on my TV with LGTVPlus? Like why even make an app that lets me control my app when I’m forced to have the remote near me , or I have to be awkwardly close to the screen of the tv to turn it on manually smh . All of the smart TVs that I got allowed me to do this simple task, even my PlayStation allows me to turn it on with my phone. 2nd complaint is LGTVPlus constantly restarts itself , like I can literally reopen iMessage after I started LGTVPlus and LGTVPlus restarts Itself where it wants to search for nearby TVs. When that happened to me the 1st I thought it was just like a onetime thing like a small glitch or something, but soon afterwords i realized that it did that EVERY SINGLE TIME I EXITED LGTVPlus and even letting the phone’s screen turn off does this smh . The last thing that I have against LGTVPlus,( I have other suggestions for improvements for LGTVPlus, but these are like the main things that like REALLY matter imo) it’s really laggy where I have to constant tap the volume button to turn down the volume a couple of digits. I don’t really see how u guys are cool with having such a low rating on LGTVPlus like you guys have like 2 1/2 stars , com’n guys you are literally know for being a tv manufacturer that’s the thing that most people think when they hear “LG” yet u guys cool with this 💩app ?

Extremely laggy

I’m actually able to connect to my tv (C7 Oled) no problem, but the pointer movement is really laggy and jittery, which makes navigation really difficult and much worse than using the remote control.

I wanted to use a tablet to control my entire entertainment system, and I unfortunately can control everything I own from the tablet flawlessly except for the LG TV. Because of this lag issue I still need to use my remote control that came with the tv.

I’ve got the TV itself connected via Ethernet and the tablet I’m using is on my 5ghz band WiFi. I tried LGTVPlus on a phone as well and get the same lag issue, so it’s not the device it’s used on that’s the problem, it’s LGTVPlus itself. I don’t remember past versions being this bad.

trackpad too small

i have used LGTVPlus since i got my smart tv a year ago, and i have to say the new update offers better performance i.e. connection stays on or faster reconnection, if necessary; better user interface in overall, faster or almost in-sync mouse response. however, the trackpad should not be limited to just a small box since it’s already on phone screen which is smaller than a computer. the design should not imitate that of a physical computer trackpad. let the entire screen be the trackpad as it used to be, and the users would not lose access to the trackpad or back button when a text box was prompting (keyboard appears and prevent further action unless UNNECESSARILY pressing return button). i will give 5 stars if this issues are fixed in the future updates.

Keep looking

First I’ve owned and regretfully used LGTVPlus for the past two years bc I didn’t know there were others (that I will be using after I finish this review and delete this god awful app. Always freezing up on me and I have to restart it regularly. It’s the only app that makes me search for the ONE LG tv I have in my house every time I open LGTVPlus even if I sent a two second text and get right back to LGTVPlus . And hopefully it doesn’t freeze while it’s looking for the tv it was just connected to seconds prior. Some interesting features like sharing your content to the tv screen but that’s not what I need a remote for. Imagine if your physical tv remote had to connect to the tv and find it every time, you’d throw it away. My other LG app for my blu Ray player stays connected so what’s the deal guys?? No one on your team thought that might be an annoying setback? You lose, good day sir

Connection can not established in sleep mode & loading time is long

LGTVPlus lost control when i’m in another app between 2/3 minuets & when i watch movies connecting my phone to tv i have to open LGTVPlus as long as the end of movie . Even when phone are in sleep mood it’s lost connection...when I connected my phone with LGTVPlus and went to go all settings it took long time to loading and when i share videos from my phone and watched a video and want to see the full menu of videos its took long time and make me anger ..developers should be fix it and took facilities to connection LGTVPlus with tv in background & in sleep mood in iphone. And loading time should be discraging on tv ...

Thank you.

Not good, but it’s getting better

A year later when I get an LG smart tv, I was required to download this application in case to monitor videos and pictures and I still remember it was horrible experience, this application was full of bugs, issues and technical problems it was disconnected all the time and it was difficult to reconnect, that time I deleted it, two years later exactly at November 2019 when I download it a lot of these issues were fixed I was surprised I was able to stream media and music it’s great experience I was happy that they overcome these problems and be able to make a good place for costumers to enjoy.

The app is a headache, but free

I have to reconnect way too many times. LGTVPlus performance feels glitchy. It reacts very slow and even sometimes it’s non-responsive to the point where I have to close down then restart LGTVPlus . The MOST annoying thing about LGTVPlus is that I always have to reconnect to page scroll up and down while using the web browser. Super annoying. You got 1/2 star just for LGTVPlus being available , I’ll give you that cause I like the mouse pad feature (another 1/2 star for that feature), its better than using a slower directional pad on the tv remote. BUT everything needs to be seriously updated. Lastly, 1 star for making LGTVPlus FREE to download and use. Total 2 stars, I’m done complaining. Thank you

Keeps Disconnecting

This would be a great app if it didn’t disconnect each time the screen on my phone locks. I have to periodically tap my phone screen for the entire duration of a movie ( imagine the annoyance of doing this for 2 hours) in order to prevent LGTVPlus from closing and disconnecting. This makes streaming video content from my device onto my LG smart TV very annoying. Also, once LGTVPlus disconnects, you have to restart the movie all over again.

Overall, this is an okay app. It’s pretty useful for the basic functions, but I wish some improvements to the capabilities would be made. If the disconnection issue is fixed, LGTVPlus will be great.

Basics and Wishful Thinking

This is a great, basic remote control. Works fine to control TV volume, use a cursor, use buttons, access TV menus. That is all you should count on. It contains a lot of wishful thinking instead of actual functionality beyond those basics.
There's a lot to be desired in the LG TV app. An example: it consistently takes about 10 seconds to switch from the keyboard back to trackpad/arrows, in iPad & iPhone. That's some serious lag time. As for sharing mobile content, I gave up on that. Lag time is too generous a term for it.
Maybe I'm being punished for not buying a $1,500-plus TV model. Maybe LGTVPlus just isn't much good yet.

Eh

Every time I open this application on my phone, I have to always re-connect to my Smart TV. Another thing, when I attempt to re-connect it asks me to connect it to the same WiFi my Smart TV is connected to... which both, my phone & TV are connected to the same WiFi I use at home. I checked both. Still doesn’t want to connect even getting out of the application. I had to delete LGTVPlus & download it again to see if it would connect properly or not. I tested it to see, same problem. The fact that I have to delete LGTVPlus and re-download & to have the same problem, it’s very disappointing. For now, it will be deleted from my phone. Another customer they lose, who is unsatisfied. Developers.... please update. Thanks.

It’s a good app

People say they have connection issues and the pad is too small or such but it’s actually really good. You have the option of having a cursor on the screen which I never knew was a think until I got LGTVPlus and everything is accessible. You don’t have to pay for a “pro” version and if you have live tv, you can watch channels. For me everything works great. I just wish there was a “Keyboard” option so typing would be easier. Overall great app.

Great if app didn’t lock up when connecting to tv

Freezes and locks up every time I switch to LGTVPlus after any significant amount of time not using LGTVPlus . Locks up when searching for the TV. Then I have to hard close LGTVPlus and open it back up. The second time it always progresses correctly and allows me to select my TV and works great. Wish it worked 100% of the time the first time with my OLED C8AUA running all the latest / updated software. Fix the glitch and I think it will be a 5-star companion app to an excellent TV.

Just an OK app

Love the idea of controlling my TV from my phone. I have a Marantz receiver and I control it from my phone. No more staring at menus on your Tv while you fiddle with settings.

The LG TV apps aren’t very good. I have two major complaints

1) I should be able to change TV settings without invoking on the on screen menus. I Should (for example) bring up brightness and slide it and only see the TV get brighter. Or at the very most see the slider on the screen. LGTVPlus for the LG is basically just a remote. You still have drill 5 clicks into the menu

2) I want to keep my OLED off as much as possible. I should be able to pull up my app and see the TVs status. Sometimes my kid plays xbox downstairs and I tell him to turn it off when he is finished. But I still want to make sure. The LG has a power button but it is no better than the old infrared remotes. You have no clue if you turned the TV on or off. Best to just walk to the basement

Good try, but not very helpful. Best to stay with a remote.

Ugh..

I’ve always had LGTVPlus since I’ve had my 55” 4K HD LG smart tv. This was a year ago almost.. but anyways, before the new update, I got LGTVPlus to connect to my tv maybe 3 times and then it never worked again after that. After the most update for LGTVPlus, it worked I think 2 times and then stopped working again. I cannot get it to work at all. I power cycled the router and everything. I followed all the directions too so I don’t understand. Overall it’s a nicely laid application. It’s simple and easy to use when you get it to work. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
