My old pill reminders app notify me that it would not work with future iOs releases I will give PillReminder a great rating for the amount of useful data that can be entered per med just like my old reminder but that is where the rating starts to drop. When you use a flat database instead of a relational database is what i have the biggest problems instead of entering data once and each screen pulls up the information it needs ( which my former reminder did) you windup having to add the same information several time. When you take at least eight meds minimally and add and change doses, times, and maybe delete than restart with as many as 12 drugs at any one time. Then the screens look pretty but as several reviews have pointed out are to “busy “ I find the prettyness of the screen distracting. The customer service is nonexistent, no response after 3 emails

A once outstanding app is no longer

2022-06-29

I purchased the full version several years ago and found it to a valuable app. I’ve used it daily and am now ready to give it ip and delete it from my phone.

Within a few months of initial use I discovered that it deletes stored medication use date that I had entered when I changed the dosage (eg from 2 tablets/day to 1 tablet/day). I wrote to the developer and suggested a modification in a future update and was told it was a good suggestion and would be addressed in a future update. Several years later the issue has not been addressed. Doctors do change prescriptions from time to time and its not good to lose historical use data when that happens.

Recently, daily use data (5 of 7 medication dosage entries) I’ve input disappear after 3 days. Again I went to the support page for PillReminder and submitted information on this new issue and have heard nothing. I can no longer use an application which deleted my use information and appears to do nothing to address the issue.

Good but needs a little more work.

I got this after getting into a good accident that required me to take meds on a time. Where PillReminder fell short for me is on 2 areas. 1) PillReminder does not work across multi platforms, ie; filling all of the info on my iPhone and then later having to do all of the same with my iPad. It becomes even more complicated with 2) when you put in the times to take the meds, if you miss a dose, say because your sleeping, and then you take the meds right when you wake up, say an hour after you should have taken the pills, three hours before the next dose, PillReminder should adjust the times on the schedule to information one took the time to put in. After the first few missed doses, again due to sleep, I gave up on recording my intake and went back to iOS notes, where it’s cloud based and pulls the info from either device and has the info when and where I need it. It makes for long notes when you need to take 4 meds, all timed differently.

PillReminder has a lot of potential and should some of the topics be amended from above this would be #1 app!!

Cheers.

I like the idea of the App it just needs to work a little better

2022-08-31

After an injury I needed an app to help me with my pill reminders. At first PillReminder seemed to be perfect. However as I have used it throughout the week a few glitches have appeared. I feel like the user interface is a bit confusing. I cannot for example easily switch to lower doses and different times without keeping a history of past use. To combat this I created a new user which has helped. However in deleting the old user the notifications keep coming from an account I can not see. This has made everything extra confusing since now I have reminders from two users but no way to get rid of the ghost user reminders if you will. I suspect I will need to delete PillReminder and it’s data and reinstall to start over again. Just a bit of an annoyance for me but for someone not strong with technology this might be something they would like support with. I think it would be much easier if the graphic interface was simply like a daily calendar with medications landing on the day hour by hour just like in a calendar which is probably what I will be going back to after this review.

Helpful but needs work

2022-10-02

I purchased the full version of PillReminder and find it worth the money. The interface is easy to read and the integration with a calendar is useful. Email feature is great especially if you’re helping someone manage their needs remotely. That said, a few revisions/additions would bring PillReminder to 5 stars. First, the programming is laborious and can get confusing with multiple medications and multiple dosing. It isn’t always possible to enter a prescription as written on the label so you have to figure out a way to program the medication dosage schedule on PillReminder to follow the prescribed schedule. Cumbersome. Second, cloud backup feature would be great. Third, pill icons too limited and can get confusing. Any way to link with medication database online for greater accuracy? Fourth, multiuser feature to alert you about relative’s medications, for example. These suggestions are not essential but would upgrade the utility of PillReminder IMHO.

Very Good App

2022-11-02

For most people’s purposes, this is a very good app. The developer has listened to feedback and implemented some of the suggestions I have made.

One issue started cropping up recently that I had not noticed with it previously. I am on a cruise going around the entire planet. As we have gone from one time zone to another and I have set my phone to the correct local time, the times for reminders keep changing.

For example, if I set a reminder for 0900 to take a medicine and we later crossed a time zone boundary so that I had to set the time on my phone back one hour, the reminder would then begin sounding at 0800 instead of remaining at 0900.

The ship I’m on has now passed through 15 time zones and even crossed the International Dateline. This has totally messed up the reminder times for my medicines.

And if I change the reminders? I get a message saying if I continue, all historical data for that medication will be erased. That’s simply no good.

PillReminder should at least give the user the option of keeping reminders at the same hours as time zones change. And it should be able to maintain historical data independent of how future reminders are modified.

Pill Reminder- reminds me at unscheduled times

2022-12-04

I’m really happy to have found PillReminder. It has many features that makes it a very useful tool in managing my meds, vitamins and other supplements. I can keep track of when I’ve taken any of these product’s. I can also include upcoming appointments. If I have to take a pain med earlier than usual I can reschedule the following dose. I can indicate whether I decide to skip or not take a dose. I can also make a note why I am taking an extra or early dose. It solves the worry of “did I take this med?” Or “didn’t I take this already” ?. I can schedule each med for multiple times during the day and have an alert tone for it. It’s fantastic!! Except for one thing. I’ll get an alert tone but for a time I have not scheduled or rescheduled! I’ve gone back to the reminder feature to check the times I have scheduled and that particular time setting is not there. I’m trying to think whether I’ve missed some instruction. Help please.

Also in scheduling a dose I can not remove one.
I may have four scheduled times and want to reduce it to three and can not delete one of the scheduled times from the reminder page. I’m missing something some information on how to do it . Or maybe I have to do it from another page in PillReminder ?

Love this app!!

2023-01-04

To start I need to fill y’all in on all the medication I take. There are 12 medications all together from stomach enzymes to mental health medication. most at different times throughout the day and as needed. I have a couple of TBIs as well as a shrapnel injury that messed up my pancreas. among a couple other issues from overseas in the military. PillReminder is great I set scheduled time reminders for each medication as well as multiple times a day for the ones that I take several times a day so now the only medications I need to worry about is the “as needed” and that’s pretty self explanatory lol. I haven’t missed a dose or accidentally doubled a dose in a couple months now and the difference is amazing. Thank you to whoever finally made PillReminder!! It’s well worth the couple of bucks!!

Multiple users??

2023-02-05

We are trying this out to use for our dogs’ medication. One developed a blood disorder and needs 3-5 meds every day. We were managing the 1 medication 2x per day for our other dog. I’ve just purchased the full version and entered everything without first checking to see if all of this would transfer to my husband’s phone (same account). I doesn’t. Both of us will be giving our dogs meds and it would fantastic if PillReminder could 1) transfer info and 2) recognize when a dose was given by either person. Will try it because I’ve come this far but I don’t think it will meet our needs long term.

Still Awesome!!!

2023-03-09

I have reviewed PillReminder before when I first got it. It is now been at least three years that I’ve been using it every day. And it is still absolutely awesome!! Every time I meet somebody, i.e. like in the doctors office or nurses, etc.– I tell them about this for themselves or their patients who have trouble remembering to take meds. I often get a smile when my phone in public reminds me “you’ve got meds to take“. ;)

I agree with one of the other reviewers that it would be great to have a way to remove a medication without removing all of its history. As a workaround until this could be figured out, WHAT I DO is change the name of the medication by putting DISCONTINUED (In front of the name of the medication) and putting it at the bottom of the list. I then take out all reminders and information so it doesn’t show up. Then I use the NOTES section to have a record of why this medication was stopped and any notes about it that a relative for the future.
But it would be nice to have an “archived meds” section for this purpose. This could even be added to the paid for app as an incentive to have people purchase PillReminder. Honestly, I normally never purchased apps and just put up with the commercials. But PillReminder has by far been the best couple dollars I’ve ever spent.

Great App if you are careful

2023-04-07

When PillReminder works it's GREAT. But if you have to make changes to the times that you take a medicine you have to be VERY careful. If you aren't careful the future times won't be updated. Some things aren't user friendly. I set a reminder to get up and walk around because I get so engrossed when I am working on my computer I sit too long and then I have trouble getting up. That and the reminder every 3 hours to take an alternating pain medicine is the greatest. I was having trouble remembering if I took pain medicine "A" at 3:00 pm and that I had to take pain medicine "B" at 6:00 pm. Pill Reminder makes it so easy because a reminder pops up and I can snooze the reminder up to 5 times.

Simple + does the job well

2023-05-09

exactly what i was looking for in an app for medicine reminders. i was able to set the time that i normally take the pill in the morning and night. what i love about this is that it keeps me in my daily routine, however, if i don't log that i've taken it on time (morning or night) PillReminder will leave a notification icon on my display as well as on PillReminder reminding me to take it. i also love that you can look back on a calendar view to view your medications for specific days, as well as the feature of setting a reminder for when refills are needed.
overall very simple and does exactly what it needs to! would definitely recommend to anyone needing reminders on daily medication / logging medication in general.

My Family Keeper

2023-06-09

Thank you for PillReminder! I have been using it for approximately six months. With aging parents and aging siblings I found myself challenged with assisting them to document and track each persons medication and more. I am NOT in the medical field but found this to be helpful for me and others who find themselves assisting do In-home care by default. I now have the ability to quickly present a list of meds to paramedics, emergency room attendants and to compare or dispute with the doctors when they don’t have a system of their own to list my family members medication or they just screw up and over medicate. Just recently, my sibling was carted off to the ER room by the paramedics. I was able to bring up PillReminder and share with them and the hospital nurse (who does not have their meds list) all meds they were taking. They were impressed with PillReminder as I have been. I am learning other features of PillReminder and wish there was a way to track and restore previous medications (changed by the doctor) for historical purposes. Maybe that feature is there and I just missed it. This will allow more discussion with the physicians on what changed, why and why a med is being repeated. PillReminder has been my saver many times. I will continue to share it with other persons who find themselves interested in tracking medication, appointments, etc. Great application.

I cannot find a fault.

2023-07-11

I have been using PillReminder for a month now, and I don’t have any complaints whatsoever, and I have ADD. In other words, my mind never slows, and with that, I forget a lot, and sometimes multiple times. PillReminder reminds me, and keeps reminding me until I tell it I took them. That is a big help. It stores all of the information you can think about, about a pill. I may only be 40, but I can definitely see the usefulness in that bit alone. PillReminder keeps up with which medicine is from which pharmacy. Some of my medicines, I do get from different pharmacies, and since I get my Rxs early, it helps me plan my days after work, so I can do everything in the part of town the specific pharmacy is in. PillReminder is one I will always have on my phone.

Great Pill reminder with one missing element

2023-08-11

This is a great program for all the things it says it will do. Terrific. The only missing element is for the data to sync with my other devices. I primarily use the IPad to enter in all the data but there are times that medication is taken on the run (at a restaurant, show, shopping, etc.). They have a workaround where I have to backup and send my data to an email and then restore to my other device. However, I have to remember that each time I enter data. I use the iPad at home but when I am at the Dr.’s office I am using my iPhone. So the bottom line is that if the program will sync with iCloud so that all the data is current on all devices all the time, it would make the program the very best. I also manage another person too.

Wife’s Cancer Chemo pills

2023-09-12

I like PillReminder and it seems to be the best I can find so far, except fir a few things I believe can be better it would have 5 stars. 1. Substitutions and placing meds on an active or inactive state is needed or I need to learn how. My wife has been having a tough time with chemo and medicines have been changed in one case 3 times in 1 month. This leaves her with different medications that have been started, stopped or substituted and returned to the original. 2. I have a hard time changing the times and dosage when the doctor changes from the original script for short periods. 3. It would be helpful if the generic and brand name had a field, since the prescriptions are most times generics. 4 I would like to be able to take a photo of the medicine bottle to store the information.

UPDATED Could use Apple Watch complication.

2023-10-14

Let me just say that this is the first time I’ve ever actually needed a pill remind your app. At 60 years old I now have a couple of medications I have to take every day. PillReminder does everything I need it to except for having support from my Apple Watch. I don’t always have my phone with me because I can do almost everything on my watch. But I would like to see it either somehow the reminders show up on my watch and or an actual complication from my Apple Watch. If they implement that, and this becomes a five star app for me.

Update: As a new user I didn’t know that I would not only get the reminders on my watch but that I would also be able to log my medication that I took it. I would still like to see a complication for my watch.

Super helpful

2023-11-14

Just needed an app to remind me to give my toddler her medication every 8 hours- and surprisingly it was hard to find an app that would do that! This one works perfectly for this- gives me a reminder ahead of time and snoozes/reminds me until I check “taken”.
Another key feature is that I can set the meds to be taken at the same time every day- it doesn’t just count every X hours. For example, I set it at 7.5 hours so that I didn’t have to give her meds at such crazy early or late hours- I was worried PillReminder would just add 7.5 hours to the last time I scheduled her meds every day, changing that time every day- but it did NOT- it stayed 7am, 2:30pm and 10pm for each day. I know this seems silly, but sometimes they don’t think of things like this when they make apps!!
Long review- but PillReminder really made this awful chore a bit easier for me! Thanks!

Best reminder yet

2023-12-16

I have had a handful of prescription reminder over the last 8 or so years. Some failed to work after Apple updated their OS, which is the reason I purchased the full version of PillReminder. For me, PillReminder does exactly what I needed and then some. I recently had a full knee replacement so keeping on top of the pain is critical for me. The reminders are outstanding for this and being able to see the daily history is a great help. After using PillReminder for about a week, it dawned on me that the reminder system would also work for keeping track of my daily exercises. I treat the exercise like medication and I use the instruction box to input the instruction from the Physical Therapist. I use the notes box to track my progress. Since I just stated, I am not sure how many characters are allowed in this boxes.

The only thing that I word like to see in a future release is an automated syncing to all of my devices like I see in other APPs. There is a feature in PillReminder that accomplishes the same thing, but it is a manual process, which you must remember to do.

Post surgery pill dilemma solved!

2024-01-16

Normally I don’t take medications. But following knee replacement surgery, I was sent home the same day with nine different medications that had a variety of dosages and different times to take. It seemed overwhelming, until my son suggested a pill application app. This has been a lifesaver!

I entered each medication, with the dosage and time. It allowed me to take a photo of the pill to avoid taking the wrong medication, as well as any special instructions. The reminders pop up on my phone and I just check them off as I take them. I like the feature that allows me to check off all medications at a certain time, without having to check them off individually one by one. It records the time they were taken, so if I ran a little late with one dose I simply adjusted the time of the next dose. When I completed taking the bottle of pills, I could remove it from the medication list.

Plenty of physical therapy exercises and other things to do after surgery without needing to worry about when to take my prescriptions!

Erases your history if you adjust anything about the reminder

2024-12-16

PillReminder is great if you have one or two medications and you don't EVER change when or how much you take. You CAN manually change these things day-to-day, but if you settle on a new dose or timing and you change the reminder to reflect that, it *erases all of the history for that reminder*. Why? No idea. It warns you this will happen, at least. If you want to keep a record of that medication history, the only alternative is to get reminders at the wrong time and then manually input when and how much you actually take every single time. It's ridiculous.

I do like basically everything else about PillReminder , but this drawback is huge, since the main the reason one would use such an app is if one takes a complex set of medications. It is rare that these will stay exactly the same over time, and it can be important to know how and when changes were made. Please fix this problem!!!

Decent

2024-12-16

PillReminder is the best I have found of the dozen I have tried. It has most of what one needs in a medication reminder app.

The biggest things that PillReminder still need are: a rolling reminder, so when one has a med that is taken on a semi schedule, and isn’t taken on the first time or two it could be taken, PillReminder reminds you that said med hasn’t been taken, and doesn’t let said reminder fall off your list; and when a med needs to have its schedule changed, PillReminder should continue keeping track of all dates when said med was taken, rather than deleting all past darta and making one have to imput a new schedule for any miner changes. A 3rd thing is that the ux is

Definitely Worth Trying

2024-12-16

I’m giving this 4 stars only because PillReminder doesn’t automatically sink between devices. However to be fair PillReminder has the ability to send an email where you can update your other device (iPad or cell). I’ve used the full version for over a month and I really like it. I would definitely recommend PillReminder using the full version so that you get the apps full potential for your need. I don’t like throwing money away on trying apps, but I felt this one was worth spending $1.99...remember we all have different needs and app skills which will determine if PillReminder is for you. I can honestly say PillReminder works for me managing multiple medications.

Great reminder system!

2024-12-16

I take one pill which is easy enough to remember but i alternate between a whole pill and a half pill each day, so it was easy to set up the two schedules in PillReminder. The inexpensive upgrade was worth it to me after my dog started taking meds. Two pills twice a day, one pill 3 times a day, and a shot once a week which was changed to once every 3 days. PillReminder keeps track of it all, and it works with my IPhone & Apple Watch. I like that it lets me mark a med as taken from the lock screen, but if I have multiple reminders on the notifications screen it clears them all (although it accurately marks just the one I selected as taken). If you have multiple notifications you DO have to log in to the iPhone if you need to mark the others as taken. A fairly minor inconvenience in an otherwise great app!

Best by far

2024-12-16

This is the best made tracking app I’ve ever seen. It’s thought out far beyond what I’d expect from any piece of phone software. Creating and editing a medication or reminder is fast and intuitive while also allowing for the detail some users need and the flexibility required in the real world. Every feature holds surprises for ease of use. Even the alarm sounds are done brilliantly with the title including the length of the audio, eliminating the need to play every single one to figure out which is shortest/longest based on your need. PillReminder has eliminated my anxiety of trying to handle a complex medication regiment, letting me focus on enjoying life while staying healthy.

Button Locations

2024-12-16

First off, I love PillReminder and I've used it for years and years, it's so reliable, so still 5 stars.

I only wish is that "Take All" and "Add as Needed" were separated--with either (1) "Add as Needed" at the top of the Drop Down Menu and "Take All" at the bottom or (2) "Add as Needed" as its own separate icon shortcut next to the Drop Down Menu.

Because the way it's set up now, it's ridiculously easy to accidentally press "Take All" and watch in numb horror as everything is checked with no way to press "Undo," and then having to manually and tediously correct each and every incorrect checkmark (which must be tapped twice and also has a strange several-second lag between each tap).

If you’re like me and use PillReminder to to keep track of not only multiple meds but different vitamins and supplements as well, this is really, really irritating when it happens more than once.

Please, please change this, I implore you!
